Welcome dear Kitcheners. I am very happy to be opening the door to my favourite Granspals.

We have a new Aga. The atmosphere is cosy ' The buffet is ready for the sharing of. In the quiet corner we have music to suit all tastes. There are reclining chairs and cosy blankets and if all one wants to do is relax, then please do so.

By the way, it is a dear pal Baggs birthday tomorrow. There is a birthday cake in the larder. There is also plenty of Champagne with which to toast her.

I am off to my bed.

Thank you all for being extra special people. flowers moon]

Another here Hellogirl who hopes the send off for your girl went well. Cherish all those memories you have of her during the happy times. She knew she was loved while she was here. That counts for a lot.

hellogirl thinking of you today and hoping that all goes well.
nannytopsy thinking of you too for your long drive along the A14, not an especially pleasant drive I remember! I hope it’s not too busy. I only have a few miles to go for my physio appointment this morning. DD2 will take me as I’m not cleared to drive yet (& am too much of a wimp to tackle the hospital car park anyway!) I hope your appointment is worthwhile!
Frosty here this morning and a cold day in prospect.

Sorry to hear of more sadness for our kitchen friends.

Sad for you, RosiesMaw, that your sister has passed away.

Hope mr soop is safe home and resting.

Hello,*weeanni*. Good to meet you.

That’s sad maw, distance can be such a barrier. Hard news for you to hear granmarie, people who choose to die leave much hurt behind them.

I am and will be be thinking of you hellogirl. You’ll be saying goodbye with love, that’s all that matters.

Travel safely brook. I still miss East Anglia although it’s 50 years since we lived in the area. Cambridge holds a very special place in my heart, we had such wonderful times there.

There’s so much sadness about, is it always this way at this time of year do you think? Our former daughter in laws partner lost his Mum this week. Sadness for the whole blended family.

On a lighter note we had a thoroughly enjoyable trip to our nearest NT today where we found the Christmas decorations both beautiful and imaginative. A worthwhile visit.

Time I was asleep. An early grocery delivery tomorrow, best not scare the driver.

Grannmarie Thu 19-Dec-24 23:26:48

Hellogirl, 💕🙏💐 I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, R.I.P. Lynne.

Rosie'sMaw, so sorry to hear that your dear sister has died.💐

Thank you for all your kind words about my neighbours' daughter.

Safe travels to Cambridge, brook, enjoy your family visit.

Not long now, Nannytopsy, hope everything goes well for you.

Hello 👋 weeanni, great to see you in the kitchen!

Thinking of Soops tonight, hoping and praying that today went well.

Evening! Welcome to weenanni59 - it is a very warm and friendly place.
That’s sad news RosiesMaw, particularly at such a distance of both time and miles.
Another run to hospital ( an 80 mile round trip!) to see the physiotherapists’ clinic again. I did query it as I have done this once - it’s only an informational session. I was told I had to do it but the physios didn’t think I should be there! I’m getting to know the A14 intimately!
I have lots of presents to wrap and all the beds to change ready for visitors next month. I woke at 1.30 this morning, trying to organise in my mind the remaining jobs into the available time.
Sleep tight everyone! 💤

Hellogirl1 Thu 19-Dec-24 22:51:38

Sorry to read your sad news, Granmarie and RosiesMaw. There always seems to be sad news at Christmas time.
It`s Lynne`s funeral tomorrow morning. There won`t be many there, she didn`t know many outside the family, and they`re mostly in Lancashire and Yorkshire. But we will do our best to give her a good send off, bless her.

Here’s hoping that Mr Soop had a successful day and is not too exhausted by all the travelling. A good night is definitely called for.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 19-Dec-24 22:34:31

RosiesMaw🌹

Hello kitchen people.

I hope Mr Soop had a good day and is safely home.

It was my U3A Art History meeting today. There were only ten of us. We watched a 20 minute film of 200 paintings depicting snow! We then had mulled wine, spiced apple juice and a selection of nibbles.

My food processor is due to be delivered tomorrow.

Sleep 💤 tight.

brook2704 Thu 19-Dec-24 22:29:00

Hope Mr Soop arrived home safely
Back to the quiet corner I go.

Redcar Thu 19-Dec-24 22:02:40

rosiesmaw so sorry to hear your news. It’s an odd feeling that one is the sole survivor of a family, thinking of you.
Sympathy to all those in the kitchen who are going through sad and difficult times at the moment.

RosiesMaw2 Thu 19-Dec-24 21:52:05

I have just heard that my only and older sister passed away in her care home in Nova Scotia this morning.
My BIL died in 2023 and I have not seen any of her family for many years. Some not at all.
It's strange to lose your only living (birth) relative even though I feel I had "lost" her possibly 6 or 7 years ago when our email conversations and phone calls stopped making sense.
I feel guilty that I was not able to see her while she was still able to recognise people but honestly could not afford it, and then Paw 's illness ruled it out- -before it was too late.
Her middle son and his wife are visiting from Canada next and I very much hope to be able to rebuild a relationship with her family through them.
