Good morning all. Filthy very wet morning in Glasgow with more heavy rain and grey skies.

Another painful disturbed sleep last night but, not much I can do bar keep taking the pills! Hey ho.

Yesterday’s meet up with our lovely friends was such a tonic.
Sorry you couldn’t make it Stilllearning but there is always the next one when hopefully we can catch up then.
Happy Birthday Pants and many more happy returns of the day. 🎂

No plans for today apart from possibly catching up on some sleep.

Best wishes to all for as good a day as possible.

Good morning from cloudy Lancashire. It feels much milder today, no trace of recent frosts. I must check that I have enough meds to last until mid January., wishing everybody health, perhaps some wealth, and most definitely a little happiness 🌹

Annypop Thu 05-Dec-24 09:02:51

Good morning from County Durham.
I'll continue with sewing Christmas bunting this morning.....my nod to streamers in the past. They're looking quite good strewn across the windows and I'm one window short!
Hairdresser this afternoon followed by GS3 and GD2 Carol Concert at their school.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Happy Birthday, Pantglas!🎂🥂.

Wishing you a Happy Birthday Pant. Enjoy those bubbles 🍾🥂🎉

Good morning from a very murky Durham. Everywhere is sodden, but at least it’s calm and mild. The builders have dropped off ‘stuff’, so I guess work is imminent.
A strange day - the anniversary of DD2’s stroke. One minute she was a happy 12 year old off to school, then never to walk again. She is such an inspiration, I wish I could post a pic of her, she’s stunningly beautiful too. It could’ve been so much worse.

I babysat DGS2 last night, so I brought Little Dog back with me, as it’s cleaners day at her bungalow. I’ll take him home tomorrow - but will factor in a wet, muddy walk later.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, damp and currently still Carlisle. Worse is to come I believe...
I hope the skein of geese that have just flown over heading north have heard the forecast and are not going far. Probably as far as the bird reserve at Caerlaverock on the other side of the Solway I guess. Somewhere I keep meaning to visit, it's just that the drive isn't enticing at this time of year but I should dearly like to see the over-wintering swans, down from Iceland.

Yesterday was quite busy, trying to find a plumber,(and succeeding), making a cake and trying not to eat it all at once (it's going in the freezer) and catching up on reading etc etc.

Today I must face the fact that Christmas is imminent, cards to write, presents to wrap. This is where I really miss DH, such a brilliant parcel wrapper whilst my efforts are, well...rubbish!

The rest of the day may well be spent reducing my growing pile of unread books, and I've bought yet another one, a praised biography of Thomas Cromwell, inspired by watching The Mirror and the Light. Generally I'm fed up of hearing about the Tudors but I've loved Hilary Mantel's trilogy.

I'm glad you Glesca Grannies had a good time, great photo.

Have a pleasant day all of you.

GrannySomerset Thu 05-Dec-24 08:28:45

Hairdresser first thing, then helping a friend with a coffee morning selling her lovely cards for the local hospice. The afternoon will be devoted to making the four dozen mince pies I rashly promised for the villages Christmas fair on Saturday. I still think I am 40!

luluaugust Thu 05-Dec-24 08:26:52

Good morning from a wet W Kent. I must get into town this morning and buy a small turkey crown to go in the freezer, I also seem to have run out of Christmas bags. Cards are now posted and quite a few have arrived I guess a lot of people have the same idea.
Happy birthday to Pantglas

Taichinan Thu 05-Dec-24 08:19:53

Good morning all from a dark, damp Angus coast.
Welcome back Pantglas and happy birthday.
It's lovely that your mum is so settled into her new home that she doesn't want to go out Susan!
Karma and grandmattie you are such busy ladies you put me to shame.
Glad the glesca grannies had a happy meet-up.
Today is the Tai Chi Christmas lunch. All three morning classes will join together in our little hall first of all for some light-hearted fun with the moves and then walk along to a nearby hotel. It's not the last of the classes before Christmas though - they want to keep going until the 19th!
Have a good day everyone x

Good morning everybody from south Manchester where it’s damp out but not raining presently. I’m meeting a friend who I worked with (at the hospital up the road) for coffee mid morning in the square. She’s such good company and always has me laughing so I’m really looking forward to seeing her again - we last met up before the summer holidays.

This afternoon I have a mani/pedi booked and then at teatime I’m off to watch L’il Miss at her swimming lesson. She’s been moved up another group and has a new swimsuit! Actually she’s had a growth spurt recently I’m surprised how leggy she’s becoming. 🥰

Good morning from a wet Suffolk. What a lot of busyness on here from you all. I feel a bit shamed by your preparations and activities but I’ll get there in the end.

Traditionally when the children were at home, apart from DH and I buying presents, writing cards and making the cake, nothing happened in the house until Christmas Eve.

Off to my stretch class soon and then I’ll pop into our nearest town for some essential items before heading off to a dear friends ‘bit of a do’ in aid of the NSPCC.

Hope all have a good day.

GrannyIvy Thu 05-Dec-24 08:09:31

Good morning from a wet Cambridgeshire. Yesterday morning my DD2 fell in the shower and had only the little 5 year with her. Thankfully we live only 10 minutes in the car from each other so I dashed over to sort little monkey out and take him to school. We then spent the morning in our local A & E, nothing broken but she is very shaken and bruised. It ended up a hectic day one way or another with sorting the GC etc.

Today I have my usual Thursday morning Pilates class. I then need to make the Christmas sausages rolls and do other Christmas baking for the freezer plus checking in on DD2 and another friend who lives alone and is unwell.

Hope everyone has a good day and best wishes to those struggling 💐

harrigran Thu 05-Dec-24 08:07:21

Good morning from a damp NE, where the wind has blown over all the fences around the holes in the pavement. It was a very noisy night.
SIL and I went to the concert in Durham, GD and her rock band were amazing as were all the other musicians and the choir. The warm mince pies and drinks in the interval were a lovely festive touch.
Today is a tidying up day after the workmen and maybe finish writing cards.
Have a good day.

Grandmabatty Thu 05-Dec-24 08:06:37

Happy birthday to Pantglas. The photos have disappeared.

Grandmabatty Thu 05-Dec-24 08:05:18

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and wet. Susan fingers crossed that your mum will fancy afternoon tea. Marydoll enjoy your day with your girls.
Yesterday I had a lovely time spent with the Glasgow grans. They are such a nice group of ladies. I've put the photos here.
Today I'll potter about until afternoon when I'm going to dgs1's Nativity. I'm looking forward to it. Have a good day all.

Gingster Thu 05-Dec-24 08:05:03

Good morning all and it’s very wet outside but not raining at the moment.

We had our last choir session until after the New Year last night and it was very festive with nibbles and chat at the end. The very talented choir master told us he’s booked Abbey Road for a recording session next July. Such excitement.!

Today I have bowls this morning and later Dd and DGD will be here after school. A quick tea and then Brownies for a film evening. The children have so many lovely things at this time of year. Tomorrow is DD’s birthday and her and DGD are going to Marsh Farm for the day. I don’t know who is more excited.🥳.

Good luck with Lakeside GG. 🎄.

I’m glad the glesga grannies had a great meet up. I missed seeing the photos. Where can I find them?

Take care all 🙏

BlueSapphire Thu 05-Dec-24 08:03:01

Thought I'd show you my Christmas tree!

BlueSapphire Thu 05-Dec-24 08:01:38

Good morning everyone from a quite wet Northampton, sods law, I am off to the hairdresser for a cut and colour this morning!

A morning of catching up with housework yesterday, then got the tree and decorations in from the garage, and spent a happy afternoon putting it all in place while listening to Christmas carols.

May go to the shops after the hairdresser, but will see what the weather is like.

Happy birthday Pantglas - glad you enjoyed your cruise; 4 months till I step on board the other lovely ship, Discovery!

Have a lovely day everyone.

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 05-Dec-24 07:42:04

Glenda grannies, should of course read Glesca Grannies!

brook2704 Thu 05-Dec-24 07:37:53

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark and looks a bit wet and windy
A very Happy Birthday Pantglas and welcome home, I imagine your cruise has been wonderful
A had a really lovely enjoyable day yesterday at the Glasgow meet up, it’s always great to see everyone. Today I’ve a bit of food shopping to do and then we’re picking up DGD from school for a sleepover tonight
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

hollysteers Thu 05-Dec-24 07:25:25

Good morning Mick and all from a cold and damp northwest coast.
Doc thought my stomach pain was just a re settling of everything after op’ although on the other side, it’s improving now.
Then on to fine lunchtime recital, flute and piano, a good programme. On a superficial note, the flautist wore lovely glittering shoes with a diamond like flower effect on the front.

I had lunch in town, read my kindle, then a manicure and a merry red polish for Christmas. A little shopping, bumping into friends etc., which added up to a nice day.

Watched Meeting the Moggs in the evening, but fell asleep and missed a video call from best friend angling for a night out before Christmas. Not sure if I’m up for what she has in mind and might try to steer her to a quieter night.

Off soon for colour and blow dry, which all helps to make me feel more myself after being in hospital.
Nice photos Bonnybanko and happy birthday Pantglas💐

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 05-Dec-24 07:21:21

Good morning. Everyone from a wet Oxfordshire.
Welcome back Pantglas and a very Happy Birthday to you 🎂🎉🥂
So pleased that the Glenda Grannies had a good lunch.
MzOops and her fellow travellers were told that the overnight train to Paris from Berlin was cancelled, so they were all put into a luxury hotel for the night and had dinner all ‘free’. She is on the train now and will be back home on Saturday. I wonder if the U.K. railways would have done the same? Hmmmm Let me think…..

Last day of the bathroom doings today (apart from the bathroom cabinet, which the electrician will fit tomorrow) so lots of cleaning to do when they’ve gone.
Goodness knows when the decorator will be here, it seems the Company forgot…..

Have a good day everyone, hugs for any poorly Grans.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 05-Dec-24 07:21:17

Morning all from a dark S E Essex.

I gave got a headache after a disturbed night, which is an inconvenience as I gave a busy day!

Cleaning fairies are here at 8.30am, DD and I are going to Lakeside shopping centre for our last Christmas bits and bobs.

The 8yr old is here later for his weekly sleepover.

Happy birthday Pantglas 🎂🥂🎁 safe journey honey 🙋‍♀️
