Good morning from very wet South Lanarkshire.

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had such a difficult time Ash, I hope you get proper pain relief.

The children were good yesterday, it was dry but cold. DH took the eldest and the dog for a run on the beach whilst I watched the middle child’s dance lesson.

We’re doing our angel yarn bomb this morning, horrible weather but it has to be done.

This afternoon we will collect DD’s three girls who are staying overnight. We’re having an evening of party food, hot chocolate and Christmas films. I’ve got a couple of easy crafty things for them to make. Our town’s annual Christmas celebrations are held tomorrow so the plan is to spend a while there before they go home.

Wishing everyone the best day possible and may you all be safe in this stormy weather.

Ash an horrendous experience! Your GP sounds pro-active, thank goodness. I hope matters proceed quickly especially with some effective pain relief

Good morning from a very windy and damp Essex coast.
We have a few bits of shopping to do this morning then football to watch.
I'm sorry to hear your story Ash, I hope you get the pain relief you need soon.
I hope everyone stays safe in the storm, love to all xx

Grandmabatty Sat 07-Dec-24 07:49:11

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and damp. It doesn't sound particularly windy here yet. Ash my heart goes out to you. I hope adequate pain relief is forthcoming. Susan I hope the flooding recedes quickly.
Yesterday I looked after dgs2 til early afternoon. He was a delight. Lots of painting and serving me pretend food. Then in the evening I went to his house to look after him while Dsil took dgs1 to a swimming lesson. He brought me a MacDonald meal which I haven't had for years. I quite enjoyed it for the novelty of fast food. The Polmont Christmas event was a washout though. As I drove home, there were hardly anybody around. Such a shame when so much work has gone into organising it. The road into Polmont was semi flooded in places.
Today I'm heading to the local garden centre to meet my friend for breakfast. Fingers crossed that it isn't flooded as that area is prone to flooding. Later tonight we are crossing the river Forth to my aunt and uncle for our annual Christmas curry and karaoke night. The numbers who attend have dropped but it's such a lovely evening. The homemade curries are to die for. I won't be home til the early hours. Have a good day all.

Good morning all from a very wet and very windy North Leicestershire.

Feeling a little better today and I want to try to catch up.

Ashcombe, that sounds like an awful episode. I hope you get some answers soon.

brook2704 Sat 07-Dec-24 08:13:05

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve had overnight snow with probably more on the way, its not windy yet though
Oh my goodness Ash you poor thing. I hope things settle down very soon, look after yourself
A quiet day for me today, DH is away visiting family so I’ve the weekend to myself. I might go out if the weather improves
Enjoy your evening grandmabatty and let us know about the karaoke!
Have a lovely evening with your DGDs Baubles
Take care everyone today if out and about especially travelling
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a very calm County Durham where we await windy weather later in the day.
The morning will be spent transforming the living room in preparation for DD2 40th birthday celebration later today. Tables, chairs etc need to be reorganised with some pieces of furniture banished to the conservatory to create more space.
It will be lovely having everyone together at the same time, which is often hard to achieve.
We've ordered in restaurant food to make the job of hosting easier, with just picky bits and deserts to organise ourselves.
The cake has been collected with a "musicals" theme as DD loves song and dance which has spilled over into her teaching career.
I'm so sorry to hear you're in so much pain Ash and I do hope a scan plus some pain relief can be sorted soon. What an ordeal for you.
Take care those of you in such stormy areas. Stay home and keep safe.

Grammaretto Sat 07-Dec-24 08:14:57

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's raining steadily but not windy.
So sorry Ash that you've had this serious setback not to mention the wait in A&E and the pain.
Sending 🫂 hugs.

My calamity is that the washing machine has stopped working.
I discovered a kind of outdoor launderette in my town yesterday.
£5 per wash.
With my helper I did masses of decluttering yesterday and one attic room is nearly empty.
Then I lit the fire and we had a small dinner party. My friend and my DS1 came and met my Helper.
I've just baked a cake for the community café but the garden is short of flowers for the tables.
Have the best day you can everyone.
I hope this latest storm is not too damaging.

Grandmabatty Sat 07-Dec-24 08:17:49

Grammaretto well done on decluttering! I did promise/threaten to help you. Maybe that's what spurred you on 😂

ginny Sat 07-Dec-24 08:18:45

Good morning. Wow, it sound awful outside here in N. Bucks. Luckily have only to get a little food shopping, otherwise we’ll be in today.
This afternoon is to be spend making Christmas crafts with my two youngest DGS.
Sorry to hear aboutAsh hope you get some pain relief.
My medical issues have now been sorted, misinformation about medication and bad communication with our surgery.
I have recently been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and my BP had gone sky. high causing some anxiety.
Thanks to those of you who expressed sympathy about my brother yesterday.

Hoping the weather doesn’t cause any of you trouble. Take care.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 07-Dec-24 08:24:58

Morning all from a very wild and woolly West Oxfordshire,

Oh Ash, I hope things can be resolved soon. Nightmare.

We had sirens on our phone on our Rhine cruise in October. Scary.

I have bits and pieces to do today. I had hoped to go to the next town for an Art exhibition, but I think there might be fallen trees in the road. I have typed up a friend’s Christmas letter so I’ll pop round with that. Otherwise, finalising Christmas lists, more WI admin and maybe some pre-Christmas food preparation.

Have a good day everyone and keep safe.

Liberty Sat 07-Dec-24 08:31:11

Good morning from a quiet Suffolk after what we think was windless night as neither of us heard anything. I haven’t yet read your posts but I hope those in the west have not suffered.

DD1 in Bristol sent a message just now saying that she hadn’t been out but it was very windy.

The concert in the church in our nearest market town( where the Christmas street fair has been cancelled) was by a group of 5 folk music players, the theme of the concert being festive winter time. They had lovely voices and played a variety of instruments and mulled wine and mince pies were available. It was enjoyable although not our kind of music.

It had been mentioned to us by a SinL who had seen them in East Yorkshire. He follows such folk groups.

Today we’ll be indoors after the dog walk and I hope to finish writing the cards and to start present wrapping.

Gingster Sat 07-Dec-24 08:33:22

Good morning all and it’s windy but no rain here in Essex.
The garden gate and fences are rattling around but no damage (so far).
I’m worried about our cottage by the sea and the summerhouse. We’re very exposed up there 😢.

Sorry to hear you’re in such pain Ash . Have you got anyone to help you out? Shopping etc. ? . Take care 💐.

Lots of things cancelled around here, but I do need to shop for tomorrow. My two brothers and sister in law are coming for lunch, but they might cancel. I’ll wait to hear.

Just heard that ds2 and family are in Disneyland Paris. They surprised the girls yesterday and are back on Monday. I hope the weather doesn’t spoil it for them. 🤞.

Hunkering down and indoor pursuits today, take care all. 🙏

GrandmaC47 Sat 07-Dec-24 08:39:25

Ash so sorry. Hope you get adequate pain relief sorted asap.
Stay safe everyone.

hollysteers Sat 07-Dec-24 08:40:57

Good morning Mick and all from a very gusty northwest coast.
Ash many commiserations to you and I hope you are soon comfortable and pain free.

Art group enjoyable as always yesterday and I painted a card with moon and trees as I have painted three designs for Christmas cards I am happy with. The group are organising a Christmas meal, but I think it clashes with another invite.

FaceTime with Dsister in London who is unwell with a virus. I have sent her a fleece duvet set as I find mine very cosy this weather, especially with an electric blanket.

There is a Christmas fair in a church hall today, but I’m decorating my tree, finishing cards and the weather is not inviting…

Thoughts to all🌺

Marydoll Sat 07-Dec-24 08:42:40

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 5°C.

My heart goes out to all of you, affected by the dreadful weather. It must be very unsettling.

Ash, how awful for you, I hope you had someone with you and manage to get some pain relief.

GM, my DH insists my phone is on vibrate only at night , after a series of late night texts from someone. What about trying that?
As for the alerts, surely a necessary nuisance? It also proves the system works.
Was the weather in Bristol not severe enough to cancel the event?

I have been awake most of the night coughing and with the double whammy of painful hips and back. I ended up wandering the house, trying not to wake DH.
I needn't have bothered, he never stirred once. The deafness intervention has obviously failed. 😡

So today will be a doing little day. I may make some empire biscuits (with a heat bag round my hips) to take my mind off the pain, I always find baking therapeutic.
Saturday is the day I update the Parish website, I hope it co-operates, it can be quite temperamental because the previous PP would not pay for an upgrade and I am in a low tolerance mood! 🤣

Stay safe folks and have a gentle day.

BlueSapphire Sat 07-Dec-24 08:49:03

Good morning everyone from a very wet and windy Northampton, a day for staying in, so I have decided against going to rugby this afternoon; a pity as DS and DGD2 should have been joining me, but it will be miserable sitting at the ground in wet clothes! Just messaged the neighbour who usually gives me a lift to say I won't be going.

Yesterday was beautiful and sunny, and enjoyed my three dance classes, although the hall was very cold. It was all Christmas music to dance to yesterday.

Awaiting a Waitrose delivery this morning - decided to have a change from Sainsbury's this week. Wanted a couple of things from Waitrose that Sainsbury's do not have, and it has saved me a trek to their store the other side of town.

Will probably put the decorations up in the sitting room today and put some Christmas cds on.

Ash, so sorry to hear about your unexpected hospital visit, and hope that you soon find some relief from the pain.

Take care those out and about today!

Liberty Sat 07-Dec-24 08:51:36

Just read the posts after my second cuppa and so sorry Ash to hear of your long wait in A&E and your continuing pain. Hope the medication is delivered very soon.

GrannyIvy Sat 07-Dec-24 09:03:29

Good morning from wet and windy (gusty) Cambridgeshire. However we are not as bad as many other parts of the country thankfully and a yellow alert in place

Yesterday after breakfast at a garden centre we went to an English Heritage property to view their Christmas in Narnia display and walked the Narnia trail through the park. It was bitterly cold but enjoyed being out in the fresh air.

Today I am off to a local garden centre with DD2 to have a browse and lunch out together. Hopefully get the Christmas tree up later.

Ashcombe 💐 How awful for you. Hope the pain eases and you get your scan quickly.

Sending best wishes to everyone and take care in this awful wind and rain (and snow for some). Such a shame so much is cancelled today.

Stilllearning Sat 07-Dec-24 09:30:30

Morning from very wet South Lanarkshire but barely no wind, some of your descriptions are awful, I do hope it all settles soon.

What a terrible experience Ash, and on your own too. That 10 hour wait in a wheelchair must have been utterly exhausting. Good that you’ve got equipment quickly to help you but I hope your pain relief arrives soon💐

A day at home with lots to get through. I went to the post office yesterday to post ‘abroad’ cards to discover they are not accepting cards for Canada because of a strike over there!
Looks like email/Facebook Christmas wishes this year.

A phone call last night from my Connel son in law to say he is dropping in tomorrow morning for breakfast after taking DGS to his part of training course to qualify as a swimming instructor. It must be quite a challenge to be doing this in the middle of his Prelims.

Take care everyone and have the best day possible.

Kalu Sat 07-Dec-24 10:50:20

A late good morning all. A milder morning here in Glasgow with no sign of yesterday’s heavy rain.

Take care all who are caught up in the worst of the storm. I read about the sirens earlier which must heighten anyone’s fears along with a disturbing experience.

Oh Ash, I empathise with you 100% re pain relief. I do hope stronger meds will be made available to you. Cocodamol with breakthrough paracetamol have been taking the edge off for a month now in my case, sciatica from neck to heel. I have requested Naproxen to add to the mix which I know from experience completely numbs the pain, again, in my case.
Sorry to hear you went through such a horrible experience.

Good luck to your DGS stilllearning, DGD is also in the middle of prelims too🤞

Have the best day possible everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 07-Dec-24 10:54:19

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. I’m late on parade this morning as had lovely long phone calls from both our daughters (22 minutes each - how witchy!) whilst enjoying TIB. Our Yorkshire Lass & SIL are on their way to Copenhagen for a weekend city break, then onto Hamburg to join SIL’s German family in celebrating his Oma’s 100th birthday! As her only grandchild she’s SO looking forward to spending time with him till their Friday flight home. Youngest daughter and SIL are taking L’il Miss to her school choir performance. We have no plans (hurrah!). I plan to wrap all the presents we’ve bought for Christmas.

Wet and very windy here but we are two floors up with no garden and potential debris to worry about.

Oh Ash I feel for you dear lady. Not ‘just’ the pain you are in but the underlying worry you must have now with the recent information you’ve been given concerning the surgery you had. I wish olddudders was with you to provide some TLC.

Grandmabatty I love the sound of your ‘Kurry & Karaoke’ get together! Do you have a ‘signature’ favourite song to belt out?
😁

Retroladywriting Sat 07-Dec-24 11:32:36

Good morning from a windy and wet Somerset. We're slightly inland from the Red warning area, but we're in an Amber area. Pretty scary and noisy, but no damage in our garden - apart from a slightly wonky shrub, which Him Indoors has just staked and tied - bless him.

Apparently all roads around are pretty chokka with fallen trees and power lines and parts of our town have no power and most events have been postponed or cancelled, which is sad at this time of the year. No buses or trains either.

All in all though, I'm feeling very lucky that none of the above affects us personally, but feeling very sorry for others.

Stay safe everyone. smile

Grandmabatty Sat 07-Dec-24 11:44:35

FGT I will sing along to anything Christmas related! My aunt and I duet too. I love a karaoke and the rest struggle to prise the microphone from my hand. 😂

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 07-Dec-24 12:56:22

🩷 it Grandmabatty! You go girl …. 😁
