My DD1 in Cambridge has a little Christmas village that looks much the same as yours ginny, we always add something else to it each year when I visit as my youngest DGS loves it !

GrannyGravy13 Wed 11-Dec-24 07:45:48

Bellasnana I love your Christmas nails 🤶🏻

Good morning from a still dark but dry Suffolk where the day has started earlier than usual for us. My car is booked into the garage before my keep fitclass as there is a problem which DH,unusually, has been unable to solve.

In spite of the motor working and the washer bottle being full and the jets having been poked clean,no water comes out! I was told the wheel and wheel arch will have to come off for a thorough investigation! Cars in my view are all very well until they go wrong.

DH will take me and collect me from my class and then a friend I am meeting for lunch will pick me up from home to go to our favourite pub in the nearest market town. The garage may have a courtesy car for me but depends if one is back in time so all these vpcarefully arranged plans may not be needed if I have one.

Hope those feeling unwell anxious have the best day possible.

Good morning all. Dry and milder in Yorkshire today. The decluttering really overwhelmed me yesterday so I’m going on a trip to Harrogate to buy Christmas presents and more cards today for a break. Hugs to all those who are poorly or in pain. Take care all. Xx

Good morning from mid Essex, it’s getting light and I think it’s grey outside. I’m in the loft bedroom here, so have no idea what is going on downstairs. The morning “routine” changes every day, depending on who is working in the office and who is working from home! I just keep out of the way until someone brings me a cup of coffee, which is my signal to get up!
I do admire all the activities in your posts, gm I haven’t cooked that many biscuits & cakes in years! And karma your determination to get your allotment in shape is amazing. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to do more gardening in the spring, when my hips allow me to be more mobile.
Have the best day possible everyone. Thoughts are with those in pain, both physical and mental.

Kalu Wed 11-Dec-24 07:48:45

Good morning all. -2deg. frosty, calm and dry with sunshine forecast for Glasgow today.

Physio yesterday when it was decided I need a course of ongoing physiotherapy. I asked for her thoughts on acupuncture and she recommended a local acupuncturist whom we both know has a good reputation so it’s on today’s to do list to make an appointment.
A trip to Waitrose yesterday where I bought the reduced price offer on six bottles of Whispering Angel which I enjoy a glass of in the evening, an early christmas present to myself. Next stop was Home Bargains where I snagged two reduced 6ft. potted, prelit, faux christmas trees to place at either side of the garage doors. Very pleased with the effect🎄🎄

Have the best day possible all.

Wait until I make the 6 dozen mince pies next week! 😂😂😂

Jaxjacky Wed 11-Dec-24 07:59:32

Morning from a dry, chilly S Hants, this week is very grey. Yesterday we visited my brother and his wife, he cooked and we had a thoroughly lovely three hours or more. So not remotely industrious as some on here as we did little else!
Well done on your walk Ashcombe, slowly does it. Pretty nails Bella, MrJ will be painting mine in glittery red, I’ve never had Christmas nails, we’ll see how that goes!
I’ve got a handyman coming this morning to box in some pipes, one of those jobs I’ve ignored for years that I now need done. Tomorrow will be tree day.

Redcar Wed 11-Dec-24 08:00:58

greyduster I have never put air in the tyres of my car, my DH used to do all that. Since he died, my friendly and efficient car mechanic does it for me! Sad to say, although I know how to fill the car with fuel, my hands are too weak to squeeze the filler hose, so DD2 does it for me. Feeling decrepit!

Good morning, late again for me, from my dark, calm patio where my garden mirrors are reflecting the overcast sky. A magical time of the year as I love winter.

My photographer sons hits a slow time of year professionally till February so is going back to being an Amazon driver. Much hilarity last time he did this, exploring the hidden far reaches of west Cornwall. Sat Nav only takes him as far as the roads. The hilarity comes from therein to finding the doors/hidey holes/nearest neighbours.

Today I'm on the school run for my other son's children and then tea with them. Mostly I enjoy sitting on their wonderful plush sofa watching the little ones dash around donning their Beavers and Gym Club kit. The seven-year-old is also in a dance class now, which will be good for his boundless energy. Home later on an evening bus among university students, always a heartening experience though they will soon be vanishing to their homes for Christmas.

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Visiting a DF this morning for coffee and a quiet afternoon. I should get a pre op phone call today as I think my cataract will be done on the 20th. I have got a feeling I will be cancelling a few things as there is so much illness going around.
Georgesgran so sorry for your friends distress.
gM. I used to make vast quantities of mince pies but that was 40 years ago!!
Ash glad you managed the steps
Best wishes

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 11-Dec-24 08:13:17

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I had better get up as my hair appointment is at 10 am! Roots - I’m still not ready to embrace the grey - and a cut. It is the WI Christmas meal tonight, which should be fun. The restaurant provides feee transport there and back.

Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Wed 11-Dec-24 08:23:13

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -4° and foggy. A very wintery look. GrandMattie I wish I had half your energy! Bellasnana very seasonal and pretty nails. Ash in glad you managed the steps and a walk.
Yesterday dgs2 was on good form. Lots of painting done by him, games of kerplunk (his latest fancy), playing hide and seek and feeding me plastic food. Dgs1 has a very good day at school but was very tired. I think both boys need a rest. They have very busy weekdays and lots of at weekends too.
Today I will stir my stumps and go to the retail park for some Christmas shopping. Then I'll get these blooming cards written. I am the queen of prevarication! I need to stop off at Tesco for the Christmas edition of the Radio Times for me and DD. It's a tradition for me and dd keeps it going too. Then later gammon steak and mashed potatoes with broccoli for an easy dinner. Maybe added cauliflower cheese. Tomorrow I'll go to town to the bookshop for the last of the presents. Have a good day all

So many typing errors!😱

Good Morning everyone, have the best day you can and keep warm.

Gingster Wed 11-Dec-24 08:32:45

Good morning all and I’ve slept later than usual. It’s very grey out there.

Yesterday was busy. My friend cancelled our coffee meetup as she was poorly, so I went to the festive play reading which was fun and I chatted to a lady I’d never met before , over coffee and nibbles. I liked her very much. Funny how one gels with some and not so much with others.

I took sandwiches into my poorly friend (cataracts) and we passed the time for an hour before I headed off to Bridge.
The traffic coming home at 5 o’clock was horrendous.

Today I have my Christmas lunch with the Bridge club,
Dh will go shopping for a Turkey and Ham along with other bits and pieces. 🤞.

Take care all 🌟

Good morning everyone from a dull and grey Northampton, at least it is dry. Hate to say it but the weather suits the occasion, as it is my neighbour's funeral today at lunchtime. I was so glad that my dear DH's funeral turned out to be on a lovely sunny day.

Yesterday had a good walk in good company, followed by coffee and chat. I hadn't been for a few weeks so it was good to see everyone again. Stopped at the paper shop on the way home and paid my bill.

No other plans for today, but must ring a friend to see when I can go round with her Christmas present. Am planning on Saturday or Sunday.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Marydoll Wed 11-Dec-24 08:42:02

Good morning all, it's -2°C, with freezing fog. Yesterday all day, we had -3° and freezing fog. My trip to the surgery was very stressful, some drivers had no lights on at all, let alone fog lights. I could not believe the reckless driving of some people, who were not driving for the icy road conditions.

I've had little sleep, having had night terrors again. DH had to waken me up, I was screaming so loudly. It has left me very unsettled to say the least. I am always trapped in my childhood home, with someone trying to kill me. 😱

Another one who has bever put air in tyres, but that is because DH and I, both have an electric pump in our boot. (Does that sound smug? 😚) I have rarely had to use it but, it was invaluable on a Highland country road, in the middle of nowhere, when in a new car, the low pressure light came on!

Thank goodness, I have the hairdresser today. I left the appointment for an extra week, so that I would be fine for Christmas.

Hairdresser and pick up my pain patches, which always need ordered and cannot be ordered without a physical prescription. It always takes two trips, because they are CDs, its a pain.
(Excuse the pun.)

For those, who are feeling low 💐 and enjoy all the busyness and outings, you lucky people. Take care

I plan to chill for the rest of the day.

Good morning from Shropshire.Another dull breezy day forecast.

We have school pick up later, on the way we will call at The Range and hopefully buy a new kettle and toaster. This evening we will go to watch DGD reading in church.

Grandmabatty H is very tired too.On Friday morning when we took him to school he said please let me stay at home with you, I’m so tired I could break😢

Sounds like you are making good progress Ash💪🏼

Have the best day possible everyone🦩

Grandmabatty Wed 11-Dec-24 09:06:30

Susan poor H. I think it's a combination of general excitement at the season, lots of usual activities combined with nativity, Santa visits to the street on a tractor, parties etc, plus his first term at school. Not too long for tired children.

Annypop Wed 11-Dec-24 09:07:16

Good morning from a dull, dreary County Durham.
Yesterday we had the most delicious meal out with DS2. He's visiting from London where he works as a community nurse. He's just managed to get himself on the housing ladder after 7 years in the capital. We're absolutely thrilled for him as it's been no easy task. If he ever moves back up north he'll be able to purchase several homes!
We're off to Edinburgh tomorrow for a short break, so some packing to do shortly.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Litterpicker Wed 11-Dec-24 09:07:59

Good morning from a very frosty East Lothian.

I didn’t get as much done as planned yesterday. We were recovering from our great adventure on Monday when we went by bus to our nearest retail park. We are not quite up with Mizuna and others but DH and I agreed it is good for us not to have the car/campervan here for once. It is a good way to up our ‘steps’ with the walks to and from bus stops.

Yesterday I did manage to bake my one dozen Christmas muffins which will be iced today with royal icing and topped with a green icing holly leaf. I’ve tried baking in larger quantities but when it goes wrong it’s a bigger disaster 🫤

DH printed some Christmas cards with the linocut squares we made at a workshop in November - the shopping trip was mainly to get coloured inks. His looked great (though he frowned at them). Mine not so much - my artistic ability is less than the average 5 year old but I loved the workshop.

Today we are going to DD’s as support for DD as she has a demo of a wheelchair for consideration (I forgot to check with her but assume it is an electric one). She uses a mobility scooter at the moment but finds it awkward to manoeuvre in confined spaces and it doesn’t give her upper body any support.
We are also going to look at a sofa bed which I found on Gumtree. If it is suitable it could replace the very tiny and cheap sofa we bought in a hurry when we first got the flat here.

Thinking of all those in pain - Ash, Kalu and Oops, you all seem to be coping with new difficulties, and Redcar, recovering from hip op. I know many others feel they can’t keep mentioning their pain or think it’s not ‘bad enough’ to complain about - thoughts with you too.

hollysteers Wed 11-Dec-24 09:12:38

Good morning Mick and all from 5°C Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Nice turnout at music club yesterday. I read a poem about procrastination, and announcing it, could hardly pronounce it😁. I’m looking forward to getting back to singing again next month after my op’. Just humming at the moment to get myself prepared.

Quiet day today, finishing cards. More people pop into my head as I do them and I’m frightened to look at my address book as trying to cut down on them this year. Wrote a letter to a friend from when I was fifteen, but no round robin as my late DH used to labour over and I used to pull his leg about. I wish I could see him at the dining room table writing his now…

Thoughts to all🌺

EkwaNimitee Wed 11-Dec-24 09:13:40

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather grey Carlisle.

A busy morning of laundry and vacuuming yesterday followed by a lazier afternoon. It was too frosty to garden and being out wouldn't have helped my achey body anyway.
Just before bedtime I idly checked the BBC website and was horrified to discover the Avanti trains between Scotland and London will be affected by strikes over Christmas on the major travelling days. Cue hurried late night rearrangements with the family...we are all getting together over the holiday including DS2 and family from Australia, probably a rare chance to get all the grandchildren in one place at the same time! It cannot be ruined by the inhumane actions of selfish train managers.

I will clean the bathrooms this morning and then we'll see....a bit of indoor exercise would be good, I want to keep mobile whilst avoiding going out in the cold. I see my GP next Monday, the surgery responded very promptly yesterday morning.

Beautiful nails, Bellasnana, they wouldn't stay long like that if I had them done, I'd soon ruin them!

Wishing you all the best possible day.

harrigran Wed 11-Dec-24 09:27:20

Good morning from a grey but dry NE.
Woken by workmen in the street again throwing fence panels on to a lorry. Their job has been made difficult by a neighbour parking six cars in the street and then disappearing. The rest of the neighbours were hoping they would call the police and have the cars shifted.
Sister and BIL are coming this afternoon and we will go shopping.
It is GD's carol service in Durham cathedral this afternoon, she is singing in the choir.
Take care all those who are poorly and have the best day you can.
