GM! Your nails take a bashing because you do so much work.

Sorry, but no! They have always been like that..l

Good morning from a balmy 1° on the Angus coast. My weather app tells me it's misty here but as I can even see the little fishing village 20 miles up the coast, I think the app is rather mistaken.
Bella I took was an admirer of your nails yesterday - really beautiful. Enjoy your little ones' concert.
Grandmattie a sux-year-old's hearing is never going to happen!
Your inconvenient room reminds me of the watercolour class set up by our local authority - in a room with no access to water! The upshot of that was six of us met in my conservatory for the next 20+ years!

This made me smile the other day Grammaretto

Good morning all and it’s only just getting light here in Essex.

Yesterday we had our Bridge club Christmas lunch. Restaurant was lovely, lots of chat an fun and laughter but the food was dire. Large platefuls of undercooked veg and the fish overdone and mushy. There were 25 of us so I don’t think they can manage large numbers. We do have the restaurant to ourselves so can play a few games , charades etc and they open up just for us but after three years of ‘sub standard food Somewhere different next year.

My niece in the Netherlands has had her second baby. She’s a university lecturer and travels the world . Goodness knows how she manages her life.

Today I have bowls and then will pop into town for a few more small presents. Then I should be done! I wrap as I buy so not much else to do. 🙏.

Take care all.🌟

Good morning from Durham. Another cool, cloudy day, but no rain forecast here.
I’m meeting my oldest friend for coffee this morning. One of her relatives rang me (out of the blue) on Sunday and broke her heart telling me how her husband had left her. I’ll have to remember everything she said to pass on.
The builder would like cash for the finished work and while I’m not too happy with that, I’ll go to the bank this afternoon and get it, so he can collect it tonight. It’s a good job and I’ve known him and his family for 40+ years.
My poorly friend had a CT scan yesterday and has been ‘referred back to clinic’. She’s to have a 24 hour ECG before her ‘oscopies’ can be rescheduled. However, her GP will see her on Tuesday to update her with the results of her first tests. It’s a worry, not helped by her DD going to pieces over it.
A bit of good news is that both my DDs saw our dentist yesterday - his final day before his early retirement and both had a chipped tooth repaired.

I feel a bit washed out to be truthful, but I’m honoured that others feel they can tell me their intimate hopes and fears.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning everyone from a very grey, damp and misty Northampton, a fine drizzle to last most of the day.

Was bitterly cold at my neighbour's funeral yesterday, many people there, and her daughters and grandchildren visibly very upset; her husband coping well greeting the many people there. It was a very simple service conducted by a celebrant, no hymns,.but lovely music and poetry. The hot drinks and food awaiting at the wake afterwards were very welcome.

Rang my friend when I got back and arranged to walk round on Sunday to deliver her Christmas present.

Out over lunchtime to a garden centre to meet dance class friends for coffee and lots of chat; may have a light lunch there.
Sainsbury's delivery between 5 and 6pm - I seem to have swapped with you, Kitty, as mine is usually in the morning!

Trusting all have a pleasant day.

Liberty Thu 12-Dec-24 08:00:35

Good morning from a dark and,as yet, still dry Suffolk although rain is forecast later.

I have my stretch class this morning and then I’m meeting 3 friends for our Christmas lunch together. We are meeting at a pub in Lowestoft which does good food and I shall pop into the town first and collect a couple of parcels from M&S after taking a holly wreath to place on my in-laws grave.

I used to make one in years gone by but have recently bought one from a tiny flower shop which uses only fresh greenery and no plastic decorations. I always add a few sprigs of rosemary from our bush for remembrance.

Wishing a peaceful day for all.

Thank you Redcar and GrannyIvy.I am sorry you had to deal with the same situation but you have made me feel relieved that it’s a common occurrence.I find it really upsetting. All she has left is the few things we have taken in and when they go missing I find it difficult. When my brother went in the other day one of the other residents had mum and dad’s wedding photo by her bed😭She is safe and well cared for and as happy as the situation allows but I feel as though she is in a very expensive prison😢

Grammaretto Thu 12-Dec-24 07:56:40

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I will must get out of my cosy bed!
My Helper says he keeps the heating on in his room all night! a soft Sassanach My bill will be huge but he has been a fantastic help with clearing my rooms for the plasterer starting next week.
Last night we sang Gaelic Christmas carols and a psalm in a converted church followed by mince pies and stollen.
My DD's birthday today. The year she was born was the only time I finished all the preparations in good time as she was due on 26th.
DH brought roses from the garden to the hospital. This year those same roses have been eaten by hungry deer.
Have you seen a chiropractor about your pain Kalu? Mine has helped me a lot. flowers
Wishing you all a good, trouble-free day.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 12-Dec-24 07:55:37

I love the art work on your nails too Bellasnana! Are they your own with gel or are they acrylic stick ones (a friend of mine has those with in-fills every alternate appointment- expensive here at £60 per month she was telling me yesterday!).

Good morning from a dark and dank Yorkshire. Did a supermarket shop yesterday afternoon and made a casserole for tea but did very little else as I’ve been feeling unwell for a few days. I think it’s stress re the decluttering. It’s taking far longer than I imagined and the house is in such a mess with the contents of the 17 huge boxes spread everywhere. Stacey Solomon makes it look so easy in the warehouse! I haven’t bought any Christmas presents yet so need to get on with that. Writing the cards today - will be a relief to have that done. Sorry to hear about the rake incident after all your hard work karmalady. You did well to keep going in the circumstances grandMattie how inconvenient for you. kalu hope you feel better soon, pain is so debilitating. Thinking of everyone who is struggling today. Take care all.

GrannyIvy Thu 12-Dec-24 07:47:33

I too remember my Mum in her care home and things moving from room to room and sometimes vanishing with no trace, it was sad to see. The staff did their best but Mum was in her own little world and seemed to cope with it. It is 4 years this month since I lost my Mum and lots of lovely memories ❤️ We will raise a glass to her. Mum always had a sherry at 12 mid day in her later years

NannyJan53 Thu 12-Dec-24 07:45:28

Good morning from a chilly but dry (so far) Black Country.

Thursday morning walk this morning. A walk around a local Country Park. There are so many different routes. Then coffee and chat at the cafe there.

An appointment this afternoon with my Building Society to review my savings.

gM I think some people are taking advantage of your good nature. You do so much, some probably take it for granted.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

brook2704 Thu 12-Dec-24 07:44:36

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s another cold frosty start to the day
All that walking certainly sounds very active and fit rosesandlilac if you’re struggling with walking it’s probably worth mentioning at the meds review
I’ve a couple of things to drop off at the post office and some food shopping to do today. Hopefully we’ll fit a walk in somewhere too.
Kalu 💐
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

cornergran Thu 12-Dec-24 07:43:38

Morning Mick, morning All. Haven’t looked out yet, we’re forecast a repeat of yesterday, grey and sometimes drizzly.

Thoroughly enjoyable Christmas lunch with our friends yesterday, a wander round a shop to settle it afterwards. They’re off home later, it will be very quiet here other than the noise of the washing machine and vacuum cleaner. Not the same at all.

Pleased you’re on the mend blossoming. Difficult times kalu flowers. Your community is very fortunate to have you grandmattie.

Must move and get my kitchen head on. Breakfast to cook. Can’t recall the last time I produced one. I’m so out of practice with this hostessing lark.

Thinking of all with personal mountains to climb. Have the best day you can everyone.

Ashcombe Thu 12-Dec-24 07:38:32

Good morning on yet another windy one in Torbay.

Cocodomol for the hip pain is making me very sleepy so I’ve decided to only take it at night (hence being late on parade!) and manage with paracetamol during the day.

I can just picture that lovely tree, Susan56 and can well imagine the distress of the children on seeing it being removed.

What impressive energy levels many of you have especially grandMattie and karmalady! My heart goes out to you, Kalu, having so much with which to cope. I hope the virtual support on here helps in some way.

I messaged two of my fellow players last night and they seem to be having a good run with The Wind in the Willows but are missing me as much as I miss them. But I know I wouldn’t have managed the show. ☹️

Have a good day, everyone! 🦩🥰🎄💐🦩

Redcar Thu 12-Dec-24 07:33:40

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, it’s getting light but I think another dull day is forecast, although slightly less cold. DD2 came with me for a walk yesterday, I managed to go a bit further, which was encouraging. By the evening my legs had stopped aching!
Lots of present deliveries yesterday and wrapped a few of them. The 9 year old helped when she came home from school.
DD1 is working from home today so I doubt I’ll get out today because she’s always so busy.
susan I remember when my mum was in a care home lots of her nice clothes disappeared despite being labelled. When my MiL was in a home they were a bit more careful to ensure she had her own things. I hope you can get it sorted out, it’s a distressing situation.
kalu I hope your pain eases soon and the brain fog clears.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Bellasnana Thu 12-Dec-24 07:33:08

grandMattie your hands are a lot more useful than mine.🤗

I had awful nails whilst bringing up four children and helping my late DH run our busy restaurant, so now having them done is a luxury I allow myself once a month.

Jax I’m sure yours will look lovely and having Mr J do them for you is a bonus.😊

Thanks to all for the kind comments.

GrannyIvy Thu 12-Dec-24 07:32:18

Good morning from a still dark Cambridgeshire.
Today I am off to Milton Keynes Christmas shopping with my DD2. She is still badly bruised from her accident last week so it will a gentle walk around and not an all day marathon shop!! I have bought a new shopping trolley to assist so we don’t have to carry anything heavy😂. I am looking forward to a lunch out and time together.

I continue to be amazed by Karma and GM Take care both of you x

Thinking of those struggling and sending my best wishes. I do hope everyone will have the best day possible 💐

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 12-Dec-24 07:29:27

Good morning all from south Manchester where it’s dark (natch) but dry with no fog or frost. I can’t ask Alexa what the temperature is as Himself is still snoozing beside me. I’ve had to make my own mug of Yorkshire Gold.

No real plans. Himself put up the twig tree in the hall, the coloured large pear shaped Christmas lights on the balcony and the bells with tartan ribbons in the main room while I was out having coffee with a friend. A nice surprise to come home to - not only that we now look festive but the pleasure in knowing he’s got the energy these days to do this. Boy did I used to take any such activity for granted. No more.

Hey Marydoll look what I bought yesterday in Thorntons! Yes - they’ve started stocking my stepfather’s favourites so I had to buy him some. He’ll be delighted!

Jaxjacky Thu 12-Dec-24 07:29:22

Good to see you Blossoming I’m sorry to hear you’ve been so rough.

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 12-Dec-24 07:27:31

Good morning everyone.

Yesterdays Christmas lunch was very good, an amazing Roast far too much for most of us to eat so a lot of wasted food, someone nabbed the left over meat for their dog, this was presented in a large foil Swan shaped package, a nice touch.
I wore some summer shoes to accommodate my toe, I didn’t think anyone would notice but the other Women did!
After every course the men moved around one chair so we ‘ladies’ had someone different to talk too, a very good idea as I only knew 2 other people.
Christmas decs go up today, the window cleaner is due this morning and a shopping delivery at lunch time.
Apart from that I can put my feet up and read a book.

Hope everyone has a good day, hugs for those who are unwell. It would be nice to see the sun, but I don’t hold out much hope, the Easterly winds are a bit chilly.

loopyloo Thu 12-Dec-24 07:25:36

Good morning from Lancashire. It’s still dark and the central heating has just come on so should be nice and warm by the time I get up. I am still feeling the after effects of Covid but am on the mend after what has been a horrible experience. Have a good day all. 🌹

Jaxjacky Thu 12-Dec-24 07:16:02

Morning, 3 cold and I’m expecting cloud and grey today.
The carpenter yesterday did a good job boxing in some pipes but was in and out for cutting, it was cold.
Today is stretch class then at last my ear clear out. MrJ will get the tree in and the lights on while I’m out, later he’ll paint my fingernails in glittery red. They won’t be nearly as lovely as yours bella
gMattie you have a lot of patience and perseverance.
Oh kalu I can’t imagine🌹
