Borrheid lovely to hear from you. ❤️
I know that they are so good to your mum. X

Marydoll Waitrose do chocolate gingers. They are my guilty pleasure at Christmas. My children always bought them for me and they were all mine- cos nobody else liked them! I have ginger preserve most mornings on my toast too. Apparently my gran was a great fan of ginger so maybe I get it from her. My mother is popping over to a certain hairdresser this afternoon- I’m wondering if they will offer her tinted eyebrows! My sister is visiting her from Limerick so that should liven up the appointment. I am so frustrated that I can’t travel to see them. All quiet here in very dank and dark Kent. Finished all my proofreading projects for the moment so back to reading for pleasure. I’m finally tackling “The Ink Black Heart” all 1200 pages - can’t read it in bed as I can’t hold it up.
Hope all the GNers have a good day!

Usedtobeblonde, thanks. I did spy Beech's the other day, but they were creams. DH only likes the crystallised ginger ones and turned his nose up, when I showed him them.
So ungrateful!
Beech's used to do the crystallised ginger ones. I think they are an acquired taste.

Usedtobeblonde Thu 12-Dec-24 11:38:58

Just remembered also on Amazon.
I had them sent to me as a gift.

Usedtobeblonde Thu 12-Dec-24 11:23:41

Marydoll we can get chocolate gingers by a company called Beech.
They are available at some , quite a few, garden centres which have food departments.
I have also seen them in the large mill outlets we have locally but perhaps you don’t have those.

A bracing morning here. Essential chores done and having a coffee looking out at the robins pecking the feeder in minus 6 degrees.
Good wishes to all.

Marydoll Hotel Chocolat have chocolate gingers. I have just bought a few.

Thank you so much!!! That has saved me making them.

A late good morning from a cold but dry NE.
A bad start to the day as my BIL has just rung to say my sister is in hospital. She fell downstairs and has several injuries, at present waiting for a head scan.
Nothing planned for today. Will just be waiting for updates from BIL.

Beechnut Thu 12-Dec-24 09:51:03

Good morning everyone from Severnside. It’s a cold one and I’m so glad the solstice is not far away. I’m getting up later these dark mornings.

I hand delivered a few cards yesterday and stopped to have a brief chat with one of the deliveries. It was a nice catch up but chilled my bones.

I then went shopping and my bags were very heavy from boot to door and putting shopping away is not a job I like.

Today I’ve a few things to get done so will plod through them as the day goes by. I’ll never be like GM and Karma.

Have a good day all 🎄

I used to have my hair done regularly in Málaga Bellasnana as it was SO much cheaper! Now as we go there less frequently I still like to pop into the salon (it’s handy too - literally outside the main door f our apartment block!) and enjoy a wash and blow for only €10!

Trying again having posted this on the wrong thread!

Good morning from cold and frosty South Lanarkshire.

Kalu I do feel for you, pain medication makes me very fuzzy headed too. Hope you feel better soon. flowers

Your energy levels put me to shame gM

Can’t remember if I commented on your nails Bella but they are fabulous.

I’m off to meet another Lanarkshire Gransnetter this morning, looking forward to it.

If any Scottish grans are interested there’s a little snippet this evening on Craft Christmas at Beechgrove. It was filmed a few weeks ago, talking about our yarn group’s Christmas Angel project. Great fun to see how the programme is made, the team was with us for over four hours but will probably result in a four minute clip.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning all from a very cold Glasgow.

Kalu, I'm so sorry to hear how much you are struggling. 😢 Roses, I hope you feel a bit better today. It is good to see you popping in Blossoming. I am saddened to hear of your struggles.

This extreme cold is affecting me very badly, little sleep again, due to my chest problems. and high pain levels. If I increase my opoid dosage, I will be unable to function 🥴 and I am not going down that road.
Poor DH, I was going to decant to the spare room, then realised that the bed was covered in Christmas presents. 😔

Georgesgran, I love the picture! We are hardy folk up North!

I did manage to get to the hairdresser's yesterday. What a tonic it was.
A former parent came in, whom I hadn't seen for years. She used to make the most beautiful wedding dresses, then decided to become a teacher!
Her son was one of the reasons that I decided to go down the SEN qualifications route. There was little or no support for those children, who were dismissed as difficult.
An ex classmate also arrived. There was so much hilarity, when the owner offered to tint our eyebrows as a treat. Three times she asked, but I didn't hear. ( A bit ironic, given my complaints about DH.)
Eventually everyone in the salon, shouted in unison , G. is going to tint your eyebrows . I must say, I am very pleased with my free treatment!

FGT, all the supermarkets here sell Buchanan's sweets. My favourites are Chocolate Italian Creams, However, they are rarely in stock. I hope your stepfather enjoys his treat.
I have been searching high and low for chocolate gingers for DH, but no-one seems to stock them. Thorntons no longer make them. I may be forced to make my own.

I am unable to do much today, my limitations at the moment are so frustrating! However, my beloved Dollie will be here after school, I am so looking forward to seeing her. 😍

Have the best day, you can folks.

Grandmabatty Thu 12-Dec-24 08:47:56

grannygravy I'm glad The Imp made it to his trip. I hope he feels a lot better now.

FriedGreenTomatoes2

I love the art work on your nails too Bellasnana! Are they your own with gel or are they acrylic stick ones (a friend of mine has those with in-fills every alternate appointment- expensive here at £60 per month she was telling me yesterday!).

Thank you ☺️. They are my own with gel polish . The little lass who does them for me paints the nail art on with tiny weeny brushes, don’t know how she does it but she’s talented and patient!

I pay €27 once a month. It’s cheaper here as is having your hair done. €10 for a wash and blow dry. Is it similar in Spain or are they pricey? If I lived in the UK I couldn’t afford it!😄

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 12-Dec-24 08:41:53

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I haven’t quite got up yet!

My hairdresser gave me a good haircut yesterday and did my roots. In the evening it was the WI Christmas meal in a nearby village. The restaurant provides free transport to and from the venue. The meal was ‘ok’. The meat was delicious but the vegetables were cold! Someone said that the plates should have been hot.

Today we are buying the tree. We will put it to soak overnight and I’ll go through all the decorations. Some date from when we were first married in 1976 and lived in Seychelles!

Have a good day everyone.

hollysteers Thu 12-Dec-24 08:40:34

Good morning Mick and all from 4°C northwest coast.
Decided not to go to the usual lunchtime concert yesterday as it was a local choir I didn’t fancy. Carried on messing about with my handmade cards.

Just a quiet day. I was all set to watch “Maria” about Maria Callas, but it’s not on Netflix until next month.

Flying DD on standby at Heathrow yesterday, which means packing for either freezing weather or Barbados as she won’t know where she is going until the last moment.

Thoughts to Kalu, Blossoming Susan Ash and all with worries 🌺

EkwaNimitee Thu 12-Dec-24 08:34:03

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where we have a pale blue sky and pretty pink-tinged little clouds.

I have been awake since 3am, riddled with pain and stiff, nothing got me back to sleep, I didn't feel dozy till it was time to get up but couldn't stay in bed as it makes the stiffness worse. I've just now managed to get around in an upright position!

I've got a plumber due today, time unknown, I have a radiator problem. Better go, I'll get stuck into something, someone's bound to turn up in the middle of it. I'm a great believer in s*d's law!

Best wishes everyone especially all you poorlies.

Taichinan Thu 12-Dec-24 08:32:51

Sorry - that Post wasn't meant to happen!
Kalu a hug and flowers for you. One day at a time.
Susan I can imagine a mix-up with clothing is inevitable, but wandering photographs are not acceptable!
Kalu as Jax said, lucky it was your shed window that was broken by your fork handle ('four candles' anyone 😁) and not your nose!
Today is Thursday tai chi from which I shall sneak away quietly and early for a hair appointment followed by a quick lunch and family present exchange with my niece, followed by a visit to M&S to take back a jacket I had bought for DGD1 - DD doesn't think she'd like it. I'll be lucky to get home before dark!!.
Anyway, the sun must have risen as the clouds have turned a pretty shade of pink, so I must start dashing in search of my tail. Have good day all 🎄🎁🎶

monk08 Thu 12-Dec-24 08:31:41

Good morning all from the Black country where it is dry after overnight rain.
Late today DH still sleeping his first undisturbed night in nearly 3wks constant coughing keeping him awake.
Finally put my tree up.
Present wrapping today and I need to get some more batteries forgot them yesterday.
Will read everyone's happenings after I've made me a cuppa.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and I hope there is some improvement with the poorlies ☀️

GrannyGravy13 Thu 12-Dec-24 08:28:59

Good morning everyone hope to grey outside but not windy yippee !

Off to the hairdressers this morning for the works full head high/low lights and a cut.

This evening we are going to an Italian restaurant for an early dinner (5pm) with DD, The Imp and 9yr old and then off to the theatre to see a pantomime (Santa’s Wish)

The Imp had a brilliant time at the Zoo yesterday, met Santa’s reindeer and all the children came home with a reindeer teddy 🦌

Take care 🤶🏻🎄

luluaugust Thu 12-Dec-24 08:28:41

Good morning from grey W Kent. Gardener arriving soon and I need to collect some prescriptions but otherwise a slow day, most of the Christmas things I need to do are done.
Kalu flowers
Bella love the nails.
All the best everyone

GrannySomerset Thu 12-Dec-24 08:28:30

Grey and cool but dry, which is a blessing after so much rain - gives the ground time to dry out a bit before the next dousing. Mince pie baking the highlight today, I think but nothing else planned. Wish I felt more energetic but find I can do very little without feeling guilty, which is worrying.

GrannyIvy Thu 12-Dec-24 08:21:40

Susan 💐

Grandmabatty Thu 12-Dec-24 08:21:29

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -2° and cloudy. Kalu constant pain wears you down.💐 Susan that sounds hard.
Yesterday I managed to buy most of the Christmas presents I had still on my list. I came home and did some ironing, hoovering and washed floors. Then wrote all the remaining Christmas cards.
Today I'm going to town to the book shop for literary related presents and that will be me nearly done. I'll post the cards on the way back and then wrap some presents. My dining room is chaotic just now with boxes everywhere. I had a very restless night with various aches. Two lots of paracetamol were needed. So I'll take things easy this afternoon. Have a good day t
