The Chinese businessman, described as a close confidant of Andrew, has lost an appeal against a decision to bar him from the UK on the grounds of national security.

The appeal judges said this man held an unusual degree of trust from a senior member of the Royal family who was prepared to enter into business activities with him.

Wonder how much his mother left him?

Anniebach Fri 13-Dec-24 21:53:02

The media has always said he was the Queens favourite, this rumour started in the sixties when it was accepted the press could and did criticise her

Having had a relative that did things that made us feel embarrassed I can imagine a bit about how the RF feels, but without the publicity.

At least he serves a useful purpose as a talking point here on GN.

I feel sorry for his daughters.

Oh dear, Prince Andrew is such a liability to the Royal firm

Time for him to become a recluse, no money from the public purse, let him live off of what’s in his bank, I am sure he is not short of a bob or two…

Andrew is not a working royal so doesn’t receive any money from the public purse. I believe King Charles pays for his security as the late Queen used to, I would imagine he promised his mother he would do this.

Anniebach Fri 13-Dec-24 22:42:43

I very much doubt that Charles would put his brother in danger

paddyann54 Fri 13-Dec-24 22:44:03

I think they are all tarred with the same brush…Charlie took a bagful of cash from a Middle Eastern leader….for a charity!! Then there’s their scam of taking money OFF charities they are supposed to be working for….Andrew is thick ..he got caught the others are wily and sly ..and too good at their game of fleece anyone who believes Royalty is superior to them.

Prince Andrew is terrible at choosing friends

"Monarch to monarch". The monarch's entire estate is left to the next monarch. It's a system put in place to be most efficient with regard to inheritance tax.

Ask his Navy crew what they think of him!!!.He is a pompous, arrogant and greedy man and dangerous because of , no wonder his ex wife is still on board, she knows too much as do his family. What liabilities. Turf him out and cut off every penny, he's more than enough stashed.

Andrew doesn’t choose them, they target him 😉

Brahumbug Sat 14-Dec-24 08:22:37

The trouble is, they don't pay inheritance tax and the wills are sealed for 100 years, despite the fact that wills for literally everyone else are public documents.

Smileless2012 Sat 14-Dec-24 09:07:59

He has no power, no say in anything of any importance and I very much doubt any knowledge of anything that could jeopardise national security.

A lot of fuss about nothing IMO.

Casdon Sat 14-Dec-24 09:15:07

He’s a weak and foolish man. I agree with Smileless that it’s unlikely he has imparted anything of major importance - but he is nonetheless an embarrassment to his family and the UK’s reputation. His poor daughters have a lot to put up with.

Smileless2012 Sat 14-Dec-24 09:16:43

He's a gift that keeps on giving for the anti royal brigade.

Casdon Sat 14-Dec-24 09:28:58

He’s certainly taking from the Royal Family’s reputation. I wish he’d accept Adelaide Cottage to relieve his money issues, and accept that he will never have a public role again, then he should fade into a graceful obscurity.

Anniebach Sat 14-Dec-24 09:31:23

He and his wife seem to need 30 bedrooms

Yes, totally agree. He has no need to be knocking around in a place with 30 bedrooms. Do us all a favour and disappear into obscurity.

His mother’s favourite. A charmer in his youth.
Now?
A bit of an entitled prat aka “Do you know who I am?”

Remember when Andrew rammed closed park gates with his very expensive Range Rover to avoid a mile’s detour home?
Entitled prat.

or sprayed white paint over press personnel and cameras,
or his shameful remarks at Lockerbie ? years ago, but he
doesn’t improve
I wonder if he had married the more serene Katharine Stark she would have calmed him down rather, but hey ho that RN ship has well and truly sailed.
Sadly, the galumphing Fergie fed/feeds his entitlement,
skin like a rhino.
I agree that he should be exiled somewhere isolated where
he cannot do any harm, politically, internationally, commercially, is not a thorn in the King’s side, is out of
sight of the public, and take his wife with him.

Currently occupied by William and family

Calendargirl Sat 14-Dec-24 10:09:27

I heard on the radio this morning that he has to pay for his own security.

If that’s true, Charles doesn’t then.

I know he (Andrew) had to start paying for his daughters security years ago.

FrankandEarnest Sat 14-Dec-24 10:34:29

For those surprised that Andrew needs 30 bedrooms
in a house which is unnecessarily large, take a look at
Bagshot Park, also part of Windsor Great Park, home
of Edward and Sophie, their two children, 120 rooms !!

Anniebach Sat 14-Dec-24 10:39:13

Do not Edward and Sophie own their home ?

MissInterpreted Sat 14-Dec-24 10:41:54

Anniebach

Do not Edward and Sophie own their home ?

No, it is merely leased to them by the Crown Estate.
