Just lovely to wake up and read all your Christmas posts. Going for breakfast granola and tea right now and then plan to drive the two miles to the sea and walk along the beautiful path there - not on the shingle as too hard work today! Back some time to cook duck breast and veges, a mini Christmas pud and a glass of wine. Will be contacting loved ones by phone or email. I do hope you have a calm day of contentment and cheer. I am all packed up ready to drive to church then on to my son’s( only 12 miles). Lunch at his in-laws, who are lovely, then overnight with son and (grown up) family.
I enjoyed a quiet reflective Christmas Eve, especially Carol from Kings.
Have an enjoyable day, however you are spending it.

I’m lucky there are three of us this year - it’s hard if you’re on your own - a very long day. Someone mentioned TV. My tip, if you’re feeling lonely - is to not watch any Christmas TV and watch comedy films instead 😊. Also the ballet on BBC2 in the afternoon each year. We used to do that when there just two of us and missing the child. It’s usually quite inspirational and takes you out of yourself.

Here - the teenager has just rejected his presents. Oh well. He did get some money as well.

A chat is a small request . I go to another forum where an alcoholic man has admitted he killed someone in a fit of rage. I gather his soul is in turmoil and I can't think of worse loneliness.

Just enjoyed a walk around our local lake and a coffee at a local cafe. It was lovely to find it open!!! simple pleasure but oh so welcome!!!

This is my first Christmas on my own as my DH is in a care home and we are estranged from our only D.

I have few friends, one is away and the others never even asked what I was doing. They have text to say have a good one though!

I am feeling a lot like Billy no mates, but on the other hand I would hate to be invited anywhere out of pity.

FishandChips15 - thinking of you and the many others on here. Thank you for telling us. Am sitting eating my roast duck meal with a glass of red after a walk along the beach. So hope you can visit him soon and find contentment somehow.

Happy Christmas to all. I hope you are enjoying your day, however it is spent. I am with daughter, her New Man (they're both widowed) and their three teens and two twenties. Quiet it is not! I find the lack of 'quiet' quite difficult as I am very deaf. (Deafness is another kind of loneliness). Conversation for me is non-existent in the mayhem! I haven't caught up with all the posts, but it's great to hear that some of you are out there making the most of the good weather. I am sitting quietly in the sun in the corner of the living room, cosy in a new Christmas present jumper.

I hope feeling lonely isn't taking too much of a toll to you. I admit, I'm not alone but I feel infinitely lonely. It's one of those paradoxes of life- you can have people around you, but that doesn't make you feel spiritually accompanied. The other way around can also be true- you can be alone but not feel lonely. I think I would have preferred the latter somehow...

Taichinan thank you for your kind comment. I can visit DH anytime, but it is so depressing and he is deteriorating.

Good afternoon everyone I hope you have all got through the day without being too lonely. Today has been a quiet one but I did enjoy it. I spoke to the grandchildren via FaceTime and so glad the Xmas gifts hit the spot. They were very excited this morning I was exhausted hearing them. I am lucky as there were 2 of us but in the past have been on my own. Sat now watching the railway children return and will be asleep before the end. I am thinking of you all. Merry Christmas,

Hello everyone, hope today has been OK for most of us! I had a nice walk by the sea, and felt very thankful that I didn’t have to worry about basting a huge turkey! Some to my daughter and grandson on FaceTime (she’s at her in-laws) and about to read for a while before rustling up a baked potato with a quick cook turkey steak! So glad the shortest day is past and it’s still light at 4:15 with a stunning sunset here in Merseyside.

Heĺlo everyone. I hope you had s gpod day whether alone/ lonely- we know they are not the same thing. I enjoyed the King's speech. Enjoyed a roasted brussel sprout recipe, lamb and the trimmings. Simple and delicious pleasures. An unventful day. What more could i want? Warm greetings to you all and thank you for keeping the light on.

Managing to get though it. Very hard though. Pretending you're ok when you are anything but. The lovely young staff in the cafe this morning have no idea what they meant to me!. If you are on your own or feel atone, well, you are not.
