Good morning from a dry NE where the sun is starting to shine.
Had a lazy weekend where I did nothing but watch TV.
I think I must have had something that triggered diverticulitis because I was in great discomfort.
SIL travelling to the UK today, fingers crossed the trains are running to timetable.
Sister is still incapacitated after her fall downstairs, she can't do anything for herself it is really distressing.
Rang my sister in Germany yesterday, it was her 84th birthday, she had been out to lunch with ten friends, she has a good social life despite living on her own.
Hairdresser coming at 10am, just a trim and blow dry.
Have a good day.

My heart goes out to you, Primrose. Life changes in breath doesntit.
All the good wishes and love winging to you all.

I can empathise somewhat with your talking to your mum Primrose53. My late mum loved Himself and every time we set off for Christie’s I tell her photograph on the bookcase and ask her to watch over us and keep my darling man well. Anyone would just think I’m daft so I don’t say I do this.

Sending my very best wishes to you in the hope of steady and sustained progress for your own husband. Sometimes a curveball in life really does make us pause and appreciate all we have, that we used to take for granted.

Grandmabatty 😁 you’ll end up wondering how you ‘ever found the time’!

Ash sorry to be dim but what’s ‘D.V’?

Not dim at all, FGT2!

It stands for Deo Volente, Latin for God willing.
(Other medical meanings are available!)

Morning all, glad you asked ASH that question FGT2 - your post popped up as I was trying v hard to work out what DV might stand for...like you say 'every day is a school day' I'd have been pondering for a long time and would never have guessed it!

Christmas is slowly arriving in our house but Im not really 'feeling it' ... yet.

Have as good a Monday as you can folks, thoughts to those feeling unwell, or for whom this time of year is difficult. x

Good morning all. A windy and wet day in Glasgow.

Not much on today which is fine by me. No chance of doing anything outdoors so I will keep myself busy indoors with whatever is on the never ending to do list.

The end of your daycare era Grandmabatty but time now to be there for your DGSs at a more leisurely pace. I hope DGS2 settles well into nursery.
My heart goes out to you and your DH Primrose. I sincerely hope your DH shows signs of improvement soon. I remember only too well the date life as we knew it drastically changed. Look after yourself too.

Have the best day possible all. My thoughts to all going through difficult times.

I don't post on this thread but always read it.
I just want to reach out to Primrose to say I'm so sorry for her situation. Of course the feeling that your mum is watching over you gives comfort.
Everything can change in just a heartbeat and nothing is normal anymore.
I hope your husband makes steady progress and I wish you both well.
Keeping you both in my thoughts.

It’s what we dread, isn’t it… our happy lives suddenly falling apart. My heartfelt sympathies, Primrose and I wish your husband a steady recovery

Lovely to be able to read all your posts today from a chilly but so far dry day in North Yorkshire. I have had to be in a hotel for 8 weeks as there was a leak behind the tiles in behind the loo inn the bathroom. This meant that the complete bathroom had to be removed and it has been very stressful to say the least. The leak had been undetected for a long time obviously so it meant everything removed, the sanitisation people then followed by three weeks of big driers going non stop night and day. No loo, and no hot water or electrics meant no option to stay here, and the mess an chaos you can imagine. As it was not a planned situation I just had to leave with what things I could gather up at the time , so along with all this going on things like getting the car taxed and MOT done, and going for another cancer treatment has been difficult. So, today I am grateful that at last I have a loo that works , but no electrics done yet so have cold water and that is all. Added to that my back has been extremely painful and the only hotel I could get a room in, was a listed building. Lovely staff , but no lift and because they had obviously got more and more bookings , I have had to move bedrooms several times, and they have no room at the inn all the christmas week.! I may have to look elsewhere ,there are several farms nearby so may see if there is room in a stable somewhere. I think that there is quite a precedent for that !!! . Added to which the WiFi and my mobile phone were not working in the hotel well etc etc. So this is my first day that I can at least spend a little time here. Hopefully I will have some hot water and electrics done, and the hall carpet ripped up very soon, so I have done nothing towards any christmas shopping or decorations or even cards as havent found my address book. Ah well good to be able to do a little catching up. Hope you all have a good day

After 10 days of both dh and me being laid low with flu, I’m feeling able to post again. Thank goodness for Amazon and Sainsburys deliveries so Christmas will happen.
Some sad posts today, sending a hug to you all

* Primrose* flowers
I have just had a message from Germany to say that my sister is in hospital with a broken nose and one of her vertebrae.
We are all in shock because younger sister fell down the stairs the other day and can still not use her arms and legs.

Family are on the phone telling me to wrap myself in cotton wool and to take care.

GrandmaC47 Mon 16-Dec-24 11:50:52

Harrigran 💐 stay safe.

Good morning (just). I have only recently started reading Gransnet regularly but there are one or two things which puzzle me. Who is Michael? He doesn’t appear to post anywhere else on this site. I am amazed he always gets up so early! I don’t emerge until 8am.

RosiesMaw2 Mon 16-Dec-24 12:01:54

Michael12 or Mick always starts the Good Morning thread which he initiated some years ago.
From what he says he lives alone in Brackley and enjoys his bus trips to Bicester and Buckingham where he meets up with old friends.
I understand his passion is cycling (and that he even cycled competitively in his youth?) which he now enjoys watching on TV.
Have I done you justice Mick ?

Thank you so much everybody for your lovely messages and kind words. I wasn’t expecting that and it’s truly heartwarming. ❤️
