Those little houses look too good to demolish and eat grandMattie!

Grammaretto you must live in a mansion! That one room (a spare for you) is the size of our ‘ecerything’ room in our little apartment - and it houses our kitchen area too! Bijou space. 😁

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 17-Dec-24 07:48:45

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

What beautiful little houses GM! Oops - your toe 😩

I am meeting friends for lunch - we’re each taking something. I made a Pavlova yesterday so will top it with lashings of fruit and cream this morning.

I am hoping that OH will hand deliver the local Christmas cards while I’m out. I probably do 90% of the preparation for Christmas, but I try not to get too miffed!

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone from a misty, foggy Northampton, but should stay dry today.
Had a nice lunch out yesterday with two friends, was stuffed so didn't need to cook last night, just had toast for tea.

A morning of pottering ahead,.then out for our group health walk after lunch.
A cottage pie is thawing out for dinner tonight.

Have a good day everyone.

Grammaretto Tue 17-Dec-24 07:52:28

Just read your post from yesterday Primrose and feeling for you.
You describe it so vividly.
I hope your DH recovers.

Marydoll Tue 17-Dec-24 07:54:12

Good morning all, 8°C here in Glasgow. Thank goodness the wind has died down, I find it so unsettling.

🌟 for you GM.

I hope your toe heals soon, Oops.

So much sadness on the GM thread, today. 💐

I wish you all a pleasant day, folks.

Bonnybanko Tue 17-Dec-24 07:59:11

Good morning everyone I struggled to fall asleep last night and awakened later this morning.
It’s a cold dreich day here on the east coast of Fife, however I’m going to get all decked up it’s my clubs Christmas lunch today with entertainment and it’s going to be fun I can’t wait

Enjoy today my friends as best you can

Taichinan Tue 17-Dec-24 08:08:44

Good morning from the Angus coast where rain is forecast all day. The sun doesn't rise here until 8.42 so the sky is only just beginning to lighten.
Primrose I am so very sorry for you and your DH. May today be one of improvement flowers
Lovely little houses grandmattie and I'm sure your neighbour enjoyed decorating her one.
Not a lot to report from here. Just spent the day wading through miles of wrapping paper - just the last family's gifts to do - probably two days' worth at the rate I go! - and then I can start thinking of preparing to go away!
Tai Chi class this morning. Last one of the year for the Tuesday class so I have mince pies and Christmas cake at the ready.
I hope everyone has a day filled with little shafts of happiness, whatever you are doing 🎶🎁🎄

GrannyGravy13 Tue 17-Dec-24 08:09:09

Morning all, I woke just after 3am 🤷‍♀️

I need to (must) do the ironing today!

I also have to take The Imp and 9yr old to the dentist for their check up this afternoon (DD is at work)

Lovely gingerbread houses GM

Ouch Oops

Thinking of all with sadness and troubles (((hugs))) 🤶🏻🎄

GreatExpectations Tue 17-Dec-24 08:22:13

Good morning to you all. I'm a newby here and would like to let you all know that I'm finding your daily messages very informative and interesting.
Looking forward to joining in, in due course.

Gingster Tue 17-Dec-24 08:26:11

Good morning all and it only just getting light here in Essex.

Yesterday I met my old school pal for a coffee and enjoyed a long chat. We know everything about each other so lots of memories and laughter. When we were at school, we were always in trouble for ‘getting the giggles’ in class, working in London as teens , getting hysterical about other passengers on the train. Now at the age of 75 , we’re still the same . We must grow up! 🤣🤣🤣.

Today I’ll take my friends birthday present round and see how things are. Her Dh has advanced Parkinsons and is falling and deteriorating each day. Life is hard for them . Then I’m off to pick up my old neighbour for Bridge. She had a cataract op over two weeks ago and has been poorly ever since. 🫤.

I need to pick up an icing kit for DGD to decorate her gingerbread house. Your little cuties are lovely GM.

Primrose so sorry to hear about your DH. Life turns in a second. I do hope he recovers 🙏.

Thoughts those who find this time of year sad. 😢.
I hope your ceiling is completed today and you can get back to normal, Gramarretto.

Take care and have the best day you can. 🌟

Welcome GreatExpectations. You’ll find lots of friends here. 👋

A rather late good morning from a bright and calm Suffolk where DH and I have just surfaced and little dog has taken up her usual day time place behind the sofa next to the radiator.

It is DGS3 ‘s 11th birthday today. We handed over his presents when we saw them on Sunday so won’t see him today with school still in full swing around here.

Apart from wrapping the last of the presents and putting marzipan on the Christmas cake I have no other plans so a peaceful quiet day in prospect. I mentioned to DH last night that I might just put marzipan on the cake and not ice it. He was horrified and said he loved icing and wanted the Robin and the Father Christmas and the reindeer on the cake ‘as always’. Some of these decorations were my mother’s,and not plastic. Hope I can locate them!

GrannySomerset Tue 17-Dec-24 08:35:34

Wonderful Cleaner due shortly so need to be ready. I will sort out the fridge ready for restocking and make a list of what is needed. No other plans for today but doubtless tasks will emerge as the day goes on. Sorry so many are having a trying time and hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Jaxjacky Tue 17-Dec-24 08:53:37

Welcome GreatExpectations where are you?

baubles Tue 17-Dec-24 08:55:41

I’ve just caught up with yesterday’s thread. Primrose, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. Sending prayers for his recovery. flowers

harrigran Tue 17-Dec-24 08:58:43

Good morning from a dry but grey NE.
Yesterday was a very worrying day, having heard at 9am that my elder sister was in hospital in Germany with a fractured vertebra and a broken nose. No information as to how it happened just that she was to have an operation.
Received a message late last night to say she was in recovery.
My sister has no family of her own so now DD is talking of not coming to the UK for Christmas but going to care for her aunt. SIL arrived in the UK yesterday so he may return to Brussels to be with DD and accompany her to Germany.
Spent all day washing and ironing, kept myself busy.
Have a good day.

EkwaNimitee Tue 17-Dec-24 09:01:27

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey Carlisle where it feels very mild.
The usual night of pain and paracetamol, the plus is I put The Christmas Carol on and listened to one of the chapters I'd fallen asleep through the previous night! I was asleep for the next chapters naturally...
Yesterday I had my morning appointment at the surgery in town cancelled and was given an out of town one in the afternoon.
The Doc thought it was more likely a virus as I've had a bit of a temperature but has taken bloods in case it's something more unpleasant so it's fingers crossed for a day or two.

I'm about to pop into town shortly to pick up a prescription amongst other things as I couldn't do this yesterday. Then it's back to chores and ploughing on with my book, I'm determined to finish it before Christmas.

Have the best possible day all of you.

aggie Tue 17-Dec-24 09:30:00

Good Morning from a damp Co Armagh
Got new glasses yesterday, adjusted to stop the arms pressing on my hearing aids , but not sure if it’s really working … sigh !
Sorry to see so much sadness this morning, may better days be ahead 💐

GreatExpectations Tue 17-Dec-24 09:46:27

Thanks for the lovely welcome, Gingster and Jaxjacky. Just went off to have an ablute before I carried on with preparing for my visitor tomorrow, who'll be staying until after Christmas. More to do, of course, as there always is, but nearly there.
Hope everyone finds their "happy place" today.

hollysteers Tue 17-Dec-24 09:49:40

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Saw new private dentist yesterday and feel happier re the remains of my tooth and abscess (not hurting). I’m now on the referral list for the surgery on the National health, but it could be six months. If it sprang to life she could do it (at a cost), so either way I’m happy. I’ll wait for the National health call in the meantime.

After that, did a biggish shop and friend turned up on the doorstep on my return home so we had a coffee and chat. Then present wrapping and watched the final instalment of Wolf Hall.
Today to last meeting of the music club and last poetry reading for me, I can sing next month, yipee!
Tonight to Nutcracker from Covent Garden at the cinema.
Such industriousness GM, thoughts to Primrose 💐 and all with troubles 🌺

monk08 Tue 17-Dec-24 10:12:14

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Running late this morning so will catch up later with everybody's happenings.
Heard yesterday that a neighbour had died lovely lady.
Meeting ex work colleague for a catch up which will be good keep in touch with texts but always nice to meet in person.
Enjoy your day everyone ☀️.

Pantglas2 Wed 18-Dec-24 05:56:41

Good morning all from a very windy 🌬️ north Wales coast.

I do hope it settles down as I’m hopping on a bus later for lunch with a friend 😋 There will be no culinary concoctions at PG Towers today and leftovers for supper, Thai curry or pasta puttanesca, he can have first pick!

I love that phrase ‘shafts of happiness’ Taichinan! Doesn’t it just sum up our lives? Rarely do we get full on joy without some kind of sadness.

Hope everyone can see their shafts today through whatever gloom they’re muddling into x

grandMattie Wed 18-Dec-24 05:58:47

Windy in Bristol too. Isn’t today Wednesday?
