My MIL did that. We tend to heat the brandy, till it’s hot enough to light, then pour it over the pudding, always accompanied by oohs and aahs from the DGC and anxious glances at the smoke alarm from my son-in-law.
For the last two years, guesses about how long the blue flames will last have been made more serious/fun by using a timer.

Yes, I’ve looked at the Public Health for Scotlands evaluation data. This shows that minimum pricing has reduced deaths from alcohol by 13.4%and hospital admissions by 4.1%.
Can I ask what data you are referring to.

Not in this house, no, and TBH I’ve never heard of it. It gets a good dousing just before coming to the table!

I put brandy in the mix when I make a Christmas pudding. I put a good slug of brandy on it when it has been cooked and it is going into (temporary) storage and dowse it again when repeated through on Christmas day before putting a match to it to take it, flaming, into the dining room.

I'm not quite sure what you meant, just querying, because the O/P gave completely wrong information when it said,

Nothing new - it was established on the first page that the SNP alcohol laws are 20 years old and the problems at checkout on puddings due to Waitrose check out systems because of labelling on goods.

I put port and brandy in mine when making. I prefer not to flambée it on the day. Nigella recommends vodka to flame it.

I remember my mil made hers with a bottle of stout.

I find it astonishing that when I buy 0% alcohol lager in the supermarket I need assistance at the self service tills. The law is a ass! And this is England, so nothing to do with the SNP. At least it's not restricted to after 10am.

£360 million on two ferries, not including the charter fees for replacements whilst these were being built us pretty eye watering. Millions on foreign Embassies, millions keeping an airport that noone else will buy - going to be a space station apparently. And an ex leader's husband charged with embezzlent. How much to take Alex Salmond to court, he was vindicated. Now they are currently fighting the definition of a woman case in the supreme court. That's just scratching the surface.

The family better not fill themselves up with the turkey s I have made three different Christmas puds. One natural, one with fruit and one ice cream Christmas pud. I made the latter as my youngest grandchild remarked,
‘‘I don’t like mincemeat’ so I am hoping an ice cream version may change her mind.

Christmas puddings are steamed for hours so any alcohol is driven off.
What about ready-made boeuf bourguinon? That contains red wine. Do customers have to wait patiently at the till to ascertain if they old enough to buy their ready meal?
