Or should that be, Archewell Productions and Archewell Foundation would like to remind everyone who they are??

Somewhere amongst the self congratulatory photos of themselves doing great works šŸ¤” is a pic of their children taken from behind.

Pointless?

merlotgran Tue 17-Dec-24 09:40:50

Here it is.

Pantglas2 Tue 17-Dec-24 09:42:03

It was lovely to see the little ones but the other pics? Not so much…bit like the round robin theme mentioned elsewhere IMO!

Usedtobeblonde Tue 17-Dec-24 09:42:16

All I thought was, look how wonderful we are and aren’t we doing good things.
I hope they send a more personal one to their friends and family.
Oh hang on …..

Usedtobeblonde Tue 17-Dec-24 09:43:29

The one with the children also looked so posed and false.

Ilovecheese Tue 17-Dec-24 09:47:10

Nice picture, nasty thread.

Fleurpepper Tue 17-Dec-24 09:49:51

Ilovecheese

Nice picture, nasty thread.

Agreed. Because of course the cards with family photos of other members of the RF, are not posed at all? and not at all about 'how wonderful we are'.

Very natural and lovely.

Usedtobeblonde Tue 17-Dec-24 09:50:01

We have our opinions and freedom to express them without being called nasty for Heaven’s sake.

As an aside, regarding the mealy mouthed the favoured Happy Holidays greetings, favoured by North Americans, I was really amused to hear when Jill Biden was addressing some meeting or other recently she trotted out the suitably vanilla Happy Holidays to those gathered and some child in the audience shouted out "happy CHRISTMAS!" Well done him or her.

Sago Tue 17-Dec-24 09:56:06

Holidays, why can’t we just say Christmas?
The Jews have Chanukah, Muslims Eid etc, they don’t refer to their religious festivals as a holiday.

Anniebach Tue 17-Dec-24 09:56:33

Natural is surely not H & M

RF Christmas cards are about tradition, not promotion.
Pantglas’s Round Robin connection is spot on.

MissInterpreted Tue 17-Dec-24 10:14:07

Oh, we've not had an H&M bashing thread for a wee while...

nanna8 Tue 17-Dec-24 10:15:50

Is that a Christmas card or just a family photo? I don’t get it.

Grannynannywanny Tue 17-Dec-24 10:16:12

We rarely see any photos of the Royal family that aren’t staged . The reactions and comments vary depending on which Royals are being photographed. H&M are always fair game for heavy criticism. We’ve seen staged photos of William and Kate with the children. Think woodland and log piles. If it was W&K rather than H&M in this staged photo I suspect some would be gushing over it.

I agree about the use of Happy Holidays. It’s Christmas season. My Muslim friend gives me a Christmas gift and card and sends me a text on Christmas morning saying Happy Christmas. I do the same for her during Eid. I don’t understand the reluctance to say Christmas šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Anniebach Tue 17-Dec-24 10:22:18

Log pile ! a Christmas card ?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 17-Dec-24 10:22:54

They look a delightful, healthy, happy and well blessed little family.

I hope the King gets to see some photographs too this Christmas. He must miss them in his life.

Mr. Markle too.

Sad really. Too many years now of bitterness. We only get one life. Try to be nice. Not just ā€˜inclusive’ (happy holidays) with strangers, publicists, donors, hangers on.

Rosie51 Tue 17-Dec-24 10:29:00

I dislike Happy Holidays but it is common in North America. goodness knows why when as a whole they're more religious than UK.

The RF family photos for their Christmas cards will be posed, but seated or standing together, all smiling at the camera. Not of them at 'doing good' functions, so there is a difference. Does anybody not know that Catherine's name is Catherine, she has expressed a wish to be addressed such, and yet still people including you Grannynannywanny insist on calling her Kate. If you spell Meghan's name in full do you do her the courtesy of including the 'h' which is not the traditional spelling?

TerriBull Tue 17-Dec-24 10:29:00

"I agree about the use of Happy Holidays It's Christmas season My Muslim friend gives me a Christmas card"

I don't begrudge any other faith denomination their celebrations and wish them well on their Hanukkah, Eid, Divali. The Chinese New Year of whatever, Say it out loud! don't put some nonsensical euphemism in place of your day/feast. In fact I've never heard a moan from members of other faiths about the use of the word "Christmas" in any case. Often the cards we get from relatives in Canada (not this year postal strike there) have the God awful Happy Holiday rubbish all over them.

Anniebach Tue 17-Dec-24 10:29:22

Unusual to see a photograph of M not standing on a red carpet

Grannynannywanny Tue 17-Dec-24 10:47:32

Rosie51 I can see I referred to the Princess of Wales as Kate in my post. However, I don’t insist on calling her Kate. I rarely mention/type her name and I did it without thinking as that’s the name which is very commonly used. I’ll pay more attention in future.

Yes, in answer to your question , I do spell Meghan’s name with the h as most people know that’s how to spell her name. The only place I’ve seen it deliberately misspelled is on Gransnet anti H&M threads šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

I agree.
It’s Christmas for goodness sake, the season of goodwill to all mankind. And womankind of course.

The Jews have Chanukah, Muslims Eid etc, they don’t refer to their religious festivals as a holiday.

The week of Hanukkah begins on Christmas Day evening this year.
I’m not sure when Eid is.

Lots of people who aren’t Christian say Happy Christmas.

Who cares?
