Or should that be, Archewell Productions and Archewell Foundation would like to remind everyone who they are??

Somewhere amongst the self congratulatory photos of themselves doing great works đŸ€” is a pic of their children taken from behind.

Pointless?

You all should be more offended that they used their titles vs what a population of over 300 million half a world away say in December.

You don't get to tell anyone what they should be more offended about imaround particularly when the subject matter is a topic that's in the general news and therefore a topical subject. The UK enjoys free speech, which means that we can discuss any subject no matter how banal, trivial or irrelevant some may find it. Luckily, there is a solution; GN has helpfully provided a hide thread button which, when selected, removes any thread, that any poster may find to be below their intellectual standards.

Are we only allowed to comment negatively about people we actually know?

The recent thread about Cliff Richard springs to mind.đŸ€”

Am not a royalist but I think it is so sad that Harry and Meghan are estranged from their respective families, as someone who has suffered estrangement I know how much it hurts, and doesn’t matter how famous or wealthy you are.
Am sure Charles and William will feel it this Xmas as will Harry and am sure Meghan and her family will feel it too.
Special occasions just bring it all to the surface đŸ„ș

What a nice thoughtful post Babs03. Yes! Being alone from your greater family is absolutely horrible. The reasons for estrangement are often very valid but you never stop missing the circle of your family. I often get very upset when I see my neighbour with her sisters but I have to try to be strong as I know that the hurt will never heal towards either of my two elder sisters! đŸ€”

PS. I rather like Harry & Megan. Don't believe all the lies about them in the newspapers people! Good luck to them and their lovely children.đŸ€”

Why do we never see the children's faces? Is it because of Harry's security fears? Also where has the beard gone?

Anniebach Tue 17-Dec-24 16:47:11

No need to read about them, listened to what they actually say

Oh look. Another thread full of people offended that the US, a secular country, is inclusive of all religions during this period of time by using the words Haopy Holidays.

Do you know how ridiculous you all sound? You may be offended that they didn't say Happy Christmas (it is Merry Christmas in the US by the way), but this card is not about you or for you. It is an American card for an American audience.

You all should be more offended that they used their titles vs what a population of over 300 million half a world away say in December.

How ridiculous.

Harry is a British citizen, his Father is the head of the Church of England, he was brought up as a Christian.

As AnnieBach said up thread I also care that Christmas Day, Goof Friday and Easter Monday are celebrated by Christians across the world.

Why should we have to use the dreadful “Happy Holidays”?
We should be able to say merry/happy Christmas to people of all religions.

All high profile people and celebs tend to do this for security reasons, Boris Johnson’s children can only ever be seen from the back. Is also about consent, adults may want to flaunt themselves in the media but their children cannot give their consent.

Anniebach Tue 17-Dec-24 17:15:35

There is close up photograph of the little girl being held up to touch a photograph of Diana hanging on a wall

William has one now..

Sago, no one is forcing you to say Happy Holidays. No one is forcing Happy Holidays on you. Unless of course H and M sent you their holiday card pwrsonally. Even when they posted it online, it was not forced upon you. You have the freedom to discontinue reading it.

No one is saying Christian Holidays aren't important. All this means is that, in the US we also feel that other holidays this time of year are also worthy of acknowledging. If people in the UK don't want to do it, great! No one said you had to.

This would be like me saying I am offended because the King and Queen said Happy Christmas on their card. A card that was never meant for me in the US and has nothing to do with me and my local customs. If I had said that, you all would be up in arms over my audacity.

I truly do not understand how anyone can take offense to something that has no effect on them and nothing to do with them. But hey ho, that's just me.

merlotgran Tue 17-Dec-24 17:32:38

I find all this photographing from behind rather strange and pointless. Anyone wishing to breach security would find a way if they were so inclined - awful though it may sound. Harry says the UK is not a safe place for his family yet the US is far more dangerous in terms of kidnapping and assassination, not to mention gun crime in schools. His constant complaints about lack of security over here are ridiculous. Does he seriously think the Kings grandchildren would be wandering about unprotected?

It’s just another whinge to add to his long list

Anniebach Tue 17-Dec-24 17:47:46

Unusual for someone who chooses to be baptised in the Anglican Church by the Archbishop of Canterbury only six years ago chooses to ignore a Christian Festival

imaround Tue 17-Dec-24 17:53:40

hmm

Allsorts Tue 17-Dec-24 17:54:48

I am so glad a photographer was luckily at hand to catch that magic moment.

It's from the horse's mouth! No need to read the papers. It's all been spoken by them.

Louella12 Tue 17-Dec-24 18:04:31

What bothers me in all this tawdry mess is their children.

Still tiny tots at the moment. But 10 years from now they'll be more than able to read some of the endless stuff in the press. Sure their parents can dismiss the evil press and tell them to pay no attention.

However, the Oprah Interview , the Netflix series, Spare, interviews, where so much has been said.

Imagine hearing your father discussing his frostbitten todger. Or his first encounter with a young lady There's so much awful detail.

Also, the lack of growing up with family members .

That's what bothers me

Looks like it’s been subject to photoshop. They all do it especially in the States. Perhaps Harry does still have a beard. It’s up to them who they send to. I won’t be receiving one that’s for sure but I’m not bothered.

Here it is.

It's a pastiche!

Such an awful, self-congratulatory card. These two have to be the most annoying couple on the planet.

They want magazines to pay up I bet to see the children properly, the free pics only show them from behind.
I’m ok with the Happy Holidays thing as not everyone is a Christian and I think it’s a common US greeting.

Frostbitten todger đŸ˜‚â˜ƒïžâ„ïž you have to be careful or you end up with snowballs.

It's quite amusing that Happy Holidays is so popular when they seem to have less holidays than most other countries. My son delivers for a supermarket and will get very little time off over Christmas, and most people in retail will be lucky to get Boxing Day off. I can't imagine workers in America have it much better.

Grunty Tue 17-Dec-24 22:05:01

I expect Harry's asked Father Christmas for a tiny jar of Elizabeth Arden cream Oreo.

Whethertomorrow Tue 17-Dec-24 22:38:08

Wow! What a load of nasty vitriolic posts today.

It surely is the season of goodwill to all.
