Good morning all from a very windy 🌬️ north Wales coast.

I do hope it settles down as I’m hopping on a bus later for lunch with a friend 😋 There will be no culinary concoctions at PG Towers today and leftovers for supper, Thai curry or pasta puttanesca, he can have first pick!

I love that phrase ‘shafts of happiness’ Taichinan! Doesn’t it just sum up our lives? Rarely do we get full on joy without some kind of sadness.

Hope everyone can see their shafts today through whatever gloom they’re muddling into x

Trust me to post on yesterday’s thread by trying to get ahead of myself…I shall meet myself coming back soon🤣

RosesandLilac Wed 18-Dec-24 06:06:04

Good morning, I have no idea what the weather is doing.
I spent most of yesterday in bed with this awful cold and cough.
I’m supposed to be taking my car for a service this morning but I think it’s going to have to be rebooked because I feel so wobbly 🙄
Buggeration 😡

grandMattie Wed 18-Dec-24 06:09:13

Good morning from a mild and windy Bristol.
I had a very bad night having been awake since around 0230. I have managed a little nap just now, but shall need to factor in one during my very busy day.
I went to town shopping yesterday. Mostly successful - I even indulged myself with a dress!
On my way home from the bus stop , I saw that the greengrocer had trays of blueberries; 3+kg for £7. Irresistible. So, idiotically, I bought one and spent the early afternoon making jam. It is very popular in church. No time for a nap.
My little hairdressing “salon” then followed, with the girl doing two neighbours and me. Dinner was late. I was done in.
Today is very busy again. (I shall be glad when all these shenanigans are over). Morning prayers as usual, ditto laundry, then a rare complex coffee morning. With the weekly FAB cafe, I’m find it difficult to attend these; it’s important to stay in touch with my neighbours, the ones I see very rarely.
In the afternoon, it’s my turn to help with the teas at the monthly women’s guild…
May today be full of little unexpected nuggets of happiness. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a damp and windy Torbay.

Hope your appointment goes well, Mick.

I know what you mean about the joyful times being mixed with sadness, Pantglas. Seizing the moment is recommended, particularly by grandMattie.

I enjoyed a Christmas lunch with my four friends on the Props team at a hotel near our theatre. Our fifth member is still in hospital where she is too weak to undergo chemotherapy after more than three months in hospital. DH arrived safely yesterday evening after a good journey where all the connections worked.

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩🎄🎁🎅🏼🦩

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s still dark in South Yorkshire and very mild, but it’s forecast to be a wet start to the day. I had a lovely afternoon yesterday watching the nativity play at the school where I volunteer. It had all the usual suspects and some laugh out loud moments and the children were all very confident in front of a large audience and word perfect. I’ve been listening to them rehearse for weeks and felt I could have sung some of the songs!
Today I have to have a run over to the retail park to pick up a few things and then it’s cleaning, and baking gingerbread men. I’ve also found my little pre-lit tree so I shall give it a place in the conservatory.
Have the best day you can folks.

karmalady Wed 18-Dec-24 06:20:06

Good morning from s somerset, dull again today

I did the last of what was needed on, my plot yesterday, planted the last three plants, put together and installed a 2 x 1.5m soil grid, a tricky job but important to stop me slipping, then I went back and quickly planted some jerusalem artichokes which postie had delivered. Yes, I know their nickname but I will be fermenting these to use without the side effects

So now the plot is put to bed, I can revert to normal and I started with cleaning my boots last night. Those boots are so comfortable, warm and dry, viking rubber boots and I have tried to get another pair for the future, no longer produced. I eventually found a barely worn pair on ebay so have snapped them up

Today will be mainly mud-washing and putting things away in my garage My car is disgustingly dirty outside, not too bad inside. I need to set to and give it a valet clean, as soon as it is safe to trail an electric cable for the karcher

I am back to making veg juice today, carrot celery and lemon, I have washing to do plus the `normal` things that I have neglected since november 2nd and a fast walk would not be amiss.

Have a good day

Morning from a blustery S Hants, I could hear the wreath banging on the front door as I came down.
Sorry you’re so rough Roses lots of tlc stay warm.
Yesterday was phone calls and house tidying, tomorrow the beds and main bathroom, today I’m out for lunch with a friend.
I’m up early to catch the bin men, they deserve their Christmas box.
No time for a quick zzzz then gMattie I hope at least a five minute sit down can be grabbed.

Good morning from Malta where it is cloudy but expected to be another warm day 20°C/11°C.

Yesterday I went out to do some shopping. It was such a lovely day and I was far too hot. The temperature seems to vary from one day to the next but it has yet to be wintry cold.

The boys visited yesterday afternoon which is always the tonic I need. They are both talking a lot more and littlest is coming out with a lot of Maltese. Their daddy and other grandparents speak to them in Maltese and they get a bit of both at nursery.

I’m off in search of a toy vacuum cleaner today as littlest is obsessed wth them. He was using my umbrella yesterday, pushing it back and forth saying ‘hoover, hoover, hoover’ 😂

His brother loves music so I will be looking for something musical for him.

Roses sorry you are feeling so rough. You have my sympathy as I felt really bad for almost two weeks with the cold I just had. Hope you feel better soon.💐

Wishing you all a good day ☀️

GrannyGravy13 Wed 18-Dec-24 07:02:54

Morning everyone it’s still dark here on S E Essex, not sure what the weather is doing, I can hear the wind though.

Bed change first thing, then I am off for a manicure, might have a Christmas design on one little finger 🎄

Will gaze into freezer for inspiration for dinner.

Sorry you are poorly R&L

Take care GM

Good morning from a dark W Kent. A quiet day, missing my art group lunch I don’t want to risk catching anything, so much illness about. *Roses+ sorry about your horrid cold.

Marydoll Wed 18-Dec-24 07:07:01

Good morning all from another day of wind in Glasgow. We have a yellow weather warning.

R&L, could your DH not drop off your car? I hope you feel better soon.

When our children were small, we used to take them to thecinema on Christmas Eve, followed by a McDonalds. It was a rare treat, becausemoney was tight.
Yesterday, we did exactly the same as McD's and cinema. I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially as I am struggling, physically and mentally at the momemt.

Today, we have Dollie for breakfast and the school run. A visit to the bank, then DH is treating me to lunch at the golf club. A rare occurence.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.

kittylester Wed 18-Dec-24 07:08:00

Good morning from a gusty North Leicestershire.

I am almost at the end of week 2 of this awful lurgy. It comes and goes and keeps making me think I can get on with Christmas prep - then I pay for it.

Our cleaner is here this morning and it's an upstairs week so no chance of staying in bed.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

monk08 Wed 18-Dec-24 07:08:20

Good morning all from a very windy Black country.
Early start today I'm on playgroup duty and it's the Christmas party, I'll get to see Santa again😃.
Roses hope you feel better soon.
grandMattie and karmalady what busy lives you both lead, you make me seem very lazy.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️

Autumncolours Wed 18-Dec-24 07:18:11

Good morning all. Dark and wet in Yorkshire. Had my hair done yesterday and finished the Christmas shopping. It was DH’s birthday but the weather scuppered our plans so the day was rather dull for him. Wrapping and posting today then getting things ready for visiting DS at the other end of the country on Friday. Take care all. Hugs to the poorly people and anyone who is facing this coming week with sadness.

NannyJan53 Wed 18-Dec-24 07:20:56

Good morning from a dark Black Country, where I have no idea what the weather is like as not opened curtains yet.

Up early to take my car for a Service. They couldn't fit it in in November when I had the MOT done. Have to be there for 8.00am.

Had a pleasant day yesterday, walking around a lovely country village where DD lives, and ending up in the cafe there. DGD2 was at home from college, so I popped over and took her back to the cafe for lunch.

It is DD's birthday today, she is 46! I am taking her to lunch on Sunday. Not often we get time together.

Wishing you all the best day possible

RosiesMaw2 Wed 18-Dec-24 07:36:06

Good morning from Moseley where it is still dark and sounds windy.
We had a wonderful evening at The Red Shoes at the RSC in Stratford yesterday-my Christmas treat from DD and SIL - but then, so was The Nutcracker at BRB a fortnight ago!
I don’t know if anybody else has seen it but it was a magical but troubling production, very dark but also very funny at times. Not really for (young) children!
We had a meal at Carluccio’s opposite the theatre beforehand which was lovely but they were seriously understaffed and the service was slow. It wasn’t even busy when we arrived but things got even slower as it filled up. However, nothing detracted from a lovely evening with the family , the GC enjoyed it too at 14, 13 and 10 they were old enough to understand and appreciate it.
Home again today to Rosie and normality and present wrapping - the shopping is finished AT LAST. Also a Christmas cake to marzipan and ice and I’ll be back here again in a week for Christmas.
I am sorry to read of poorly grans and husbands and wish you all an improvement or respite. It’s particularly hard at Christmas but the main thing is the support of the love of your family and friends.

Redcar Wed 18-Dec-24 07:36:36

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s windy out and quite mild, just starting to get light.
I’m beginning to make preparations to go home at the end of next week - mentally at least. I’ll have to do a huge online shop for food as the fridge is empty. I feel that my recovery from this hip replacement is a bit slower that my recovery from the first one earlier this year. I have a physio appointment on Friday so I’ll see what he says about driving again,
roses I hope you feel better soon.
grandmattie and karma I’m envious of your energy!
Have as good a day as possible everyone! Hope the clouds lift a bit and we see some sun!

Blossoming Wed 18-Dec-24 07:37:19

Good morning from rainy Lancashire. It’s still dark outside, I have an early hospital appointment today so will be setting off shortly. Have a good day everyone 🌹

cornergran Wed 18-Dec-24 07:40:57

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is both wet and windy.

Very little achieved yesterday. Mr C was exhausted and slept a lot, I retreated into a book after my hair cut. Must get on with some dust removal today after bed changing and updating my grocery order. Finally got ‘well we think’ clarity from our son and teenagers about their plans for Sunday when they will eat with us. We’re very much looking forward to it but you’d think I was asking them to plan a moon landing!

Stay warm roses, that sounds horrid. Rest when you can kitty, recovering takes time.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 18-Dec-24 07:45:54

Good morning from a wet and windy Oxfordshire, but quite mild ‘for the time of year’.
I ran down and opened the gate for the carpenter, fortunately he is working under cover today, hopefully the rain will ease off later in the week when he will assemble all his bits of wood out in all weathers, but hopefully in some sun.
MissOops is collecting me after lunch to dog sit as she has to take Nephew for an appointment, there is so much shooting going on at the moment ( poor birds) that she gets too stressed to be left alone. So I’ll take my kindle and sit in front of her fire by the Christmas tree and put my feet up. No change there then!
I’m still not driving, but MrOops car is very unwell at the garage and has to have loads of money to make it better again and as the carpenter seems to run out of things regularly MrOops has to be on hand to go and buy them.

Hope those who have the dreaded lurgy soon recover and that all we Grans have a good day. Stay dry everyone.

Susan56 Wed 18-Dec-24 07:47:26

Good morning from Shropshire.Sounds very windy.I was woken by someone’s gate banging🙄

Yesterdays visit to mum wasn’t a good one.She perked up a little bit when we took her out but she doesn’t seem well.
DH collected the grandchildren from school.DGD was very excited as her design was highly commended in the Bishop of St Asaph’s Christmas card competition. She was presented with a certificate along with one of her friends.

Today is a day of completing the to do list and hopefully a trip to the tip.I say hopefully as we now have to book and the new system has come in for a lot of complaints on the town Facebook page.

Sorry you are so unwell and hope you feel better soon.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩🎅🏼🎄
