Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark with signs of wetness during the night ,maybe a frost?
Anyway yesterday diabetic eye check went O)K , got seen early as I got there early , noticed the local community hospital take there meals from Wiltshire Foods.
Usual day bus trip to Bicester for a shop and maybe see some people I know .
Health front weight still going down .
Take Care,
Mick

That does sound a lot Grammaretto but if you read my later message it was 3 households who each paid £300+ for a sycamore tree - almost £1000 and 20 years ago. I wonder if access and disposal of your tree is a problem? The fellers damaged our lawn, lowering huge chunks of trunk down into it, but they said our garden was more open, so better access for the chainsaws and shredder.

We were just pleased to see the back of it!

Feelingmyage55 Thu 19-Dec-24 13:48:52

Good morning belatedly. I have stopped for a snack. While looking forward to having the family for Christmas I am muttering bad words under my breath as they are bringing an extra person who will need their own room and a proper bed. We are having to give up our bed and en-suite grrr. Camping out in the very cluttered den with DH. (Not someone who would be on their own which is different.). Lots of cake will keep me sweet(ish).
Feeling better having got that off my chest 🤬.
Off to church to prep for the primary school service tomorrow.
Kleenex in my pocket (other brands available).
Lots of folk under the weather and hope for improvement for you.

Oopsadaisy1

It sounds as though you need a bit of a break GM and have some ‘me’ time.

This.... x

Good luck with your medication Ekwanimitee

Good morning all. 3deg and frost this morning in Glasgow with sunshine and heavy rain predicted for this afternoon.

I just don’t have the stamina now to have busy, heavy days and I have accepted this. Quite happy to go at my own pace and still have a feeling of satisfaction of what I can achieve. An at home day today foutering about with a glance at the to do list.

Glammagran your poor DD must feel abandoned by the NHS. Unacceptable and so frustrating for her.
Look after yourself Grandmabatty. Hope a change of meds help.
I wouldn’t mind a visit to Pitlochry Stilllearning
Safe travels to Glasgow Grammaretto Hope your echocardiogram results are positive news.
Hope you have a less painful day Marydoll. Rest when you can.

Best wishes for a better day to all going through difficult times.

Susan56 Thu 19-Dec-24 09:55:23

Oh my goodness Grammaretto. That is insane and as you say totally impossible.I really hope you get a reasonable quote🙏🏻

Georgesgran sounds like DD was very lucky with the price they paid.

Grammaretto Thu 19-Dec-24 09:50:27

The quote is £6,000 for 2 trees, Susan56. It's impossible.

GrannySomerset Thu 19-Dec-24 09:43:17

I have an empty today apart from packing the remaining presents and think it will be a reading day - too soon to be ready for my post-Christmas visitors and I am postponing my big(gish) shop till at least the weekend. So had better find the sellotape and get on with it. Am a bit downhearted as I realise how many people have left my life in the last few years and my new year resolution is to start a new address book as the old one (dating from 2009) has so many crossings out. One of the many unexpected sadnesses of old age.

Georgesgran Thu 19-Dec-24 09:30:12

Susan We shared the cost with 2 neighbours to cut down a huge sycamore tree (not ours) - it was around £300 each and that was 20 years ago!

luluaugust Thu 19-Dec-24 09:29:43

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Cake making and ironing today combined with a walk and buy a newspaper for a change.
I used to enjoy the nativity plays and church carols with the grandchildren, very flat this year.

Best wishes all round

harrigran Thu 19-Dec-24 09:17:42

Good morning from a cold but dry NE.
Window cleaner says he is coming today so had to go out and unlock the gate, it was still dark but he often comes very early.
Shopping done yesterday, everything needed for Christmas except for no turkey crown, there was not one in the chill cabinet.
No updates from sister in hospital in Germany, my DD is in contact with my sister's friends because she is fluent in German, but no information is being shared.
Glammagran I feel your frustration, hope you get some answers soon.

aggie Thu 19-Dec-24 09:10:02

Good Morning from a chilly bright Co Armagh
Mass shortly , candles will be lit for all🕯️

Susan56 Thu 19-Dec-24 09:06:03

Good morning from Shropshire where we had heavy rain overnight but it is brighter now.

Yesterday was a relaxing day at home.We didn’t need the heating on all day and have woken to a reasonably warm house again today.

We are going to a neighbours for drinks and nibbles this afternoon.DD has just messaged and invited us to the Christmas bingo in the village hall so a busy day.

Glammagran I am so sorry to hear your daughter is so unwell and hope she gets some answers soon🙏🏻

Grandmabatty I have been guilty of living as though I don’t have diabetes too and am working hard on getting back into good habits. Its very hard especially when most socialising involves eating out and when life gets busy.I hope your new medication helps. We can do this💪🏼🤞🏻

Grammaretto, DD just had a massive tree cut down after Storm Darragh and it was £400 for one tree😱

Thinking of our absent posters and all struggling.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩🎅🏼🎄

EkwaNimitee Thu 19-Dec-24 09:01:51

Good morning Mick and everyone from a clear-skied Carlisle where there is a big 3/4 moon in the sky. It's nippy!

Yesterday was an early trip into town to collect my prescribed pills, and today I've taken the first ones with some trepidation, dreading possible side effects.
I spent the rest of the day pottering at essential little jobs and admin. I'm behind with things and need to give my btm a good kicking...if only I was in form to do it!

It's a day at home today, getting myself organised for the coming week.

Everyone seems to be busy, busy, I am feeling lazy in comparison but I can take it...

Have the best possible day all of you especially you poorlies who I hope are on the mend.

Badbatch Thu 19-Dec-24 08:58:58

Good morning all. Im off to the opticians today to see how my cataracts are doing.
Dear gramagram. im sorry about your daughter, you never stop worrying about them no matter what age. I hope you have better news soon.
I know its about 3 weeks away but I have made my New Year Resolution .
I will go on a calorie controlled diet because since I have retired and stopped smoking, the lbs have piled on. Have a nice day all.

Litterpicker Thu 19-Dec-24 08:56:40

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. We have (pale) blue sky with high cloud. A ‘man’ is here to service our boiler. A different ‘man’ told us he couldn’t service it as the pipes from the boiler to the outside needed replacing. We await the verdict.

Sorry to hear about your daughter, Glammagran. My DD2 has had neurological symptoms and muscle weakness over the last six years. She has had many scans and tests but no firm diagnosis. I hope your DD will find her condition improves with one of the courses of medication. It is hard to live with uncertainty.

Grandmabatty, I hope your change of medication helps - you’ve been having a hard time recently.

Thoughts also with Marydoll - I hope you can get some rest and reduced pain levels.

Safe journeys for those travelling or with family coming to them.

hollysteers Thu 19-Dec-24 08:55:16

Op’ in October

Marydoll Thu 19-Dec-24 08:54:38

Good morning all, really cold here in Glasgow. It's 2C.

We have Babydoll, who is in high spirits. 💕Papa will be on charge, I'm not great today.

Good luck Grammaretto, a long journey for you. We are fortunate to be able to drie across the Erskine Bridge to that hospital.

Stilllearning, I love Pitlochry. Enjoy!
GM, you sound really low.💕

Glamna, your poor DD. It's so painful to see our children struggling.💐

I got my next rheumatology appt.in yesterday. It is for 2026. I know for sure, I have been written off, the appointments are usually three monthly.
I phoned the dept. to ask why my bloods hadn't been done since July. They must be done on a regular basis, due to the toxic nature of my biologics.
The response: You seem to have slipped below the radar.. Says it all!

I wish you all a pleasant day.

hollysteers Thu 19-Dec-24 08:54:35

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
I’m off to Berkshire by train today to stay with DD, we come back together on the 23rd for Christmas here with DS and GD.
Our plans include a trip into London, Italian meal and carols at the Albert Hall, plus a couple of parties with DDs’ friends. I’ve had to dream up a couple of suitable outfits.

I won’t see my Dsister in London as she is laid up with a horrible virus.
I’m still recuperating from my op’ in so hope my energy levels keep up…

Thoughts to Primrose Glammagran (hope you get some answers) harrigran and all with worries 🌺

ginny Thu 19-Dec-24 08:48:19

Good morning to all.
So many of you with health problems either your own or family. I do hope they all improve soon.
I was lucky to get a seat at DGS2s school play yesterday. He was word perfect and so animated in the singing. All the children ( 7 & 8) years ago olds were very confident. Lovely!
Unfortunately onthe way to the car afterwards I slipped on a grassy verge and have jarred my shoulder . I have arthritis in it anyway so it’s quite painful this morning.
We are going to visit my brother today. Some of you know he is in hospital again , very poorly although apparently he has been a little brighter in himself for the last couple of days.
Wishing all a good day and a smile along the way.

Gingster Thu 19-Dec-24 08:35:05

Good morning all and it’s dry with no wind here after a blustery night.

Yesterday I shopped with my friend and all went well. She got a cab home and was pleased with her purchases.

I must phone my brothers to see how they are and hopefully they’ll both be fit to come here on Sunday. I’ve got plenty of food so I’ll be ready for them 🤞.

Today I have bowls club and then home for the rest of the day. Life gets so busy this time of year, it’s nice to relax and just ‘be’.

You sound a little ‘out of sorts’ GM . Take it easy or you’ll run out of steam. You too, Karma. There’s busy and there’s busy!,,,. Take care!

Enjoy time with your family Liberty.

Love to all 🌟

Grammaretto Thu 19-Dec-24 08:34:28

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's light so must be late!

The plasterers are picking up the scaffolding this morning and a 2nd tree surgeon is coming to inspect the fallen tree situation.
I was given an eye-watering quote from the first one.

I had hoped to get organised for Christmas. Presents for the DGC on the day etc. I'm hoping to be inspired 😉

I go for my echocardiogram tomorrow. It's the other side of Glasgow!
I hope your DD has help soon Glammagran. Such a worry for you all.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Taichinan Thu 19-Dec-24 08:33:29

Good morning all, and I hope you're all well - or feeling better if you're not. From that you'll gather that once again I haven't time to read the thread!
I wasn't going to go to tai chi this morning to give myself more time to do the things that have to be done at home before I leave for foreign climes - aka Notts - on Monday morning but somehow I just can't! So there's that this morning plus another foray into the wrapping paper mountain.
Tomorrow I have to be off out early to drive to Stirling to meet with DS1, d-i-l and 🤞Li'l Ollie from the west coast. DGDs 1 and 3 will also join us so it will be a lovely reunion of all my family left in Scotland.
So if I don't have time to post tomorrow you'll know where I am.
Have a lovely day all 🎄🎁🎶

Stilllearning Thu 19-Dec-24 08:28:48

Morning from South Lanarkshire, blind still down but it sounds wet outside. I’m posting before reading as I’ve a busy morning ahead before leaving for a short break in Pitlochry with DD4, her Christmas present to me. I am so looking forward to just having uninterrupted time with her, it’s a wonderful gift from her very full life.

Christmas lunch yesterday with my ex exercise class friends ( we went to the class for twenty years until the Dutch physio who took it abandoned us when she was 90!) and we replaced it with weekly lunch. It was really great to be joined by the member who had a serious stroke last April. Her sister brought her and she was, as ever, the most elegant of all of us. She is still totally herself but her mobility and speech are badly affected. Thank God she has a great family around her.

Thinking of everyone facing extra challenges just now, in spite of the fun it can be a difficult time for many of us, love to all.

RosiesMaw2 Thu 19-Dec-24 08:24:30

Good morning from NBucks where it has faired up and sounds blustery.
Easy drive home yesterday and Rosie was happy to see me.
I was sorry I couldn’t stay for DGD’s school Carol service but it would have meant at best ending my journey in the dark, (at worst, doing most if it in the dark! )
Do you get to stay and hear the carols kittylester ? I always find it magical and am so glad there are still schools which take the children to their local church and sing proper carols not just “happy holidays” knees-ups! Long may these traditions last. You must be exhausted Grandmattie to sound so discombobulated about finding the local primary school children in your church. I’m sure you weren’t really annoyed. Isn’t that what it’s all about?
Glammagran how very worrying for you, I hope more kicking and shouting from somebody will get some action for your DD flowers
Present wrapping today, a Waitrose delivery and if it stays fine, a nice dog walk to blow the cobwebs away. Then maybe a Christmassy film on Netflix.
May the day be kind to you all.
