Good morning from Bristol.

It has calmed down a bit since yesterday, when, to my astonishment, I was physically pushed forward by a gust of wind! Further gales are forecast for later today.

Taichinan, what a delightful picture of your princeling. MD, do try to slowdown a bit and preserve your energy. I’m so glad that your new PP is so thoughtful and caring.

I made a rather nice arrangement with various foliage and scarlet alstroemerias and carnations. I get my foliage from hedges and footpaths. Other, regular flower arrangers say they can’t find any. They can’t be very observant.

Coffee afterwards. It was surprisingly well attended.

I had a very quiet afternoon, dozing and more knitting of my nativity in the communal hall to which I keep adding figures as they are finished.

Church this morning then the 9 lessons and carols in the early evening. Mulled wine and mince pies are on the menu afterwards. Last year I served; this year I have refused but saying I’d do it if absolutely necessary. I’ll probably slip away immediately after the service.

Have a happy day, despite the forecast gales and nasties. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🎄🌟

Morning Mick, morning All from a wet and very windy corner of Somerset. It’s wild out there. A nasty weather day ahead

Spent the day on mundane computer related tasks yesterday, good to have it all done. Our teenagers and their dad are due for lunch. Really looking forward to seeing them if concerned for their Dad travelling two motorways as he drives a tall vehicle. He’s taking one of his daughters home with him, I’ll not relax until I know they’re back safely.

Your arrangement sounds delightful grandmattie, good to know you will put yourself first this evening.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Still dark here but it sounds rather lively outside. One forecast suggested we might have sleet showers. Oh joy! I have been awake since four, reading and listening to music. I seem to be settling into a pattern of having to go to bed too early because I can’t stay awake, and then waking up too early because I can’t stay asleep! Today, like it or not, I have to go to the supermarket. After that I shall make a curry to go into the freezer for Boxing Day. And more mince pies. Is it permitted to be heartily sick of Christmas already? Yes? Thankyou😁!
Have the best day you can, folks.

Morning all from a dark West Oxfordshire,

I have my food processor! What a shenanigans. Someone up the road had received it so OH collected it last night. If I hadn’t put a message on the Facebook village page I don’t think I would have got it back. Basically, the shop had put the wrong house number on the parcel, even though they had used our correct number before then. The house it was left at (and they didn’t sign for it) is a house share and the guy who contacted me via Facebook, didn’t know me. Oh well, it’s all sorted!

Today I’ll be making bread sauce, stuffing and another batch of sausage rolls. Before that, we’re going out for our final lunch of the year.

Elder son WhatsApp’d me at the crack of dawn to say they’re on the ferry to France. I hope it’s not too windy. Neither he nor my granddaughter are good sailors.

Have a good day.

Good morning from Malta where the weather is similar to yesterday’s.

It was actually lovely and sunny yesterday but very windy. I went out to do some shopping and spent more than I had intended. My poor bank account will take another hit next month when my car tax and insurance are due. I don’t understand how it gets more expensive each year and yet the value of my car has melted like an ice cube since I bought it!

Mass this morning, chat with my pal in Leicester, then pottering about the house.

grandMattue my dear late mum was a prolific knitter and made several knitted nativities, of which I have one. Please post a photo when you’ve finished it.🙏🏻

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

grandMattie Sun 22-Dec-24 06:47:42

bells, these are some of the three I made last year!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 22-Dec-24 06:52:55

Wow GM! Those are amazing.

karmalady Sun 22-Dec-24 06:54:59

Good morning from s somerset, strong wind gusts and probably bright today

Yesterday started not knowing what I was going to do but suddenly I got the garage urge and spent absolutely the whole day in there. Up a ladder, unscrewing and screwing many hangers. I had the walls lined with strong plywood before I moved. I moved, logs, bikes, karcher, full compost bags and the special 5` tall apple- storing cabinet. I think I am making the most of the space now

It is very much better and the most used things are now reachable. The bin has more in it but I am not making a special trip to get rid of extension leads etc. I had put foam jigsaw shapes on the floor, warm underfoot and not dusty. I vacuumed it and now it looks good, I have to carry on using my stores from in there

The weather was such that sound travelled and I could hear traffic in the distance, a huge amount of traffic

I am up to the plot later for outside therapy, I want to make a bed for some perpetual veggies that will be arriving at the end of the month and another for rhubarb. I need to get well-rotted manure on both beds, I think in all it will take 4-5 hours.

Have a good day

Good morning from a chilly Torbay with a pernicious wind.

Finally, I’ve put up the Christmas decorations. No tree this year as there isn’t enough space with the NHS equipment I have on loan to help me to be mobile and it’s too much effort, even with DH's help.

Does your DGD hope to pursue a career in dance, BlueSapphire? It sounds as if she was talented from a young age. It’s lovely to watch them hone their skills over the years.

A blessed Sunday to all. 🎄🎁✝️💐🥰

Bellasnana Sun 22-Dec-24 06:57:21

grandMattie I love them! You are such a talented lady.🤗

luluaugust Sun 22-Dec-24 07:12:29

Good morning from a dark W Kent. Another day of eye drops and getting ready for DB’sarrival tomorrow. I think DH and I will be pleased to have someone else to talk to.
The Nativity scenes are beautiful gM
Best wishes

Jaxjacky Sun 22-Dec-24 07:23:13

Morning from a cool S Hants, yesterday MrJ, my daughter and Finley went to watch football, Imogen and her cold stayed here, she dozed on the sofa. The gammon is defrosting, I’ll cook it tomorrow after I’ve made an early trip to the farm shop.
Love the sheep gMattie.

Good morning from Durham. It’s going to be windy here and currently feels like -8!
Matinee performance of Christmas Carol with DD1 today - I hope it’s suitable for 7yr old DGS1. I have to be on the road by 10am, after a poor night’s sleep. I’ve woken very ‘stuffed up’ with a sore throat, but I’m a mouth breather, so I’m told.

Take care out and about.
Best wishes to all. X

brook2704 Sun 22-Dec-24 07:30:34

Good morning everyone from DD1s in Cambridge, it’s just starting to get light and sounds windy
gMattie, they’re so beautiful, you’re such a talented lady
Yesterday was a lovely family day, we went to the NT Anglesey Abbey, the DGSs enjoyed seeing the reindeer and we had a good walk through the grounds, finished off with a hot chocolate. Today we’re all off out into London for lunch and to see a show so really looking forward to that.
Good to hear the food processor has eventually turned up llfl what a fiasco!
Hope Imogen is feeling much better soon Jax and right by Christmas
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 22-Dec-24 07:30:59

Good morning after a blustery night, there was music somewhere in the village until 2am so not much sleep here.

Off early to see MrOops Sister down South, her husband died a few weeks ago, her daughters all live close by so she is being well looked after, but they are all still struggling to be cheerful for the little ones this year.

When we return I have various things to get out of the freezer ready to cook tomorrow, I have a list so I wont forget anything.

Love the Nativity GM

Have a good Sunday everyone.

kittylester Sun 22-Dec-24 07:40:29

Good morning all from a very chilly North Leicestershire.

We have to collect an order from M &S at 10.30 but then we have an easy day.

ginny Sun 22-Dec-24 07:41:40

Good morning from a chilly and breezy outside N. Bucks.
I am steadily ticking off the jobs I still have to do. I hope to be done by the time we go off to the Pantomime this afternoon with all 3 DDs, SIL, DH and two youngest DGS. DH has not been to one since he was a child.
My jarred shoulder from my slip over is improving and changing some of my medication seems to be working . No more sleepless nights with indigestion and nausea.
Wishing everyone a good day especially those who are poorly or troubled.

Redcar Sun 22-Dec-24 07:43:42

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s getting light, not windy here yet, but gales are forecast for later.
A busy day for the family yesterday, with the usual Saturday swimming, gymnastics and dance and drama classes. The dance & drama classes put on an end of term show for parents, which DD1 enjoyed. Then they all went out for a meal & the 9 year old went to the pantomime with a friend’s family.
DD2 took me to see my godmother who is 99,:I was pleased to see her as I haven’t been for a few months.
karma you are inspiring me to have a huge sort out of my garage when I’m home again and fully fit!
gm you are so clever, knitting so many nativity scenes. Enjoy the nine lessons and carols service, I hope you manage to escape before being roped in to help with the refreshments.
Not sure what’s going on here today, DD2 is keen to go to a carol service at the local church this afternoon & I’d love to go with her, but think I’d be a liability, especially as seating in churches is not designed for elderly ladies on crutches!
Have the best day possible everyone, stay safe in the gales.

GrannyIvy Sun 22-Dec-24 07:46:10

Good morning from Cambridgeshire, sounds a windy morning but not looked out yet!
Trying to decide should I do the M & S food run today or tmrw. Both will be busy….

DD2 and the little ones are coming round at 3 for a games afternoon and dinner and have requested toad in the hole.

My Christmas tree is progressively getting smellier so much so. A very extreme strong pine smell I have never experienced this with a tree before. It is also making mine and DH nose and eyes run, I cannot wait to get rid of it now, shame as it looks pretty. Won’t get this type of one again!

Brook my daughter and the little ones were at Anglesey Abbey yesterday and enjoyed a walk round seeing Santa and the reindeer.

Wishing a happy Sunday to all 🎄⭐️🎄

harrigran Sun 22-Dec-24 07:49:02

Good morning from a very windy NE, had to wear earplugs to get any sleep.
Family lunch out was good, meal was lovely and then we had coffee and cake at home followed by a glass of Champagne. DS played his mandolin and GD played the piano.
I now have the house to myself until Christmas day, will spend the time doing preparation and maybe finish reading my book.
Have a good day.

Grammaretto Sun 22-Dec-24 07:51:50

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where the wind has settled down at last.
Plans went a bit awry yesterday as I had unexpected visits from friends throughout the day and my DBiL in the evening. He came bearing gifts and stayed for a scratch supper and a glass of wine. He also helped with my on-line paying bills!
I missed the carol concert but had a
chance to catch up with DH's family who were always part of Christmases past.

I told him to help himself to any
books of DH too, so he took a couple.
Today I hope to get some cooking done, move the piano with help and set up my tree which I chose yesterday. It already smells like Christmas 🎄

I love your nativity scene gMattie

Keep well, keep calm everyone . The days are getting longer.

Marydoll Sun 22-Dec-24 08:04:41

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, where it is 2°C.

Another disturbed night of upsetting dreams and pain, I am so woolly minded this morning.

I spent to much time catering for everyone's needs yesterday, that I never got a single present wrapped. So after Mass today I need to tackle them.

Glad to hear you are taking a step back tonight GM, I wish I could take notice of my own advice.

Brook, a lovely day ahead for you with your family.

Wishing you all a pleasant Sunday.

BlueSapphire Sun 22-Dec-24 08:08:08

Good morning everyone from a very windy but dry Northampton.Hoping it stays dry as I am off out this morning to a carol service with a friend - hope no-one listens too carefully to my singing.... I used to sing in choirs all the way through school, college and when we lived in Australia joined the local Chorale, but nowadays I find it so difficult to croak a sound out!

Shall have a light lunch when I get back, then intend on making Mary Berry's Christmas tray-bake - the apricots have been soaking in brandy since Friday!

Out at the pantomime last night to see DGD1 dance in what is probably her last pantomime; it was a lovely retelling of Peter Pan, and the flying scenes were done very well. The many children in the audience were so entranced and into it, and I enjoyed watching their reactions. Of course I only had eyes for DGD1 when she was on stage!
Ash, she had been thinking of trying for dance school after GCSEs, but changed her mind to stay on and do A levels. No idea what she plans to do after sixth form.

Time to make some toast before I head out to the carol service, so I will wish all a pleasant Sunday.

Bonnybanko Sun 22-Dec-24 08:16:29

Good morning all from a very dark, windy and rainy day here on the east coast of Fife

I’ve a friend taking me to church today, I’m looking forward to singing Christmas carols and meeting friends.

Later I’ll come home and watch Netflix, I believe the “children on the train” will be a good film it’s about poor Italian children being evacuated to other families who are very much better off than their own. I’ll have home made lentil soup for lunch and the obligatory bottle of water

Have a good day my friends or as best you can,, look out for these horrible scams which are going about don’t let them catch you 🤬🤬🤬
