If the conditions are like yesterday should be very foggy outside.

Health wise I am OK.

Good morning everyone on this Christmas Day from south Manchester where Alexa tells me it’s 4°C and foggy (is it?) and will be overcast today and 10°C. I texted our Teacher Mummy daughter half an hour ago to ask “Has he been?” and we got a lovely FaceTime call. We had to laugh - L’il Miss showed us a gorgeous doll with red flowing locks. Grandad asked her “who’s that?”. “Ariel grandad - can you bring Elsa when you come?” She’s here, bought from the charity shop below for £2!

A Merry Christmas to everyone including all who ‘just read’ such as Thorntrees Preston over in America and LadyGaga who joined us yesterday. 👋

Christmas greetings from a rather grey Chew Valley where I am starting the day in a leisurely way as I am asked out to lunch and therefore have no demands on me until then. I am remembering so many Christmases past and wishing you all as good a day as possible.

Gingster Wed 25-Dec-24 08:35:07

Good morning and Happy Christmas 🎅🎄. to you all.

I went to the local Carol service yesterday afternoon and the church was full of joy and excitement.

Today it’s just us two chickens but it will be a nice relaxed day just pleasing ourselves. We’ll walk the dog a couple of times to blow away the cobwebs.
Tomorrow is the full family fun day at DS1’s. 🥳.

Wishing you all a wonderful day whatever you are doing and hoping all poorly grans are feeling well enough to enjoy it.🙏

Thankyou for the card Glammagran. A lovely thought.

Good morning all.

Someone has been here too but not Santa. I almost had a heart attack when I went to make tea.

A quiet day here too. Just DH and I. The fun starts tomorrow.

As others have said, Mick, thank you for this lovely, daily thread.

Wishing you all a peaceful and happy Christmas Day.

Good morning Michael12, a quiet Christmas Day for me too. Presents already unwrapped, breakfast done. Bought myself some fresh salmon for lunch rather than a ready meal. Still only 8.30am, going to be a long day. Grown up children will ring later I expect. Enjoy the day. Merry Christmas Everyone x

Marydoll Wed 25-Dec-24 08:25:12

Merry Christmas everyone and a special hug for those who will find this find Christmas difficult,

After forty seven years of being in charge of the proceedings, I have been forced to delegate and it does not sit well with me. I am a control freak.😉
Of course nothing will meet my exacting standards.

Have a joyful day folks. X

Good morning everyone from a still dark part of West Yorkshire.
It is lovely to read all your greetings and plans for the day. I hope you all have a wonderful time.

For the first time in 24 years MrLP and I are on our own today. The children are both with their other half's families - only fair, they were all here last year! We will have our day with them next week - the turkey is in the freezer!

So a quiet day for us today, no stress or cooking up a storm - that will come next Monday!

We are now sitting snugly in bed with a cuppa, having opened our stockings and allowed the cat to chase the wrapping paper over the bed!

Thank you to Mick for opening this thread every morning. I don't post very much, but I always read along, and enjoy/sympathise with all your adventures.

Merry Christmas and heartfelt wishes to you all for 2025.
Take care, xxx

I'm a lurker here, but I wanted to join today to say thank you to Mick, and all of the others, for this lovely gentle thread.
The Viking branch of the family tree are here and the Welsh , so a multi lingual God Jul, Nadolig .. you get the picture..
Greetings and Merry Christmas from a rather grey and overcast East Kent.
I will watch some mad souls running into the sea later.

A very happy Christmas to all. A quiet day for us although we’ll have video calls with all the children and grandchildren.

DD1 phoned last evening and reminded us how, when we kept goats many years ago, each Christmas Eve before they went to bed,we used to go down to the goat shed and tell them that,if they went into the shed very very quietly, they would see the 2 goats we had kneeling in homage to the baby Jesus.

What they didn’t realise was the goats get into a kneeling position when they get from a lying down position to standing up.

A memory for her of nearly 40 years ago.

Morning all and Happy Christmas from West Oxfordshire.

Elder son put photos on the family WhatsApp group yesterday of our granddaughter skiing in France. She looked very competent.

Younger son and our daughter are here and looking forward to a good day. I’ll be putting the oven on soon!

🎄🎄🎄

GrannyGravy13 Wed 25-Dec-24 08:02:36

Happy Christmas Mick and thank you for this friendly thread 👏👏👏

DD is asleep, her boys will return here this afternoon and all will stay till weekend (yes I know they live five minutes downy the same road as us, 🤣)

It’s a quiet day today before the rest of our children and my sister plus their families arrive tomorrow.

Peace and joy to you all 🎄🙏

Another occasional poster here.

Merry Christmas Mick and all, I am currently in bed at our daughters listening to our grandchildren 10 and 4 open their stockings on Mummy and Daddy’s bed.

It’s joyous!

Wishing you all peace and love.

Morning Mick, morning All. A very happy Christmas everyone.

Grey out there, smiles in here. A very enjoyable Christmas part one yesterday will be completed by part two today with elder son and the teenagers. I’ll be barred from the kitchen and have nothing better to do than relax. I do twitch while much appreciating the thought. We’ll eat late today as our granddaughter is one of the many working on this day, her carer shift began at 6, she’ll only be happy when she sure all her clients needs are met.

Have the best day you can everyone.

BlueSapphire Wed 25-Dec-24 07:52:57

Good morning and a very Happy Christmas to everyone!⭐🎄🎁

It's a dull grey morning here at DD's in East Northants, but the tree lights will be on soon as we sit round and exchange presents. Seven of us.here, DS and DD-out-law, the two DGDs, DD and DS-in-law, and me, plus two dogs.

We had a lovely time yesterday with DD-out-law 's Swedish Christmas Eve dinner, becoming a family tradition.

Just crept out of the bedroom and found a nice fat stocking outside the bedroom door; after years of doing stockings for children, they do one for me now!
Will creep down in a minute and make a cup of tea.

Have a lovely day everyone.
