Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but remains dry here in brackley .
If the conditions are like yesterday should be very foggy outside.
Plans have an easy day , presents to unwrap plus have a Wiltshire Farms ready made xmas lunch and xmas pudding .
Health wise I am OK.
Take Care,
Mick

Happy Christmas Mick and all - will come back and read when things quieten down here - I am with DD1, son-in-law and two very excited DGCs - not the 5 year and 9 year who we will see tomorrow, but the 18 and 20 year olds 😂. The 20 year had a surprise present from her Mum & Dad - a record player -she was so excited she cried! A Taylor Swift album came with it.

Thanks for the etiquette of the thread, It had obviously been going for a long while so I just joined after it had started. I too would like to thank Mike for being there. On difficult days I look forward to reading all the things happening to everyone. LindaPat whereabouts in west yorkshire do you live? I had the service on from Halifax on the television, and enjoyed hearing them sing While Shepherds Watched to Ilkley Moor baht at. We use that and it is a great tune if you are walking and getting a bit weary.

Good morning, everyone!

I don't do Christmas being Atheist but I want to thank all the emergency crews - Police Fire and Medics - all over the world for being on duty on the 25th of December.

i thought that I had sent a first post of the morning very early on, but not sure what this thread is called. I just think if is Good Morning, so couldnt see anything so started another thread I think , by mistake. Please let me know what I should look for, I usually see Mikes post and follow that . Anyway A very happy Christmas to you all. It is bright, very still - not a branch moving on the tree - but looks very cold out. Havent ventured out at all yet. So I am on my own here today. Not expecting to see anyone, no plans to go anywhere or do anything, shall take things slowly, but be glad to restore things to their proper place, . Have my halfprice lamb for my dinner , which I shall enjoy. Of course radio 3 and 4 will be on non-stop, and later will enjoy "suck a thumb" tv of Call the Midwife and Downton Abbey. Started the morning very well as the first music on radio 3 was Benjamin Britten s Ceremony of Carols. I first sang that when I was about 6 or 7 at church and so besides loving the music, well sung, it has brought back many memories of people and places over 70 years.
Did anyone watch the lovely programme about Dave Myers - the Hairy Biker who sadly died this year. ? It was a most touching and moving programme, where they had a celebration of his life and many bikers went on a journey to Barrow in Furness, his home town. Si King and Dave's wife set it up I think . It was a programme of all that is good and caring. I never had the chance to meet the Hairy Bikers (which was a shame as you rarely get to meet lovely men who have great motor bikes and can cook!!) but they were always so genuine, showed you how to make some interesting dishes, in simple ways. We used to have a tent and go camping and also sailed, so I appreciate the efforts in trying to cook in a gale, or on uneven ground. They cooked and joked and enjoyed being with each other. So many bikers made the journey and people lined the road and over the bridges . This programme was not about greed and getting as much as possible for yourself, but about love and good friendship. They were not afraid to give each other a hug , and you could see their personal friendship over the years. Dave will be missed by us all, but I hope that the many people who wanted to be part of this occasion helped his wife and Si King to feel supported and to know that Dave will not be forgotten. God Bless them all on this special day.

Mick usually starts his good morning thread around 6 - or before - it's traditional to wait for him. He has been doing it a very long time.

Have a lovely Christmas Day.

Good morning and Merry Christmas to you all! 🎄

hollysteers Wed 25-Dec-24 09:52:42

Merry Christmas all from a damp 8°C northwest coast.
Spent quite a lot of time with final Christmas prep yesterday with DD and later DS arrived.
Looking forward to Christmas dinner, they cook and I will just set the table and make brandy butter, Then present opening.

They usually choose a side splitting film to watch, but maybe not this year after my surgery 😁
DGD arrives tomorrow and DS’ girlfriend.
I’m on cat feeding duty for neighbour’s cat until 6th January so must get round and feed the darling her Christmas meal.

All the best to all 🎄🌺

Good morning and Happy Christmas to Mick and everyone else on this comforting thread.

I’m relaxing in bed with a cup of tea in a still silent house. No children here but a lovely day and evening yesterday with DD4, DsiL and nephew.

Mass at midday and then off to join the rest of the family for Christmas lunch which will be great. Hopefully a rare and unhealthy breakfast first😂

Special thoughts to all for whom this will be a challenging day and very good wishes for the best day possible.

Good morning and Happy Christmas one and all.
It is mild and damp here but I won't be leaving the house because the family are coming here.
I have messaged my sister, she is now in a rehabilitation clinic in Germany. She sent me a photo yesterday her face is still barely recognisable and it is ten days since the accident.
I was busy the entire day yesterday but remembered to record the two carol services and watched them before bed.
Have a good day.

Good morning and Happy Christmas to you all from a grey, murky South Oxfordshire. It's my first visit to Mick's thread and the first Christmas I'll be spending on my own as my girls have commitments with their own close family. I'm not sure how the day will pan out as Christmas has always been a wonderful chaotic family time and I'm already feeling a tad sorry for myself.

But on a cheerful note, there's a tin of Quality Street and Gavin & Stacy to look forward to later - and the Girls will be phoning at some point,
