Good morning everyone from a not quite light yet Northampton; looks dry out, but not going out today, so not bothered what the weather does.

Spent a very pleasant day yesterday, catching up on tv programmes I'd recorded over Christmas - watched Call the Midwife, Gavin and Stacey, and a wonderful English National Ballet production of Swan Lake - this is the first version I've seen with a happy ending; all the others I've seen have the Swan Queen Odette dying, but in this one she didn't, and they lived happily ever after! A very pleasant surprise! Also watched the highlights of Saturday's rugby match again.
Still have a few programmes left to watch so hope to catch up on those today.

Home-made soup for lunch today, and macaroni cheese for dinner tonight.

Just ordered my prescription on-line, a bit early to allow for the Bank Holiday.

So sorry to read about your friend Ash. 💐

Good morning from a dry mist free Suffolk where we might, just might, have a little sun later.

We had a lovely lunch with DS and his tribe yesterday with lots of laughs provided by the 3 DGC. Today I’m meeting a friend for coffee and need to call into the garage to try and get someone to either look at the car’s heating or book it in.

On Saturday as DH and I drove into our nearest market town, the heating didn’t come on but suddenly came on when we were nearly home on the return journey. It seemed ok yesterday but we took DH’s Cara’s the restaurant for lunch was nearly 40 miles away. I hate intermittent faults!

Condolences Ash on the sad loss of your friend.

Hope all have the best day possible.

Good morning from a dry (so far) but dull Black Country.

Walking group walk this morning. Much needed as I feel rather sluggish. Then must pop into town for a birthday card for Mum. She will be 95 on Friday.

Christmas ham for dinner tonight. MrJ cooked it yesterday, so looks like Ham sandwiches for rest of week!

So sorry to hear about your friend Ashcombe Hope you have a trouble free journey home.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

GrannyIvy Mon 30-Dec-24 08:27:08

Good morning from a dry, chilly and dull Oxfordshire.

Dog stayed over last night for the first time in 5 weeks, builders have all gone so I expect we will get back into her routine of 3 days a week at ours, she isn’t any trouble and gets us out for a walk, although with a bird scarer going off every 30 minutes in a nearby filed, we have to time it just right as she is so scared of the big booming noise it makes.

Apart from that a normal house cleaning day.

So sorry for the loss of your friend Ash safe journey home.
MD hope you have escaped the family virus.

Have a good day everyone, safe travels to those out and about and hugs for those who are stressed or unwell.

ilovepuffins Mon 30-Dec-24 08:31:29

Thank you GrannyIvy

Grammaretto Mon 30-Dec-24 08:40:04

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's blowing a hoolie!

I tentatively put the wheelie bin out this morning. Other bins in the street have been blown over, contents flying.

Heavy rain forecast. My df is driving me to Clydebank today. Thanks for the good wishes and pms for my operation tomorrow.

That's sad about your friend Ash
Condolences 🙏
Wishing you a safe journey home and any others on the roads today.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all. I'm back from my glorious Christmas mayhem with DD and the combined families. Newman is a very accomplished cook, very organised, and large numbers to cook for don't seem to bother him at all. I suspect he might be a swan - you know, serene on the surface and paddling like billyo down below!
DGD3 did a wonderful job of driving us there and back. We were lucky with the traffic too. On the way south the whole of England seemed to be in the other carriageway heading for The Lakes or Scotland, and on our way home those same people were on their way home too! When we got back to her's we did the boot-to-boot swap, I donned my anti-glare night driving goggles and set off for the remaining two hours to home. Again, no problems.
Ash so sorry about your friend flowers.
Very sad to hear about your niece Puffin - it will indeed be a dreadfully long day ......
Today I'm off down to my great-niece's along with DD & Co to catch up with the LA contingent who are back home for a couple of weeks. And tomorrow I'm off back on the same hour's drive for a lunch to celebrate DGD1's 21st Birthday. They are then hoping to go to Edinburgh's Hogmanay - weather permitting 🤞
So never a dull moment as we say farewell to 2024. And somewhere in all that I shall have to fit in a food shop just in case I get snow- and ice-bound on top of my hill ......
Have a good day everyone and may those who are unwell feel better today x

Good morning all from the Suffolk coast.
Our journey up was trouble-free with very little traffic on the roads. Thanks Liberty, the A12 behaved itself , although a very bumpy ride.

The cottage took a good while to warm up and we are waiting for a new liner for the woodburner, so couldn’t light it. We’re nice and cosy now . The sky is lightening and the sun is emerging and the sea is calm, and no damage from wind storms thank goodness .

We’ll walk the dog along the beach this morning, do a bit of shopping and I’ll attempt to read more of my book club book. It’s slow and doesn’t hold my attention, so I might just read a summary and be done with it. Life’s too short and I have several others that I’m looking forward to starting.

So sorry to hear your sad news Ash.🙏.
Thoughts to all sick or worried grans.
A new year approaches with new possibilities. 🌟.

Take care

Good morning all.
Condolences to Ash flowers

We have been very quiet here for the last couple of days although we did venture out for a short walk and to buy a new windscreen wiper.
Later this afternoon we are going to the ‘Land of lights’ with DD3, SIL and youngest DGs. We will be wrapping up up warm as they are just over the flu. Let’s hope it doesn’t rain.
Ish if all a good day with a smile along the way.

Good morning from a chilly W Kent.
Ash condolences, losing friends is so sad.
Ilovepuffins Hope all goes well for your niece
Lovely afternoon yesterday spent with friends of 55 years. I think we all find it quite a comfort to be together occasionally now.
Today bed stripping and a pile of washing to get started. Shepherd’s pie at lunchtime, then a tv catchup session
Best wishes to all

Annypop Mon 30-Dec-24 09:06:55

Good morning from Centreparcs.
Yesterday was spent watching GC play football pool which they enjoyed. More forest walking, discovering areas we hadn't encountered before including a hidden gem of a lake.
The panto was the best one we've ever seen here and had the children entranced.
Back to DD and DS family lodge for an evening meal wound up the day.
This morning we're both booked in for the spa before we leave.
A wonderful end to a very happy weekend.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 30-Dec-24 09:11:21

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and still. A weak sun is trying to shine. 6°C at present, 9°C later. We’re still enjoying TIB and I’ve just suggested a run out on our ownsome to a huge garden centre near Warrington for a mooch. They have a lovely restaurant too. I’ll remind Himself to bring his wallet. .. we hardly ever go as we don’t have a garden (natch) but we do have a few tubs on the decking outside our front door.

Ash sad news indeed. Kalu glad to hear titrating your meds down is working and you are feeling the benefit. Sad fact about your shopping trolley though. I admire how much you count your blessings for what you had. Not everyone gets to be so well loved.

Thoughts today with all who struggle right now with bad news, ill health or mental anxiety. Life can indeed be tough at times.

Marydoll Mon 30-Dec-24 09:17:19

A quick good morning from me.

Condolences Ash.💐

Thinking of you Grammaretto. Best wishes for tomorrow. I had planned to come and visit you in hospital, but yesterday was a day of non stop vomiting. So not the best of ideas.
I haven't had any of my meds for two days, which is not good,
Another day in bed for me, I still feel awful. This virus has hit me harder than anyone else in the family.

I can't concentrate, so will just wish you all a pleasant day.

Grammaretto Mon 30-Dec-24 09:30:38

Oh no! Poor you Marydoll
I hope you throw the bug off soon or you'll be joining me in hospital. 😔
A lovely thought that you might suddenly appear 😀

Ilovepuffins thinking of your family flowers

Good morning all from Severnside. We have a dull sky.
Looks like a few of my neighbours have gone back to work.

Condolences Ash 💐

I’ve a few jobs to do before I’m off out with my brother.

Have the best day you can all.

Stilllearning Mon 30-Dec-24 09:43:04

Morning all from South Lanarkshire, I couldn’t get to sleep last night and slept late so once again I’m posting before reading or I won’t do it, will read with coffee later.
The plan is to go to my Giffnock family tomorrow and stay for a few days but the weather forecast is horrendous so I’m going to check and prepare in case I find myself staying here.

I was with my Aberdeen sister yesterday and read yesterday’s thread last night, Georgesgran, you hair disaster made me laugh out loud, I hope your Amazon order arrived to solve the problem!

Wishing everyone a safe and peaceful day.

GrannySomerset Mon 30-Dec-24 09:44:23

Waved the family off yesterday and kept the washing machine busy with bedding, towels, tea towels, table napkins etc. May have to erect the ironing board today because even I draw the line at unironed table linen - but then I won’t be using any of it in the foreseeable future …..

So a quiet day after the joy of company with lots of Christmas reading. Meanwhile I hope that all those felled by the various horrible bugs begin to feel better and that the awful weather forecast doesn’t wreck plans. Special thoughts to Gramaretto and anyone else with major events in prospect.

luluaugust Mon 30-Dec-24 09:44:55

Marydoll flowers fingers crossed the bug departs asap

aggie Mon 30-Dec-24 09:46:06

It’s a dull windy Co Armagh this morning
Eldest is due to arrive today , as it involves a ferry we aren’t sure of the time
Poor Marydoll I hope the bug vamooses pretty soon
So sorry to read about your friend Ash
