Welcome, Granmarie123! ! We,are almost twins! 🤣
Happy New Year. I hope 2025 brings you all you wish yourself. Whereabouts are you? You don't need to be specific, general area is fine. As Marydoll said, I'm near Glasgow and I'm a proud member of the Glesca Grans, who meet up regularly during the year.

Wishing Mick and all the GM people all the very best for 2025.

Thank you for the good wishes on our anniversary.
We have had a quiet day, grateful to still have each other.
Taken the Christmas decs down, enjoyed our steak lunch and a glass of bubbly.
Just put the recycling out as it’s bin day tomorrow- life quickly gets back to normal 😊
Hope everyone has a peaceful night.

Welcome Granmarie, there is a Glasgow gran with a very similar user name, this could get confusing! 😉

Grammaretto has been discharged from hospital, only a day after her op. I hope she has safe journey from West to East, it is snowing in her neck of the woods.

I'm VERY new here and finding it so encouraging (and less shouty than Mumsnet!) Good afternoon everyone. I wish you all a good 2025, especially those who are coping with previous losses, which always are harder to bear at this time of year and also those with scary things happening to them or their loved ones in 2025. I'm generally an optimistic type, although I can go into anxiety overdrive sometimes...I'm working on it. I don't believe that events have any respect for out boundaries such as 'New Year' BUT 2024 had so many stresses for me and my family and friends, that I'm hoping we've had our share and 2025 will be much better. I know that I can't control many things but I can control my reaction to events, so I'll try to do that. Also concentrate on my hobbies, the people who matter to me and my mental and physical health. Looking forward to many more encouragi.ng and understanding conversations on here

A happy New Year to all who share their daily lives with us on this lovely thread.
I hope for many it is a healthier one.

mamaa Wed 01-Jan-25 10:36:45

HNY to all you lovely lot. Quiet NY Eve for us, nibbles, Prosecco, Hootenanny and then bed.
New Years 1st foot basket brought in as the pipers were piping ( a tradition carried on from my dear Mum, her grandad was Scottish on her Mum’s side).
Steak casserole for dinner tonight, slow cooker so not much work.
Thinking about doing Dry January… have as good a day as you can folks xx

New to this but been reading for a long time. Weather is miserable so another indoors day. Didn’t stay up last night. Have had a miserable 2024 but hoping for a much better 2025. Wishing everyone the best in 2025.

Grannyme6 Wed 01-Jan-25 10:18:00

A late good morning from me and a wish that 2025 will be kind to us all.
A quiet NYE for us after a hectic Christmas, and we’re looking to get away for a short ‘sunshine’ break, so I must set to today putting away the decorations and sorting out the tree.

Happy new year, it is bright and cold in my bit of Co Armagh
I was in bed by ten o clock last night , a couple of trips to the en-suite, luckily I managed to get antibiotics for a uti before the surgery closed
No outing today , but my Daughter is cooking and I can nip in for a small helping
Oh that is a lovely knit Nativity Scene grandMatie
MD I hope you improve very very soon !

Am rather late to the party this morning, but can still wish a Happy New Year to everyone. Pouring with rain here, so a day indoors for me. Am recording the concert from Vienna, and will have that and the Nutcracker to watch this afternoon.
Will spend a bit of time later filling in my new 2025 calendar with significant dates.
May start my new book for January book club.

Had a bus trip out to the shops yesterday; M&S Food and Sainsbury's were heaving, but I got the stuff I wanted - ended up with a steak for dinner last night.
I have a nice mini turkey crown for dinner tonight and the leftovers will do me nicely for a couple of days.

Wishing all a pleasant New Year's Day.

hollysteers Wed 01-Jan-25 10:06:20

Good morning and Happy New Year from 8°C northwest coast.
I enjoyed my quiet day yesterday after so many visitors and just tidied up, sketched a little and drank a ginger wine at midnight. More of the same today.
I’m still on cat feeding duty and not enjoying my regular trips in rain and wind to neighbour’s cat . It’s a large house and I go round the back down steps.

Well done GM and congrats to the Thorntrees🌺

Morning all,
Happy New Year to you.
Grey, damp and breezy here today.

Taichinan Wed 01-Jan-25 10:01:38

Good morning and Happy New Year everyone. After the hectic and very social time with the family of late the welcome to the New Year was very quiet. I saw the old year out as usual and then walked round to the front door and brought the New Year in. Lots of WhatsApp messages from the family of course.
We celebrated DGD1's 21st yesterday with a lovely lunch at a Steakhouse in Dundee (her choice) and then DGD3 went off to work and the rest of them went off to Glasgow to a comedy gig. Judging by the photos at the bells it was a joyous evening!!
I hope this New Year is bringing with it an alleviation of worries, sickness and troubles, and above all the strength to find joy in small things x

GrannySomerset I think 2024 will be forever known as The Year it Rained ☔️

Beechnut Wed 01-Jan-25 09:57:19

Happy Anniversary to Mr&MrsThorntrees 🥂

GrannySomerset Wed 01-Jan-25 09:52:09

A very late start for me as I slept badly without the excuse of celebrating too enthusiastically. In fact I packed away the few Christmassy bits yesterday and didn’t even have a glass of anything so feel a bit of a grinch.

However, here’s to 2025 being a better year than 2024, internationally, nationally and personally. That’s if the rain ever stops!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 01-Jan-25 09:46:30

Happy Anniversary thorntrees 🥂

Beautiful nativity figures grandMattie

We have a post box near us which is yarn bombed according to the season.
The village between Gingster and myself is regularly yarn bombed by the local knitting club.

Ashcombe Wed 01-Jan-25 09:43:39

A poignant day for you, Redcar. I hope some good memories will help you through the day. 💐

weenanni59 Wed 01-Jan-25 09:40:41

Good morning and Happy new year from a grey and dank Ayrshire coast .
I don’t usually post here but new year new start 😀
I am going to pack away all the Christmas decorations later as we are going away tomorrow for 5 days .
I have all of my New year food prepped so I might grab a wee half hour to read my book .
Have a good day everyone.

ginny Wed 01-Jan-25 09:36:43

Good morning .
A quiet day here. Will have to venture outside to pick up a couple of plants in pots that have blown over.
Otherwise I plan to start on a sketching challenge and DH will start on a model of a tram that he was given for Christmas.
I hope all those who are I’ll or troubled find relief and wish a Happy New Year to you all.

Grandmabatty Wed 01-Jan-25 09:36:24

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and wet. A very Happy New Year to you all. My aunt and uncle are coming for lunch later so I will love you and leave you. Enjoy your day

Beechnut Wed 01-Jan-25 09:35:03

Wishing you all a Happy New Year from a very wet and breezy Severnside.

My daughter, her other half and their dog will be here later. I was meant to buy some basil for our meal and have bought thyme instead 😆oh well it’s all edible.

I’ll go back to the thread start and read your goings on.

Have a good day all 🎉🎉
