Happy New Year 🥳. 🎉🎊🥂. White rabbits 🐰🐇
Good morning from Bristol where it is mild, dry and windy.
I trust that those in the path of the vile weather are safe, dry and well.
I have finished my last Wise Man for the knitted nativity. I’ll post photos later.
After a quiet day yesterday,I didn’t stay up. It’s the same again today until this afternoon, when I have invited a few neighbours to come fo4 tea and cake, if they fancy a chat.
Many prayers to the sick and unhappy; good vibes to the travellers. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from s somerset, wind, rain, dull all day here

Yesterday I was happily busy, I made 12 ready meals for the freezer, all comforting winter meals. I made more hemp milk and knitted just 4 rows of my jumper. I have no intention of rushing that process as I am dealing with three different pattern blocks and circular knitting

I want to recommend a very good film on youtube, A rather English marriage. I stopped knitting to watch, one of the best films, ever

Today needs to be indoors

I wish you all the best for 2025

Good morning and Happy New Year to all for 2025. 🔔
Rain and gusty winds yet again in Glasgow.

If only the rain would stop I could at least spend some time in the garden, it won’t be today so another at home day and I might just make a start at packing all decorations away.

Hope all is going well after your op. Grammaretto
Marydoll fingers crossed you feel a bit better today.

Have a pleasant day all.

Marydoll Wed 01-Jan-25 06:39:50

Good morning all and a Guid New Year the and and all !
I think today may be another day in bed. It looks like Mr MD won't be getting his steak pie! The very thought of it 🤢

Guid New Year

A shout out for Grammaretto, who messaged us as soon as she got back to her room yesterday! I wish you a speedy recovery. What a trooper!

Kalu Wed 01-Jan-25 06:41:22

A Rather English Marriage sounds good and could be my viewing at some point today Karma. Thank you for the heads up.

Good morning all and a happy new year. Last night into the wee small hrs here on the east coast of Fife all 3 of us watched the Jules Holland show from the east coast of Fife, sadly but necessary the fireworks in Edinburgh had to be cancelled due to the high winds. I usually run to the window from my living room to look out across the sea to watch them but it was a no go this year. I watched the Jules Holland show with a delicious red wine spritzer, chocolates and crisps - a real treat.

Have a good day my friends and as they say in Scotland “ may yer lums reek” all year round”

Good morning and a happy New Year to you all.

The weather in Malta is fine with a high of 18°C and a low of 6°C expected.

Yesterday was a lovely sunny day so DD3 and I took the boys to Valletta where there is a fun park. I love seeing them so happy.

In the afternoon I continued with my emptying of kitchen cupboards, cleaning and reorganising them. I now have a rather large collection of jugs for the charity shop as I will never use them.

I was in bed by ten o’clock and slept soundly through the fireworks.

Mass this morning after which I will tackle the last remaining cupboard in the kitchen and possibly start on the ones in the living room.

Thinking of those who are poorly or who are worried about family members, and those of you who are bereaved. Going into another year without a loved one can feel like you are leaving them behind.

Thank you Mick and all on this lovely thread. Hope you all have a good day.☀️

Peace and blessings for the New Year from a very windy Torbay.

We were in bed before midnight and didn’t hear any noise thereafter. Perhaps the adverse weather deterred revellers.

Thoughts with those who are unwell or unhappy and safe journeys to any travellers. 🦩💐🌬🥰🦩

Good Morning and Happy New Year from Newcastle. The fireworks here were scuppered by the weather too.
I’m at DD1’s, but slept badly after a ridiculously expensive Chinese meal last night.
On my way home, I’ll collect Little Dog from DD2, for his regular sleepover.
My thoughts are with those who start ‘25 in ‘unknown or choppy waters’ or are ill and below par in one way or another. I hope things improve over time.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning and a Happy New Year to all. My two youngest DGC were allowed to stay up to bring in the new year and we had a lovely time singing and dancing together.
It was great fun but I’ve had a restless night which hasn’t been helped by letting the new Kitten share my room so I just want to greet everyone before, with a bit of luck, getting another couple of hours sleep!

Sending love and good wishes for a peaceful year for us all.

Good morning and bledhen nowydh da from a very wet and windy Cornwall. My youngest son and I saw the New Year in with ale and a Thai meal from M&S. We laughed a lot at his Amazon driver escapades and then ooh'd and aah'd at the London fireworks.

I slept soundly, snuggled down on his comfy sofa with the wind blowing at 60mph outside his second floor window. Today we'll just hang around and chat and watch TV until he drives me home later. No buses today.

This year I intend to get back to writing now that all my major ops are behind me, and look forward to the safe birth of a little girl to my nephew's partner, God willing.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a wet South Yorkshire. Happy New Year to you all. If there were fireworks last night I didn’t hear them. I was in bed by ten and asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. I made a start taking down the decorations yesterday and the spent the evening binge watching ‘Last Tango in Halifax’ and had forgotten what a good series it was. DD and the menfolk will be here later this morning for brunch. As there is a football match this afternoon we can’t fit in our usual NYD roast dinner.
My best wishes for the coming year to one and all.

Morning Mick, morning All. A happy, peaceful new year from a very windy corner of Somerset.

Enjoyed our delayed Christmas dinner and much to my surprise we were still awake to see in the new year.

A sorting out day ahead, hope to pack the Christmas decorations away, cleaning as I go. Mr C will change the bed and wield the vacuum. My major challenge will be to remember where I put the things I packed away to make room for Christmas.

Thinking of all who have health challenges or other personal mountains to climb. Wishing everyone the best day it can be.

Here are my knitted figures. They are in two separate places as I don’t have a table big enough…

Good morning Mick and all on this thread.
I wish you all Health and Happiness this new year, and thank you for being able to join you. On my own, but stayed up to greet the new year in. Glad to see the back of 2024, not been a great year for me with nothing good to go against getting cancer again, losing two very dear friends and the bathroom saga, so definitely hurrah for 2025. We always used to do the first footing etc and my husband would be pushed out of the back door with a piece of coal, a piece of bread and a shiny shilling. He had to come round to the front door and on the first chime of the clock would be greeted with a small single malt, and he would wish all who lived here health and happiness, and I would respond by giving him the whisky and then we would raise a glass an say happy new year to all family and friends far away. Then shut the door and go in to watch some fireworks or whatever. Well only one door here now, and sadly no lovely husband, and no sign of anyone out and about at all. But I opened the door to the New Year with a small whisky and wished everyone (All of you included naturally) health and happiness for 2025 and came back in to watch the viennese music. No room to dance still in here but lovely music never the less. So, today a bit more clearing up and throwing out rubbish, but just taking it gently. Will have music from Vienna to enjoy, and here we have a little tradition of fireworks - but no bonfire - on new years day up at reeth, so plan to go there for 7pm and enjoy the fireworks, and meeting old friends and their families. Hoping it doesnt pour with rain , but we ar not nesh round here and a bit of rain wont stop us! Have a great day everyone

Morning all from a wild and windy West Oxfordshire. Happy New Year for 2025.

All I’m doing today is going out for lunch at our favourite riverside restaurant! Oh! Ok maybe a bit of laundry. There’s only two of us so where does it all come from?

Ilovepuffins Wed 01-Jan-25 07:39:21

Good Morning and Happy New Year
Haven't look outside yet but it sounds very windy here in Oxfordshire.
Went for a lovely long walk in the grounds of Blenheim Palace yesterday afternoon and the GC took their bikes.
Then back to DD1 for a glass of bubbles and to see the new trampoline which of course I had to test out!
GS was trying to teach Grandma some fancy moves (as if!) but I said that's best left to him and and his sister! With so much worrying and sadness recently the laughter was just what we needed to keep us all going.
DH will go and watch his football team today and I will have a quiet day, probably taking down the Christmas tree and having a good tidy up.
Hope Grammaretto is doing well and best wishes to all.

RosesandLilac Wed 01-Jan-25 07:39:58

Good morning everyone and a Happy New Year 🥳
Wow grandMattie, those figures are absolutely gorgeous, you truly are so talented.
I have no idea what the weather is doing, I fell asleep at 8.30 last night and awoke at 7! The DGSs are downstairs with DH, DS and DDIL are still asleep and I’m enjoying my coffee (I have a Tassimo in the bedroom, no need to go downstairs!)
Yesterday was lovely, younger dgs and I walked the dog, DS cooked the evening meal and we had a lovely relaxed time just chatting. It’s so good to see them all.
Today they’re meeting friends in Bristol and I will enjoy cooking something nice for tonight.
I hope you have a lovely day 🌹

madeleine45 Wed 01-Jan-25 07:40:03

Just seen the photo of the lovely knitted nativity grandMattie. It is lovely and you are very talented to make such a lovely set. We have what we call the Yarnbombers in Thirks , who do the most amazing knitted things and they put them on the bollards in the square etc for all sorts of things. so for the coronation someone made a fantastic coach in wool , and the guards and crowns and all sorts of things and they are wonderful to behold and admire the ingenuity of the knitters. They are a secret group, so all you know is that one day there are the coronation things around and suddenly the next morning they have gone and there are fairground things, or for remembrance poppies everywhere. I recommend anyone coming to the area to have a look at them. There is always a theme and they decorate it all the year round. Happy knitting this year

Harris27 Wed 01-Jan-25 07:51:44

Happy new year everyone! You keep me going with you fun posts and great outlook on life. We went to bed early and the wind did howl! Hubby still asleep and I think of taking the tree down today which fills me with sadness as I love Christmas. However my I’m feeling a bit weird knowing this is my last year at work as I plan to retire this time next year. Fills me with fear and excitement both at the same time!

Harris27 Wed 01-Jan-25 07:52:38

Fabulous nativity grandmattie. Clever girl.

kittylester Wed 01-Jan-25 07:54:59

Good morning all from a very windy North Leicestershire.

My Fair Lady was fabulous as was our takeaway curry. In fact, we have lots of left overs in the fridge for picking at this evening.

Duck with a plum glaze for lunch - thank you M&S. And a lazy day with, maybe, a walk round to the Baptist Church to drop some stuff off at the food bank collection point.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Happy 2025!

Redcar Wed 01-Jan-25 08:01:33

Good morning everyone from Essex, it’s cloudy and windy but fairly mild at the moment. Heavy rain is forecast and I doubt I’ll go for a walk.
Happy New Year to everyone! I went to bed at about 11 last night , and was only vaguely aware of local fireworks. I watched the London fireworks at 4.30 because I’d been awake for a while, then went back to sleep until 7.15!
Saw my friend with dementia yesterday afternoon, but felt very sad as for many years she and her husband hosted a New Year’s Eve party. New Year’s Day is sad for me anyway, my DH died four years ago today. I’ll go to DD1’s later and DD2 will join us for tea and cake. Comforting to be together.
I’ll stay at DD1’s tonight as I have an early check up with the consultant tomorrow regarding my new hip. It’s settling in, but not as comfortable as the other one was at this stage. He did say it would be different from the first so I’m not surprised, but impatient to be fully recovered!
Have the best day possible everyone, sympathies to those who are suffering in any way.

GrannyIvy Wed 01-Jan-25 08:04:03

Good morning from a very windy Cambridgeshire.

Happy New Year let us hope 2025 will be a happy, healthy and peaceful one for all.

We had a lovely evening with friends but didn’t stay up to see the new year in for the first time this year! We have recorded the London fireworks on tv to watch whilst we have our breakfast.
Our friends will leave late morning and a restful day is planned.
