Labour has come under fire after refusing to hold a public inquiry into historic sexual abuse by grooming gangs in Oldham.

Scandalous I think.
I’m with Elon Musk on this re his comments to Jess Phillips.

Elon Musk attacked the decision as “disgraceful” and Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative leader, said a full national inquiry into rape gangs was “long overdue”.

Jess Phillips, Labour’s safeguarding minister, insisted it was “for Oldham council alone”.

Really Jess?

Maybe we should ask the victims whether they want another Inquiry?

All the victims that I have seen/heard interviewed want things to change and stop the abuse which is continuing.

There are men in this country who see women/girls as theirs to use as and when, regardless of age. A person is seen as fit for marriage as soon as they hit puberty, Islam marks this event when boys have their first seminal discharge and girls at menarche.

Islam doesn’t have an age of consent/marriage an infant girl can be married. The age of penetration according to most clerics is 9 years old, because of Mo’s example he set with Aisha.

What’s worse is aside from penetration a man can do almost anything else he wants to his wife at any age.

All and/or any U.K. authorities should not tiptoe round the above due to cultural sensitivity.

Nobody should be above the law, regardless of colour, ethnicity or religion, whether it be the Muslim cleric, Catholic priest, C of E Bishop or rich man on his Island (Jeffrey Epstein and Co.)

Maggie Oliver does know. Long may she keep going. My worry for her is that it is so deep rooted and involves people with power in this country, what might they do to stop her?

What on earth are you suggesting here?

Anniebach Sat 04-Jan-25 13:26:29

Seems the victims are of no importance to Farage and Musk and their admirers

Maggie Oliver knows what she is saying…

She also I imagine knows who and why is covering up…

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 04-Jan-25 12:44:35

If MO says ^Because those leading these “enquiries” have always wanted to cover up the truth^thats good enough for me. I’m with her, totally. This issue needs to be dealt with nationally. Not by little groups let by Councils.

Right, we’re going round in circles.
I’m out.

Donna Jones Police and Crime Commissioner of Hampshire and the Isle of White, has stated it is still going on! Very clearly there should be an enquiry.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 04-Jan-25 12:41:30

Here …. as it really does bear repeating, (thanks OhHowWeLaughed for the direct quote) …

Maggie Oliver’s own words:

“That’s not in truth what I said @nazirafzal . I said that ALL THESE ENQUIRIES including @IICSAVSCP Rochdale, Augusta, Oldham have all led absolutely NOWHERE! Nothing changes. Millions wasted. Lawyers getting rich defending the indefensible.

Because those leading these “enquiries” have always wanted to cover up the truth, to hide it. And I’d say it’s become even worse in recent months with those who dare to speak out finding themselves in prison within a couple of DAYS….. when victims wait 6/7/8 years for a trial!! Corrupt and just wrong!

I firmly believe we need totally independent people who will ensure it’s not just another attempt to delay and hide the truth. Radical change and overhaul of all our public bodies. And bring in. Criminal accountability for all our senior police and public officials who have turned a blind eye.

Those with vested interests who pop up when this hits the headlines then fade away again when it all dies down will not bring change. They’re in it for themselves I believe. Conservatives and labour are all equally to blame imo, and @Keir_Starmer as former DPP is perhaps as guilty as anyone I know in where we find ourselves today.

We all know what’s going on, but I don’t trust a single one of those who to date have been entrusted with keeping our children safe and prosecuting serial rapists. They’ve failed. Repeatedly. Knowingly. Criminally.”

Well posted OHWL - what Maggie Oliver Actually Said.
It bears repeating.
Read it again.

It encapsulates my support for a National Inquiry.

To join up the dots.
This is not just independent Council’s remit now. It’s too widespread and insidious. It’s STILL happening. It’s still in the news. Allegations. New instances.

Does this answer your question to me Jean@home?
It ought to.

Yes she is interesting, and brave.

Baggs Sat 04-Jan-25 12:21:35

There is a very good article in The Spectator about the grooming gangs. It is by Louise Perry. A version of it also appeared in her Substack, and she has written a book The Case Against the Sexual Revolution.
She is also host of the podcast Maiden Mother Matriarch.

Galaxy Sat 04-Jan-25 12:19:46

Dont know maybe not as low as the perpetrators and those who refuse to discuss it because they are guilty of institutional cowardice.

Anniebach Sat 04-Jan-25 12:18:59

Yes Lizzie using children for political purposes is vile

Ilovecheese Sat 04-Jan-25 12:18:02

Musk's comments about Jess Phillips could put her in real danger. He doesn't give a fig about children, he just wants to disrupt our democracy.

LizzieDrip Sat 04-Jan-25 12:14:23

despicable not disputable. Grr, predictive text!

LizzieDrip Sat 04-Jan-25 12:12:42

Musk is a disputable person.

He is using his platform to politicise the terrible events endured by children, in order to attack Keir Starmer.

We get it Musk - you hate our PM! Fine, that’s up to you, but don’t use innocent children to fan the flames of your own hatred.

How low can he stoopangry

MayBee70 Sat 04-Jan-25 12:04:25

Well, Farage is in a dilemma because of Musks support of Tommy Robinson who he has tried to distance himself from ( even though he and Robinson imo are two sides of the one coin).

Galaxy Sat 04-Jan-25 11:24:53

Ate you with the Democrats who place violent males in female prisons. If you do you are a misogynist, or perhaps it is possible to disagree with some things one person says whilst disagreeing with another.

Anniebach Sat 04-Jan-25 11:21:47

Good grief

Maremia Sat 04-Jan-25 11:05:34

FriedGreen Tomatoes, are you with Musk when he allows the posting on X of the vile message'Your body, my choice'?

Maremia Sat 04-Jan-25 11:03:30

FriedGreenTomatoes, are you with Musk in his support for the alleged rapist Andrew Tait?

HousePlantQueen Sat 04-Jan-25 10:43:06

I too am leaving this thread. No matter how many times information is posted, links given, still there are posters writing the same things, some seriously untrue.

Because Labour wish it all to go away. An inquiry is a vote loser for them!

That’s a silly comment. What they want is for the existing recommendations to be implemented. That’s far more important and will make more difference.

eazybee Sat 04-Jan-25 10:28:23

Child abuse is sick. Full stop.
The findings and recommendations of the 2022 Enquiry have not been implemented.
Starmer and Phillips are now in a position to rectify this, yet both have refused.
Why?
This is what needs to be investigated,
