He also wants Tommy Robinson released

I thought it might be good to give a reference for the Public Enquiry that I quoted above and has already happened

Please read the details of this very full and open enquiry including what was said by Andy Burnham the mayor and other key figures.

Something and nothing, regarding how "disgraceful" this government are.

Perhaps Mr. Musk would like to put that in his pipe and smoke it.

These grooming gangs are diabolical. They're nothing new and should have been dealt with very severely years ago.

Wyllow3 Thu 02-Jan-25 13:55:21

Valid point - why didn't the current government take it up?

FWIW, there has already been an enquiry in 2022

"Children in Oldham were failed by the agencies meant to protect them from sexual abuse, a review has found.
The independent inquiry was set up after allegations circulated on social media that Oldham Council was covering up what it knew about grooming gangs in the town.

Investigators said there were structural flaws in Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and the council's systems which were meant to safeguard children.

They found no evidence of a cover-up

It was just as disgraceful when the tories were in power, presumably?

Wyllow3 Thu 02-Jan-25 13:52:16

Had enough of his intrusive bullying.

FWIW, this is yet another O/P based on picking one thing out of possibly thousands of any given issue that "should have been done but refused" just to government bash

Why this particular issue? Why now? Why should "the government" take this on?

“Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative leader, said a full national inquiry into rape gangs was “long overdue”. “

so why didn’t her Government do something about it?

Elon Musk should keep his opinions to himself and concentrate on the safety of his cars.

I don't think Starmer was actually responsible for the decisions made at the time.
I'm probably wrong though, but I thought it happened just before he was on the scene.

I also think Musk needs to mind his own business.

he wants Jess to go to prison and for little Tommy to be released too.

I agree with you, FGT, about the lack of investigation into the Oldham grooming abuse but I am increasingly tired of Elon Musk's opinions of the internal affairs of countries foreign to him being quoted as though they are his business.
Surely no coincidence that this was discussed at length last night on GB News.

Ilovecheese Thu 02-Jan-25 13:46:41

Agree, he can mind his own business.

I'm with Witzend

Whatever the rights and wrongs, I firmly believe that Elon Musk should keep his nose out of our affairs!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 02-Jan-25 13:35:45

Scandalous I think.
I’m with Elon Musk on this re his comments to Jess Phillips.

Elon Musk attacked the decision as “disgraceful” and Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative leader, said a full national inquiry into rape gangs was “long overdue”.

Jess Phillips, Labour’s safeguarding minister, insisted it was “for Oldham council alone”.

Really Jess?
