Meghan’s launching a new lifestyle show on Netflix.

I won’t be watching as we don’t have Netflix.

The cake she was putting the finishing touches to looked delicious.

I very much doubt it, heart attack and a stroke, perhaps it’s his way of trying to reach her

I wouldn't have thought he (Thomas Markle) was well enough to pack up his life and relocate to South East Asia.

Anniebach Sun 05-Jan-25 08:20:24

Poor man, he cannot accept that she has cut him from her life

Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, has disclosed his intentions to relocate across the globe in an effort to distance himself from the 'awful drama' associated with being the Duchess' dad.
Meghan's father: I'm leaving America for a new life abroad ...
Meghan Markle's estranged father, Tom, is planning a 'fresh start' abroad in 2025 in the hope he can live out his final years 'in peace'.1

“The king could book on a plane to visit if he wished “ ?
Yes it is amusing now I agree , like a Disney film

I just wonder how relevant the average American will find her programmes. There seems to be a lot of poverty in the US. Probably about as relevant as most found Nigella's programs with all the cream and expensive ingredients she employed. Full disclosure, I only watched one or two because they just weren't relevant to the way I cook, but I have friends who regularly watched Nigella knowing they would never replicate her offerings. They enjoyed the programs as a means of entertainment, not instruction.

It all looks very beautiful, tasteful and healthy. Aspirational but, as you say Deedaa There seems to be s lot of poverty in the US.

We'll have to wait and see. 🤔

I just wonder how relevant the average American will find her programmes. There seems to be s lot of poverty in the US. Will many of them be that interested in watching her drifting round her organic vegetables and cooking "with love" in a luxury kitchen? Harry doesn't seem to have made much impact with his own Polo documentaries, which is another luxury interest.

^The king could book on a plane to visit, if he wished!^
Would you just turn up on a DC and DCIL's doorstep unannounced?

With, of course, the paparazzi in hot pursuit?
Especially when you were undergoing treatment for cancer?

Well, perhaps you might, I don't know.

Actually, I was supposing he may call and ask if he could visit.

No, I never turn up anywhere unannounced, ever. But if I must go round to one of our daughter I ask if I may.

I would find it hard to muster the degree of hatred towards anyone that some feel towards Meghan. It is very strange. But I guess sometimes we need a scapegoat and a focus for our frustrations.

Yes, I do find it strange too - especially towards someone you don't know.

Agreed.

I only read of her here, otherwise nobody seems to care. I'll never meet her, and I'm not at all sure she to whom she is "estranged" - the King certainly doesn't ever talk about her, does he?

The king could book on a plane to visit, if he wished!

I do believe people love a scapegoat - well done her!

It’s not her garden

escaped Sat 04-Jan-25 16:52:32

Yes, the only one who can be trusted not to put his paws on the worktops and pinch the food!

But should Guy even be in the kitchen with food preparation?

Allira Sat 04-Jan-25 16:41:16

I think they have three dogs, perhaps Guy is the most placid, being older.

escaped Sat 04-Jan-25 16:35:43

I've got it! Light bulb moment! 💡
You know the way Ned, (Nell and Nigel) accompany Monty round the garden on Gardeners' World and pull in thousands of viewers, well Guy the beagle is going to do exactly the same for Meghan?? He was certainly in two or three of the clips.
I'm OK with that!

Allira Sat 04-Jan-25 16:28:15

Aveline

Qué?!
I'll judge if I want to.

I'll help you remove the log from your eye 😂
You can look for mine.

(There I was thinking it was an eyelash or a bit of mascara.)

Stay at home mums is a new trend?

How could that be? I'm never on trend.

Surely it is possible to speak out against the harm social media can cause, while at the same time acknowledging that it can also have the power to do good?

Anniebach Sat 04-Jan-25 16:13:22

Sorry I cannot dismiss the hugging of bereaved parents and lecturing against social media, less than 12 months ago, and now using social media to promote a new money making venture
