Meghan’s launching a new lifestyle show on Netflix.

I won’t be watching as we don’t have Netflix.

The cake she was putting the finishing touches to looked delicious.

Meghan was a working woman before she met Harry and she may need the stimulation as well as the money.

Is this ironic too?

merlotgran Fri 03-Jan-25 11:10:40

With reference to the comment upthread about Meghan’s involvement with Grenfell Towers, I wholeheartedly applauded that as well as her Smart Works patronage.

I thought she had instantly found her niche and could have made such a difference.

What a waste of an opportunity.

MissAdventure I didn't say you'd said anything about Catherine's looks, I commented that there have been some very nasty posts commenting on her looks on social media. I'm sorry if you thought i was suggesting you had.

I stand by my impression that as soon as there's any criticism of Meghan, Catherine always seems to get dragged in for comparison.

eazybee Fri 03-Jan-25 11:05:19

^Good for her.
Working, bringing up her children, and still looks fabulous.^

I am assuming this is ironic.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 03-Jan-25 11:01:22

I wonder if her dad will tune in?
Probably.

buffyfly9 Fri 03-Jan-25 11:01:01

I doubt Megan "needs" the money. I just wish she would shut up.

I don’t have Netflix so won’t be watching. I expect US TV channels are flooded with Cookery shows just like British channels so I don’t think she will become the next Mary Berry equivalent in the USA.
But she is helping to make a living for her family.

MissAdventure Fri 03-Jan-25 10:52:48

No idea, because although I'm here, I'm not interested in any of them, particularly.

I just cant stand the thought of a whole series, with people glued to their TVs and criticising.

It's my own fault for getting involved. Should keep my nose out, so now I'm going to.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 03-Jan-25 10:52:09

However, I admit that when I see her face, I see her making a mockery of a curtsy to the late Queen. Never to be forgotten or forgiven.

Anniebach Fri 03-Jan-25 10:48:38

What about- Catherine, Prince Phillip, the late Queen have never spoken about their in-laws for money, unlike Megan who
has problems with truth.

MissAdventure Fri 03-Jan-25 10:45:23

There's nothing to defend!!
They're just two young women, going about their lives.

Allira Fri 03-Jan-25 10:44:11

MissAdventure

No, she got Mary Berry to do it, I expect. wink

😁

Well, it wasn't me!

merlotgran Fri 03-Jan-25 10:43:34

I don't know why Catherine has to be dragged into any thread about Meghan and Harry

This irritates me as well. Whataboutery is an easy defence.

Anniebach Fri 03-Jan-25 10:42:13

Agree Rosie and comparing Catherine with Megan !

MissAdventure Fri 03-Jan-25 10:40:40

I've said nothing about her looks.
I may as well have said the queen benefitted from prince Phillip's support, as he no doubt benefitted from hers.

It's how partnerships work.

Rosie51 Fri 03-Jan-25 10:36:31

May I just gripe about one thing? I detest this practice of filling a vase with lemons, oranges or other fruit as the 'support' system for flowers. I've seen plenty of examples in 'posh' magazines in the UK too and it's just a complete waste of food. Use wire, glass beads, anything but food.

Of course Catherine benefits from the help afforded by William's money and position, just as he benefits from her hard work and support. That's what family is about. I don't know why Catherine has to be dragged into any thread about Meghan and Harry, especially given the past year or so she's had. There have been some very snidey posts on social media about how her looks have diminished, no thought given to the aggressive treatment she'll have endured for her cancer.

pascal30 Fri 03-Jan-25 10:34:09

Well suppose the upside is that she can't really upset the Royals doing this.. as long as they are happy together at least the children are secure.. It seems very similar to a lot of those type of programmes but allows M to have control of how she presents herself..

MissAdventure Fri 03-Jan-25 10:31:52

Allira Fri 03-Jan-25 10:25:41

merlotgran

I will probably watch it as I like lifestyle programmes with a bit of glam!

We’re a critical lot in the UK when it comes to baking. I’d love Paul Hollywood to appear from behind the floaty drapes and comment on the wonky cake.

It looked better than my wonky cakes 😁 🎂

However - did Meghan bake it herself?

Calendargirl Fri 03-Jan-25 10:25:12

MissAdventure

Perhaps meghan should have her hair cut like Mary Berry? grin

Hmm, hers is more like Nigella’s I think.

MissAdventure Fri 03-Jan-25 10:22:37

Anniebach Fri 03-Jan-25 10:21:44

Was it her interest in food which caused a divorce from her first husband and moving in with a celebrity chef

Calendargirl Fri 03-Jan-25 10:20:59

all that long straggly hair hanging over the food

That’s not just Meghan though.

I watched a programme about M&S before Christmas, a woman who obviously trialled new products was shown making a luxury Yule log, her long hair was not tied back at all.

No one seems to bother about hair nowadays, the male chefs can be just as bad, with equally messy locks.

MissAdventure Fri 03-Jan-25 10:20:46

Why are people singing Mary Berrys praises then?
Surely you can all do what she does, too?
