I have far more clothes than anyone could ever need, I am sorting through my clothes prior to a house move.

I have nothing red, purple or yellow.

Are there colours you avoid and why?

Never wear black, brown, beige, peach, salmon pink, mauve.

Look my best in bright red, fuchsia pink, navy, Christmas green. Now drawn to burnt orange.

Now I’ve let my hair go grey… I would never wear Brown/beige colours … it does make a difference!!

I avoid wearing yellow, mustard, peach, grey, silver, charcoal, orange, and burgundy. They all drain the colour from me, as a blue-green-eyed blonde, with a neutral-pink pale skin.

I favour lilac, lavender, royal purple, violet, cobalt, navy, any shades of blue, cream, ivory, white, beige, black, pink, fuschia, cerise, raspberry, red, and some fresh greens (not sludgy or lime).

Silver jewellery looks dull on me, but yellow gold brightens me.

At 65 I think I know what suits me best.

Yellow, although I like mustard tones

I steer away from green, brown and yellow. I’m always drawn to blue clothes in the shops so I have quite a lot of blue clothes. Red, pink and lilac too.

Purple, grey and sometimes black.
They don't suit my fair complexion.

I never wear brown as it is the colour of my school uniform. Avoid oranges and yellows too just because I don’t really like them. My MIL persuaded me to buy a blouse in those colours and it suited me. But I only wore it a couple of times before giving it away.

Orange, pink and red together, and muddy colours. I much prefer pastel shades of most colours.

I never wear brown because it was my school uniform colour. I like green and blue

Musicgirl Wed 15-Jan-25 12:47:50

Pastel colours as they wash me out. Grey is the very worst, but if I wear black to a funeral I look as if I should swap places with the corpse. I find the autumnal colours suit me best - red, burnt orange, brown, gold and most shades of green.

Etoile2701 Wed 15-Jan-25 12:50:47

Orange, red and lime green

nexus63 Wed 15-Jan-25 12:51:49

i never wear brown or dark green, most of my clothes are black.

Cateq Wed 15-Jan-25 12:56:57

I have nothing orange in my wardrobe. As I had red hair my mum used to dress me in shades of Green, which was looked down upon by our Protestant neighbours, which was frankly ridiculous as parts of my family were Protestants. Obviously this was in 1960’s Glasgow, fortunately most people have moved on although not all.

boheminan Wed 15-Jan-25 12:59:26

Orange - with my red hair it makes me look like a carrot

pascal30 Wed 15-Jan-25 13:03:05

any pale pinky, mauvey, grey, beigy colour.
all blues
most oranges and yellows
patterns

EkwaNimitee Wed 15-Jan-25 13:03:55

Never blue or pink though occasionally cerise or dark navy. I generally avoid cream and pale pastels. My favourites are orange, green and purple, sometimes red, generally worn with black in the winter, stone or beiges in summer

Missiseff Wed 15-Jan-25 13:07:14

Green. I hate the colour.

Tenko Wed 15-Jan-25 13:10:09

I never wear brown or khaki green or the green of Barbour jackets , it drains my face . Orange I wear only with a tan .
I tend to wear blues, pinks, pale yellow , grey , cream and taupe , I can wear a pale sage green and with a black top I wear a scarfe to brighten my face . I rarely wear red or purple . I think I’m a spring or summer person although I’ve never had my colours done .

She777 Wed 15-Jan-25 13:14:57

Orange and red, they look awful on me.

Norah Wed 15-Jan-25 13:18:36

No yellow, mustard, orange, tan, cream, brown, olive green, peach, apricot, salmon. I'm a pale, blue eyed blonde (now silver) I prefer black, white, navy, grey, azure blue, aqua, cornflower, cerise, pink, burgundy, purple.

Lizzie44 Wed 15-Jan-25 13:21:49

Shades of blue/ aqua/ green are my colours of choice nowadays. Don't like navy - it's about 65 years since I left school but I still associate navy with school uniforms. My mother used to wear brown a lot - skirts, suits, handbags, shoes usually in what was known in her day as n-word brown.

MamguL Wed 15-Jan-25 13:21:54

Black, white and pastels. The white and pastels is about staining and being able to chuck it all in the same wash load. Then I added black, because after buying practical colours for years I ended up with an almost entirely black wardrobe, which wasn't very cheery

fifeywifey Wed 15-Jan-25 13:36:06

Beige

stillawipp Wed 15-Jan-25 13:46:58

I had my colours analysed in my late 30s and I was ‘diagnosed’ as a winter, which was absolutely right for me, so I avoid mutes autumnal shades and go for strong jewel like shades of most colours. Only one I really can’t wear is yellow of any type!
