Good morning from a mild County Durham.

Yesterday we went into the city to collect DH new specs, or thought we were going to. One lens was impossible to see through. Obviously a big error has been made with the prescription. Back for testing again next week!

I didn't find anything to wear for the Murder Mystery, only two clothing shops to choose from, so I'll be back looking online. The high street is very much "dead" here apart from cafes and restaurants.

Today we're off to a Market Town in North Yorkshire to have a wander around our Murder Mystery venue. It's a converted Town Hall which we've hired for a long weekend. We need to see and sort bedroom arrangements for our family guests, eighteen of us altogether.
We'll also check out a nearby restaurant for menus which we've booked for a family birthday meal. This has all been booked for over a year now and I'm so excited. Fingers crossed all goes to plan in a few weeks time.

Afterwards we're going on a short 3, 4 mile walk around the area. Exercise has been sadly lacking this week with no cold weather excuse.

Wishing all a peaceful day. Take care.

Good morning from a grey but dry Northampton, sunny spells are expected later.

Hairdresser yesterday where I decided to not have the usual cut, but a colour and then just a tidy up and let my hair grow a bit. It'll be a waiting game....

Dance classes this morning, then a hop on the bus to the shops as I am unable to get there tomorrow.

Bombay potatoes, rice and egg curry for dinner tonight.

Take care everyone and have a good day.

Good morning all from the Black country, another sunny day yesterday not as warm as Wednesday but lovely to see the sun.
Today DH has an opticians appointment it's in Tesco's so we shall do a shop afterwards.
My telephone appointment yesterday was to inform me my cholesterol had risen to 6, they will review me again in 6mths, all other bloods fine.
Gymstagran nice to see you posting unfortunately I won't be able to make it I'm on playgroup duties.
Have a good day everyone ☀️.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and slightly damp outside. Ash and bonnybanko 💐. Bellasnana that sounds very windy. Take care.
Yesterday I hoovered the house, tidied the kitchen, washed woollens and made bread before heading to the library. We have a lovely wee library here which I like to support. I had a lazy afternoon and evening and made spaghetti with meatballs for dinner.
Today I'll probably go to Aldi for food shopping. I fancy haggis so will buy a small one. I have towels to wash and dry and I think I'll do some cleaning. Then I can continue reading. Have a good day all

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s gradually getting light. It’s 5 degrees outside and looks damp.
ash a sad day for you and thinking of bonnybanko too.
I went for a walk yesterday, trying to gradually increase the distance gradually. I met a neighbour and chatted to him for 10 minutes or so, good to catch up on his news, but I needed a sit down with a coffee when I got home. Did some much needed housework later. I had a wander round the garden, the weeds seem to have survived the recent freezing weather but the rest of the plants are looking very sad!
Nothing planned for today, but there’s plenty to do indoors to keep me occupied!
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good Morning from a dark but not so foggy west midlands. I rarely post on this thread but there is a grans meet up planned for next Wednesday 22nd, 11am at the Exchange on broad St Birmingham. Posts on the meet up thread often vanish very quickly from " active". Everyone is welcome so I hope more people will come. My day today will include shopping cleaning and a training session.

RosesandLilac Fri 17-Jan-25 07:27:48

Good morning from a damp, dark hillside in south Glos, at least it isn’t foggy - it barely lifted at all yesterday.
I am looking forward to my weekend away , I need to pack my case and make sure I remember everything I need, I do have a list 😊 (I rather like a good list!)
I don’t have to be there until mid afternoon so will probably leave at lunchtime and have a wander around Stroud on my way.
Wishing you all a nice day 🌹

Good morning from a 3degree W Kent. A successful visit to the Audiology Department, apparently I am only a little more deaf than I was 3 years ago. Today it’s DH’s turn to visit the GP I hope she can help him. I am having a day in baking as I have a food delivery and a new mattress arriving.
Bonny flowers
Ash I like to light a candle remembering friends
Best wishes to all

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's dark but not cold. Roll on Spring. Here are the first snowdrops.

I was driven to the hospital for my cataract assessment. Luckily my friend has a blue badge having suffered a stroke a few years ago, so could park in the one remaining spot in an ocean of cars.
She unfortunately felt she was getting a migraine and we both panicked.
Only A&E could prescribe medication and we did not want to go there.
We found the hospital canteen and had a drink, cake and crisps all there was and she recovered!

Apart from the low January sun blinding her on the return journey, we finally made it home!

No adventures planned today.

GM flowers apologies for my stupid post yesterday.
I love the story of your videocall!

A sad day for you Ash

I'm surprised that the DGC like spicy food Baubles. How sophisticated. grin

Hoping everyone has a good day.

Good morning all from a chilly but dry North Leicestershire.

A slower start for us this morning after a week of very early starts.

I have Mount Everest to tackle and DH has a hair appointment.

After yesterday's early start, I collected Wolfie from school and spent a happy few hours with him and his brother and sister. Wolfie was thrilled to be able to beat me at darts (not difficult!) and I was impressed by his ability to add up the scores.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Bonnybanko Fri 17-Jan-25 06:58:48

Good morning from the east coast of Fife.

Yesterday was the second year of my DH s passing, however as they say, life goes on and it does whether you like it or not. My dd has booked an opera for us both to attend in March. It’s been on my bucket list for years. She’s such a kind and caring daughter (most of the time) I love her so very much❤️

My friends have a kind and caring day today x

glammagran Fri 17-Jan-25 06:56:38

Good morning all. No idea of the weather as I’m still tucked up in bed.

Went to DD2 yesterday afternoon as she had a phone consultation with a GP and it would have been too difficult with the noisy children in her presence.

Today I will collect some online orders from Next and M&S in Chippenham. Maybe a walk if the sun appears this afternoon. Cod with puy lentils, mash and spinach for dinner.

We are doing dry January as we do every year. Many people say they lose weight as a result but we never seem to as we are still eating leftover pannetone, stollen and cheese from Christmas so hardly surprising.

I’m pleased your cataract op went well GM. It must be great to be able to make out colours better. I struggle in poor light conditions to distinguish black, grey and navy in particular. Thoughts with you today Ash.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 17-Jan-25 06:55:00

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I’m having my eyes tested today. I expect to need a new prescription. I was born with a squint and have only had a few years where I haven’t needed spectacles.

I have WI admin to do - notes from Wednesday’s meeting to type up and two new members to put on the data base.

Have a good day.

baubles Fri 17-Jan-25 06:54:17

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire.

Childminding day so the usual routine of school/nursery pick up, lunch, dance class, dog walk on the beach and back to their house. I’ve made chilli for everyone, the children love spicy food.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Greyduster Fri 17-Jan-25 06:21:24

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a chilly South Yorkshire. Still dark but there appears to be a light frost again. Yesterday I went out with the walking group. Had a good ramble round the woods where the paths were not bad considering the recent weather. Lots of lovely sunshine slanting through the trees. Lunch with DD, and GS who is on study leave.
Some cleaning this morning and then a volunteer session at the school this afternoon. I hope to walk there and back.
Have the best day you can folks.

Bellasnana Fri 17-Jan-25 06:18:13

Good morning from Malta where it is extremely windy and expected to reach Force 9.

I set my alarm for 4am in order to be up to watch the tennis but I woke at 3.57! It’s strange how I invariably wake just before the alarm.😄

Hair appointment later and I am supposed to be going out with a friend this afternoon but will see how bad the weather is.

The boys visited yesterday and were their usual cheerful selves. They are such loving little boys, my heart is full when I’m with them.

A sad day for you Ash, lovely gesture to light a candle in remembrance of your friend.

Wishing everyone a good day.☀️

Mizuna Fri 17-Jan-25 06:15:47

Thinking of you today Ash.

karmalady Fri 17-Jan-25 06:15:44

Good morning from s somerset, seems to be overcast again today, dull all day

An at-home day for me today, I am expecting my organic delivery and need to get started on prep for visitors tomorrow. I have a crown prince squash to cut into small slices and it takes time

I did a plot visit yesterday, just two hours of work with good progress, the joy of being outside

Today I will be cleaning the essential areas, some pottering and a visit to town

Have a good day

Mizuna Fri 17-Jan-25 06:15:08

Good morning from a cloudy, calm Cornwall. I've loved the mists that descended this week - unusual for this area. My street looked very mysterious. I think all the weathers have their own atmospheres.

Anyway today I'll be housebound whatever the weather because my plug sockets have packed up. My landlord sent an electrician around within two hours yesterday but he couldn't source the problem. He's back at 8am today to continue his detective work by removing all the socket plates. I'll start moving furniture in a minute then sit around and sew until he has finished after which I'll rebuild my flat. 😄

Ashcombe Fri 17-Jan-25 06:06:31

Good morning from a chilly Sarthe.

Today is the funeral of a friend and Props team member from our theatre company who died just after Christmas following three months of investigations and treatments in hospital during which she remained admirably calm and positive. DH and I plan to visit a favourite church here to light a candle.

Thinking of all suffering pain and sadness today. 💐

grandMattie Fri 17-Jan-25 06:03:48

Good morning from a dry Bristol. The horrible persistent cloud and fog gave us a very gloomy day until evening when it cleared up a bit.

I apologise for having misunderstood the little joke aimed at MD and me.

I had a very quiet day, the only person I spoke to was my dear friend Rose from Sandwich. She owns the haberdashery and we discussed colours of fabric for the quilt I want to make, we were in hysterics because it was a case of the one-eyed leading the blind.

Neither of us could figure firstly, how to get a video on our phones. Having mastered that more by luck than judgement, the next hurdle was reversing the picture to see the actual fabrics. Then it was a case of “on the left, Rose. No, the other left” etc.

The fabrics have all been cut paid for and posted and I shall have them by tomorrow or Monday. Yippee.

DD has decided to visit me today, very unusual. She has also, finally, given me a date for us to go to the solicitor to sign my PoA. It has been a year since I started this quest. Honestly, all things legal/governmental are taking so very, very long.

Be safe, be happy! Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
