Good morning all. It's a sunny but damp looking day on the Angus coast - very stil.
I'm just about feeling human after yet another night of less than four hours' sleep after 4 am. I feel like a sloth but will have to pull myself together as DGD3 will be here later for some furniture moving which she doesn't know about yet followed by a meal at the town's last remaining restaurant as a reward.
Have a good day everyone - particularly you Madeleine45. I do enjoy your posts! You and Marydoll do put non-sleeping into perspective x

Good morning from a cold and grey Norfolk
Early start with the house work this morning before I pick up DGS from nursery
Bed sheets all changed ,dusting and hoovering done ,just waiting for DGS nappies to finish washing then out on the washing line
Take care

Morning all from dreich Kent. It’s so dank and still. Thanks Marydoll. I did have a look at the live stream from the church. I spent yesterday afternoon asleep, the last few days have really taken it out of me physically and emotionally. DH had to fend for himself - not a great hardship as there was plenty in the freezer and he is perfectly capable of looking after himself! ( ex- Grenadier Guard!). He’s on night shift tonight so I will have an early night. I have a face to face with a doctor tomorrow morning to check out the lump that was found by a nurse in Hogmanay.
I’m still feeling tearful but as Julian of Norwich would say ‘This too shall pass’. So a quiet day in prospect, and an early night. Have a good day GNers !

Good morning Mick and all from a damp 3°C northwest coast.
I enjoyed my night away with pianist friend 50 miles away In Cheshire. One has to make the same plans for one night as twenty nights in many ways, medication, cat etc.

I was very pleased with my tiny suitcase on wheels. Originally going to carry a weekend bag, it was just the job.
We had a nice lunch together, steak for me, then a look around the shops. In the evening we watched a Joyce Grenfell DVD as having not been in his new house for long, there is no TV set up. He tv is like a postage stamp next to mine, I have a ‘vulgar’ large screen, which I love.

My DD comes up from the south today for a few days so I will tidy round, cook a meal, sketch something and sing a bit against tomorrow’s music club.
Thoughts to all🌺

Good morning,
It’s a bit brighter than yesterday. Still grey, but a lighter grey.
Not a lot planned for today. Coffee morning group soon, but after that I’m not really sure although I suppose I should do the ironing.
I hope today brings some joy despite it supposedly being “Blue Monday”.

madeleine45 Mon 20-Jan-25 09:21:57

Good Morning Mick and everyone, from a grey and undecided north yorkshire day. Poked my head out of the door, very cold, but no snow or frost but sky looks as though it could rain at any minute.
Well trust me to be contrary. It is supposed to be blue monday the worst day of the year, but I am feeling not at all blue, but cautiously happy!! After a really horrible day of non-ending pain and frustration at what I could not do yesterday, today pain level down to liveable with, what I am used to and I am free to just think what do I want to do next, without working out how I can bend or turn et. So I am celebrating this by ignoring all the mess I couldnt deal with yesterday, and am only going to wash up and clear the kitchen - as I hate to come back to a crumby kitchen with nowhere to put down parcels. Then I am getting back into going out mode for winter. This entails checking on my box in the car to be sure I have clean plates cups and cutlery etc at the ready, then load up with thermos and caffetiere etc so I can stop where I like to make a drink and enjoy the view with my binoculars at the ready and radio 3 on the radio.

I plan to go down to Easingwold, a lovely little town , not too far down the A19. There are some people down there with some serious wealth. consequently a whole lot of different sorts of shops. There is a great book and jigsaw shop , with a wide range from small childrens to fiendishly difficult adult ones, so may go and have a look there. Then they have a couple of the poshest charity shops, where you an occasionally find some great bargain. Not usually for me as wealthy people usually are slimmer than I am but still it is a fun idea to feel able to have a look around. After yesterdays awfulness I am determined to enjoy today doing what I want, not feeling guilty about anything and then hopefully can look back on today as the start of better days in 2025. Wishing you all a good day whatever that may mean for you.Best wishes

Good morning everyone, it’s brightening up here in Co Armagh, the evenings have a real stretch now !
Walked to Mass yesterday, it’s easier than trying to get a lift , and I always see someone to chat ,
Everyone calls me by my name or my nickname , even the tiny ones 😀 I remember being afraid of the old , waiting for a reprimand
The crochet / knit blanket is looking good , I didn’t think it would be as good , another to finish , I need to tell everyone to stop doing squares ! The object is to give these blankets
to a charity or homeless hostel , we haven’t sussed that. X bit yet !
Hoping for a better day for those with pain or sadness xx

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where Alexa has just told me it’s 2°C, sunny later, maybe a shower and highs of 5°C later.

No plans at all today. Nice. The day is our own to do as we please. Laze about mostly I think. Need to start my book club read “The Whalebone Theatre” on my kindle. BC is a week on Wednesday! I’ve been watching a lot of Netflix and listening to BBCSounds podcasts so reading has gone by the wayside!

In fact there’s a Martin Clunes six part drama I want to watch too! Good job I’ve plenty of disposable time …. 😂

Beechnut Mon 20-Jan-25 08:49:30

Good morning everyone from Severnside. I can see a tiny bit of blue sky through the clouds.

Yesterday I loaded the car for my tip run today and put my Christmas decorations back up on top of the garage cupboard. It was very cold outside so I was glad to come back into the warm. I made some beetroot soup and watched a film.

Not long till the end of January and February is only a short one. 🌷

Good morning from a damp and dreich looking Glasgow.

Yesterday was a bit of a flat day, couldn’t find the energy to get going and spent the day watching TV/knitting.

DD1 is due any minute for her coffee drop in.

Have the best day possible all.

Marydoll Mon 20-Jan-25 08:35:55

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 6°C. Oh dear, some fed up posters here this morning. Like some, I just take each month as it comes.

I have been awake for hours, first painkillers of the day at 5am. I am counting the hours until the next dose!

We had a great day out at the Riverside museum yesterday, but it was so busy. I heard someone calling my name, an ex pupil who is a friend of DD's. I barely recognised him, but obviously I haven't changed much! 😄 He was there with another friend of DD's and their families. Of course, DH was not amused, I always meet someone I know and of course it would be rude not to chat!😉

DS and DIL treated us to a delicious lunch and I picked up a beautiful scarf in the museum gift shop, made even better by DIL's staff discount. I do love a museum shop.
Not surprisingly, I was exhausted when I got home and promptly fell asleep!
I was reminded of my days out with my mother. There was much hilarity, trying to squeeze me into the car. I could not lift my leg high enough to get in! A happy day out indeed.

Not much planned today. There is a huge funeral on, so I shall go to church and give my fellow sacristan a hand. There is much to do and he gets flustered.
I have a velvet/velour M&S sale dress to alter. I don't like the huge batwing sleeves. However, I am having trouble sewing it. My machine won't sew it, for some reason. I have changed the needle and rethreaded it, all to no avail.Does anyone have any suggestions?

You sound as if you are having a great holiday, brook. Good luck with the medical appointments and I hope you feel a bit better, Borrheid.

Have a pleasant day folks.

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 20-Jan-25 08:29:38

Good morning from a dry Oxfordshire.

A day of bed changing, laundry and housework, so I’ll pop back and read your posts later.

Have a good day everyone.

ginny Mon 20-Jan-25 08:28:13

Good morning ,
I dislike January and February too, in fact I just dislike all the cold months. At least this year I have a sunny holiday to look forward to forward to in February .
Today I am taking youngest DGS to a local toddler club and then he will stay with me until school pick up time.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Liberty Mon 20-Jan-25 08:25:32

Good morning from a still dry Suffolk . As we seem to be sleeping longer in the morning,we’re waking up now when it is light. A much better start to the day, I feel.

We have a meeting with our financial advisor and then nothing else planned apart from the dog walk and a visit to the vet’s to collect her medication.

I’ll make the best of this as a quiet day as the rest of the week looks busy.

Hope all have a good day.

glammagran Mon 20-Jan-25 08:24:45

Good morning eneryone.

Yesterday I made a a cake and we took it round to DD1. The children were exhausting. We have offered to take them off their parent’s hands next Saturday to give them a break. School pickup later. It will either be macaroni cheese or M&S mini pizza which are the only 2 meals DGD3 eats here. Her cousin DGD2 eats anything. What a contrast.

On Wednesday I have an assessment for my hip.

I’m so sorry about your daughter’s friend Bella. That is shocking. Grandmabatty I hope you are not too bruised after falling from a stool.

It is so GLOOMY again. And will be all this week looking at the forecast. Have a good Monday all.

Gingster Mon 20-Jan-25 08:22:26

Good morning all.

I think I’ll walk little pooch to the fields today. She hasn’t had a free run for weeks as it’s been either frosty or muddy. It will do her and me good to have some quality excercise. She misses her beach runs. We’ll wrap up warm! 🧣🧥🧤.

I don’t mind January with signs of spring on the way. Each month has its different pleasures. How tedious it would be to have the same weather all year.

I hope you all have a good day.🌱

GrannySomerset Mon 20-Jan-25 08:19:47

Another grey morning but with U3A talk this morning followed by a flower club lunch today will be very social and busy so I need to get on with it. Glad to see I am not the only one with the January blues and hope today brings something to gladden all our hearts.

Greyduster Mon 20-Jan-25 08:17:51

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dreary South Yorkshire. I didn’t sleep well last night and feel very unsettled this morning for some reason. I spent yesterday reading, knitting, and icing a cake for DD’s birthday. I used a different brand of icing sugar and when I poured it onto the scale it covered half the kitchen in such a fine mist that I had a full scale clean up to do. Never had that before. It should have come with a health warning! I used to enjoy decorating cakes - I really don’t anymore so I think this will be the last one.
Housework and laundry today and a trip out in the car. I’m another who absolutely hates January and February.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 20-Jan-25 08:08:02

Morning all from a chilly West Oxfordshire.

Our cleaner is due this morning and I will do the weekly Waitrose shop. I will also pop into Specsavers. My new glasses are on order but I just need to check one of the pairs.

The other thing I need to check is where my new car has got to! The last I heard it was on a ship coming from South Korea.

It is my baby sister’s 67th birthday today. She lives in Sydney but is currently in New Zealand attending a wedding. I can still remember the day she was born. It was a snowy day and dad told me I had a new blonde haired, blue eyed sister.

Have a good day.

Good morning all from the Black country dark but dry.
Dentist this morning hopefully he can repair my chipped front tooth, he has repaired it before many years ago you can't notice it but my tongue keeps catching it.
DH has his download from his ICD all done remotely sometime today.
Nice time with family yesterday and we have booked a short break October half term to Barmouth. Dgs2 has had a bladder infection passing blood hopefully caught in time and antibiotics do the trick, but poor little thing trys to avoid the toilet because of the pain.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans ☀️

Good morning from a gloomy County Durham.

I spent yesterday recovering from my Saturday theatre trip with my DC to see Joseph which was spectacular. The time just disappeared so quickly, the sign of a great show. Our seats were perfectly central with an unobstructed view of the stage. Being short I usually end up with a giant head in front of me. DD2 amazed me as she was able to compare the production to the one she saw as a 7 year old. It had obviously left an enormous impression.

A meal afterwards then drinks in a bar nearby. All very quiet for Saturday night in a big city but then it is January. The Premier Inn was just a short walk from the theatre to end a wonderful day. Having my DC to myself was a gift for me too.

I shall continue recovering today. School pick up later and it will be a chicken pasta for them for tea.

Wishing all a peaceful day.

Good morning from dark South Lanarkshire.

I must get outside more, I’ve been leaving much of the dog walking to DH and I’m getting quite lazy. I’ve an appointment with the practice nurse this morning so if it’s dry I will walk down.

DGD had a good game yesterday and her team won
the match so she was a happy girl. Netball is much more fast and furious than when I played (badly) at school.

The house needs some attention paid to it so this afternoon a little cleaning is on the agenda.

You’re doing so well Grammaretto.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Jaxjacky Mon 20-Jan-25 07:55:44

Morning, 3 and it looks cloudy. I had a brisk walk yesterday returning with cold hands and nose.
Grandson scored a hat trick at football and was man of the match. We at last won the meat draw, twice, in our local, a half leg of lamb and a decent sized haggis.
Voluntary phone today and a dental visit 🙄 quiz tonight.

Good morning from 1 degree Kent. Cleaner coming this morning and I have a pile of ironing. We may go to Bluewater later to walk as it is too cold for us outside.
Best wishes

Good morning from a dull and chilly Black Country. Such a contrast to last week in Gran Canaria! I love each month as it comes, it means I woke up and am still here smile

u3a Canal group meeting this morning, where trips are planned for the coming year.

Line Dancing this afternoon with my friend.

Wishing you all the best day possible.
