Good Morning from Mid Lancs: sick and tired of January - I'd cross January and February clean off the calendar.......

grandMattie Mon 20-Jan-25 05:49:49

Good morning from. Bristol. It’s still cold, low single figures, and I’m starting to run out of accumulated summer heat -rather like an old stone building storing it…. Tiresome.
I had a quiet day, apart from the church service yesterday. We had a rubbish sermon; I like something that I can think about and ruminate on.
My new quilt is started. I’m not sure I have enough fabric but shall manage. Project for a few weeks now.
This afternoon, I’ve got a WI meeting, where I’m serving teas.. I’ve made gluten-free brownies and have some raspberry biscuits. I hope they like them. What’s left can be used for the FAB cafe on Wednesday.
May the new week bring only peace and contentment. Carpe diem 🦩🦩❤️🦩

Good morning from Malta where it is forecast to be a sunny day with a high of 18°C and a chance of showers later.

I’m up watching tennis after which I will shower and go out for a walk in the sun.

Thank you for your kind comments on DD3’s friend yesterday. It certainly is heart-wrenching.

Hoping for a good day for everyone.☀️

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and dry. It's to be foggy. GrandMattie your baking sounds delicious.
Yesterday I looked after dgs2 for a couple of hours while dgs1 was at a party. He was very well behaved, however dgs1 wasn't so dd brought him away early. I meant to visit mum in the afternoon but fell asleep for over an hour! Obviously I needed it.
Today is early childcare day. I'm getting into a routine now with drop off and pick up. I should have been going to a friend's house for an hour or so, but she's cancelled because she's unwell. So a quiet day for me. Have a good day all.

Good morning from s somerset, dull, cold and humid, again

Craft group today and the remainder will be indoors. I might do some baking, probably currant buns and ginger biscuits

I did 2 hours on the plot yesterday and I am making very good progress with some exercise. It is lovely to have somewhere to go. It was 3 degrees but I dress in 3 layers and can cope with 2 hours outside

Have a good day

Good morning from a dry NE, don't think there is any frost.
SIL came yesterday and we went to the supermarket and stocked up on non perishables.
We had an early dinner and he left earlier than normal to pack, he is travelling home to Brussels this morning.
Don't feel like doing housework today so I think I will finish my novel and catch up with Traitors.
Have a good day.

Morning Mick, morning All. Another grey day forecast, it feels colder than the temperature is, couldn’t get warm at all yesterday.

Ironing and more photo sorting this morning. We’ll sort a new battery for one of Mr C’s many watches this afternoon, stretch our legs and I’m sure have a cuppa. Pain levels and grey skies are getting me down now, feel very flat.

Hope Monday is kind to us all.

Good Morning from Durham. Still dark, but above freezing apparently, although my new boiler (I call it Merlin) has kicked in, as if by magic.
Usual coffee with my friend this morning, then onto Tesco for my usual shop, plus extra, as my SiL has invited herself up for a few days this week. She’s the gold medal shopper, so it’s all planned out already.

Best wishes to all. X

Grammaretto Mon 20-Jan-25 06:51:24

Good Blue Monday morning all from the Scottish Borders.
I am much more able and forgot I had a stick a few times yesterday.
I must try walking a bit further today
My hip replacement was 3 weeks ago tomorrow.

DSiL is visiting me this afternoon. I don't think I have seen her since DMiL's funeral in 2023. She's staying
in Edinburgh for a few days.

The film at the community cinema last night was a bit of a weepy. Maggie Smith in the Miracle Club about some Irish women in the 1960s
going to Lourdes looking for cures.

I hope everyone has a nice day
despite its reputation as being the most depressing day of the year!
😧

Good morning everyone from a still dark and chilly Northampton; 0°C outside; will need to wrap up warm when I go out later.

My visit to the phone shop yesterday ended up with a new phone at the same price I was paying for the old one. Spent the afternoon setting it up, which meant much searching for passwords, but it was fairly straightforward - apart from having to look up a video on how to transfer the SIM card. Have ordered a new case and screen protector for it which should be with me today.

Out this morning to the dressmaker to get my new long dress shortened, ready for my cruise in April. Must remember to take the right shoes with it.
Then home to tidy the kitchen, retrieve a veggie chilli from the freezer, and spend the afternoon reading.

Wishing all a good day.

Good morning from 1 degree Cambridgeshire. January does seem to be going on forever , the skies are so grey and gloomy and it feels so cold. I have January-itis as my grandmother used to say! Roll on Feb.

We did a walk across the fields yesterday and very few walkers which was unusual. Today we will walk again at a local NT property and then it’s school pick up and dance class for the 10 year old and me whilst the 6 year old will go to his gym (first one back this year due to his chicken pox) with DD2. Monday mayhem resumes 😂

Have a good day everyone

Good morning all from a chilly but dry North Leicestershire.

This morning I intend to do some batch cooking to restock the freezer. This afternoon is part 2 of our current Carer Learning course. Our venue this time is fairly grotty, chilly and with poor facilities and we have a large cohort of attendees. Hey ho!

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from Spain, much warmer and brighter than at home in Inverness
Pleased to hear you’re making good progress with your new hip grammaretto
Yesterday we wandered through a Sunday market, I ended up buying a pair of lightweight comfortable casual trousers that fit perfectly and a lovely top. Then lunch in the old town and a wander along the promenade, it was busy with lots of Spanish families out on a Sunday afternoon.Today we’re planning to get the local bus further along the coast and then a walk back
Enjoy your new phone BlueSapphire sounds like a bargain 👍
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, grey and 2 degrees again. Beginning to get light. I didn’t go for a walk yesterday as it felt too cold. Did some ironing but there’s still a pile of it to do. DD1 and family came in the afternoon and stayed for a couple of hours, which was nice.
The plan for today is to walk a bit further, hopefully will be a degree or two warmer than yesterday! Also need to do some admin.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from my bed back at home in south Glos, it’s cold, wet and dark k here.
A lovely weekend spent doing Creative Embroidery, it’s so nice doing something different. It was icy, sleeting and snowing on my way home, thankfully less than an hour’s drive.
A quiet week ahead, suits me fine!
Wishing you all a good week ahead 🌹

Good morning from a getting light midlands. Blue Monday. I too would cross January and February off the calendar! Fedup! I’m heading out for a long walk.

EkwaNimitee Mon 20-Jan-25 07:44:52

Good morning Mick and everyone from a still dark Carlisle where it is 2°C and dry.
Unlike others on here, I don't mind January, the days are lengthening, the snowdrops and primroses are in bloom, the wild birds on the Pond are chasing each other around, spring is coming! Unlike dreary November when all of winter is still ahead of us, the days still shortening, and Christmas over-hype is in full swing! Still, I have to admit I'd rather be spending all winter in Spain like DH and I used too...

Yesterday was a quiet day of admin and reading, today will be a busy morning of bed changing, laundry and other housework. I think I'll spend part of the afternoon investigating and probably booking a little spring break, something to look forward to. I'll maybe pop into the garden if it's not too cold.

Wishing you all the best possible day and hoping all you poorlies are seeing improvements.

Another good morning from the Midlands. The days getting that little bit longer, January is my least favourite month, love to see the back of it.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 20-Jan-25 07:46:47

Morning everyone

As it’s dry I am walking to the gym, then back home to wrap birthday gifts.

School pick up, and pottering.

🙋‍♀️

NannyJan53 Mon 20-Jan-25 07:49:14

Good morning from a dull and chilly Black Country. Such a contrast to last week in Gran Canaria! I love each month as it comes, it means I woke up and am still here smile

u3a Canal group meeting this morning, where trips are planned for the coming year.

Line Dancing this afternoon with my friend.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

luluaugust Mon 20-Jan-25 07:53:29

Good morning from 1 degree Kent. Cleaner coming this morning and I have a pile of ironing. We may go to Bluewater later to walk as it is too cold for us outside.
Best wishes

Jaxjacky Mon 20-Jan-25 07:55:44

Morning, 3 and it looks cloudy. I had a brisk walk yesterday returning with cold hands and nose.
Grandson scored a hat trick at football and was man of the match. We at last won the meat draw, twice, in our local, a half leg of lamb and a decent sized haggis.
Voluntary phone today and a dental visit 🙄 quiz tonight.

Good morning from dark South Lanarkshire.

I must get outside more, I’ve been leaving much of the dog walking to DH and I’m getting quite lazy. I’ve an appointment with the practice nurse this morning so if it’s dry I will walk down.

DGD had a good game yesterday and her team won
the match so she was a happy girl. Netball is much more fast and furious than when I played (badly) at school.

The house needs some attention paid to it so this afternoon a little cleaning is on the agenda.

You’re doing so well Grammaretto.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from a gloomy County Durham.

I spent yesterday recovering from my Saturday theatre trip with my DC to see Joseph which was spectacular. The time just disappeared so quickly, the sign of a great show. Our seats were perfectly central with an unobstructed view of the stage. Being short I usually end up with a giant head in front of me. DD2 amazed me as she was able to compare the production to the one she saw as a 7 year old. It had obviously left an enormous impression.

A meal afterwards then drinks in a bar nearby. All very quiet for Saturday night in a big city but then it is January. The Premier Inn was just a short walk from the theatre to end a wonderful day. Having my DC to myself was a gift for me too.

I shall continue recovering today. School pick up later and it will be a chicken pasta for them for tea.

Wishing all a peaceful day.
