As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.

Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.

A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.

I am hopelessly out of touch with the Kitchen. I’ve so much going on in my life that I am unable to get it down onto paper (or screen!) in any coherent manner.

However, I do TOYA and wish you well. Xxx

‘Evening All’.

I’ve enjoyed a very pleasurable, socially active day. Coffee twice, different venues then watching L’il Miss at her swimming. Home for roast chicken and a dram of Cardhu malt whisky. 🥃

GrandmaC47 Wed 12-Feb-25 20:24:58

Reading your posts is inspirational.

Today a slow cooked enough chicken chasseur for three meals and a large pan of a family favourite, corned beef stew enough for four meals.

Opticians appointment tomorrow, my friend is going with me to help me choose new frames, then we’ll have lunch somewhere.
Hope all those with worries get relief and all medical matters get resolved.

brook2704 Wed 12-Feb-25 20:16:25

Hope your back is a bit less painful tomorrow redcar take it easy!
Broccoli soup here with grated cheese stirred through and a swirl of cream on top!

brook2704 Wed 12-Feb-25 20:14:11

Hi kitchen pals, hope everyone is doing ok especially all in the quiet corner x
I can hear the wedding bells Jax, the venue looks lovely and September will soon be here. Pleased to hear things are a bit better for your DD and family ❤️
I’ve had a busy day, a couple of new classes at the gym and then we picked up the DGC from school and everyone came back to ours for tea. All went well, we don’t get much conversation with DGS now that he’s 11, just a shrug of his shoulders or a don’t know when asked about school - On the other hand DGD never stops talking! Lovely to see them both though
I’m still getting used to the new gym grannmarie, thanks for asking -early days but I think it’ll be ok. There’s so many different classes to try out so I should find something to suit. It’s a bit further to travel than before but right next to a nice cafe
Pleased to her your DHs appointment went ok Yia
Sounds like a good day grandmabatty, especially the escape tunnel 🤣

Redcar Wed 12-Feb-25 20:11:24

yiayia I’m pleased for you that your DH’s appointment went well, hopefully he won’t have to wait too long for the operation.
jax well done for booking the Registry office for your son’s wedding.
grannmarie I’ve had a quiet day again today, but my back is still quite painful. I hope it will improve tomorrow. I had a short walk this morning using both crutches, then have pottered about. I don’t envy you your early start tomorrow morning, I hope the car isn’t iced up!
Definitely still soup weather, I need to get some veg to make some, I have a food delivery tomorrow and have cheated by ordering some M&S fresh soup, which will last me until I can get to the Farm shop for vegetables.
Have a peaceful evening everyone, keep warm!

Grandmabatty Wed 12-Feb-25 20:00:31

Jaxjacky I'm sorry to hear that your daughter has had difficulties. Hopefully things are looking up now. Grannmarie split pea, ham and veg soup tomorrow

Grannmarie Wed 12-Feb-25 19:37:14

Crossed posts, Jaxjacky. Glad to hear that you've booked a pretty venue for your son's wedding, and that things are improving for your daughter and family.
Such is parenthood, we're happy if they are happy! 😊

Grannmarie Wed 12-Feb-25 19:31:09

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Soop, may I second Charleygirl's kind advice? Just to put your minds at rest. I hope MrSoop's sleep has been restorative.

YiaYia, glad your DH'S appointment went well, fingers crossed 🤞 for his operation. I am driving a family member to a day surgery tomorrow, I'll need to be on the motorway for 8am, it's a long time since I've done that. Early bath and set Alexa!

A very productive day indeed, Grandmabatty. I, too, have a ham hough in the fridge. It's still soup weather, -2 forecast overnight so my car is in the garage to save time defrosting in the morning.

Glad you have found a gym again, brook, you always enjoyed your classes and company. How does it compare to your previous place?

Hope you're having a quieter day and feeling a bit better, Redcar.

Glad you made it to the party, Grannygravy.

No Coffee Morning today, there was a funeral at Church this morning. I didn't know the person so I didn't attend. I've been to quite a few funerals recently.

This afternoon, I met my childhood friend for coffee and a catch up. It was her birthday yesterday so I had a small gift and flowers for her. We had a good blether, lost track of the time!

Wishing everyone a peaceful Wednesday evening and a good night's sleep.
Special thoughts to those in the quiet corner. TOYA.

Jaxjacky Wed 12-Feb-25 19:24:23

Well done GG13 but go steady!
That’s hopeful Yia a constructive appointment.
Good news for you Grandmabatty the progress from the PG Office can be tortuous, I’m always impressed with the Passport Office as a a government body
I’ve had a good day, my daughter and family have had some struggles in the last few weeks, I can’t share sorry, but there is some light now
The wedding for my son and fiancée is now booked too, 19th September! It’ll be in Romsey, a pretty registry office, not the Abbey!

Charleygirl5 Wed 12-Feb-25 19:04:26

soop Please tell your GP about Mr Soop's recent setback. It would be good to get medical reassurance. That was not normal, so he should know.

Grandmabatty Wed 12-Feb-25 18:40:01

Yiayia I'm very glad the appointment went well.
Today I boiled a ham hough and stripped it ready to make soup tomorrow morning. I also made a large pot of mince and vegetables and had some with mashed potatoes and dumplings for dinner. I have loads left, so some will go in the freezer. I hoovered and generally tidied up too. I worked at the school for as n hour and a half and bumped into dgs1 who was digging an escape tunnel. 😂 I also met dgs2 who came into the library space with the nursery staff and his grandad. He was very surprised to see me. I've received mail from the Office of Public Guardianship too, so things with mum are moving forward at last! All in all, a good day.

Yiayia4 Wed 12-Feb-25 15:56:10

Thank you all. The appointment went quite well. The consultant feels an operation is the way to go although it may not be successful.!! They will only go ahead if the anaesthetist is happy. Its a fairly small operation so should be O.K He said it will be in about 8 weeks all being well.

Another grey day,DH’s chicken schnitzel for dinner.Take care everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 11-Feb-25 22:14:33

Good news about your evening GG13 you made it! Sans leg brace too - woohoo! Go carefully tomorrow don’t get cocky.

Hope all goes well Yia at the appointment for your husband. Reassurance and A Plan. 🤞

Nannytopsy Tue 11-Feb-25 22:14:18

Take care Redcar - another easy day is a good plan. Best wishes to Mr soop and Mr Yiayia.
Can I ask for some better weather soon? Pretty please?!

brook2704 Tue 11-Feb-25 22:07:48

Hoping Mr Soop is feeling a bit better soon Soop, sending ❤️
A busy day here, DH dropped me off at the gym and then I enjoyed a riverside walk back into town to get the bus home. Not done much this evening except try to stay awake!
The furniture shop and restaurant sounds good grandmabatty, nothing like that here 😕
Hope everything goes ok tomorrow Yia x
So pleased you could make it to the Birthday meal GG13, special memories made and hope the over excitement wears off soon

GrannyGravy13 Tue 11-Feb-25 21:17:28

Just back from the birthday boy’s meal at local Indian restaurant. He was tired and emotional as was the Imp.

His celebrations with his school mates yesterday meant he wasn’t in ned till gone 9pm, followed by a full school day and the excitement of being 10 was too much.

He is here for a sleepover tomorrow night, time to reset and calm down.

A positive is, I have had several hours without the leg brace today, gentle bending of the knee, so far so good.

Night night, don’t let the bed bugs night 🙋‍♀️

Jaxjacky Tue 11-Feb-25 21:03:54

Hi Kitcheners, good shout staying in FGT it’s horrid out, cottage pie and veg here.
I’ve entered the realm of trying to book a registry office for the wedding, gosh the web site is unwieldy from our council, I’ll persevere.
Best wishes for tomorrow Yia 🤞
Fingers crossed too that Mrsoop perks up

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 11-Feb-25 20:46:45

‘Evening All’.

It’s been really cold here today. I met a friend for coffee in the square then just hunkered down. Fleetingly we toyed with the idea of putting on our coats and heading off out to eat tonight but then decided that staying home and warm was nicer so I prepped some sprouts …. My favourite veg hehe! Obviously not just sprouts. 😂

I’ve been binge watching ‘Motherland’ since I watched ‘Amandaland’. I missed all 3 series back in the day. Easy sit com with some wry chuckles!

Redcar Tue 11-Feb-25 20:19:11

I hope mr soop is feeling better now, thinking of you both.
nannytopsy at least your gardening lady arrived today, but i’m sure you’d rather have had a visit from the washing machine man and a working machine!
yiayia I hope that your DH’s appointment goes well tomorrow.
I was at DD1’s today, keeping the dog company while DD and her DH were in the office all day. The dog walker took the dog out for an hour, but she was still quite boisterous when she got back. Muddy paws too. DD2 came round and put petrol in my car for me- my hands are too weak to squeeze the petrol hose.
I was busy yesterday, but stupidly did too much, my hips are fine but my back is quite painful today. It was good that I wasn’t at home, I could rest most of the day. I’ll have a quiet day tomorrow too.
Have a peaceful evening everyone, keep warm!

Grandmabatty Tue 11-Feb-25 19:18:50

My best wishes to Mr Soop and to you, dear Soop.
I dropped off the boys then home to empty and load the dishwasher, hoover throughout and tidy my bedroom. Then out for lunch with two art friends and a good blether. We went to a fairly local furniture shop which has a fabulous restaurant. It's so popular that you have to book a table! Then I picked up the boys and came home to play catch with dgs1. Dgs2 wanted to just chill and watch tv.
I've just had spaghetti bolognaise courtesy of dd and I'm watching Henry VIII and his six wives. I loved it when I first saw it.
I think I'll as I'm for an early night. Have a good evening Kitcheners

soop Tue 11-Feb-25 17:00:36

Mr Soop is very drowsy. He is sleeping more than usual. He maintains that he is recovering from whatever it is that has knocked him sideways.

Thank you for all your jolly updates. I am never too far away. Continue to take the best care of yourselves and those that you love. smile moon

Yiayia4 Tue 11-Feb-25 16:47:51

Do hope MrScoop is feeling better today, thinking of you both.
Lovely to hear from you Niene Le Touquet was great we went many years ago and nothing has changed very much.

It’s so cold and looks like snow.Sadly it rarely snows here.My eldest DGS is going skiing next week with his college group so hopefully they will have plenty.Lucky chap we loved our skiing holidays back in the day.

DH has an appointment with his consultant urologist tomorrow let’s hope he has a plan.
Stay warm everyone.

Nannytopsy Tue 11-Feb-25 11:47:08

The gardener came and I taught her how to prune a climbing rose. We shall revise our learning next week on New Dawn! The washing machine engineer has not yet received the part. 🤬. They have had week to send it from Nottingham! I await a call …
There’s still a cold wind and it’s awfully grey.
PCC meeting tonight, so I had better get on with printing minutes, agendas etc.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 10-Feb-25 22:30:14

A late hello to you kitchen people.

I’ve had a busy day. Waitrose shop this morning and the afternoon at my friend's over the road . It was our craft group. Always fun.

My Australia jaunt is getting closer. Elder son rang this evening and offered to pick me up from Heathrow on my return. I said he didn’t have to because he will have an hour and a half drive to take me home. But,.he pointed out that Kew is hardly any distance from Heathrow. Mmm. I think he likes driving, as do I!

Sleep 💤 tight.
