I've just heard that my brother in Australia has cancelled his 70th birthday lunch next month due to ill health . He ended up in hospital yesterday with a suspected heart attack, but has several other issues. Sorry to bring despair into the kitchen.

I took a Nytol last night and although I was still awake at midnight I have only just woken up.
Oh the shame!!

I must shake myself up as my neighbour comes after lunch for coffee and cake.
When I went to her last week she wasn’t well, a usual thing , and she didn’t want coffee herself so we had a glass of Bailey’s at 2.30 pm!!
That won’t be repeated today.

I must confess something here, I don’t look forward to Wednesday afternoon, my friend brings me down with her negativity and can only talk about her family.

My family think I should not meet her but I would feel so guilty as I am the only person she sees , her family all live a distance away.
My GD says the it is all very well me cheering her up but it is at cost to me.

I hope our “hostess “ is soon able to join us in her lovely kitchen, I am sure we will leave it sparklingly clean and tidy for her.

I forgot about the buffet! I made a marmalade and breadcrumb cake the other day. Let me know what it’s like. I’ve also got a batch of rum and ginger muffins, which I know are good!

I'm adding mini chocolate cupcakes courtesy of Aldi. The boys love them (grandma does too). It's brightened up here. I've tidied the kitchen, got soup in the freezer, put the rubbish out and a washing is in the machine. I'm off to the school library in a while.

I've made chilli and cheese scones and brought some butter as they need loads - well, they don't really but any excuse.

Happy time! I've just got back from my first cardio appointment in FOUR YEARS. Hospital being re-built, utter chaos, took 40 mins to find a parking spot, then had a 10-minute walk around the outside, up & down stairs, long corridors badly signposted, and which idiot decided to place the cardio unit so far from the entrance? The happy part? He's signed me off! I'm now officially without a heart problem. Worth all the hassle getting there! I thanked him so profusely that he coloured up, right over his ears, bless him. Feeling very perky for the first time in ages.
