As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.

Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.

A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.

Hello GrandmaC47. Blenheim is easy to reach by bus from Oxford and you should be able to get to Oxford by train. Enjoy!

GrandmaC47 Sat 08-Feb-25 20:17:27

Reading your posts lifts my spirits.

Dh still has a swollen leg and isn’t too mobile, which frustrates him (and me).

Just had a long phone call with DD1. She wants to arrange a short trip for her and me. She suggested Belfast to visit the Titanic museum but I reminded her I won’t fly. So I’ve been taxed with finding out how to reach Bletchley Park and/or Blenheim Palace from Co Durham by train. You can probably tell we’re history buffs. Our last outing pre Covid were the Cabinet War Rooms in Downing Street and the Western Approaches museum in Liverpool.
Wishing you all a good weekend.

Thank you Granmarie.
I think it’s why I take loads of photos on my iPad. So much better than sending them off on a Kodak film. No cost & immediately accessible!
Isn’t technology wonderful?

Right I too (like LLFL) am off to binge watch the last 2 episodes of Amandalands! Night all. x

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Keep smiling, dear Soop, hope things are improving for you both. 💕

Welcome home, brook, I hope you warm up soon, although we have very cold weather forecast for the coming week. Your Spanish sojourn will have done you both a power of good!🌞
Hello 👋 Grandmabatty, enjoy your sleepover with your DGS1, sounds like you'll soon be having both of them! It's lovely to hear about the two of them playing so well together. Hope your Mum is doing OK and the hospital is keeping you well informed.

The Wee Boy was five yesterday, so our usual Friday school pick up was transformed into a happy birthday celebration, with Spiderman birthday cake. Mummy and Daddy had finished work early and lovely Other Granny was there too. We had great fun playing with his new toys - transformers, lego and fighting robots - and hearing about his birthday experience at school. His teacher gave him a cool pencil case. He is one of the youngest in Primary One as the cut off date for enrollment was February 28.
Today was his "official " party for 26, schoolfriends and cousins, at the local soft play centre, where Spiderman made a special appearance- great excitement all round!

TOYA, enjoy your weekend wine and takeaways, I hope Grannygravy is pain free, hope Redcar's mouth is comfortable, glad to hear that YiaYia and DH had a good break in France. Stunning photo!

FGT, what beautiful hair your wee DGD has! Crowning glory indeed. I used to play at hairdressers with my DGD when she,was younger. She'd sit at my dressing table after her bath, and she would be the customer, giving instructions on how she wanted her lovely auburn hair styled. I'd be the hairdresser, trying to persuade her into something acceptable! Sometimes we'd change roles, great hilarity, lovely memories. 💕 You'll treasure these times in years to come, very special.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Saturday evening and a good night's sleep.

Good idea Jax thanks 🛀
Well done to your DGS Yia hope he gets the grades he needs 👍

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 08-Feb-25 19:15:13

Your dinners sound good! We’ve got fish finger butties on white Warbie’s bread and butter in ten minutes. 😂
Saturday night dinner rocks!
In the meantime I’ve just poured myself a malt whisky.
(Cardhu) one of my favourites not too smoky. 🥃

Jaxjacky Sat 08-Feb-25 18:40:20

England 🏉 🙂
A quiet day, weather drizzly, so paper and sport, bed dropped to my daughter’s, now assembled.
Surprise dinner GG13! Although curry sounds good NonGranny, we’ve got an M&S pie with veg.
Once you’re ’bone cold’ brook it’s hard to get warm, bath maybe?
Have a pleasant evening all

Nannyropsy I have been watching the rugby game from behind a cushion 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 👏👏👏

We are shouting for England at the moment while the DGC ignore it. DGD is doing arty things, following handwriting practice (secretly incorporating spelling! Nanny wasn’t a special needs teacher for nothing!)
Her brother wanted SATS practice. Such pressure on an eleven year old.
What to have for tea? A Chinese takeaway I think, before the diet starts again.

Hello kitchen people.

I had another couple of trips in my new car. Love it! I bought a rose scented air freshener just to finish it off!

One of OH’s beekeeping/shooting friends visited him this afternoon. OH been feeling a bit isolated. He has just gone in the kitchen and will make chicken curry for dinner. Tomorrow’s dinner is beef bourguignon, which I’ll make.

I think OH will be watching football tonight on his laptop so I’ll watch the final two Amandalands.

Enjoy your evening.

Such cute Dollie’s FGT. I miss all the girlie stuff, having 4 grandsons and 3 sons.
My eldest DGS has just been excepted for Bath uni his favourite choice now ,just got to get his grades.🤞

Steak for dinner and a cheeky French Rose.Sante🍷

brook2704 Sat 08-Feb-25 17:32:16

Hope you’re back up on your feet soon GG13 but in the meantime enjoy the rest! 💐

brook2704 Sat 08-Feb-25 17:31:01

Enjoy your evening together grandmabatty 😀😀
Peshwari naan - my favourite too!
I’ve not seen grannmarie for a while either but I’m a bit behind with the news, I hope all is ok x

Grandmabatty Sat 08-Feb-25 17:14:48

Dgs1 is here and his noodles are cooling. He's helped me move his bed to a different wall, ready for another bed for dgs2. At the moment he's watching a programme about snakes- his latest obsession - while lying on the couch cushions on the floor. Brook I hope it doesn't come to anything. NonGrannyMoll I've had a craving for Indian food for ages! That sounds good. Redcar fingers crossed that your tooth settles. Has Grannmarie been on recently? I'm missing her wise words.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 08-Feb-25 17:04:38

‘Chief cook and bottle washer’ comes to mind GG13!
Hope you sleep better tonight. 😊

Redcar Sat 08-Feb-25 16:58:36

Another grey, wet and cold day, I really would like to hibernate until it gets warmer. I wonder if warmer, drier weather would help my new hips - I don’t know why it should, but I can but hope!
I had to visit the emergency dentist this morning, to deal with a very achy tooth. It’s better, but feels bruised and now needs root canal work which my usual dentist will do. It will be a soft dinner this evening - lasagne maybe.
Changed the bedclothes, washed and dried them, but haven’t done much else. I’ve read the papers and have some magazines to read next!
Enjoy your evening everyone, keep warm.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 08-Feb-25 16:51:12

Aah how lovely FGT

I have no idea what DH is going to conjure up for dinner tonight.

He popped to Aldi’s and the butchers this morning, I have just added onto tomorrow’s Waitrose delivery the couple of things he forgot.

He is doing his best, unfortunately I am not a patient patient and he is not a natural nurse, but hey ho we are getting by.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 08-Feb-25 16:30:34

Ooh enjoy! Sounds delish.
Himself just wandered in. “What are we eating tonight?”
Me: No idea just waiting for inspiration….
(Good job the larder is well stocked downstairs). 😮

NonGrannyMoll Sat 08-Feb-25 16:22:15

Going for an Indian meal tonight for the first time in ages. The biryani, cheesy-peas and peshwari naan have been calling me all day....

TillyTrotter Sat 08-Feb-25 16:16:03

Oh FriedGreenTomatoes that’s adorable. My own DD put all her dollies to bed each night before she got into bed.
Such a lovely age.
soop keep wearing that smile, and everyone else who can.
I believe we can turn some negative thoughts to positive if we set our minds to it.
It sure is chilly and I feel fortunate to be inside a warm house.
Wishing everyone a Good Evening.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 08-Feb-25 15:55:29

An early ‘Evening All’.

L’il Miss came over for 3 hours in total. (Who’s counting? One happy but tired grandma). First we played dolls. Dressed them all then took one out to the library and Starbucks. “Let’s not take two babies grandma because then that means just one has to be left behind, so only Emmy today.” Okay.

As we put on our makeup together at the bathroom before leaving the apartment …

She makes me laugh.
“Alexa, play ‘I can Count on You’. 🎵 🎶
Me: who sings this it’s nice
“Bruno Mars grandma”
They grow up so quickly….

brook2704 Sat 08-Feb-25 15:47:31

Hi kitchen pals, hope everyone is doing ok especially those in the quiet corner, sending hugs
It’s not got much above freezing here today, we’ve gorgeous blue sky and sunshine but it’s bitterly cold. I just can’t seem to get warm at all and feel a bit achey, I think it’s the cold weather getting to my bones.
We went out for coffee at one of the local garden centres this morning, came back with more plants - not that we can do much with them just now as the ground is so frozen.
A new hip to look forward too nannytopsy good for you 👍
Well done to DGS1 grandmabatty sounds like he’s coming on really well and DGS2 with his role plays. Mine loved playing shop and cafés and the scenarios gradually got more complex as they got older. It ended up with one playing at being homeless and trying to get a job in the cafe to pay the rent 🤣
Your DGD has lovely hair fgt - hope you’ve enjoyed your time together today

Grandmabatty Sat 08-Feb-25 15:34:21

Excellent news Nannytopsy

Jaxjacky Sat 08-Feb-25 15:18:21

Happy news NannyTopsy fingers crossed for the new hip, you’ll be a new woman
