As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.

Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.

A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.

Oh crikey, GG. Poor you. I do hope the pain isn't too bad. As Utbb said, it's pay back.

We are happy to listen to your moans.

GrannySomerset Wed 05-Feb-25 17:06:00

How awful, GG, and beyond frustrating. Hope it stops hurting soon and that DH is up to nursing duties as well as catering, housework, shopping etc. Mine was brilliant for about three days and then got bored with it so I hope you fare better.

Jaxjacky Wed 05-Feb-25 17:03:53

I am so sorry to hear this GG13, the shock and injuries, you must be truly fed up and that’s putting it mildly.
I just hope you heal as quickly as possible xx

Oh dear, poor you GrannyG what a palaver .
It sounds as if you will be laid up for some time
Now the family can step to return all that you do for them.
I hope you are not in too much pain.

Feelingmyage55 Wed 05-Feb-25 16:49:18

OUCH! GrannyGravy you poor soul. Under such horrible circumstances you must indulge in Gransnet, binge watch Netflix, Amazon Prime and download as many books as you fancy onto your kindle. You could knit, sew, darn and cross stitch at the same time. Have a side table with a flask and snacks and a little bell to ring for attention. Not forgetting Ask Alexa for radio and music on demand. (Can you tell I have been laid up after a fall?)
Please take care (and I hope I have not offended by seeming to make light of it).

Grannmarie Wed 05-Feb-25 16:41:39

Aww, Grannygravy, I'm so sorry to hear that! Sounds very painful and limiting.
Elevate, ice, ( gin?) remote control, rest and recover. 💐📺
Hope your pain relief is effective.

GrandmaC47 Wed 05-Feb-25 16:40:15

GG13 ouch! Hope you’re not in too much pain.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 05-Feb-25 16:30:07

Hello dear kitchen friends 🙋‍♀️

Well what can I say, my day hasn’t gone to plan. I tripped up on my drive this morning (I was going to the gym) I knew I had damaged myself.

DH took me to A & E, I have ripped my left knee down to the bone, it has been flushed out and stitched, I have got a leg brace from crotch to ankle to keep knee joint immobile. It doesn’t stop there, I also broke a bone in my right foot 🤷‍♀️

My wings are well and truly clipped.

The main challenge will be to keep off of GN 🙋‍♀️

soop Wed 05-Feb-25 14:07:30

flowers and a comforting hug for Grandmabatty including all our Kitcheners who need some tender loving care. It would be ideal if, from time to time, we could sit down together and commiserate or celebrate in person. hmm

Nannytopsy Wed 05-Feb-25 00:44:50

LLFL ibuprofen gel such as voltarol can help too.

Grandmabatty difficult time for you 🌸

Have come up early to bed, headache is being stubborn and I want to avoid a full blown migraine,

Night Night 🙋‍♀️

Hello kitchen people.

Well, I had my first experience of electrolysis on my chin today. Eek!!! Half an hour of pain. I’m going back next week and will take a couple of paracetamol beforehand.

I popped a bag of clothes into one of my local town’s many charity shops. Then Waitrose for the weekly shop.

I spent the afternoon with friends. Tea and biscuits and a chat.

Have a good evening.

Grannmarie Tue 04-Feb-25 21:20:58

Grandmabatty, so sorry to hear that about your Mum. Hope you can get a more detailed update from the hospital tomorrow so you know what to expect. You are wise not to give up all hope just yet, ladies of your Mum's vintage are made of strong stuff, we say ' Clydebuilt' in our neck of the woods!
Thinking of you. 💕🕯

Beautiful words, Jaxjacky. Well done on your clean bill of health.

Hulahoop. 💐
My sister said she didn't know that fear of recurrence was 'a thing' until she heard about it at her post op group support meeting. Then she wished she hadn't.

Thinking of everyone facing health worries.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening. TOYA.

Grandmabatty Tue 04-Feb-25 21:00:11

Thank you ladies. I appreciate your sympathy. Jaxjacky that's a lovely way of putting it. We've been in this situation before where she's refusing to eat or drink, so I'm not giving up all hope yet. However she has lost so much weight and really doesn't want to be here anymore.
My shingles jab is making my arm throb tonight! I hope it settles soon. I'm off to bed to listen to music. I've just had a wonderful evening with Radio Boom Rock, reliving my teenage years with Dire Straits, Yes, Neil Young and many many more. It was lovely. Good night all

Jaxjacky Tue 04-Feb-25 20:53:30

The sunrise of your boys start in life Grandmabatty and the sunset of your Mum’s, poignant 🌹
The optician today, I’m such a worrier for anything health related ‘what will they find?’ Well, not a lot in reality, no sign of glaucoma, diabetes or anything else untoward, just the tiny start of a cataract, what a dope I am!
I skipped away and MrJ had an extra big hug when I got home.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 04-Feb-25 20:27:08

Extra stressful for you Grandmabatty with a non-communicative brother. A double whammy. 💐
You have your head screwed on though so that’s good.

Grandmabatty Tue 04-Feb-25 19:54:08

Good evening Kitcheners. A busy day with the boys creating mayhem twice, but tidied up now. My brother messaged me to tell me mum has been moved to a single room but wouldn't give me any more information. He's a difficult person. I suspect she's very poorly. She has, once more, stopped eating and drinking so I think she's shutting down. I'll give the hospital a ring tomorrow.

‘Evening All’.

I went with a friend to see the new Mike Leigh film today ‘Hard Truths’. The acting was stellar. The plot unsettling and sad. Himself wouldn’t have given it house room. We are SO different in our choice of films! 😂
We never go to the cinema together, no point!

Came home, chatted, then decided to go down in the lift to the Loungers Bar below us. I popped some chicken thighs in the oven before we went out, on a low light. The staff downstairs say we could just have a fireman’s pole fitted! Enjoyed a large glass of rosé then back up to the smell of lovely cooked chicken, which we ate with coleslaw from the larder. Lazy, me? Ha!

In sorry to read some kitchiners are feeling low ,think we are all ready for some sunshine .
I sometimes get a bit anxious about recurrence Fgt losing my breasts didn't bother me really it's what caused it that does that but I'm grateful that I've had several more years with my family.
Jaxjacky something to look forward to in a jeans person but like long dresses in the summer.
It reached 11 degrees here this morning it was nice to be outside for a while but unfortunately it's rained this afternoon.

soop Tue 04-Feb-25 14:54:09

By gum, there is the blackest of clouds looming. We have just experienced a rattling hail storm. Hey ho...as our Baggs used to say.

For all our Kitcheners awaiting engineers or whatever, stay strong. Such matters do eventually get resolved.

Away to strip the bed. After which, a half hour spin on the exercise bike, followed by a game of Scrabble. I do not know how I shall survive such excitement.smile wink

Nannytopsy Tue 04-Feb-25 11:32:42

I think you going to have to start some revision Jax! We used to do well at the beginning and tail off as the wine took hold 😆
WI committee here this afternoon, so cleaning and baking biscuits. Then I need a shower as the washing machine engineer arrived early this morning. He has gone away to order a new pump …. Sigh.
The central heating engineer has yet to return my two calls. Sigh again!

Jaxjacky Mon 03-Feb-25 22:41:05

I’ll have tombuy a frock Grannmarie!! People will be shocked, I’m usually in jeans/shorts.
utbb you sound really fed up, I think Christmas knocked some of the joy from your life, I hope you manage to find some soon
Sounds wonderful Yia enjoy every minute
PS we were fourth in quiz..again

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 03-Feb-25 21:56:06

You sound glum tonight utbb. No interest in things sounds like you’ve lost your mojo. I hope you find it again very soon. Tomorrow hopefully. Maybe a good nights sleep will see you right. Best wishes Stockport lady. x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 03-Feb-25 21:52:20

‘Evening All’.

What a bossy car LLFL 😂
We’ve enjoyed a quiet, pottering day. No cooking. Snack foods from our larder suited us perfectly. I’m enjoying my mug of Horlicks before turning in soon. I watched a sweet gentle film this afternoon.
Happy holidays Yia!
My sister in Estapona emailed to say it’s chucking it down over there now and one of my LWW friends said Benalmadeña had torrential rain and thunder storms today!

Redcar Mon 03-Feb-25 17:04:16

llfl my DD2’s new car also beeps when she goes over the speed limit, it’s quite irritating. It doesn’t display a cup of coffee though! It’s certainly higher to get into than my Fiesta, but I don’t find it easy to get into. If I had one I’d no doubt get used to it.
I’m glad your DH has an appointment date.
utbb I’m sorry you’re feeling down, I hope you feel better soon.
yiayia enjoy your holiday, I hope the sun continues to shine.

I’ve had a better day today, still a bit anxious in case the remaining smoke detectors decide to go off. But one of them was only replaced in September last year, and the other one in November! At least the hall, stairs and landing are clean, I just have to keep them that way. More cleaning tomorrow! I’ll have to stay in, the electrician will just turn up when he feels like it.
Have a peaceful evening everyone.
