As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.

Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.

A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.

Good evening Kitcheners. A fairly busy day with the boys before and after school/nursery. Then I tidied the kitchen and hoovered the house. It was a waste of time because the boys untidied it just as promptly. We watered the plants and constructed a tent out of heavy duty cardboard. Then dgs1 slipped on the deck's steps and hurt himself. Dd messaged me that dgs1 had an excellent parents evening report. He's way ahead in numeracy and literacy and is working at primary two level. He has a curiosity about learning and he's always asking for a challenge. This morning he was exploring negative numbers, although he didn't know that was what they were called. 😱.
I've just had a leftovers dinner of mini sausages, bacon, hash browns and beans.
I'm feeling a bit flat these days, no idea why. I'll probably have an early night and try to stir my stumps early tomorrow. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been a sunny day here in Inverness but with a bit of a cold wind
I’ve done a couple of classes at the gym followed by a walk by the river, a coffee out and then back home to do a bit of prep work for my volunteering session tomorrow. No sign of any housework being done today 😳 I’m just having a bit of a rest with a cuppa before putting the dinner on soon.
Pleased to hear your passport problem is sorted corner, hope it’s the same for fgt and they can jet off to Malaga tomorrow
Well done to all DGC with glowing reports, grannmarie, grandmabatty and others, lovely to hear they’re all doing so well
Hoping everyone in the quiet corner is feeling ok, sending gentle hugs to all x

Hello kitchen people.

I hope your passports have arrived FGT2 and you’re packing as we speak!

I popped over to my friend this morning so she could witness my signature and I ended up staying for over an hour. I had to rush back home for lunch as I was going out again. Strangely, a lot of door bells have been stolen from the houses opposite mine.

OH is out at his shooting club this evening so I can have a relaxing evening with the cats.

Have a good evening.

cornergran Tue 25-Mar-25 17:02:09

Goodness, it’s a quiet Kitchen today.

Sending love yia, of course do what’s right for you.

There is much relief in Cornerland today. After two weeks our old passports are confirmed as arriving at the passport office and new ones will be heading our way shortly. I hadn’t realised how much missing passports were worrying me until they weren’t

Hope you’ve had the delivery you’re waiting for fgt and you’ll be off to the sun tomorrow.

Lovely to hear the pride in grandchildren. Don’t they brighten our lives.

Take care everyone. We’ve a hectic couple of weeks coming up so please excuse me if I disappear back to the quiet corner. TOYA.

Happy birthday to your GGS, Hulahoop.

Grannmarie Mon 24-Mar-25 21:31:36

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.

Thank you for all the kind comments about the Wee Boy's report. We are very chuffed!

Grandmabatty, I'm sure your wee DGS1 will get a super report on Tuesday. I'm glad to hear that your Mum is settling in well to her new abode.

brook, I hope your DD's house move preparations are going well. She's lucky you are nearby to help!

UTBB, I hope you're feeling a bit better now. 🤞

FGT2, fingers crossed 🤞 for your passports arriving tomorrow.

Well done on your Millionaire answers, Grannygravy! I did OK on Mastermind this evening, not so good on UC, too much science for me... hope Jaxjacky's team do well this evening. 🤞I do enjoy a quiz.

Neine, you are a great support to your bereaved friend. Hope your wedding preparations are going well.

YiaYia, I'm thinking of you and your DH. Sending love and prayers.💕🙏🕯

Washing and ironing today, I'm enjoying getting the towels and bedding dried outside. I sat out in the sun for a wee while with my sudoko and crossword, it was nice and bright but still
a bit cold.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.

Hello kitchen people.

I am thinking of you all and especially Yiayia. I pray all goes well.

The usual Monday except our cleaner couldn’t come today. Our gardener was here though. She spent two hours weeding and tidying up.

I made a new chocolate cake recipe. I think it might be eaten at Easter.

OH is watching football while I read Bernie Taupin’s biography.

I was pleased to get my free Buyers’ Day tickets for the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy in June. I hope younger son can come with me.

Have a good rest of the evening - those passports had better arrive tomorrow, FGT2!

‘Evening All’.

Oh Yia I can totally understand the torment you are going through. I hope the scan result reassures you both.

Well, our passports didn’t arrive today! Himself received a text message though at lunchtime to say they’ll be with us tomorrow ‘before 3pm’. Once we have them we will book flights with Jet2 for Wednesday morning and go out to Málaga for one week. The good news is that the sun is (finally, after 3 weeks of heavy rain) shining and is forecast to last!

We are off in half an hour to our neighbour’s to join them for drinks. 🍷🍷. We stay a good hour and always have a laugh at some point. (Mrs) in particular is witty and a giggler! She’s 77y and has such a sunny disposition. It’s always a pleasure. I used to work with her at the hospital (small world, we lost touch when she retired and I was surprised and delighted when they moved into the development) as I first met her 48 years ago!

Naughtyneine Mon 24-Mar-25 17:17:11

Yia... Love and prayers for you both. We are here to support each other through what life throws at us so don't ever think you cannot share if you need to.....xx

soop Mon 24-Mar-25 15:22:29

All good wishes to dear YiaYia and her beloved. flowers

Naughtyneine You are a lovely lady.

Thank you for your supportive messages. I shall be celebrating my 84th birthday in August. I have undergone several major operations, many of which are abdominal. There is a lot of internal scar tissue for a surgeon to negotiate. I shall report back to you lovely lot once a decision has been made.

Yiayia4 Mon 24-Mar-25 09:24:16

Soop I’m so sorry to hear your news what a nightmare for you,I will be thinking of you on Friday.🌻

I will be having a break from GS for now.DH has to have a repeat liver scan and to be honest it’s all I can think about, plus you can all do without my woes.

Thinking of you all and sending.❤️

Naughtyneine Mon 24-Mar-25 09:05:07

Soop...if the surgeon says he can operate can you then gather all the information you can on post op recovery from all sources...ie the Stoma nurse....health visitor etc and then what help is available and for how long. I was wondering if there was a support group too... There must be others in your situation who could share their stories and advice and that might all help you decide what you feel is best. ♥️

Granmarie...proud moments for the wee boys parents and grandparents. He sounds a wonderful little boy.
GrandmaBatty... I'm sure your little Grandson will have an equally fine report tomorrow.

Jax...I hope the antibiotics work and quickly.. sinusitis is a horrible pain... They sound quite strong so I hope the are no unwanted side effects.

Fingers crossed that the missing passports are found and the FGTs ones land on the doorstep today.

GG13....I know that feeling....I got the 1% question right recently when none of the contestants could answer it. I amazed myself if I'm honest. Last Friday I took part in a follow up to an on line trial for older people who want to maintain cognitive ability...it was a face to face one wth a student at Exeter Uni. I needed all my cognitive skills just to find the place and then survive the following hour answering questions, remembering sequences of numbers forward and backwards....names and addresses...copying a complicated drawing ...and then worse after 3 minute break talking about inconsequential stuff she asked me to produce a copy of the drawing from memory. My head was spinning by the time I left. It took tea and a large fruit scone in John Lewis to recover.

My friend has come back down to stay... Thursday affected me more than I thought it would as although I didn't particularly like the man my friend loved him and seeing her so distraught and not being able to comfort my closest friend for over 50 years was very hard.

I had avoided talking to her about the wedding as it seemed crass but she wants to be involved and share the build up and I'm happy for her to be here... The saying 'walk a mile in my shoes before you judge me' applies I feel.
