As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.
Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.
A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.
I am sorry that so many Kitchen people are suffering at the moment.
Here is the Finnish Soup Recipe:
Finnish Salmon Soup

3 carrots, peeled and chopped
1/2 leek, chopped
500 g (1 pound 2 oz) potatoes
1200 ml (5 cups) fish broth or water

80 ml (1/3 cup) whipping cream
1 tbsp fresh dill or 1/2 tsp dried dill
1 tbsp fresh dill, to serve
Method
•Sauté the vegetables
Place a pot with butter over medium heat. Add the carrots and leek. Sauté for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
•cook the potatoes
Cut the potatoes into quarters and add them to the vegetables. Add in the fish broth or water. Season with salt, pepper, and dill. Bring to a boil, then cover with a lid and simmer for 15 - 18 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked and soft.
Tip

Salmon soup
Cut the salmon fillet into small pieces. Add the fish and the cream to the soup and stir to combine. Cook for another minute (uncovered), then remove from the heat, cover with a lid and set aside for 4 - 5 minutes for the salmon to cook. Divide the salmon soup between four plates and sprinkle it with fresh dill.
The sky is still blue here in my corner of Essex, it has been warm in the Sun but boy was the wind chilly.
The 10yr old is showered, homework completed and waiting patiently for his steak and chips (he has declined asparagus despite it being new season English)
Hope you feel better soon, and that your DH’s scalp continues to improve.
That soup sounds and looks delish llfl
I shall sign off for today 🙋♀️
kitty I’m so sorry to hear the sad news about your DH’s brother. Sympathies to you and your DH and family.
soop sorry you’re feeling unwell, I hope it’s nothing serious. I hope too that mrsoop’s poor scalp is healing slowly.
It’s been a beautiful day here too, blue sky and sunshine and mild. There’s a bit more cloud now, but still bright.
I had gas and electricity smart meters installed today, hope they work as they’re supposed to.
I then cleaned the kitchen windows as they were very dirty, I’ll have to wait until the sun is on them tomorrow morning to see how smeary they still are! I’m not good at cleaning windows, another job my late DH used to do!
Have a peaceful evening everyone.
So sorry Kitty thinking of you and DH.💐
Hope your mum get get some help and feel better soon Soop.🌻
Not good news on here today My D.H now has a UTI, he’s miserable and uncomfortable and no news of the operation yet.☹️But looking on the bright side it’s been a beautiful day and warm enough to sit outside.
Thinking of you all have a good evening.
So sorry to hear your news kitty. It has indeed been a sad few days for you and your family.
Kitty Please accept a comforting hug for your dear husband.
LLFL Would you be kind enough to share the recipe for your delicious soup? Thank you in anticipation.
I felt most unwell yesterday. My wee is very cloudy. I have a sore throat and my fibromyalgia is giving me serious jip. The nurse wishes to take bloods later this afternoon. She's also to change *Mr Soop's scalp dressings. I am taking a wee sample with me so that she may do the dip-stick thingy.
A glorious day here in bonnie Kintyre. The sea is glass-like. There is not a cloud in the sky.
My love to you all.
That's sad news kittylester, my condolences to you, your husband & family.
This kitchen is famous for it's comforting hugs, x
Thank you everyone. DH has gone for a long walk up a very big hill - you'll know which one Topsy. I'm hoping to have a doze. It's been a funny few days.
So sorry Kitty and condolences to your DH too.
Sorry to hear that Kitty, sincere condolences to you and your DH. 🕯💐
My condolences to you and your DH kitty 💐
How very sad kitty big hug from me 🥀
I'm very sorry to hear that Kitty. My condolences
Sad news indeed for your husband and extended family kitty. 💐
Thank you all for being so kind when I only emerge from the quiet corner when I need a hug.
Sadly, we heard this morning that DH's little brother died during the night. He was 76. The 'little' brother title was given because, although 3 years young, he was 4 inches taller. He and DH were close as they were born after the war. Their 2 older brothers were born pre the start of the war.
Well done for doing the ironing grannygravy good that there were no ill effects.
grandmabatty I need to clean the insides of the windows, all this sunny weather shows up how dirty they are. Unfortunately I haven’t got the knack of cleaning them without smearing them! They usually look worse when I’ve finished than when I started.
I’ve been at DD1s all day, keeping the dog company while DD1 and her DH were both in the office. The dog walker took her out for a long walk at lunchtime so she was happy.DD2’s OH collected all the children from nursery and after school club and left two of them with me! DD1& her DH were home at 6.30, unexpectedly early, so it was only just dark when I drove home. I haven’t driven in the dark since last October and with the clocks going forward at the end of the month I may not have to do it again until the autumn!
After two poor nights sleep, I hope to get a better night tonight, I don’t seem to be able to sleep past 5 o’clock for some reason.
I realised that if I want to plant some seeds, I’ll need some seed compost so will need to go to the garden centre one day this week. I’ve ordered some multi purpose compost from the milkman, it will be delivered on Thursday.
Enjoy the rest of the evening, night night.
I do get the iron out every now and again but it’s a very rare occurrence - well done to those who iron regularly though, especially GG13 standing for a couple of hours!
Looks really yummy llfl
I know I have an iron somewhere
It’s just that I’ve not used it for at least four years by my reckoning….
#lazygran
Ironing bedding GG13!, nope, not done that one I’m afraid, well done for standing so long.
Looks tasty llfl I’d have to use another fish, much as I’ve tried I don’t like salmon.
I’m really hoping you’ve had a much better day kitty and have sent yesterday far away.
Beautiful day today, but the wind had a very cool edge to it, potatoes planted, car washed and fuelled up, we’ve just eaten cottage pie, used up the leftover lamb from Sunday.
I need to plan out the rest of my small veg bed and where to hide the courgette plants later in the year!
That looks absolutely delicious, Ladyleftfieldlover. Good to hear that your OH is beginning to resume his routines.
Two hours' ironing, Grannygravy, you're regaining your strength, well done! I hope you have your feet up now.
I like the look of that LLFL!
GG13 good to hear you’re making progress. 😊
Hello kitchen people.
OH has gone to his shooting club - the first time since his urological problems started.
He wanted bangers and beans for dinner, so that’s what he cooked. I fancied the Finnish Salmon Soup which I discovered in Helsinki last year. I found a recipe and have made it several times ever since. So I made a batch tonight. It is delicious. Basically salmon, new potatoes, carrots, leeks, fish stock, cream and dill.
I saw some friends this afternoon who I hadn’t seen since I got back from Australia.
Have a good evening.
Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. It's been cold here, frosty this morning, but beautiful blue skies so I stripped the bed and hung the washing out. Sunshine is good for white washing!
Kitty, I was sorry to read about your difficult day, such a lot to deal with emotionally all at once. Hope you're feeling better now.
Well done on your quiz, Jaxjacky, you're 'on the podium ' now!
Good luck with your wedding preparations, Neine, an exciting time, please keep us updated.
Good to see you SueD, glad your DH is doing OK.
That sounds like the perfect move for your DD and DGC, brook. It must be wonderful to have a house that needs nothing done. Our house is like the Forth Road Bridge, every time one job is finished, another one needs doing!
Grandmabatty, I hope your Mum has a nice, comfortable room and you are allowed to make it homely for her. We brought some family photos from our Mum's 'Rogues' Gallery' and a CD player for her favourite songs. And her framed print of The Falls of Clyde.
Oh, that's just made me tear up...
Hoping and praying that her move goes well.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA.
Well I survived swimming lessons, The Imp was true to his name and the 10yr old gained another distance badge.
I managed to iron the bedding and accumulated clothes this morning, first time in six weeks standing up for a couple of hours, all seems ok.
