Good morning everyone from a brighter Northampton, the mornings seem to be getting lighter earlier, which is good.
Yesterday was so dull and miserable with continual heavy showers all day; our health walk went ahead despite the torrential rain, but two of us chickened out and decided to have a coffee in the sports centre cafe instead! Everyone on the walk came back soaked with wet jeans/trousers - fools!

A morning of pottering, early lunch then out to book club for our first meeting of the year; will be good to see everyone again. Looking forward to cake and chat!

Nothing else planned for today. A home-made hotpot from the freezer for dinner.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning Mick and all from greyish, brightish Carlisle. Not sure which will win out...
Today will be the same as yesterday, a housework, mostly, morning, reading and admin in the afternoon. I'd like an after-lunch walk but the plumber is due at some point to replace a radiator in my downstairs toilet. Apparently it's a short job that he's fitting between bigger ones and so a case of 'I'll see you when I see you', which is OK by me.

Have the best possible day everyone especially those of you with health and other problems.

Good morning all, its 3°C, and as Kalu has already said, we have clear skies.

I have very had a night of bizarre dreams, all about JamesMartin. Did know he does not have a toilet in his cottage, only a potty!. I think I may be going dolally.
DH says my night terrors have started again, its usually, caused by my meds. I have no memory of them, but DH certainly does!

Welcome back Ash and happy anniversary Roses. Are you doing anything to cekebrate?

Karna, you are a very talented lady!

Doctors this morning and then a day of foutering. I don't seem to be able to do much at all at the moment. It's so mood lowering and frustrating.
I'm on a mission to fill more bags for the charity shop. I'm trying to make things easier for my children, when I go! 😉

I have been worrying about DS1, who has been undergoing a raft of tests, but he phoned last to tell me that his latest ones have shown an improvement. He was not sharing any info at all, so as not to worry me, but realised that was making me even more worried!
He has been fast tracked and has and appointment with a specialist on Friday. The speed of that has also caused more concern.

I wish you all the best of days, and hugs for all the poorlies. Bella, I hope you and your wee grandson improve as the day goes on.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Just domestic things for me today plus a walk
Happy anniversary Roses
Love the wool Karma

Good morning and it’s bright and dry here in Essex. No wind either.

Nothing on today as my Wednesday coffee pal is still very poorly - out of hospital but isn’t up for visitors.

Choir tonight, so I’ll practice a couple of songs .

Have a good day, whatever you’re planning. 🌱

Good morning from a stilland reasonably bright N. Bucks.
At home with bits and onto do this morning .
This after we will collect the boys from school and pre-school. Give them dinner ( savoury crepes have been requested) and make sure the eldest is ready for football club when his Daddy comes to pick him up.
I have a WI committee meeting this evening , looks like a long agenda but it is a good group and we get through quite efficiently.
Best wishes for a pleasant day.

harrigran Wed 29-Jan-25 08:38:22

Good morning from the NE where it dry but dull.
My sister and BIL are going to visit this afternoon, I haven't seen them for seven weeks since she fell downstairs. She believes she can tolerate the car journey now.
My elder sister in Germany is getting out and about despite living on the second floor without a lift and still wearing a neck brace.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Morning from a cloudy S Hants, 4 with rain due later. Managed a walk yesterday in between showers, looking out for emerging signs of spring.
Blood test today for cholesterol check, WI this evening where I’m hoping someone will teach me to knit, I may be a lost cause!
Happy Anniversary Roses 🎂🥂

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Although still under the weather, hosting the music club went well but my singing voice is weaker after not singing for three months after my op’. I need to practise more…

A magpie got into my front porch yesterday and flew about madly. I went round the back and completely opened the already half opened door, but it took a while to realise it could easily get out, leaving a trail of poo behind it🙄

Lunch in the country with two sibling cousins today. One of them had pop hits in the 80s and now is very busy touring and successful as part of the 80s revival, I’m really pleased for him.

I’m impressed Karma, I like to paint and draw, but practical stuff defeats me.
Congratulations Roses and thoughts to all🌺

GrandmaC47 Wed 29-Jan-25 09:03:49

Happy Anniversary to the Roses. Good to see you back Ash.
Had my hair chopped and coloured yesterday. Not sure if it’s too short. I suppose I’ll get used to it.
Not a bad morning here in Co Durham.
Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Wed 29-Jan-25 09:12:10

Hollysteers why do I think Rick Astley when I read your post? I loved his music!
I'm not looking for an answer btw

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where its dry it chilly out. Alexa tells me it’s 4°C and will be cloudy and 8°C today.

I’m off over to our little family’s house through the park at lunchtime as a SKY engineer is scheduled. I’m assuming he’ll arrive knowing what’s up as I have no idea! Later I’ll be off to watch L’il Miss at her swimming lesson. I’ve noticed she’s the youngest in the group of ten but the tallest! Those long limbs she has certainly shot up these past few months.

Book club tonight and I’ve read the book. I cried at the end, not because of the character who died but because the author gave such heart rending descriptions of the grief involved. I think a lively discussion is guaranteed in the pub, then we choose a new novel and a date for mid March.

Good morning from bright and cool South Lanarkshire.

Happy anniversary Roses.

Marydoll sorry to hear that you’re still feeling so rotten. Best wishes for your DS, it’s difficult not to worry about our offspring.

Yesterday was fairly busy, I was the only volunteer for most of the afternoon but the time flew in. Yarn group last night was chatty and pleasant.

I’ll get on with my crochet this evening, got to keep the momentum going so our spring project will come to fruition.

I’m having my nails done later this morning then a quick visit to the supermarket is all that’s happening today.

Have the best day possible everyone, especially those feeling unwell.

Happy Anniversary Mr&MrsRoses 🥂

Good morning everyone 👋

GrannySomerset Wed 29-Jan-25 10:05:47

Currently frustrated by the fact that BT seem to have axed my answerphone service and it appears to be impossible to talk to anyone about it. Have decided I am no longer fit for modern life! Singing this afternoon will life the spirits, and the end of January is in sight, so there is hope.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 29-Jan-25 10:10:25

Nice to have you back Ash.
Happy anniversary the Roses!
A photo of your new car perhaps LLFL? Happy motoring.
(Sorry to hear the upsetting news about your brother in Oz).

Taichinan Wed 29-Jan-25 10:13:44

Good morning Mick and everyone. The big news today is that I actually slept last night. Please, please, please some more of that! 2-3 hours' sleep night after night just isn't enough
Today would have been my DH's birthday. Although he was killed way back in 1994 he has been in my thoughts every day. I wonder what he would have been like as an old man. He'd have had a shock of white hair for sure, just like his mother - it was going white at the sides even back then. Anyway, happy birthday to him. I'm glad he was in my life and we had time to bring our three lovely people into the world together.
Now, I'm off to use up some sleep-given energy. Have a good day everyone x

Good morning from cloudy but dry (so far) West Sussex.

I’ve been deep in marmalade making. I can’t do it with the speed and efficiency of GM but I have 4kg of Seville oranges prepped and in a pan with liquid and sugar. I will need to divide it as the pan is too full and it will have to wait for later as I am off to a coffee morning in the local RC Parish Hall and then going to the cinema to see Conclave with DH at 1.

I want to see the Bob Dylan film as well but DH isn’t interested so may go on my own later in the week or next week - will ask around and see if anyone else I know wants to go.

Taichinan 💐

Hope those who are unwell improve. Thoughts with those anxious about family members or friends.

Hope all have the best day possible.

Redcar Wed 29-Jan-25 11:32:51

Just reading everyone’s posts and realised mine has got lost in the ether! Now a lovely sunny morning in mid Essex, a bit chilly but pleasant nevertheless.
Yesterday I went to the local garden centre and got very wet. Also got very wet visiting my friend with dementia.
I’ve walked to the pharmacy to collect my meds, and met several friends on the way. What is normally about a 20 minute walk took 50 minutes and both hips ache!
Have the best day possible everyone, I hope those who are poorly will soon feel better.

LauraNorderr Wed 29-Jan-25 11:55:36

What a beautiful, thoughtful and moving post Taichinan flowers
