Hey grandMattie just seen this in today’s Telegraph:

“One thousand fake flamingos have been installed outside Bristol City Hall as part of Ramandu’s Table by Bruce Munro, which responds to our reliance on single-use plastic.”

(Trust they weren’t made of plastic! 😁)

Thanks FGT2. I’ll have a look when I go to DD’s church on Sunday.
Perhaps they are made of old water/milk bottles, if plastic?

January out at last! Happy February everyone.

A late Good morning from me in dull cold Cambridgeshire. I have been up and about with housework and just sat down to read the Good mornings with a coffee.

I am then out to meet DD2 for a walk to a local pub for lunch. We don’t often get time alone to chat but the little ones are with daddy this weekend. I will then come home and read my book a lovely cosy murder mystery to keep me entertained.

Whiff 💐 and a big hug to all those struggling. Have the best weekend possible everyone

Happy birthday Miss Oops 🎂🎁. Thank you for your kind thoughts .

Kalu you have all the firsts to face on your own and that's hard. Since my husband died I have talked out loud to him everyday and like you it gives me comfort. I always think how would he do things . Mind you he would cry if he saw what I use he's prized chisels for 😄.

To anyone on your own live your life to the full and find joy in the smallest or silliest things. I try and always find a positive from a negative. Even if it's just a pretty flower or funny cloud. 😊

Taichinan Sat 01-Feb-25 09:56:53

Good morning everybody. It's February!! No matter what the weather does from now on it will be short-lived. I had my morning coffee sitting outside in the sun the other day. I was "weel happit" (well wrapped up) and it was so lovely. The snowdrops are out in profusion and it won't be long before the daffodils take over. My favourite time in the garden will soon be here.
I had a lovely day yesterday when I went down to my old home town for my hair appointment. I met my niece for coffee afterwards and then she and her husband took me to look at all the alterations my great-niece and her husband have made to their house here (they're the ones who have made it a little bit big in LA). Goodness, what a palace! So many walls had been moved I was completely lost. And the interior design (done by a London company) was pretty breathtaking. Not my taste of course, but I'm sure they'd be glad to know that the taste of an 83-year-old great-aunt doesn't match theirs 😉😁. Great to see the things that can be done when money is no object.
Nanna8 I hope you stay safe from bush fires. The family I have mentioned in my post had to flee the fires in LA (their home was unharmed) but not a nice experience. So sorry to hear your DD wasn't so lucky.
Anyway, back down to the real world here and the kitchen needs a good going over this morning. Enjoy your weekend everybody x

Small pleasures. I like that too Stilllearning when Alexa uses my name the first time I use it each day! Makes me happy too!

Stilllearning Sat 01-Feb-25 09:47:41

Morning from South Lanarkshire, bright and 3 degrees according to Alexa who says charmingly ‘Good morning Patricia’ when I ask her for a weather forecast, it makes me smile every day which isn’t a bad thing.

Lunch today with an eccentric friend so I’m glad it’s not raining, The winter weather has tested my no driving decision!

I hope you tell us a little about your course Roses, another thing I’ve never heard of but would like to know.

Lovely picture again Mizuna, thank you.

As ever, prayers and good wishes to all needing support today.

Gingster

Where are you Nanna8 ?

I think Nanna8 is in Australia.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 01-Feb-25 09:42:52

gad a fair idea where we were, but was not allowed to speak, because I was distracting her. 🤣
I quite enjoyed my tour of the villages of Renfrewshire.

Gave me a good chuckle there MD! 😁

nanna8 Sat 01-Feb-25 09:13:40

It’s scary here just now - temperatures set to soar way up for the next few days and there is a danger of bushfires. We have a lot of trees, always makes us jumpy. One of my daughters lost everything to a 🔥, makes you that little bit more aware of the danger.

Gingster Sat 01-Feb-25 09:13:08

Good morning all and it’s very still out there.

Not much on today. Dh won’t be going to footie as the ground is sodden. It’s a shame, as I like to watch a film on a Saturday afternoon , when I have the house to myself. He’ll have sport on all afternoon. 🙄. I’ll read instead.

Take care all 🌱

harrigran Sat 01-Feb-25 09:12:49

Good morning from a cool and grey NE.
DS and GD come on a Saturday, will need to raid the freezer or go to the shops when they come.
GD has a music scholar's concert on Tuesday so she will be practising her piano pieces.
I wasted hours yesterday trying to sort out computer as I couldn't get online to do my banking, couldn't get any information from the bank but my sister heard about Barclays on X 😡
When I went to pick up the post there was a letter telling me they had deducted tax I owe from this month's pension, great, straight after the most expensive month of the year.
I did manage three loads of washing and got everything ironed before I sat down to watch Corrie only to find it wasn't on 🤨
Have a good weekend.

Jaxjacky Sat 01-Feb-25 09:11:32

Morning from a dull S Hants, 4, MrJ has a bowls match this afternoon, after that he’ll take our grandson to the pub to watch rugby, Irish Stew is being supplied, grandchildren are staying tonight.
I’ve got some TV to catch up on after I’ve been for a walk, Monty from last night is first.
Enjoy your weekend Roses
Happy Birthday to your daughters oops and Kalu

Ziplok Sat 01-Feb-25 09:10:06

Good morning,

A rather grey, dull looking start to the new month here, but for now it remains fine.

Your course sounds interesting roses. I hope you enjoy it.

Wishing you all a good day.

monk08 Sat 01-Feb-25 09:06:11

Good morning all from an overcast Black country.
DS due back today from his conference in Turkey told him to pack a bit of sun.
Usual full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Best wishes to anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your day whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Grammaretto Sat 01-Feb-25 08:59:39

Pinch and a 👊
For the first of the month.
I woke early and read some posts but my day ahead doesn't sound much fun. I have invited 2 friends over to help reorganise the living rooms after the plastering and painting. It is frustrating not being able to lift or bend yet.

Yesterday I had a very nice time in Edinburgh with my old friend. Stockbridge for coffee and a look round the charity shops. Glorious sunshine.

Your Spanish class sounds very advanced gMattie . I find politics hard enough to discuss in English.

Sorry for those who are sad today flowersWhiff

Enjoy your days out . Thanks for the photo Mizuna

GrannySomerset Sat 01-Feb-25 08:54:28

No rush to get up as I have nothing planned today, though I need to do some shopping at some point or there will be nothing left to eat - which wouldn’t hurt me. DS and. DDiL are in Dublin for the match so will watch it later from the comfort of my own sitting room. Wish I felt more positive, but at least January is over so life is going in the right direction.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 01-Feb-25 08:51:17

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it looks chilly out. No matter, we have no plans until 5pm when we go over to babysit. It’s always an early out and early back which suits us. 😁

hollysteers Sat 01-Feb-25 08:50:51

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
It seems my bug has actually b****red off! Hallelujah 🙏🏻
My Dsister from the south arrives this afternoon so that’s good timing.

White rabbits, fab photo Mizuna, thoughts to Whiff and all🌺

BlueSapphire Sat 01-Feb-25 08:42:38

Good morning everyone and happy White Rabbits Day from a grey and overcast Northampton, no rain forecast thankfully.

Three good dance classes yesterday,.and then popped over the road with my fellow dancer friend to have coffee at the independent bakery - they do a roaring trade, people in all the time for their fresh baked goods.
Home to an afternoon of tidying up and reading.

Bus trip to the shops this morning for a few things plus a coffee in M & S.
Will watch the England rugby match this afternoon.

Wishing all a pleasant Saturday.

Kalu Sat 01-Feb-25 08:37:23

Good morning all. It feels so cold again this morning in Glasgow. We have a light frost and a few pink clouds so far.

It’s DD2’s 48th birthday today. Forgetting about the time difference in Australia, I wished her happy birthday yesterday🤦🏼‍♀️. I rectified it last night when I joined the family FaceTime chat, she laughed it off telling me it was perfectly understandable as I am adjusting to what is my new normal.

Whiff 💐. Living life for both of us sums up how I feel since DH died 5mths ago. Keeping him still part of my life, I share my days events when I ‘talk’ to him gives me comfort.

Hoping Dollie and yourself are more settled and doing better MD Look after yourself.

So many of us having rubbish sleep patterns, I have given up hope of ever returning to normal, I just go with the flow….not losing sleep over it. 🙂

Best wishes to all for a good weekend.
