Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dull, cold South Yorkshire. It may rain later.. We were forecast sun today. I wouldn’t pay weathermen in washers! My morning got off to a good start when I made my first coffee of the day and then managed to tip it all over the the worktop and onto the floor somewhere between the kettle and the tray. I’m getting very ham fisted these days. Not sure what is on the cards today. Certainly a proper clean up operation, but after that I may chuck a bucket of soapy water over my car, which is filthy. I’m too mean to take it to a car wash😁.
Have the best day you can, folks

Good morning from Durham. It looks dry and not as cold today.
Lunch out with DD1 and DGS1 was lovely yesterday, although I’ve forgotten how expensive these things are. Picky-eater had 3 courses and hot chocolate!
I’m carless today, so my friend is picking me up for our usual Monday Costa coffee. I hope the car is ready later, I’m lost without it.
I adore my DGSs, and would have them anytime to help out, but was very pleased nursery hours were managed without me! I hope your childminding is appreciated Bellasnanna

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning.
We are up and almost ready, just a few last minute bits to go in the cases. We are being picked up just after lunch for the airport run.
Not sure what the internet will be like in the various places but will hope to keep in touch.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Good morning from a dry NE, it feels a reasonable temperature but I am still in bed.
Had a quiet day yesterday the highlight being a phone call from DD, first time I talked to her since New Year.
Today is odd job day, need to clean the kitchen. I won't be using the ladders to access the high shelves, my ribs are still sore from the other day.
That is a great deal of childcare Bellasnana for one person.
Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning Mick and all Gn's on a cold but bright looking dry morning here in North Yorkshire. Very still and the sun beginning to shine behind the tree, because of course it is much later than my usual time to be on here. i was awake at stupid o clock again and am in a very creaky painful condition this morning, but expected it after yesterday.

Well perhaps a little of the brightness comes from my halo, which is bright from all my slaving yesterday!! Physically not very good yesterday, and a cold and miserable day. I knew that I couldnt walk quickly enough to keep warm on a very chilly day, but at least my brain seems to have got back into gear a bit after all the shock about the cataracts etc, and so I metaphorically rolled up my sleeves and tackled in a better manner this living room. I slowly ploughed on through endless stuff and by the end of the day I had managed to get three bags of recycling stuff put out, some other bags set up, with one for the charity shop, one for the recycling material stuff where the garment isnt fit to be worn, but the materials are sorted and recycled in some way, put two nice cushion covers to wash and put aside as the actual cushions they were on were quite small and very old and now lumpy. I suddenly thought why am I putting up with them and have slung them out. Another good job done. Have even been through a pile of towels. Have lots of them from over the years. G

ginny have a lovely time. Safe journey

Good morning from a dull and cloudy Black Country.

Woke later than usual today, so feel I am behind! Just chopped veg and simmer the chicken for soup. Then walking group walk this morning.

Yesterday a large chunk of the day was spent giving the Kitchen a thorough clean. Emptying cupboards and cleaning and re-organising. Cleaning down the tiles and the cupboards doors, etc.

Between a long phone call with my cousin who is back in Hospital, but hoping to be home today.

As everyone says Bellasnana that is a huge amount of childcare. Not something I ever did, as by the time I retired mine were all almost, or were teenagers.

We have a start time of 9.30am on buses. If we need to travel before then it is £1.50 upon showing the senior pass.

Line Dancing this afternoon, so it is a full on day today.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

baubles Mon 03-Feb-25 08:40:09

Good morning, the skies are grey here in South Lanarkshire but the days are a little longer. Springtime is coming.

I seem to have lost track of a small annual annuity so that will mean a phone call today to try to discover where it has gone.

DH is going over to DD’s house to help with some DIY so I’ll have most of the day to myself. Will try to get out for a decent walk.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Good morning from County Durham.

The weekend was so busy. We had three GC staying over until Sunday. My DD and SIL were away for a birthday trip. The children were incredibly good but I'm afraid I was utterly exhausted afterwards. I never sleep particularly well when they sleep over, constantly listening out for them, plus they are early risers.

The whole family met up in a pub for lunch later on Sunday afternoon which was a surprise for DD. It was amazing how a couple of hours rest and a quick shower rejuvenated me enough to enjoy our gathering. I love seeing the whole family together, they are such a mixed bunch but all get along so amazingly well.

School pick up later, plus I should be able to join in with my exercise class in-between at long last. Fingers crossed GD1 manages better on her crutches this week requiring a little less help from us for the school run. We shall wait and see. Ahh, just had message, we're picking her up! GD2 will be pleased.

Wishing all a peaceful day.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 7°C.

What a pity about the jelly, GM. I have never tasted quince.

Even when I was much fitter, I could never managed five days of childminding, Bella. I know you adore your boys and love having them, but you need to look after your own wellbeing too. Your daughter is very fortunate that she has such a loving and supportive mum.

Yesterday, everything that could have gone wrong at church, went wrong. I ended up in tears, when a parishioner had a go at me for something, which was not my fault. It really upset me because, I had supported her when she was in an abusive marriage. Usually, I just smile, but I'm quite fragile at the moment.
She was horrified at how upset I was, saying she thought I was such a strong woman, when I actually am not. She did apologise, but my day was ruined.

Mizuna, such a pity that the man was so unwelcoming. It does not excuse his attitude, however, we will never know, what happened prior to him snapping at you. If someone has spoken to me yesterday after what happened, I would probably have been sharp too.
What our parishioners forget, is that we are all volunteers, glad to give up our time, but we are not employees.
The young sacristan was also subjected to unpleasantness yesterday. However, these people may be quick to complain, but rarely volunteer to support us.

Today, I'm off to Mass and deal with the issues raised by the parishioner. She was correct to complain, but if her group had alerted us sooner, we could have pre-empted most of the problems.
I have to go and get spare keys made for parish hall. Like watch batteries, I am horrified at the cost. On that note, I changed the batteries on two of DH's Swatch watches yesterday it probably cost about 50p each.😂

I haven't had time to read the posts, just skimmed, because I need to get a move on. I will enjoy reading them later.
Susan, I know what you mean about being overwhelmed. I hope your appointment goes well today.
Happy Monday, everyone.

Taichinan Mon 03-Feb-25 08:45:01

Good morning Mick and all his busy followers. It's a grey day on the Angus coast, but the sun will shine tomorrow again and there's a little bit of snow forecast for next Saturday and the following Monday.
Glad you're all enjoying your busyness. Bella that is a lot of childminding, but I know you'll love being with your two little people. Grammaretto I had to Google Taize as I had never heard of it. Sounds lovely and meditative.
Nothing much planned for me today, although I must pop out and get a couple of gift vouchers for a couple of friends whose birthdays a group of us are celebrating together on Friday.
Enjoy your day everyone x

Good morning from a dull but dry Oxfordshire, it was very frosty last night but it obviously clouded over.

I spent yesterday doing housework and clearing up various rooms after MzOops left for home. It’s lovely when she is here but she uses every room and leaves stuff laying around.

If it warms up a bit I need to get into the garage as all of her packing materials have been put in there. I’ll sort them out and discard some. I need to get rid of her stuff into another shed so that I can sort out my crates that are in the racking. Then I have some admin to do.

MrOops has a shocking cold and cough so I’ve put him back to bed out of the way so that I don’t catch it, he didn’t complain, probably pleased to be able to spend time in bed, he’s had a busy weekend and probably got chilled. He will insist on having a hot shower first thing then going out, ‘I won’t need a coat or hat he says’ of course he does, silly chap. Will he listen? Nope.

We had a very nice Chinese takeaway with MzOops last evening, she says she has had a good Birthday weekend. Nephew has at last gone back to his own flat, although he is borrowing her car, so she is using mine, she finds it difficult to open as her hands are so bad, but she manages, hopefully she won’t have to travel out much until she gets her car back.

Have a good day everyone, let’s hope some of us get some sunshine, it always makes my day seem a bit better.

Jaxjacky Mon 03-Feb-25 08:54:50

Have a great holiday ginny with a safe journey.

GrannySomerset Mon 03-Feb-25 08:59:39

A grey, still morning and I absolutely have to go to the supermarket as I kept putting it off last week and now have a nearly empty fridge. Gardener this afternoon to continue clearing a long and overgrown border, and flower club demo tonight, so what passes for a busy day these days. Hope those travelling have trouble-free journeys, those dealing with problems have success and that the rest of us have a good enough day.

madeleine45 Mon 03-Feb-25 09:07:11

I dont know what is happening with this laptop, it posted the first bit and then I wrote some more which seems to have disappeared so hope it accepts this bit. Definitely now need our techy expert at Upfront to look at it and see if it is something that can be mended or the time has come to ditch it for a new one. BAH Humbug!! Dont want the expense and hassle of changing, hate it that they make them inbred obsolescence or tell you that 8 years old is not possible to mend rejig or whatever, and worst of all will have to learn a new machines ways and means . AH well hope you all have a successful day and make the most of a bit of dry weather. I shall get myself ready and get off to donate all my bits and pieces to places and then do a minimal shop, try to find out more about where I can catch a bus, where I could safely leave the buggy all day so that could use it when I get back from the bus trip and then start to plan some trips to the great limpopo and darkest africa - or maybe to Ripon and Thirsk to begin with!! Must find my machete to slash my way through the yorkshire jungle!! Have a good day everyone

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Yesterday's sunshine was very welcome the towels dried a treat and I was able to spend time giving the garden a tidy.
Today I may sort the wardrobe in spare bedroom there are clothes in there that have not been worn years, although they still fit in all reality I know I won't wear them again.
ginny have a lovely holiday and safe journey.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 03-Feb-25 09:30:16

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s Sunny, dry but looks chilly out. Our bedroom window is open during the night but we are snug as bugs under our heavy winter duvet! I think that why we’ve slept (again) for over ten hours. It’s certainly not down to exertion …
#lazygran

We have no plans (nice). I’m enjoying my 2nd mug of TIB while Himself is eating his breakfast in the other room. Hope Monday is kind to us all. I shall now read the 41 posts above mine!

Good morning all and I’m up late. We’re in Suffolk by the sea which is very sleep inducing.

We travelled up yesterday and arrived to have bacon sandwiches and coffee in the sunshine in the garden, by 10.30.

A very heavy frost this morning and Misty out at sea - quite magical.

Our neighbour had put our heating on for us , so a nice toasty house greeted us. We spent an hour in the garden , just tidying ,walked the dog along the beach then came in and dozed/read the afternoon away.

Not sure what today will bring .

I too googled Taize, Gramaretto and Taichi. It looks and sounds so lovely. Peace is what we all need.

Bellasnanna pace yourself. I’m sure you will get into a routine with the boys and be sensible with ‘your’ time.

Take care all and keep warm. 🌱

Good morning from a wet and howling Hebrides. Planes and ferry cancelled so no newspapers.

On the bright side, I'm getting on with making marmalade with lovely Seville oranges I bought on Saturday,

make the best of your day, everyone.

TheWeirdoAgain59 Mon 03-Feb-25 09:47:03

Good morning, Michael12 and all of you!

I was sat at my kitchen table around 3am with my laptop set up watching a 2013 film, Deadly Revisions, staring Bill Oberst Jr. It was a brilliant horror movie! Demonic dolls! Axes!

I had a mug of tea and scoffing a microwavable Co-Op chicken korma, wrapped in a fleecy hooded blanket and hugging a hot water bottle and a long down to my knees jumper, and leggings to keep my legs warm!

I had all the lights off in my flat so it was just me and the film in darkness and it was groovy!

Rainbow1235 Mon 03-Feb-25 10:11:06

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside 7° northwest coast.
Dsister leaves for the south later today and we will stroll about town and have lunch on me before she leaves. I hope the trains are on time, unlike her journey here…

Yesterday we had a quiet day, again lunch and shopping in town so I didn’t cook in the evening and we had the gammon I had cooked in sandwiches and soup.
She likes Call the Midwife so watched it and found saccharine unbearable and told her so😁 More fun trying to answer questions on University Challenge.

Thoughts to all🌺

Good morning from cloudy West Sussex. I started reading the thread before 8. Then I dozed off again 🫤.

I made another batch of marmalade yesterday - I had to divide it as there was too much to boil up even in my big pan. The first half is fine but the second ‘half’ was a smaller quantity and I left it to boil, not allowing for the lower volume. The result was a pan of treacle. I did this a couple of years ago with gooseberry jam. Will I never learn?

Today I have tai chi - a small informal class led by a friend for people who are intimidated by the real thing! We do a set of exercises from the Versus Arthritis website first. It keeps me moving 🙂

My snowdrops and aconites that I planted in the autumn show no signs of coming up. Why can’t I get snowdrops to grow? I have planted them in the green as well as from bulbs but they just disappear.

Hope it is a good day for the busy and the lazy and everything in between.

Same here Litterpicker, in two gardens. I’ve given up now.
