I wish more people would hide threads rather than go on them and complain about their existence.

I hide the games threads because they get in the way. If there’s anything else I don’t fancy I just scroll on by.

Quite!!

I hide threads so that I don't need to scroll on by. Games threads can fill a whole page at times.

Why not ignore threads that are not to your liking?

As far as I know it is not compulsory to engage with every thread on every topic.

Indeed but the cat is out of the bag. You have read it, you are witness to the growing momentum of something extremely worrying and disturbing. The damage is done.

What??? Have I missed something?

Crowing about what?
I think you'd need to hide every thread about holidays, fashion, home decor, cake baking, pets, grandchildren etc if you didn't want to read about people finding happiness and pride in something.
If you think it's boasting, bragging or being smug then you're taking it the wrong way.

I think part of the problem (for me anyway) was that even if a thread has been hidden - perhaps because it offends - then it may still appear in the Trending box on the right of the screen.

Is that really such a problem. Can’t you avert your eyes?

Thanks Parsley - that’s really helpful👍

For people who use Adbock, it’s also possible to block the Trending element. Go to the red Adblock icon on the toolbar (or call up the app whichever way you prefer), select Block Element then click on the Trending box. The box contents should disappear and remain hidden.

That does of course mean that users will miss other Trending topics what might interest them but they can always use the Active|LastHouse|LastDay options where the titles of hidden threads won’t be displayed.

Thank you SilverBrook I had no idea it was possible to hide threads on this site.

I never use the mobile site as I am an iPad user.

what little arrow? I can't see one

You have to be on the mobile version of the site. If you are using the desktop version scroll down to the bottom of the screen and switch to mobile site. Remember to switch back to desktop site if that's what you prefer.

Click on the little arrow top right of the thread then choose hide this thread from the drop down box.

What do you mean, 'crowing'?
If you don't like a thread surely you can just ignore it?

I can't be around the crowing for a minute longer but there are some nice chats here and it is a help with loneliness and isolation sometimes.

Thanks.
