Good Morning from Durham. Another miserable grey, wet day here. It’s monotonous!
I was supposed to take my poorly friend to a hospital appointment at 9am, but she text yesterday that she has cancelled it. Nerves got the better of her, but her GP thinks it’s ok to postpone it for a month or two. I’m not sure. Anyway, she’s happier and it’s given me a free day, so I’m going to head into Newcastle for a wander.
It’s SinLaws 46th birthday today, so he and DD1 are having the day off and my old school friend in Melton Mowbray will be celebrating too - she’ll be 74.
I had disturbing news last year Kalu. It’s taken me a while to accept that I cannot change things and must just go with the flow, so to speak. I often wonder what DH would have made of it.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a cold, damp hillside in south Glos, no sun forecast until at least the weekend ☹️
Two soggy walks yesterday with the dog, I was well wrapped up but the rain was icy - despite that I enjoyed being outside.
I have a pile of ironing to do today, I really don’t mind doing it as I listen to the radio or podcasts.
Tomorrow I have the dentist and hygienist 😵‍💫, I’m not looking forward to it!
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Good morning everyone from Inverness, it’s slightly warmer at 2° but very grey and cloudy
A lovely picture Bellas
It’s still too cold and frosty to get much gardening work done so yesterday I signed up at a local gym, I’ve been putting it off for far too long but need to get back into an exercise routine. There’s loads of different classes to choose from so I’ll try a few out and see what I enjoy best.
Well done yesterday Kalu on going out for lunch, pleased it helped you feel a bit better
Happy 18th Birthday to your DGS greyduster, a day of mixed emotions
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a cold, damp Essex coast. It's the same weather day after day at the moment.
Admin to tackle this morning and a committee meeting this evening.
DGD2 is very poorly at the moment and missing a lot of school. She is now under the care of Birmingham children's hospital for her severe asthma. They have prescribed new medication, if that doesn't work they are talking about Biologics. She has also recently been diagnosed with ASD , poor love.
I hope GG13 had a better night and is more comfortable.
Best wishes to everyone, may the sun shine soon xx

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cold and grey again. Another cold grey day forecast. I’m at DD1s today, looking after the dog while DD1 and her DH are both in the office all day. DD2 will collect the granddaughters from after school club and look after them until their parents come home.
I was busy yesterday, but did too much and my back is protesting this morning.
bonnybanko have a lovely warm holiday!
oops I hope your day works out as well as you hope
susan have a peaceful day today.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good Morning Mick and all GN'S on a very dark cold morning here in north yorkshire.

I know mentally, that the days are lightening but at the moment I think you could have fooled me!! We are so longing for some daylight at this time of year,, I feel it is like a child at christmas as I am so longing to look out at the garden and be able to go outside Oh well I shall have to just be patient I suppose. Cant even have the joy of seeing a snowdrop garden yet. There is one not far away but nowhere near a bus route and too far to go on the yellow peril, Well I shall have some idea soon of how things go as I go on thursday to see the surgeons. Very mixed feelings. Hoping they say it is just ordinary and they can do something soon about it, but scared they will say cant do anything or even that they can but not for months and months.

At least I am mobile today. Yesterday had to wait for the man to come and take it off to get the puncture mended and had an appointment at dr's. Anyway great, the man came as requested early and the buggy was back in time for me to dash off to see the physio. Felt more comfortable to ride thankgoodness, and the physio was very nice but sadly, no new ideas or any help with the pain. Tells me I am doing everything that I can. Oh well worth a try I suppose.

Well today I am writing this and then checking anything important come in before I shut this down and take this off to the Laptop doctors!! I have been having all sorts of intermittent problems with this thing, and so taking it to a techy genius to look at it. I , of course, think that this is not old but it must be more than 8 years old, which to the throw away crowd , is ancient. But as someone , keen on make do and mend and if it aint broke dont muck about with it, not to mention yet again the cringing cost of a new one, am hoping Artie can work a miracle and restore it to working health. Well , that would be the best, but if I have to get a new one, then will be looking round to find something in the sale but so long as I end up with a working model that doesnt make me want to throw it through the window , it will be an improvement. So thats the main thing this morning, and then I need to go to the bank and hope finally to sort out the hassle with the new bank card and the new phone number saga, and then test it by going to Caffe Nero and hopefully paying for it with my phone with no further problems. Well we shall see. I shall be a winner with the coffee anyway, it will be a celebration if all goes well and a commiseration if it still goes wrong.!!

Bellasnana and Greyduster, We miss them every day but it is always a hard time when some milestone comes up and you think of how they would have enjoyed a special occasion. My lovely husband joined a car mirror onto a long metal pole so that I could use it to be able to see hellebores, which hang down, when I couldnt bend my back to look at them. I still have it and it is so useful to look under things, but now the snowdrops are out and it is hellebore time coming up, it always makes me think of him and how thoughtful he was. They are still in our thoughts and we can know how they would have enjoyed all the special moments,

Good morning everyone from another grey damp Northampton day, and more of the same to come.

Spent a good couple of hours yesterday searching for my bus pass, which appears to be lost. Turned the house upside down but no sign of it; I remember using it on the bus to come home after rugby on Saturday, and presume that's where I lost it. It's most annoying. Rang the council to report it lost; they cancelled it, and are sending out a new one.

A visit to the dressmaker this morning to pick up my posh frock which she has shortened, then early lunch before our group walk this afternoon.

Hope it's a good day for all.

Morning Mick, morning All from a cold, dry corner of Somerset. A grey day is forecast.

A routine day ahead. Grocery delivery, dust removal, some ironing and then back to the photos. More difficult news about our friend and our goddaughter yesterday, my worry pot is full and I’m beginning to dread phone calls.

Rant away oops, completely understand. greyduster and bellasnana. flowers.

Have the best day you can everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 11-Feb-25 07:28:18

Morning all from a grey S E Essex.

Our gorgeous 9yr old is 10 today 🎂🥳 where have the years gone 🤷‍♀️

He had his party at the local indoor skate park yesterday, DD FaceTimed me so I can see the daredevil’s on the ramps, including The Imp, oh dear!

Tonight he has chosen our favourite Indian Restaurant for his birthday meal, I am determined to get there, so I will be resting all day in anticipation.

Kalu Bellasnana and Greyduster so sorry, you are part of a club that none of us want to join, sending you (((hugs)))

Take care folks 🙋‍♀️

Good morning Mick and everyone from dry but dampish Carlisle. I think we're due the usual cloud with occasional glints of sun today.
Yesterday was a laundry day and a lot of tidying up plus a lot of very tedious admin. Life was simpler when we were cave people!

Today I must pop into town early on an errand then get back in time for a Tesco delivery. Then I might feel like running the vacuum around...or not. For the afternoon, my new book, just a page-turner. My brain needs a rest after the last weighty tome.

Have the best possible day everyone.

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 11-Feb-25 07:14:47

Good morning from a dry Oxfordshire.

I was all set to have a couple of days staying with MissOops, but after a late phone call from MzOops last night we now have to go to the bank, hopefully as soon as they open, then I can go on to see MissOops, but I suspect I won’t be able to go there until lunchtime, which will throw out all of our plans for today.
Why don’t they call us as soon as they know we need to do something, rather than wait until the banks are all closed and we can’t do anything? She always leaves everything to the last minute and then it’s urgent and we have to drop everything and start running around. There is a plan B but that involves being here until late afternoon and making numerous phone calls. Anyway Rant over.
Lovely photo Bellasnana
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.

We had quite an emotional last session of our latest Carer Learning course so, consequently, I had a bad night and I feel washed out.

I have a singing lesson first thing and then I'm off to collect my new specs. Hope I like them.

DH has a volunteer drive.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Susan56 Tue 11-Feb-25 07:12:10

Good morning from Shropshire where a dull day is forecast.

Greyduster and Bellasnana💐

I got quite a lot done yesterday.Had seven phone calls to make re mum yesterday. Two were sorted quickly and efficiently, still awaiting two call backs and three couldn’t get through at all😤
More of the same today🙄

On a positive note we both had a good nights sleep for a change.DH has the dentist this morning and I will hopefully finish off the admin for the time being and have a relaxing day reading.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Kalu Tue 11-Feb-25 07:11:29

Good morning all. It’s a chilly 3deg with the possibility of rain and windy again in Glasgow.

My grateful thanks for such kind thoughts yesterday. They were very much appreciated.

Everything seemed to get on top of me at the weekend which highlighted the fact that DH wasn’t here to turn to as I could 5ths ago. I very carefully read through legal documents, signed and posted off.
Decision making on my own can be a touch overwhelming, it’s done now and I feel somewhat more lighthearted.

Not in the mood for company yesterday I drove into Glasgow and had lunch at a favourite restaurant. Making myself go out was a good decision to help lift my mood.

A sad occasion for you Grey. Who knows is a good question but I feel a very strong presence of DH around and it is comforting. Wishing your GS a happy 18th birthday.
A touching photo of ‘your boys’ Bella

Best wishes to all for a good day and a much needed better day for those with worries and struggles.

Grandmabatty Tue 11-Feb-25 06:44:24

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and damp. A poignant photo Bellasnana and a bitter sweet day for you Greyduster.
Yesterday I worked for three hours in the library and enjoyed myself. The staff are lovely. The boys played nicely once back home which isn't a given! Dgs2 wanted to play shops and he was the mum. I was told to sit while he paid for the food. He's very bossy - I wonder who he takes after?😂I went to bed fairly early but my sleep was interrupted.
Today I'll drop off the boys, then might make the mince in the slow cooker that I didn't make the other day. I'm meeting two art friends locally for lunch and will have a pleasant couple of hours before I pick up the boys again. Have a good day all.

Bonnybanko Tue 11-Feb-25 06:26:15

Good morning all from the east coast of Fife. That’s the heating kicked in again. It’s blooming cold, however I’ll be jetting off soon to a warmer climate my case is all packed and ready to go lucky thing that I am.

Keep safe my friends love to you all. 💐💐

Greyduster Tue 11-Feb-25 06:22:46

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is yet another wet, dreary day. We haven’t seen the sun since last Thursday and won’t see it this week if forecast is anything to go by.
Today is GS’s eighteenth birthday, and I’m very sad that DH is not here to celebrate with us. They were inseparable and he would be so proud to see the fine young man he has become. Perhaps he does see; who knows. We are going out tonight for a family dinner and then he will do something with his friends at the weekend.
A volunteer session for me this afternoon and I shall have to drive, when I could do with the walk.
Have the best day you can folks.

karmalady Tue 11-Feb-25 06:08:37

Good morning from s somerset, cold, dry and dull today

My car is heavily loaded and I want to get all of it transferred to my plot today. Lots of walking and lifting will be involved. Then I had texts wrt two deliveries, coming today with an all-day time window, a nuisance, I have to hope they are more specific later

I think I am still in summer-time mode, I wake at the same relative time every day and am ready for bed at 9, at least I can please myself and go with the flow

Have a good day

Bellasnana Tue 11-Feb-25 06:03:19

Good morning from Malta where to going to be a wet day by the look of it. High of 16°C.

Got all my bedroom drawers cleared and sorted yesterday so there is a big bin bag waiting to be chucked out today.

In the middle of my sorting, a friend phoned and we nattered for over an hour, then another friend messaged to ask if I fancied a coffee so I dropped everything and hot footed it to the village where we had a lovely hour or so before I returned to my chores.

Today I’m off to look after my two treasures. DD3 sent a lovely photo of them yesterday arranging flowers on DH’s grave. He would have been so delighted with these little boys, I’m sad he didn’t get to meet them.

Wishing all a good day and thoughts to those who are struggling.☀️

grandMattie Tue 11-Feb-25 06:01:12

Good morning from yet another dreary day in Bristol. The weather has turned chilly again 🥶 without necessarily being icy.
Shopping yesterday was as wearing as I thought it would be; I’m expected to entertain my lovely neighbour’s friend, (whom I don’t like). I didn’t spend too much.
In the afternoon I went to the hygienist. My bank account protested. There are about three NHS dentists in Bristol, which are hugely oversubscribed with very, very long waiting lists. I had a good scrape and polish, my gnashers are now gleaming.
This morning will be spent doing all sorts like Spanish homework and administrative jobs.
In the afternoon I have a meeting on the Later Life hub, which includes AgeUK. It’s well chaired so shouldn’t take too long.
DD is in London at the General Synod; I hope she uses the time and votes wisely.
May all your troubles be little ones. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
