Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry and cold start here in brackley , mind you I wish we could get more milder weather which you associate with spring.
Doing my usual bus journey to Bicester , do a bit of a shop and hopefully see people I know .
Health wise OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from 2degree Kent.
My sympathy over the eye gM I now have a bloodshot second eye but luckily seeing the Consultant tomorrow and carrying on with the many drops.
Today is art group this morning, I find it heavy going nowadays we seem to just copy other people’s paintings so I think I might try and branch out a bit in between the chatting.
Good luck Madeleine
Best wishes

Good morning from Shropshire.A slightly less dull day forecast.

Feeling overwhelmed with the amount of admin I have to sort out for mum I cancelled all plans for the week and have spent time at home.Nothing is straightforward and each phone call leads to more calls.I think I have done as much as I can for now🙏🏻

Today will be a quiet day at home.I will make some maids of honour for DH as a nod to Valentines Day then hopefully the rest of the day reading.

I hope all the eye appointments go well🙏🏻

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Good morning all from dark grey N Bucks after my brief ballet trip to Birmingham.
I had an easy drive down, picking Rosie up from her kennels near Salcey Forest then a quiet afternoon in trying to watch a harrowing film “Precious” for Film Studs. If you’ve seen it you’ll know why I found it hard going. At least at home you can pause it and get some respite with a brew, glad I wasn’t watching it in a cinema!
Arts Society this morning then Art History this afternoon “Forgotten British Artists” - more fun than it perhaps sounds!

Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Morning all from a chilly West Oxfordshire.

I enjoyed my shopping trip and lunch in Oxford yesterday. We used to go much more often but the everlasting shenanigans with the road is very wearing.

It is the annual U3A lunch today. I will be going on my own as OH finds it uncomfortable to sit for long. Afterwards I’ll sort out the spare room for our daughter who is coming to stay tomorrow night. She is flying back from Oman today where she has been on holiday. We haven’t seen her since Christmas.

I also need to drop off some paperwork with one of the ladies on the WI committee. I won’t be here for the next meeting or committee meeting.

Have a good day everyone, especially those of you with annoying niggles.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cold and cloudy again. Yesterday stayed dry until late afternoon when we had a light shower. Some sunshine would be so pleasant!
I had a quiet day again yesterday, with just a very short walk. Not a good night’s sleep as I wasn’t especially tired.
A food delivery this morning, then having my hair done this afternoon. It’s DD1’s birthday today, she’s 49! Where have those years gone?
I hope that you get on OK at A&E gm, and hope your visit to the eye clinic isn’t too lengthy kl
Have the best day possible everyone and keep warm.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 2°C.

I hope you get your eye seen to quickly GM and it is nothing serious.

On Monday, when I was at the opticians, I set off every alarm in every shop I entered and exited, culminating in a search in Boots.
Yesterday, it was lunchtime, when I felt well enough to go and pick up my prescriptions and the same thing happened again, when I parked in Asda's underground car park.
I could feel the panic rising in my chest. Everyone was looking at me. I went back to my car and took out my purse and phone and left my bag in the car, thinking that might solve it. It happened again, resulting in a chat with the security card. I suggested it could be the tracking Tiles on my keys and purse. She was very dismissive of that suggestion, although I know it is possible.

On my way back and entering Asda, it happened again and on my way out at the bottom of the escalator. I could feel my heart pounding (not a good situation to be in for someone, who has had two heart attacks!). I didn't even wait to be searched again, I legged it hobbled it to my car, as fas as my wee Hobbit legs could carry me.
By the time I got home, I felt even worse than when I went out.

The dilemma bothered me all day, was I destined to be searched every time I went out, or the alternative, remove the Tiles and go back to losing my purse and keys?
Then, I Sherlock Holmes had a 💡moment. I had been wearing the same coat, so I searched it, but nothing but a folded Radley, nylon shopping bag. Mmmm🤔. I was about to put it back in the pocket, when I felt something small and hard. It was.....a security tag!!!! I am an eejit!

We have the Duracel Bunny today, which is always a joy, but exhausting. She rather eccentric ( like her gran) and always makes us laugh. However, she seems to have reached the terrible twos, ahead of schedule! she is very advanced for her years 😉
My two wee granddaughters, 😍 have given me a reason to keep going, when I have felt life very hard at times.

Best wishes for all the hospital appointments and hoping all in the sick bay or who are sad, have a reasonably good day.
Enjoy your day, folks.

EkwaNimitee Thu 13-Feb-25 07:38:09

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where it looks like another grey, dreary day is ahead.
Yesterday it drizzled on and off all day, not a glimpse of sun. I stayed in and kept busy with chores and admin plus I finished my book which I will return to the charity bookshop so they can make more money off it. I also had a call from DS2 in Sydney. I still bless the wonders of modern technology as I can remember those brief, expensive dialled calls on the landline. Now we can see each other too!

Today will be much the same as yesterday. I was hoping to take a trip out to the garden centre but one of yesterday's deliveries was delayed and, as it needs to be signed for, I shall have to wait in. Maybe it won't rain and I can get out into the garden?

grandMattie I hope the eye problem isn't serious and you are easily sorted. I can't understand unreliable people, don't they have appointment calendars etc?

And wishing you all a pleasant day if possible.

Greyduster Thu 13-Feb-25 07:36:22

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where we are promised a dry day! Yay! Our writers session at the library was shorter than usual as there had been a medical emergency before lunch and there was, temporarily, only one librarian available. They are not allowed to open the library without two, so we had to wait until another one turned up, but we did, in the end, have a very productive session.
Walking group this morning but at the moment I feel as if I have slept on the floor all night and then something has come and run over me! I really don’t feel like the early start. Hopefully a shower will ease all the aches and pains.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from cold but dry South Lanarkshire.

We had a lovely afternoon with DGD yesterday catching up with all her news.

You sound more like yourself Kalu. smile
I’m looking forward to meeting stilllearning today.

Good luck with all the eye appointments. Wishing everyone a good day.

Kalu Thu 13-Feb-25 07:12:56

It must be wonderful to have such good health in one’s latter years Karma. I do envy those who have, enabling them to continue with strenuous gardening work I wish I could still do.
Good luck at A&E GM. I hope a solution it found for your eye trouble.

GrandmaC47 Thu 13-Feb-25 07:06:27

I’m up early today. Our cleaning lady comes at 9am and I’m off to the optician at 10 so need to be showered and dressed before she comes. Dh will have to rise earlier than he usually does 😀. His swollen leg is very slowly deflating but could take a long time, and he’s feeling sorry for himself.
Grandmattie hope your eye is sorted asap.
Karmalady I envy your energy.
Roses you remind me I need to book a dentist appointment
Have as good a day as possible everyone.

madeleine45 Thu 13-Feb-25 07:05:09

Good Morning Mick and all Gn's on a very dark but still morning in North Yorkshire.

So very dark can see nothing outside at all so far. It is obviously the day for the "eyes have it" for gn's. Today I go to see the specialists and find out what is going to happen next. Calmer than the other day as now quite fatalistic, the day is here. Hope that it is good news for all other gn's and they get seen on time. I have been told that a driver is picking me up about 10am but not heard from them and no idea who it is going to be so fingers crossed they arrive in time etc.

So now I am going to just have my coffee and listen to Bach and read all your doings . Then, it is all systems go. I am going in the shower and wash my hair and get dressed in appropriate clothes. Whenever I have to go to hospital, it is never what clothes I would chose for the weather but have to think of layers. Mostly at the moment very cold outside but the hospitals are usually quite warm so it has to be things that are easy to take on and off, and provide ease for the particular part of the body being looked at. This time of course that wont matter. So we shall see what we shall see.

I had yet another frustrating time in the bank trying to get things sorted but have to now go back with the original letters , as the fact that they see me standing there with ample identification does not count, but fingers crossed tomorrow I shall finally get the cards, telephones, and whatever else sorted. One good thing with new bank is that the doors open automatically and I can drive in in the buggy, so on a rather painful day, it is much easier than getting into last bank.

I did have a successful coffee time with the young man, and am delighted for him that he has a found a new job for two days a week helping at a local cafe. He is very pleased to be going there and I hope it all works out for him. I am sure that once they have him there they will see what a very willing learner he is and is very trustworthy about coming when he says he will.

I have every sympathy with you grandMattie, it is infuriating when you have made careful plans and think it is settled for someone else to just mess things up without even letting you know. The problem is of course, that when we have standards about what we do and so forth, other people who dont , can just let us down, and worst of all they dont even think they have done anything too bad. Yet besides the annoyance of the occasion it puts more pressure on us , when we now worry if our plans are being carried out. Of course when it is voluntary we often cant even do much about it. I always feel that if I have promised to do something, voluntary or not, the only reason for letting people down is illness or accident. Do hope that another person , more in tune with your attitude turns up to join your team.

My plan after getting ready is to get all the bedding off and in the washer so that it can be doing that while I am out. Then if the day is dry, I shall be able to put it out when I get back and of course have the pleasure of lovely clean sheets that smell beautiful to sink into tonight. When people are asked what will they do with the money when they win the lottery the talk of new houses or cars or travel. Well yes I would love to travel more but actually a great joy to me would be to have lovely fresh linen bedding changed every day, which is dried outside and ironed by somebody else!! Now that I do call a luxury! Ah well today it will be me remaking the bed but it will be something to look forward to for the end of today.!

So do hope that you all have a good day and that your plans all work out. The weather forecast has just said that it is going to be mostly dry today. Hope they are right. Enjoy your day everyone and keep safe

Kalu Thu 13-Feb-25 07:00:26

Good morning all. A repeat of yesterday’s forecast, 3deg and cloudy again. Yesterday was bitterly cold 🥶

I had a lovely catch up with TopsyIrene yesterday. Lots of blethering over coffee in good company was the perfect outing. after which, did my Waitrose shop then as both GDs were at home I headed for DD1s. GD2 had made brownies, it would have been rude not to taste one, they were deliciously chewy just as I like them. More blethering, catching up with these two social butterflies and lots of cuddles with two extremely pleased to see me labs, such a welcome from dogs is so uplifting.
Some basic housework then hairdressers this afternoon. My mojo has returned. 👍

Hopefully today is a good day for all especially those struggling through worrying times whatever they may be.

RosesandLilac Thu 13-Feb-25 06:44:31

Fingers crossed for your trip to A&E for your eye grandMattie 🙏🤗

RosesandLilac Thu 13-Feb-25 06:43:27

Good morning from cold, dry south Glos, I’m forlornly hoping for sunshine here!
Yesterday’s trip to the dentist discovered a filling that needs replacing 😵‍💫🙄 so that’s booked for Friday lunchtime.
I did a bit of shopping, including treating myself to two pots of hyacinths which I absolutely love, a pile of fresh vegetables from the greengrocer and some yellow ticket bargains in the Co-op which went into my freezer. Quite a satisfying morning really!
How utterly exasperated you must feel grandMattie, I hate unreliability in people, it’s an unnecessary burden to put on you.
My friend had her hip op done by robotics yesterday, she should be home today. She’s the fourth person over the last month I know having replacement surgery - there must be a waiting list initiative going on around here although none of them have been waiting long.
Dog walk this morning, I might take her on a longer walk and see if DH will pick us up in the village to save the long uphill hike home- it isn’t steep just tedious!
Wishing you all the best 🌹

Good morning from s somerset, dull, cold and breezy today

I am planning to get the allotment ship shape by march, I want it to be easy manage for my older age, hence the work input now. I see that there are people of over 90 still working allotments, saw them mentioned on youtube with neater productive plots than many busy young people.

More of the same today, progress is very good and today I will remove and saw the last decaying wooden raised bed, ready to go to the tip. I work until I slow down, when my body tells me it is time to go home, usually between 3 and 5 hours.

I did a bit of spinning last night, having turned the tv off at 8.30, so I slept very well

Have a good day

Jaxjacky Thu 13-Feb-25 06:38:12

Morning from S Hants, dark, 2 apparently, stretch class at 9:30, then I’ll collect my new glasses. My son’s wedding is now booked for September, so planning is afoot.
I hope your eye is ok;gMattie

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-Feb-25 06:22:16

Morning everyone, still dark and rather chilly here in S E Essex 2°.

DH will have to wake up soon to make the 10yr old his breakfast and get him sorted for school. Normal 8am early start day.

The cleaning fairies are here just after 8, nothing else planned. Might have a doze this afternoon, still not sleeping that well, but hey ho worse things happen at sea 🙋‍♀️

kittylester Thu 13-Feb-25 06:14:38

Good Morning all from a chilly and dark North Leicestershire.

Up and out of bed early this morning as I have to be at the eye clinic for 9. No idea how long that will take so poor DH will just have to hang around.

Back to normal with a Sainsbury's delivery at tea time.

Have the best day possible everyone.

grandMattie Thu 13-Feb-25 06:09:19

No probs.
She is a delightful person, but very unreliable. She did the same thing to the server on Saturday.
My other “helper” is a retired GP. She is out of the country, travelling, for about 10 months of the year…🤨

Bellasnana Thu 13-Feb-25 05:54:36

Oops! I meant grandMattie, of course. Fat finger syndrome strikes again.🤦‍♀️

Bellasnana Thu 13-Feb-25 05:53:32

geamdMattie you are right to be furious. I don’t understand why some people can be so unreliable. Clearly they gave no qualms about letting others down. I hope some help can be sorted as it’s too much of a burden on you.💐

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 13-Feb-25 05:48:04

Good morning, too dark to see the weather yet, but it was very cold last night, it would be nice to see some sun. MrOops is trying to book a holiday just to find some.

Have a good day everyone, hope all the poorly Grans get well soon.

grandMattie Thu 13-Feb-25 05:46:44

Good morning from a dreary cold Bristol.

I was absolutely furious with the lady who was supposed to stand in for me at the FAB cafe yesterday. Having agreed to do it over a fortnight ago, she never came. I was oblivious until evening, when we were given the attendance. Her excuse was that she “was with her running friends” and was “all over place atm”! Hmmm.

I shall have to have a talk with the vicar (it’s his baby) and see if we can find an extra occasional helper. I need it as I can’t be there 52 weeks of the year.

The library book group was great with animated discussions on “My Cousin Rachel”. The three men enjoyed it too, which was a bonus. I got a laugh when I said that the plotting and machinations reminded me of Harry and Meghan.

Last night, my operated eye suddenly decided not to play ball, so I shall go to the eye hospital A&E first thing and have it seen to.

All the best to those with mountains to climb. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Bellasnana Thu 13-Feb-25 05:40:27

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s still dark in Malta but we are promised a high of 20°C. Very spring-like weather here. We have skipped winter again I think.

Lovely day with the boys yesterday. I felt so mean waking them after their nap but they went off to nursery with their other grandparents, DGS1 cried bitterly which broke my heart and I did the same after they’d gone.😭

I took myself off to do a bit of shopping and bought a lot of mostly unnecessary things. Stopped for tea and an enormous slice of lemon drizzle cake, half of which I brought home with me.

I’m off again to the boys in a minute armed with supplies to attempt a painting activity with them. Fingers crossed it works and we don’t get paint where paint shouldn’t go!😂

Wishing a good day to all and thoughts with those who are struggling. Hope your knee is better today Ash.☀️
