Kalu

Good morning all. 1deg. and rain this morning in Glasgow.

We had a power cut last night around 10.00 pm which only affected half of our road. I continued reading my book by candle light until connection was restored. It was quite cosy.
A trip to the PO to post a little surprise for DD2 in Australia who is feeling down at the moment.

Of course each to their own Bella perhaps it was wrong of me to offer my opinion sharing something I would happily accept, not meant to come across as something I was telling you what to do. Far from it. Pleased to hear you are happy with your colour done. I get it.
Enjoy your holiday in sunnier climes Bonny

Best wishes to all for a good day especially those with worries and struggles whatever they may be, I hope you find some respite today.

Dearest Kalu of course it wasn’t wrong of you to give an opinion and I apologise if I gave the impression that I had taken umbrage at your comment. Nothing could be further from the truth, I’m so sorry if my comment came over in a negative way.

Another late good morning from my bit of South Lanarkshire, just as cold as baubles’ I do need to visit the shops and wish I had accepted my friend’s offer to take me there on our way home from our visit yesterday.
Possibly a blast of fresh air will give me a boost.

I’m going to order Cannery Row from the library BlueSaphire, a change from recent detective stories!

I enjoyed a holiday in Cadiz a few years ago Liberty and very much enjoyed it, I hope you do too.

Have as good a weekend as possible everyone

Good morning Mick and all from 3°C Sand Land, northwest coast. Art group yesterday and the room was warmer than last week, when I was chilled to the bone. However the cold seems to have frozen my brain and my watercolour was nondescript.
Today a day at home, which I’m glad about as I can catch up on various things. I might spend next January and February abroad in a warm climate, as people do, I can’t seem to get warm…

Safe travels Liberty and Bonnybanko and thoughts to all🌺

Good morning from a chilly County Durham with a sprinkling of snow on the ground.

Yesterday we took a trip to Leyburn, a place we've often driven through and always thought we must return for a wander. It was bitterly cold when we made our way onto the "Shawl", a hillside walk heading out of town. We didn't last long in the chill and hurriedly made our way back to find a coffee shop. The market was in full swing, mostly fruit and veg and we could clearly hear the farmers mart in the distance with the auctioneer rapidly chanting.

Little GD2 collected her framed painting after school, a birthday gift for her mam. She's turning into quite an accomplished mini artist. DH is super proud of his apprentice.

Today we plan to cosy up, it looks so bitterly cold outside. I have my book, knitting, plus plenty of pottering to get on with. Next weekend is our family holiday trip where all seventeen of us are to be reunited for my big birthday. Fingers crossed all goes to plan.
A few tweaks for our Murder Mystery evening. Do I need more props, decorations? I am excited, it certainly takes the sting out of turning 70, but there again I remind myself to be grateful as some people unfortunately do not live to such an age.

Wishing all a peaceful day.

GrannySomerset Sat 15-Feb-25 09:20:15

Nothing planned so a very leisurely start to the day after a rather restless night. Sky still grey and like others I yearn to see the sun. Supermarket trip now unavoidable so that’s the plan. Hope all the travellers are enjoying their various adventures and that those under the weather have a better day.

Kalu Sat 15-Feb-25 09:19:42

Thank you for the florist link Ash. A lovely selection found for DDs area which I will use. 💐

Jaxjacky Sat 15-Feb-25 09:11:51

Morning from a marginally less cold S Hants, grey skies and I think we’ve had light rain, we had sun yesterday afternoon, it was lovely.
Usual trip to our local last night which was busy, good to see friends and catch up on their week, our plumber, electrician and mechanic drink there, always handy if you need a job done.
Today is forecast showery, I’ve got seed potatoes now, they’ll go in egg boxes to chit - that’s the kitchen table occupied for a few weeks, easily moved if necessary.
Enjoy your weekend morningers, hope the poorlies improve.

Yes BlueSapphire we are and this is our 2nd time on the ship. Excellent,as you will know,in all aspects. April will soon come round.

BlueSapphire Sat 15-Feb-25 08:54:52

Good morning everyone from a wet and grey Northampton, set to last all day.
Lovely sunshine yesterday and it was quite pleasant walking back from the bus stop after my three dance classes.

Shall brave the raindrops later and hop on the bus to the shops; I quite fancy a steak for dinner tonight, and like to choose my own, so I never order one in my grocery delivery. Shall probably have a coffee and a bite to eat. Then home and watch some catch-up tv. I finished reading Cannery Row yesterday and loved it. I have ordered our next book club book from the library; they will email me when it's in my local branch.
Browsing Facebook last night and succumbed to an M&S advert, and ordered a new bra - exactly the colour, size and style I wanted to wear under my new long dress! I shall collect it on Monday.

Liberty enjoy your cruise - I have a feeling you are on the lovely Adventure - I shall be on her sister ship in April, can't wait!

Hope all have a good day, despite the weather.

Good morning all from a dull and damp Black country.
Need to go to bank again the details we were given for a transfer were the wrong sort code.
Friends coming later and we shall go to the club.
Those in sunny places enjoy.
Usual full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Have a good day everyone ☀️.

Taichinan Sat 15-Feb-25 08:46:10

Good morning Mick and all. No time to read the posts again this morning because I'm off to the beach! Our Tai Chi on the Beach monthly sessions start this morning! I shall wrap up warm and go down there hoping very much that nobody else does and I can come back home again!! According to my weather app the breeze is coming directly off the sea, the temp is 3° and we can apparently add rain to the mix - just what the doctor ordered!
My friend and I enjoyed our lunch yesterday - three hours of non-stop chat. We don't meet up all that often so there's always a lot to catch up on.
After my trip to the beach this morning I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend. I hope you enjoy yours, whatever you are doing, and that those with illness or troubles feel lighter x

Gingster Sat 15-Feb-25 08:46:04

Good morning all and it’s back to cloud and chilliness. I don’t know why I thought yesterday morning was milder as I got colder and colder as the day wore on. We saw the sun though which was lovely.

I went to my pedicure at the lady’s house and it’s the best one I’ve had and half the price. I’ll certainly go back. We chatted non stop for an hour and a half .

Today I’ll shop for tomorrow’s lunch as all the family are gathering. Too many for a sit down, so it will be another buffet.

Liberty lovely to hear from you and I’m glad the Bay of Biscay is behaving. We’ve had some ‘shockers’ there. 🌊.
Enjoy !
Bonnybanko have a lovely holiday. ☀️.

Half term this week but I’m not needed for childcare. Gone are the days where activities and trips were planned. I’m not sorry, but I did enjoy it at the time.

I hope all your days are good ones.🌱

Susan56 Sat 15-Feb-25 08:31:51

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Yesterday evening’s visit to be signed off for my eye op went well with assurance over the bloodshot eye and good advice for future eye drops for dry eye.
Today a visit to the farm shop and chat to DS who is off for a break with DDiL.
Usual curry later
Bonnybanko enjoy your holiday.

Greyduster Sat 15-Feb-25 08:18:49

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp, cold South Yorkshire. I’m late this morning. Slept right through the night without even a bathroom visit. Must have been the small glass of sloe gin I had about nine o’clock! I am having a quiet day today; a little light housework and then knitting and a book. DD and the menfolk are off to Lincoln for another look at the university and asked if I would like to go along and visit the cathedral, but I have declined. It’s not fit weather for me to sightsee while they explore academe, and Lincoln Cathedral is at the top of a very steep hill - I would need crampons and an ice axe today!
Have the best day you can, folks.

Liberty Sat 15-Feb-25 08:12:50

Good morning from a sunny Bay of Biscay with a reasonless calm sea. The WiFi is very patchy at the moment on board and the photo I’ve just taken of the sun rising won’t post but I hope you can feel its warmth from my words.

We enjoyed a delicious meal in the speciality Nepalese restaurant last evening and tonight is a formal one so out with our posh togs.

Interesting lectures yesterday on the ports we visit, first one Cadiz on Monday and an interesting this morning on “ Morocco….the smugglers’gateway to Europe” by a drug smuggler and order crime investigator.

Hope those feeling under the weather feel better soon and all have a good day.Hope to be able to post next week.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 15-Feb-25 08:09:01

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Our daughter is here and is already having breakfast. She is still jet lagged from her trip to Oman.

We are looking forward to lunch at our favourite restaurant later.

After she has gone back to London this afternoon I must start to think about packing for my Australia trip. It is about 30 degrees so I will be packing mainly summer clothes!

So I had better think about getting up. Have a good day.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 15-Feb-25 08:08:37

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where its dry and Alexa might as well just say “it’s the same again love’ as its 3°C, overcast and 5°C later. L’il Miss is coming over at 9am, here till noon. Himself will be off with the Boy Wonder and his parents to watch the ⚽️ match over in Warrington. L’il Miss and I will go to the library in the square, have a mooch, hot chocolate as we do. It’s half term just started so she’ll be excited!

After that, absolutely No Plans so from noon we will just hunker down, stay warm, read, and Himself will doubtless find some sport on tv to watch! Thinking maybe steak, fried onion and a pouch of peppercorn sauce from the larder for dinner. 😁

Marydoll Sat 15-Feb-25 08:04:25

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, where it is 1°C.

I plan a quiet day before church tonight. I have coughed half the night, now have a painful throat and streaming nose, as well as the ulcers.
Baubles, I thought I saw flurries of snow, when I was wandering the house in the early hours, I thought I was dreaming! Perhaps not.

Yesterday, to my surprise, I received some lovely gifts and a romantic card from DH. He doesn't usually do romantic. Later on, he suggested that we go out for lunch on Wedsnesday, to celebrate our secret engagement forty nine years ago.
If he starts losing weight and buying a new wardrobe, I shall know he is having an affair! 🤣
I think he is trying to cheer me up, seeing how low and unwell I have been feeling.😍

I will wish you all a pleasant Saturday, enjoy your holiday, Bonny.
GG get well soon.💐

RosieandherMaw Sat 15-Feb-25 07:59:01

Good morning from N Bucks where we seem to be “paying” for yesterdays Spring sunshine with more rain. Ah well.
I’ve had a troubled night possibly with the Birmingham family’s half term travels on my mind - GS2 was due to leave at 3.45 on his wonderful school trip to Lapland and the Arctic Circle (so guess who was awake “in sympathy”!). Then GS1 was flying at 7.30 to Italy on HIS school ski trip - so I woke up at 5 (just to be on the safe side) . D, SIL and GD were also off taking off at 7.30 - I just hope it has all gone smoothly, it’s the sort of holiday organisation I loathe.
I’m off to London for an overnight babysit for Ds2 and 3 ‘s little boys - together- let nobody say I don’t earn my granny badges!
For all on granny duty this half term I wish you “Bon courage” 👏👏 but also lots of fun.
Wishing you all a pleasant weekend.

Grandmabatty Sat 15-Feb-25 07:56:16

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and damp. Grey skies again. Yesterday it brightened up for a while and it was nice to see sunshine.
Yesterday breakfast with dd and the boys went ahead. We tried somewhere new and it was very nice. The boys behaved well too. Later I went to the retail park to pick utpart of dgs1's birthday present which I had ordered. I bought some little outfits for a friend's granddaughters. One is a very new baby and the other misses out during covid. I had a phonecall from the hospital to say mum has a chest infection and is on antibiotics. She doesn't seem to be in any discomfort, although she's still not eating or drinking much at all.
Today I'm meeting a friend for breakfast at the local garden centre. They've changed the way you order and she won't like that. Then tonight I'm going to the cinema with other friends. I'm not a fan of the series of films tonight's is part of, but it's nice to be asked and I try to agree to outings. I hope my eyes are ok for driving to town and back. Have a good day all

brook2704 Sat 15-Feb-25 07:55:04

Good morning everyone from Inverness, it’s still very cold at 0° and cloudy.
Enjoy your holiday in the sunshine bonnybanko 😎
As the ground is still mostly frozen here gardening is still on hold for a while, so we’ll find something else to do today. But firstly I’m looking forward to a catch up call from DS in Switzerland, there’s lots of news to catch up on and plans to make for our next meet up in April,
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Redcar Sat 15-Feb-25 07:45:31

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cold, dry, with light cloud. Frosty early in the night, but the frost has gone now. Rain forecast for us later.
Yesterday started cloudy, but it cleared late in the morning and we had a lovely sunny afternoon. I managed about 10 minutes in the garden, pulling up forget-me-nots which had taken over one of the big pots of daffodils. My garden is full of violets, forget-me-nots and muscari (&weeds) the only place the flowers don’t grow is at the very back of the garden, I’d quite like them to move down there to cover the mud!
Not sure what’s happening today, I’m not expecting my DDs, they’re always busy on Saturdays. May try to do a little gardening if it’s not raining. Plenty of housework to do though so I’ll keep busy.
Have the best day possible, stay warm and dry.
