Good morning from Guisborough where we are all sharing the delights of the converted Town Hall for my birthday celebrations. Thank you all for congratulating me the other day.

Yesterday was spent pleasantly wandering around the town exploring. The weather couldn't have been better.

Our Murder Mystery worked perfectly. We all dressed up ready for the casino, even the young ones had roles to play. We halted the drama midway to cross the road into the restaurant, we made such an elegant procession. It was just such a joy to see the whole family from 8 to 72 yrs take their roles so seriously.

The star throughout was GD1, who never having taken part in a Murder Mystery before, was a natural. She had us fooled from the start, her ploy initially asking for little reminders regarding how to play, then the most conniving distractionary tactics, which were only unpicked at the end. She was in fact the murderer all along and no one at all guessed. At only 12years of age she misled and astounded us all. What an evening to remember. I have so much to be thankful for.

Today the forecast is wet and windy. We hope to take our family members from London to Saltburn this morning before the rain becomes too heavy.

Football will be on TV later then we've a quiz and karaoke to enjoy in the evening. The slow cookers will be working hard as it's beef sandwiches for main meal later. Nice and easy. Then home tomorrow. I will feel sad to be leaving this weekend behind, but wow, such fantastic memories to hold onto.

Wishing all a peaceful day.

Morning all, it’s dry in S Hants, rain due this afternoon.
I too enjoyed the rugby BlueSapphire two very good games, more later.
I got my gifted Hellebores planted and then we had some rain, handily settling them in.
My left ear is blocked, again, being sorted on Thursday, so annoying, it gives me insight into those who permanently struggle with hearing.

Good morning everyone from Severnside. It’s dry but rain and windy wind expected later.

I enjoyed a pleasant hour in the garden yesterday tidying up and raising one of my pots as it looks very waterlogged. A lot of rubbish collected from the front garden as it was bin day a few days ago.

Today I’m going to be in my craft room tidying and also get into my head properly something I’m working on.

Enjoy your roasts all of you 🍖🌷

Good morning all,
Not such a nice day today as yesterday. The sky is grey and it’s breezy, and rain is forecast. A complete contrast.
I should be going to church today but will give it a miss as my cold has flared up again and I don’t want to spread my germs. I feel quite tired as this wretched cold woke me up due to feeling all blocked up. I hope to be able to get 40 winks through the day.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9°, very windy and very wet. A change from the sunshine of yesterday. Bellasnana all the best for your little dgs tomorrow. Ekwa I've read that Hilary Mantel book. It's rather strange!
Yesterday dgs1 had a lovely day. His bowling party with seven chums and his older cousins went well. His wee friends are lovely and I know them all from the school drop off. Dgs2 apparently had a huge meltdown beforehand because he wanted a birthday too. He behaved well at the bowling however and was smiley and running around. In the afternoon I took dgs1's presents round and he was very pleased with his goalie gloves as he loves playing catch. Another wee friend and her mum arrived so I headed home for a quiet night of reading.
Today I'll head to Aldi soon. My remaining slice of bread is all mouldy, so no toast before I go. Then I'll finish the washing and housework. Later I'll visit mum. Have a good day all.

Good morning and the sun is shining here in Essex (for now anyway).

Had a lazy day yesterday watching too much TV and finishing my book club book.
I don’t like days like that - it makes me feel very lethargic.

Today we have my db and SIL coming for coffee. Dd and DGD may come over for a latish lunch but I’m waiting to hear.

Hope all goes well for the little chap tomorrow Bellasnanna.🤞.
Another one missing Mizuna. Hope she’s ok 🙏

That Orchid Garden sounds beautiful * Liberty*. You are really giving me cruise envy. 😉.

Take care everyone and make the most of the day 🌱

grandMattie Sun 23-Feb-25 08:30:58

All the best for your little DGS tomorrow, Bellas.
I loathed that particular Mantell, I don’t know why.
ATM, I’m reading a book “Still Life”by Sarah Winman. She wrote the one about Harold Fry. This one is heaps better. I’m having to ration myself not to finish it too quickly. I think it a book I shall buy for myself and reread periodically. I can’t recommend it more highly.

ginny Sun 23-Feb-25 08:26:36

Good morning.
I haven’t read the thread yet as I have to be ready for a zoom meeting quite soon.

We arrived home at 7 am. yesterday. Immediately unpacked, sorted washing and got in some food. Lazed for the rest of the day. 12 hour night flights are so tiring.
We had a fabulous time , would have shown more photos if I could.
We are out to lunch with Dd3 & family and DD2. DGSs say they have 3 weeks of hugs saved up for us.
Wishing all a good day.

Good morning from a damp and grey Black Country, after a fairly sunny day yesterday, with a sharp shower in the afternoon.

After housework yesterday, I decided the big fridge in the garage needed cleaning, so did that and cleaned the outside and the outside of the Freezer. Next job will be to sort out the garage, it needs a good sorting out and stuff to the Tip! Will wait until a warmer day.

No real plans today, except for giving our Bedroom an extra thorough clean.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

whywhywhy Sun 23-Feb-25 08:18:10

EkwaNimitee- what is the title of the book please? I’m looking for something interesting to read. Thanks.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a cold windy but clear morning in north yorkshire.

By now of course it is daylight, as I am very late joining you all. Been awake early as usual, but really struggling physically this morning and my hands have joined in the protesting, so have only got round to typing now. Still it will help me to get going a bit. I am keen to handwash my special cashmere sweater whilst the weather is just right for drying but will have to wait for a bit more loosening up first.

It was lovely to have some sunshine yesterday, and of course, threw plans of domestic clear up to the winds to enjoy the weather whilst it was good. So out on the yellow peril, back not good but managing ok on the buggy and got down into the market. Went for bread to the shop and the kind assistant who knows me saw me really struggling to get off the buggy and called out that she would bring me my loaf. As a regular she knows what I usually have, and was very grateful for that help.

Lots of people about early, partly the better weather, and also the end of half term and would think that some people were going home and thinking of school and work for next week. Very good for the stallholders, who have all been havin a lean time lately with the poor weather. The newsagent was also kind enough to bring me my Yorkshire Post, so I was able to do most of the shopping with not too much effort and pain.

In the afternoon I had planned to watch the rugby but then went to meet a friend at a local cafe. We had a long talk and it was so cheering to talk of many things and look forward to some garden visiting etc and towards plants and the summer. The best thing was that being able to talk to someone and enjoy the weather helped get my mind off things. Pain in itself is bad enough, but what is worse is finding myself thinking of things generally getting worse and when you are on your own in that situation no one to get you out of that depressing pessamism. But today, whilst still hobbling about I am thinking of hopefully trips to swaledale and the coast, once I get my eyes sorted and can drive again.

Anyway today I am happy to have a very domestic day. I love my radio three and desert island discs and then later will watch antiques road show and I think countryfile is on, so what with those and my yorkshire post to enjoy I shall be fine

So hope that the forecasted wet and windy weather doesnt turn out too bad for everyone and that we can have a peaceful and productive day, whether that is to create something lovely or tasty or to have a much needed rest.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Yesterday’s sun has deserted us again and it’s cooler out. GS and I had a lovely lunch yesterday and a walk that had to be cut short as my nephew and his wife were calling in with their adorable nearly three year old Grandson. He (and his grandad) played happily with a box of GS’s wooden trains that I’d sent DS up into the loft to find. Then he discovered my piano and sat on my knee for twenty minutes until my leg started to go to sleep!
Nothing much on the cards today - what there is will be weather dependent.
Ash glad you managed your shopping yesterday, but please be careful.
Bellasnana fingers crossed for your littlest tomorrow.
Have the best day you can, folks.

whywhywhy Sun 23-Feb-25 08:15:16

Good Morning from the midland. It’s sunny but windy here. No granddaughters last night as one of them had a stomach bug. I’m disappointed. I’m estranged from their mum, my daughter. So I never know what to believe. A brisk walk later. DH doing tea. I’m making a sweater for myself. Hope you all have a wonderful day. 🤗🤗

EkwaNimitee Sun 23-Feb-25 08:12:56

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey Carlisle.
We had a pretty rosy pink sky at dawn..I thought 'red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning'. That fits with the forecast, we have a yellow warning for wind and rain. I'm glad I'm not living right on the coast any more, up to force 10 forecast for the Irish Sea and Malin.

Yesterday I went out very early to Sainsbury's to get items Tesco don't supply and to top up the car. Then it was home for a second breakfast and a phone chat with my sister.
In the afternoon I was out planting some newish purchases in the garden. It was sunny and like spring! For the first time in a long time, I wasn't all bundled up in clothes. A shame it's not going to last.

Today will be indoors, catching up with the papers and magazines and continuing my new book. It's a Hilary Mantel I discovered in a second hand bookshop in Bristol, all about a medium and her sidekick. Rather out of my comfort zone but quite interesting so far and what a master of language HM is.

I hope you all enjoy your Sunday.

Blossoming Sun 23-Feb-25 08:06:15

Good morning from grey rainy Lancashire. It was a beautiful sunny Saturday and the steam railway museum was running trains. I couldn’t go out of course so I waved from the window. Another quiet day for me, have a peaceful Sunday everyone x

monk08 Sun 23-Feb-25 08:04:31

Good morning all from a dry but windy Black country.
Family coming for dinner today it will be good to see the boys, younger one on antibiotics again he has another kidney infection.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone whatever your plans, still no Mizuna hope things are ok and she is just taking a break.☀️.

GrannySomerset Sun 23-Feb-25 08:04:00

DS and DDiL coming from London to take me out to an early birthday lunch so am looking forward to seeing them and catching up with their busy lives. Not seen them since just before Christmas so that will be lovely.

Grey and windy this morning after a lovely sunny day yesterday; no settled spring weather yet but March winds look very likely. The garden is full of bulbs showing buds but reluctant to flower yet, but something to look forward to.

Liberty Sun 23-Feb-25 07:58:14

A quick good morning from La Palma(a Canary Island we haven’t visited before), Going for breakfast shortly and then on an excursion around the island.

We had a glorious day yesterday, the highlight being afternoon tea in the Orchid Garden. The garden and house adjoining it has always been owned by an English family and such care has been taken with the garden. A wealth of different coloured orchids, cacti and trees. Wish I could post some photos to share with you. We had dinner in the Italian restaurant which, although very good,we don’t like as much as the Supper Club or Nepaleseones.

Hope all have a restful day free from worries and health issues.

kittylester Sun 23-Feb-25 07:54:15

Good morning all from a dry but windy North Leicestershire.

Not a lot happening here today. Forest are on the tv so lunch will be served around 5pm. Other than that, the papers and a bit of tv.

Have the best day possible everyone.

luluaugust Sun 23-Feb-25 07:53:37

Good morning from a sunny W Kent a walk today after usual chat to DB. Yesterday was busy, after farm shop visit we visited DS and family. GD1 had been away on school trip for A level course, lots of pictures to be viewed.
Best wishes

GrannyGravy13 Sun 23-Feb-25 07:52:37

Morning everyone, it’s bright here this morning.

I have been reading under the duvet since 5am, nothing planned for the day.

Resting on sofa with elevated legs, I am getting cabin fever

Happy Sunday 🙋‍♀️

RosieandherMaw Sun 23-Feb-25 07:48:44

Good morning from N Bucks where it is already sunny but the forecast for the rest of the day is not so good with strong winds and (guess what) more rain.
I have no plans for the day- a dog walk while it is fine, some rugby on tv in the afternoon, and some reading perhaps
Hope to hear from the Birmingham family back from their travels last night - skiing in N Italy for the parents, GD and eldest GS and Lapland for GS2.
There will be some laundry going on in that house today methinks! Don’t you just remember those days at the end of a holiday ?smile
Wishing you a peaceful and pleasant Sunday and special thoughts for Bellasnanna’s little GS.

BlueSapphire Sun 23-Feb-25 07:48:36

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, but rain and high winds forecast later; thank goodness I don't need to go out today.

A pleasant shopping trip yesterday, getting everything I needed. Coffee in M&S, and a browse round Next where I bought some perfume to take on my holiday in April.

An afternoon of rugby when I got home with another nail-biting finish to the England match; enjoyed watching our Saints boys again, with Fin Smith's fantastic kick from the half way line.
After dinner I then watched the first episode of 'The White Lotus' which I had recorded earlier in the week - hooked, and looking forward to seeing what happens to this group of mostly awful hotel guests. It's never good.....

No plans for today apart from watching rugby again (France v Italy) this afternoon.
Perhaps a bacon butty for a late breakfast.

Have a pleasant Sunday everyone.

Sar53 Sun 23-Feb-25 07:47:25

Good morning from a bright but sunny Essex coast. It makes a change to see the yellow ball in the sky 🌞.
DH is off to rugby with his grandsons this morning.
I'm starting to pack my case to go and see DD1 on Wednesday. I haven't seen them since October so it's something I'm so looking forward to.
DGD's 2 and 4 are in a dance show all next week, the old gang show. DGD2 is a Ranger and DGD4 is a cub.
I hope you all have a peaceful Sunday xx

Georgesgran Sun 23-Feb-25 07:44:24

Good morning from Durham. Yesterday’s sunny day and garden plans were lost for me when my neighbours decided to light a garden bonfire. It burned for hours and the strong wind blew all the thick white smoke in my direction - I could barely see my own fence at times. DD2’s laundry had to be dried indoors yet again.
Today, she and I are taking DD2 to a local farm, as he is desperate to see some animals. I’ll just meet them there and if the weather deteriorates, we’ll end up in the big play barn. DD2 bumped her car yesterday, minor damage, but her fault and she’s very cross with herself, a first, since she started driving at 16.

Best wishes to all. X
