It’s not fair is it Taichinan we sort of expect the possibility of illness when we age, but the youngsters. I wish him well and hope the treatment is not too taxing.

I have just heard that a young relative has been diagnosed with Leukaemia.
She’s not quite 2.
Sometimes my faith is severely tested, and I know I shouldn’t say that but it’s how I feel.
My heart goes out to all who are ill themselves or have poorly relatives. I try to stay positive but sometimes it’s hard.

Best wishes to your DGS Taichinan

Hope Marydoll is ok.

Borrheid55 Sun 23-Feb-25 11:23:21

Marydoll hasn’t posted for a few days. I hope there’s nothing serious going on! I do notice as she is a school friend of about 55 years! Overcast here in Ashford Kent. We are going out shortly to pick up my Christmas & 70th birthday present. My DH bought me an eternity ring ( after 33 years). We had to wait while one was made in my size. Waitrose after that and home to prepare venison meatballs for dinner.
Hope all GNers have a good Sunday.

A late 'Good morning all' from a grey, wet and very windy Angus coast because I had an excellent and long night's sleep.
Yesterday was such a lovely day. I basked in the sunshine in the front sun porch before retreating to the garden room on the other side of the house at about 4pm and not turning on the lamps until 6pm. Knowing what the weather has in store for today I determined to make the most of such a glorious day. Not exciting and newsworthy, I know 😉
What a great 70th birthday weekend Anna! Well done to your granddaughter too. She must have been so proud to play such an important part on such a big occasion.
Poor little twin Bella - such a big thing for a little one to have to go through.
My oldest DGS has reached the ripe old age of 32, but even so I am heart sore that he is having to go through a course of chemo, starting tomorrow. He had his long (and I mean long, as in half way down the back of his 6ft 4!) hair cut short the other day. That was another 'lump in the throat' moment. How I wish I lived nearer and could give him a 🫂. His hair has gone off to be made into a curly red wig for some other lucky poor soul, so that's to the good anyway.
Right. Pulls self together. Off I go. The day is getting blacker so I shall switch on some cheering lamps. Have a good day everyone, whether in sickness flowers or in health x

Good morning all. It’s such a horrible day in Glasgow with heavy rain and high winds.

It was good to see some sunshine yesterday along with a visit from DD1 and DG2. Although cold outside we decided to have coffee in the garden room filled with sunshine and was warm and cosy. Millie dog was quite happy wandering around the garden and snoozing in the sun.
An at home day and will catch up with season 2 of The White Lotus. A pleasant escape into hot sunny weather.

Children are known to bounce back quickly Bella. I hope this is the case for your little GS.

Have a pleasant Sunday all, regardless of the weather.

Good morning Mick and all from a bright Berkshire. Lovely day with DD yesterday, a NT property, lunch, then a stately drive around the lovely countryside, so different to my flat fields at home in the north. The villages truly picturesque.
Dsister arrived in the evening and we had a fun meal together, lots of laughs, she’s very good company.

I was up with cramp in the night, which often happens after a couple of wines, I don’t know why…

Today off to see BIL (92) and SIL in Surrey and more books to pass on.
Glad you found your specs madeleine, hope to hear from Mizuna soon and thoughts to all.

Sounds like a wonderful birthday Annapops. Another here who loves Saltburn and the funicular.

* EkwaNimitee* Thank you. 🤗

I have a copy of ‘Still Life’ on my bookcase grandMattie I’d forgotten all about it. The owner of our bookshop recommended it to me last year based on the number of copies she’d sold. I will read it next as I’ve just started the new Anne Tyler ‘Three Days in June’ which came out last week and is now on my Kindle. I love Anne Tyler books, gentle and comforting reads.

EkwaNimitee Sun 23-Feb-25 10:03:20

whywhywhy it’s called Beyond Black, first out 2005. Described as ‘wickedly funny’ though so far I’d describe it as witty.

Good morning from an exceedingly windy Dunoon. I came down on Friday and had to change my travel plans halfway through my journey. Knowing it was going to be windy I’d decided to avoid being tossed across the water by getting the bus to Inveraray and from there to Dunoon. That plan was scuppered by a high sided vehicle being blown over on the Inveraray/Dunoon road which I found out about just before leaving Glasgow, so usual train to Gourock and the ‘wee car ferry’ which rarely gets cancelled.

I should be heading home today but after a lovely walking day yesterday it’s even wilder this morning so I’m here till tomorrow.
I really hope the weather calms down as I have an important appointment at the optician’s which I don’t want to miss.

Remembering FGT2 and Himself for tomorrow’s appointment and sending best wishes to all.

Annapops your weekend sounds fabulous. Hope you get to Saltburn, such a lovely place, and a scenic drive from Guisborough. We always loved the Seaburn cliff lift.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Oh karma I have to smile - I love your energy and zest for life:

I have no set plans for today, I did sort and box all my seeds yesterday and may sow some more, I will make soup from stored squash and will finish this sock. Spinning too, I like short sessions, to save my hands. Basically an RnR day as I have a car trip tomorrow

as your idea of R&R is SO very different to mine!!

Jaxjacky Sun 23-Feb-25 09:14:51

Annapops what a smashing weekend, it sounds brilliant.
Do you know when you’ll be home Auntieflo?
FGT big hug

Grammaretto Sun 23-Feb-25 09:14:09

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's blowing a hoolie!
Yesterday was lovely and I would send a 🌈 but we're still not able to post photos on here. Hurry up gransnet.

I was busy all day yesterday. I had to make last minute soup in quantity for the Town Hall café. The person who was on the rota forgot to turn up.

Enjoyment was overshadowed by the news that our main person and my dear friend is seriously ill.

Afternoon was the Gaelic café and I was invited out to dinner with friends. My DS phoned from NZ in the middle. I should really have switched off my phone but answered it just in case..... He just wanted to tell me my card had arrived for DGS birthday. And that the weather was wonderful.

Hoping everyone has a good day with some fine weather.

Grandmabatty Sun 23-Feb-25 09:12:37

Annapops your murder mystery sounds wonderful and well done to your dgd! Years ago, we used to host and go to murder mystery parties. They were always great fun.

Susan56 Sun 23-Feb-25 09:06:41

Good morning from Shropshire.Dry at the moment but as elsewhere rain and strong winds forecast for later.

We usually have a relaxing day on Sunday but with a busy week ahead I will sort admin today and prepare for the week ahead.DH has decided to paint the living room doors.

Annapops your Murder Mystery sounds brilliant and well done to your granddaughter.

Best wishes for your littlest tomorrow Bellas🙏🏻

Have a good day everyone🦩

Good morning, still from my hospital bed. We are only a small 4 bedded room and so not too busy. Thought I had somehow broken the bed, as it kept beeping and the mattress has been turned off.
Today would have been my dad's birthday, and I have lovely glimpses from the past of how he looked, always with a 'cigarette' in his mouth.
I see a couple of people are asking after Mizuna! wqsn't she going away?
Have a good day one and all.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 23-Feb-25 09:04:47

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where Alexa says it’s going to rain today. 11°C is forecast but with wind and rain I’m sure it’ll seem colder.

I slept poorly. My last dream really unsettled me and when I woke I felt almost tearful. Hey ho. I’m awake, got my TIB and my darling man beside me. I’m calming down again now. Aren’t dreams horrible sometimes?

We are going out for Sunday lunch with my stepfather. I’ve reserved a table in my favourite local pub it’s become very popular! I love no cooking of any kind of dinner on Sundays. It’s a treat I really enjoy and I’m grateful we three continue to be able to ‘Carry on Dining’! 😁

Now to read all the posts above mine! Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Good morning from a gusty NE.
Quiet day yesterday and then my sister rang from Germany, we chatted for an hour and fifty minutes. She is managing well after her accident in December, social care appears to be excellent.
DS, DIL and GD2 are coming this afternoon and we are going to a piano recital. Dinner will be something simple whe we return home.
Have a good day.
