Good morning Mick and all GN's on a clear dry (so far) day in north y orkshire.

The forecast is for rain of course but later on, so I may make the effort to do some hand washing today. I actually had to sort of give up yesterday. Was in such a lot of pain, and trouble bending etc etc, that instead of fighting it all, I accepted that sunday was not a day I was going to do much. Hands were so painful didnt even go on line so didnt join you . However I did end up getting some things done, Doesnt sound much but went through a lot of paperwork and magazines etc and threw things out, but am careful to take out my address or any financial information etc and have a friend who has a fire so every so often I have a little burn up there. So today quite gratified to see a whole bag of recycling stuff ready to put out.

Today in a much better state, despite being awake at 4.30am again, and in less pain so am now going to try and catch up with bits and pieces . I was in such a state yesterday I wasnt even up to cooking anything, so that is when the stuff I have frozen comes in useful, and an added bonus is that I now have a little space left in the freezer. So intend to have quite a domestic day of sorting out. How long this resolve will last remains to be seen but at least my brain is working a bit better!

So first boring bits of sweeping up and bed making etc and then while I am moving in an easier way it is going to be a fashion parade!! Well in reality I am going to go through a wardrobe and intend to divide into three piles. Useful stuff that can be checked over for missing buttons etc and returned to wardrobe, good stuff that I am fed up with wearing but nothing wrong with it, which will make sure is clean and then it can go to the charity shop, and the final one is they have a container now where you can put any material at all. It all gets checked through and recycled etc and so doesnt contribute to landfill. So, if this grand idea comes off I shall have a tidy wardrobe and then when I have the strength and will power I can start to look at more summer style clothes. I do know that they will all be clean, as I stick summer stuff in suitcases , washed but not ironed so they should not be much problem - except I expect that the things that I like the most either wont fit me any more or will be too difficult to put on!! No I shall reject that negative thought.

It is enough to start the day well, having heard the wonderful Brandenburg on Bach before 7 , had my coffee, and a dry start to the day. What more could I ask for after all the rubbish weather we have been having. It looks as though I have missed things happening yesterday, so can only wish everyone a better day today and that your plans will all or at least some follow through. Good wishes to you all

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve blue and grey skies and looks windy
Thank you for the update on Mizuna, Ash, I’ll definitely miss hearing her news on here but hope all is ok
I’m calling into DD2s first thing to help with a few jobs and then onto the gym later. I’m gradually getting used to the different classes there and everyone is very friendly
Hoping all medical appointments and procedures go well today, sending positive thoughts to all ❤️
Hoping to hear from marydoll soon
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright, calm Carlisle.
Yesterday's yellow warning for wind and rain was unwarranted. We had light rain in the morning, heavier in the afternoon and then the sun came out! As for wind, rather windy over the middle of the day but nothing unusual. The worst seems to have passed north of us.
Nevertheless, it was a day for indoors, playing opera rather loudly and reading the papers and my book.
I also booked my holiday, Greenland this year, won't be taking my bikini! (Confession--I've never owned one)
Today, a morning of the basic chores and the laundry. Later, we'll see, I'll probably plod on with my book.
Roseandlilac I bought my new mattress from Bensons for Beds. In my case, in the store but they sell online. If you buy a reliable brand, you should be fine. Mine's a Silentnight, improved my back pains from the first nights.

Do have a good day everyone.

Good morning and it’s raining and dark here in Essex.
Yesterday was pleasant until around late afternoon and I sat in the conservatory reading .

A nice catchup with db1 and SIL. They are good company and chat is easy with them.

Today I have my Chimes group and this afternoon music and memories, so a musical day all round. Singing, playing, and lots of laughter. It lifts the spirits especially on a day like this. 🎶. All for the price of £1. (Thankyou u3A).

I hope all the medical procedures go well 🙏.

I will miss Mizuna. I enjoy reading about her interesting life in Cornwall.

Take care all 🌱

Good morning from N Bucks where it is very wet. Nothing like the floods forecast for the SW and S Wales but dreich enough.
Meeting my half-brother’s cousin (from his adoptive family) for coffee this morning. We have been trying to fix a date since January but she and her partner spend at least one week a month away- last time she was in Spain then caught a virus, (probably on the plane) and was poorly for 2. weeks.
They’re off to Italy next.
(It’s not sour grapes but I think I might think twice if I was regularly unwell after travelling!)
Sending a hand hold to all with a worrying day ahead of them and kind thoughts to all- keep safe and keep dry!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 24-Feb-25 08:02:30

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and 8°C. No Alexa on yet as Himself is still asleep.

We are at The Christie Hospital mid afternoon for bloods and the result of the CT scan taken last Monday. Waiting for the consultant to come into the room with the news is always an anxious time. Thank you to everyone who is cheering us on from the sidelines, you are all very kind and it means a lot to me. 🤞for good news eh? x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 24-Feb-25 08:12:43

Delighted to hear that your brother who celebrated his 70th birthday yesterday doesn’t have cancer after all LLFL all the family must be overjoyed. The best present he could have asked for and such a relief!

Taichinan and Bellasnana my thoughts are with you too today. x

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. It is raining and probably windy but I can’t see the trees from my bed!

I survived my colonoscopy on Saturday - my report said my bowel prep was ‘excellent’ (sorry) - I felt like a 5 year old with praise from the teacher 😂. I returned home briefly before heading over to DD’s (DH driving as I’d had sedation), for her 50th celebration and DGD’s 21st. They had an ‘At Home’ with nibbles and cake and hot food later. It was lovely to see some of the primary school mums I used to chat to when picking up GCs all these years ago, and also to meet some of DD’s work colleagues. We didn’t wait to see DGD’s friends - they were arriving in the evening and going out about 10. One was going to join them in town when he finished his McDonalds shift at midnight. Oh to have that energy! DGD is off back to Salford this week, for her final few weeks at university. Sadly, having loved it the first few years, she now can’t wait to finish. One of her friends and housemate has fallen out with her for what sounds like trivial reasons but of course I haven’t heard both sides. GD was always the peacemaker among her friends at school.

I have my book group today,, meeting at a local garden centre. Sadly, I gave up on the book (In Memoriam by Alice Winn) - too traumatic in its descriptions of WW1. I’m not usual such a coward. Maybe it’s the time of year and the state of the world…
It will be lovely to catch up with the group though.

Thinking of the FGTs, Bella, Taichinan and hoping to hear from Marydoll.
Madeleine, you have done well with your sorting out, in spite of your pain and stiffness. I hope you have some better nights this week.

Hope sunshine returns for us all soon.

monk08 Mon 24-Feb-25 08:23:54

Good morning all from the Black country.
Washing just finished but it will be the airer and tumble dryer rather than outside drying which I prefer.
Thanks for the update Ashcombe regarding Mizuna I shall miss hearing of life in Cornwall.
Thoughts to those with medical appointments today hope all goes well.
Have a good day everyone, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed ☀️.

Good morning from Madeira where it is a sunny start to the day in Funchal. We are off on an excursion later but will enjoy a leisurely breakfast first.

We had a fascinating time in La Palma yesterday. It is such an interesting and unspoilt island, with 2 totally different halves re weather and vegetation. The eastern side where we docked is often misty and lush with bananas, oranges, avocados and some almonds, the western side always sunny with a beautiful National park. A ridge of very high mountains separates the 2 halves.

I hope that those with medical issues or awaiting the results of dear ones have positive news.

I’ll read all your posts after breakfast but probably won’t post again til we are home on Friday morning as we set sail early evening for Southampton. If the photo facility returns I’ll try and post 2 or 3 of some taken on this cruise( including my craft production of which I’m extremely proud!).

Grammaretto Mon 24-Feb-25 08:29:29

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sun is shining and wind has dropped. Hooray!

I broke my favourite mug last night and then discovered my hot water bottle was leaking.
Today I am giving a talk to U3A about my life as a potter.
Luckily I only get 20 minutes as others are speaking too! We must leave time for coffee 😂🤣

Later my DH cousins are calling to give me moral support and take away any family heirlooms when a house valuer is here.

Sorry to hear about the real worries you have FGT, Taichinan Bellasnanna and others.

Happy news from Down Under Llfl

Wishing you all a happy day.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 24-Feb-25 08:32:51

Oh Ashcombe such a shock to hear of Mirzuna’s decision!
I know all of us here will miss her posts from Cornwall and please pass on our thanks for entertaining us, with our very best wishes too.

Jaxjacky Mon 24-Feb-25 08:34:20

Morning from a wet S Hants, we’ve had rain and wind since mid afternoon yesterday.
My best wishes for the young lads with medical procedures today and everything crossed for MrFGT
I was thinking of you earlier LLFL great news, enjoy the rest of your stay; I’ll miss the travels of Mizuna
Voluntary phone today, quiz tonight and I need to get the satnav/my mobile link working in my car, it was fine until a couple of months ago.

Good morning. Dull and dreary here so I’m using all my imagination thinking back to the last 3 weeks when we were able to sit out in the sunshine for breakfast.
We have friends here for the week, they arrive at lunchtime. They are staying with mutual friends around the corner and I will do most of the catering.
Hope all the appointments and ops go well.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

GrannySomerset Mon 24-Feb-25 09:00:47

Better this morning than yesterday, which was vile, but still raining, just less heavily. Lovely lunch with DS and DDiL and a proper catch up with DS though DDiL says less. Today will be domestic and may involve cleaning some windows but I also have plenty to read so that may take precedence.

Like others I have missed Marydoll and am hoping for good news. It’s very disconcerting when a regular poster suddenly disappears, so thank you Ashcombe for telling us abou Mizuna.

aggie Mon 24-Feb-25 09:10:03

Lovely sunny morning in Co Armagh, hope it lasts ,
I’m looking forward to a walk round local NT garden and coffee in the cafe ,
Sorry to hear that Mizuna won’t be posting , I loved her descriptions
Hoping to hear from Marydoll 🕯️ are lit

Good morning from a far better looking day than it was yesterday in Wiltshire. I’m really aching as the air pressure is low.

School pickup today for DGD3 and then DGS2 all day tomorrow. 🤞he is in a better mood than he was last week as he wasn’t much fun at all. We won’t have him again now until just before Easter as he will be back at his farm nursery next week.

I will be thinking of Taichinan’s GS today and Bellas’s GS also. Best wishes to the FGT2 too.

Have a good day everyone.

harrigran Mon 24-Feb-25 09:19:10

Good morning from a dry and sunny NE.
Yesterday was wet and windy all day but did not spoil our trip to the Glasshouse for the Steven Osborne concert.
GD2 is on holiday this week and has several theatre trips organised plus volunteering work as part of DOE award.
Nothing planned for today so will tidy round and catch up with some TV.
Thoughts are with those with medical issues and awaiting results.

Good morning Mick and all from a slightly sunny Berkshire. It was good to see my BIL and SIL yesterday, we had a nice lunch of chicken and apple and ginger tart. I took a couple of Beverley Nichols’ books which they enjoy as much as I do and some chocolates. Haven’t seen them since last August.

After that DD drove to pop into see her close flying friend and I had some Prosecco and nibbles. She’s very hospitable so other friends were there and I passed on another book to her. I have so many I have to shed myself of them.

Just cheese and biscuits with DD in the evening and an early night. Today to Hampstead before I head north tomorrow.
Thoughts to Taichinan Bella FGT and sorry to hear of Mizuna’s decision. I did enjoy her posts from such a lovely part of the country.

Taichinan Mon 24-Feb-25 10:11:11

Good morning Mick and all from a beautiful, blustery 'March' morning on the Angus coast. I've just realised I've forgotten to switch the central heating on (which act of omission tells its own story!) so have decamped from a chilly garden room with its far reaching views to the front sun porch with its view of trees, grass and hedge, and a glorious little clump of golden crocuses. And warm bright sunshine. Whatever happens later, a sunny morning sets you up for the rest of the day.
I was sorry to hear of Mizuna's decision to leave us - I'll miss her posts. Do you remember that photo of her son tossing her little grandson up in the air? And how she would sit out on her little patio in the early morning? Oh well, life moves on.
I have so far only skimmed over the posts this morning - I shall return to read fully later - but I must thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my grandson, Fraser, as he begins his fight against his Leukaemia. Treatment would appear to be five consecutive days this week of chemo injections and then he is left alone for six months for them to work their wonders. His immune system will be severely compromised so he can't have many visitors and we're all rather glad that L'le Ollie isn't yet of nursery school age - you know the bugs little ones so joyfully spread around!
Bella thinking of your little twin today too 💕
Huge admiration to you Madeleine for getting through yesterday.
Today I'm happy to be around house and garden on a sunny day. If I can find a little corner out of the wind, that's where you'll find me. I hope you can all find your own little corners in the sun ☀️☀️☀️

whywhywhy Mon 24-Feb-25 10:40:49

Good morning from a damp midlands. Hope the sun comes out today to brighten the mood. Started another jumper for myself last week and going to knit some more this afternoon. Sorting out wool stash this morning. Just feel a bit flat today. Hugs to all. 🤗

luluaugust Mon 24-Feb-25 10:49:19

I shall also miss Mizuna as she bought back memories of happy holidays and easier times. All the best to her

HelterSkelter1 Mon 24-Feb-25 11:06:14

I shall miss Mizuna so much as well. I loved imagining her town, her Wetherspoons, her bus trips to another town or beach and her pretty patio. I wish her well.

Redcar Mon 24-Feb-25 11:14:21

I’m sorry that Mizuna has left us, I really enjoyed her posts and seeing her photos of her garden. I was jealous of her walks on beaches that we’d been to on family holidays years ago.
ash if you’re in touch with her, please pass on my good wishes. Thanks.
