Good morning Mick and all to follow from Shropshire where it is dark but the rain has stopped for now.

We are up ridiculously early as we are about to set off to Staffordshire to look after DGS1.His parents teach in the same LA but are back today. He is back tomorrow and the grandchildren in North Wales start half term today.

Hoping for good news for Mr and Mrs FGT.

Marydoll💐hope we hear from you soon.

Have the best day possible everyone🦩

Bellasnana Mon 24-Feb-25 05:45:00

Good morning from Malta where it is just getting light and we expect a day of high cloud wth a high of 18°C.

I got a lot done yesterday, cupboards sorted, boys toys and books put away where they can easily access them, cleaned throughout.

Made the mistake of trying to heave a bag of compost and have a very painful arm for my trouble. karmalady I have no idea how you do it! I don’t consider myself unfit but I’m obviously not as tough as I thought!

Taichinan, your grandson will be in my thoughts today as he begins treatment. I pray all goes well and he will be healed. Much love to you as I know how you will be worrying about him.💐

I’m off to look after DGD1 whilst his brother is at the hospital. I’ll take hm out for a bit then take him to nursery this afternoon. I’ve been unusually weepy these past few days so hope nothing sets me off in front of him.

Hoping for a good week ahead for you all.☀️

Susan56 Mon 24-Feb-25 05:49:23

Taichinan and Bellasnana my thoughts and prayers are with your DGS’s and both you and your families today🙏🏻

grandMattie Mon 24-Feb-25 05:49:26

Good morning from a dry Bristol. Yes, Mick, the mornings are now getting noticeably lighter. The equinox is not far off now. Yippee!
FGT, I am thinking about you all. 🤞🤞🤞 🤗
Wasn’t yesterday absolutely horrible. It started raining when I left church and was stormy for the rest of the day. Such a difference from the previous one.
I’m going to see “Golden Days” this afternoon - the monthly OAP film show in the church hall. It was partly filmed locally, as in this part of Bristol, so I expect that there will be a large number in the audience.
I’m still rationing myself with my book. It is so lovely.
I hope this week brings nothing but good news/health, etc. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

grandMattie Mon 24-Feb-25 05:50:52

And 💐 for taichinan and bellasnana with your boys

RosesandLilac Mon 24-Feb-25 05:50:54

Good morning, it’s wet here in south Glos too.
I need to get a new mattress I think, I’m sleeping badly and I’m aching when I get up. I don’t remember the last time I woke up feeling refreshed! I guess I need to find a store to try some out but there are few around here, not even in Bath now Jolly’s has closed. There’s a John Lewis’ in Bristol but I won’t drive there.
I know some people just buy one online, has anyone on here done that?
Another muddy dog walk today, I need some new wellies soon and my waterproof coat is not particularly so despite reproofing it 🙄
Hoping for sunshine this week 🤞🏻🌹

Hello everyone from a very hot day on the central coast in New South Wales.

My brother’s birthday celebrations went very well yesterday. It was lovely catching up with three nieces (one of whom is expecting a baby in five weeks), one nephew, a great nephew and my new great niece. There was delicious food, cakes and champagne. We had musical entertainment - a group of my brother’s friends who sang in a sort of 1970s hippy surfing style.

Today (I’m eleven hours ahead) my brother saw the oncologist who assured him that he did not have cancer. However, he is seeing a cardiologist in a few weeks about his heart.

There are wallabies hopping around my brother’s enormous garden!

Have a good day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 24-Feb-25 05:56:54

I’m thinking of the FGTs today and hoping all goes well.🌺

karmalady Mon 24-Feb-25 05:56:55

Good morning from s somerset, sunny and showers today

I have a trip to the dentist today, involving a car ride and may be popping into a Dobbies garden centre for a look around, I don`t need anything so may not, depends on my mood and the traffic

Have a good day

Grandmabatty Mon 24-Feb-25 05:57:05

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and too dark to tell the weather prospects. Taichinan, Bellasnana and FGT, I'm thinking of you all.
Yesterday I had a pleasant day pottering about and getting housework done. I visited mum in the afternoon but she slept the entire time I was there. She hasn't eaten in a month and survives on very little fluid. I think her body is shutting down now.
Today will be a long day. I've slept very badly last night and have a long day ahead. Once I drop off the boys, I'll do a couple of hours in the school library then home for a rest before pick up. Have a good day all

Greyduster Mon 24-Feb-25 06:01:42

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark; another hour before we see the sun. I had a particularly lazy day yesterday apart from going to Aldi in the morning. The weather wasn’t fit to go out. I have the chiropodist coming this morning, and then a haircut scheduled for this afternoon. In between, there will be ironing, which I can no longer ignore.
Have the best day you can, folks.

cornergran Mon 24-Feb-25 06:14:33

Morning Mick, morning All from a soggy corner of Somerset. Still raining, forecast is brighter later.

Yesterday was wild, it seems calmer out there this morning. We’ll be off out later and have 🤞 for it to at least be dry. Our son was born 50 years ago today in the middle of a snow storm. We had opted for a home birth, the midwife and her trainee were pleased to have arrived before the worst of it. Can’t say I really noticed the weather!

Hoping for positive news for fgt and her husband. flowers and a hug for bellasnana and taichinan. My thoughts are with all finding life hard going just now.

Hope Monday is kind to us all m

Georgesgran Mon 24-Feb-25 06:16:39

Good Morning from Durham, where we are assured of another wet, feeling cold day. My, wasn’t yesterday dreadful?
We had to spend most of our farm visit in the soft play area yesterday and were handed free tickets for next time.
Usual start to the week with coffee and chat with a friend. I’m sorting photographs at the moment, lots belonging to DH’s parents - subjects unknown to me, so they’re being binned.

Thinking about Bellas Taichinan and the *FGTs. Many here have walked in your shoes and know what you’re going through.
Hoping MD is up to another novella soon.

Best wishes to all. X

Ashcombe Mon 24-Feb-25 06:17:37

Good morning from a damp Torbay where we had similar weather to yours yesterday, grandMattie, with wind and rain from mid morning onwards.

My thoughts are with those facing medical issues today especially FGT2 and her husband, and the grandsons of Bellasnana and Taichinan. It must be heart wrenching to watch your mother gradually fading away, Grandmabatty. 💐

For those who’ve been concerned about Mizuna, she is well but for various reasons has decided to withdraw from Gransnet completely. She sends thanks and best wishes to all.

I hope we hear from Marydoll soon and that everyone else has a good week. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

kittylester Mon 24-Feb-25 06:22:07

Good morning all from North Leicestershire. At the moment there doesn't appear to be any weather!!

I have a telephone appointment about my kidneys today with no actual tome specified so I will have to find stuff to do in the house. I do have ironing to do and the house plants could do with attention.

Have the best day possible everyone.

grandMattie Mon 24-Feb-25 06:24:02

roseandlilac! I recently bought a mattress online and am very happy with it.
I read the reviews in the Telegraph and mulled for awhile before deciding which type, then which I could afford.

RosesandLilac Mon 24-Feb-25 06:33:30

grandMattie thank you! I have just been looking at the Telegraph reviews - no bed shops around here have the one that seems most suitable for me so it’ll be a waste of time trying others.
I will keep my fingers crossed….😊

GrannyGravy13 Mon 24-Feb-25 07:04:02

Good morning everyone, I think we shall have a wet and blustery day here.

I have an appointment first thing this morning for my knee, fingers crossed it has healed and I can begin with gentle bends and movement.

Nothing else planned, I am getting rather fidgety with this enforced rest. Will read the thread with a coffee later.

Bye 🙋‍♀️

Sar53 Mon 24-Feb-25 07:23:56

Good morning from a wet and grey Essex coast.
Today DGD2 is 16. I received a lovely picture of her yesterday with the beautiful birthday cake made by DD1.
I will be with them on Wednesday, so looking forward to seeing them all.
Admin, washing and cleaning today, not very exciting.
Thinking of Bellas grandson and FGT.
Best wishes to all xx

Bonnybanko Mon 24-Feb-25 07:27:20

Good morning from a dark and wet start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. I hear the seagulls from my bedroom window It’s usually a sign of rain. I live 3 miles from the coast and they come in land when the weathers bad,
Today I’m off to St Andrews to make a dental hygienist appointment it’s long overdue. I’ll then visit my friend who lives near the dental practice I’ve not seen her in a long time.

Have a good day.

Redcar Mon 24-Feb-25 07:29:59

Good morning from mid Essex. It’s mild and very wet at the moment, although it may clear up later 🤞. I had thought of going into town to get a few bits, but won’t bother as it’s so wet.
DD2 called in yesterday morning and we went for my usual walk, she slowed down to my pace! After she’d gone I did a little gardening, good to see the hellebores and crocuses in flower. Some of the daffodils are fighting their way up through the mass of muscari that are taking over the garden.
An indoor day today I think.
taichinan I hope your DGS’s treatment goes well today and fgt I hope you have good news today.
crossstitchfan so sorry to hear about your young relative’s diagnosis.
bellasnana I hope that your littlest grandson’s procedure goes well today and that he’s not too uncomfortable afterwards.
Have the best day possible everyone, may we all find some🌞.

BlueSapphire Mon 24-Feb-25 07:30:30

Good morning everyone from a wet Northampton.
Yoga first thing, then home for a quick lunch, then a trip to the dentist for my six-monthly check-up.
Hope that all those awaiting results today have good news.

Kalu Mon 24-Feb-25 07:35:45

Good morning all. Supposedly dry until 6pm and of course, more high winds again in Glasgow. Sun has just appeared.

10 days and counting until someone can come out to survey my fence damage. More high winds are not helping!
I will have to wait indoors for a non specific time until a delivery arrives. Other than that, take the day as it comes.

You are in both my thoughts for this afternoon GFT🤞
Thoughts too for Thaichinan and Bellasnana. (((Hugs)))
Wonderful news and such a relief for your brother LLFL you can relax now and enjoy the rest of your stay in Australia.
Hope all is OK with you Marydoll
Roses, I bought an EVE mattress online and it is perfect. seeing mine, a friend also bought one.

Have the best day possible all.

NannyJan53 Mon 24-Feb-25 07:38:42

Good morning from a very wet Black Country. It seems to have stopped raining for now.

Have to decide shortly whether to go on my usual Monday morning walk, as it will be very muddy out there. Then Line Dancing this afternoon.

Wishing you all the best day possible. With special thoughts of FGT and himself.
