Good Morning Thursday 6th March 2025
(44 Posts)Good morning from a cloudy Black Country. No frost this morning.
It was a glorious sunny albeit chilly day yesterday. I went with a group of 30 u3a members to a tour around the Birmingham Rep Theatre. It was very interesting, especially as we are going next week to see Death of a Salesman there. Then some of us had lunch in the Art Gallery Victorian Cafe. Goodness it was expensive. £10.95 or more for sandwiches.
Walking group walk today, then onto Mums to take her food shopping.
Enjoy your last day in Malaga FGT shame about the weather.
Wishing you all the best day possible.
Morning all 🙋♀️
I hope the sun shines on you both FriedGreenTomatoes2
The 10yr old is having his breakfast (toasted egg and bacon sandwich)
Heloved the Lion King yesterday, he is fortunate that his school still carries on with trips like this. Extra pleased that he bagged the back seat on the way home so all his pals sat together.
Nothing planned today, I have a few aches after the gym yesterday, bit pleased with how much I could do, gentle steps but on the right road.
Wishing you all a good day 🙋♀️
Good Morning from Durham. It’s dry, sunny, but still windy here.
I’ve an empty as my friend has cancelled meeting up today, to try to finish her son’s decorating. He painted his lounge dark blue, doesn’t like it, so she has the job of turning it pale sage - not easy! I do, however, have a list of toiletries to get, so I’ll head off for those later.
Safe travels to our GNs on the roads, in the sky, or on water.
Hoping those in the sick bay are improving.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning all, it’s 7 C in Glasgow.
A busy day ahead, we have the Duracell bunny, so the hatches have been battened down..She has already requested a wee tea and scone at the swings!.
Yesterday was rather eventful. Fortunately, I managed to secure a face to face appointment with my own GP. I was so relieved when he phoned and on hearing how fragile I seemed, suggested I come down to the surgery. He was horrified at the state of my mouth and throat. His face was a picture, when I told him that the GP last week had suggested Bonjela.
His kindness, taking more than the alloted tens minutes to listen to my tale of woe, and realising that I had basically had enough of ill health, felt like huge weight being lifted from my shoulders!
The outcome, I have two prescriptions to try and tackle the problem. The only downside is that I must stop my heart meds for a few days. Swings and roundabouts and all that! It seems I am also running a temperature, another reason why I am feeling so awful.
I also asked him to look at two sores on my face, which won’t heal. I explained that one of the secondary causes of my mother’s death was an untreated basal cell carcinoma, hence my concern.
He was of the opinion that the sores are suspect and I have medication to try and treat them, but it looks as If I may need to see a dermatologist. Life is certainly not easy at the moment.
DIL phoned me in a panic, just after I arrived back from the hairdresser. What a treat that was. She was checking if I was OK.
She was on her way to pick up Dollie from next door, but the end of our road was blocked by a fire engine, parked horizontally across the road, along with police cars. She saw the aftermath of a three car accident, which must have happened just after I arrived home. A lucky escape indeed.
The road was still totally blocked last night, when I went to open up the church and a number of policemen still on duty, guided me around the police cars to allow me out.
DIL said it looked very serious, I hope no-one was badly hurt. It is a 40mph road, which suddenly becomes 30mph at a difficult junction. Few observe the speed limit and you need eyes in the back of your head.
The scaffolders arrived yesterday to sort the roof, but apparently it didn’t work out and they took it down again.😡. They will be back today to try a different configuration. 😭
I must get up and move my car again, to allow them access, so I need to get a move on.
Safe journey tomorrow, Llfl, you sound as if you have had an enjoyable holiday.
Best wishes to all, who are struggling and need a virtual hug. I remember you all in my prayers..
A special thanks to all you lovely, Gransnetters, who have propped me up, and also prayed for me, when I have been so low, mentally and physically. It has certainly helped, onward and upwards.
Unexpectedly DH's new car is arriving tomorrow. He cannot be trusted to organise his insurance, so has asked me to organise it. It will not be easy, for Babydoll is permanently glued to my side! 🤣 Wish me luck!!
Have a pleasant day folks.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and sunny, although rain is forecast. GrandMattie not nearly warm enough to sit out here as there's a cold wind.
Yesterday I pottered about in the morning and worked in the school library in the afternoon. The children had dressed up a potato as a character from a book and they were all on display. They were very creative and inventive! At the same time, a little girl was having a violin lesson and was playing Pachabel's Canon. It was lovely.
Today I'm back at school this afternoon. It's World Book Day and I've been asked to read a story to the three infant classes, one after another. I am looking forward to it. This morning I will potter again. Best wishes to the travellers heading homeward today or tomorrow.
Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is milder, no frost, clouds due to arrive this afternoon.
Yesterday went well enough, admin completed a happy hour or so garden pottering in the afternoon followed by a chat with our Welsh friend, she finds this time of year difficult.
We’re heading out today. Mr C expressed a wish to visit Cheddar gorge and caves so off we’ll go. Apparently a breakfast stop on the way, not sure how he snuck that one in but why not?
There’s a bed full of the Spanish bluebells in the development shrubbery at the front of our bungalow, no sign of colour yet, plenty of leaves. Apparently planted in 1987 there are hundreds now. A wonderful sight when in bloom if a wretched nuisance as somehow they manage to march across two paths to appear in our front lawn.
Hope Thursday is kind to us all.
Good morning everybody from Málaga on our last day here. It’s dry. 16°C is forecast later. Yesterday we didn’t poke our noses outside at all as it was wet, windy and chilly. No thanks. My stepfather told me it was sunny again at home.
We plan to go down to the marina this afternoon to eat our main meal. Regardless of the weather we’ve enjoyed the change of scenery and we have had a few sunny hours on some of the days!
Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.
I am helping at a Memory Cafe this morning and we have a Sainsbury's delivery at teatime. DH has a volunteer drive.
Good morning from Shropshire. It doesn’t feel as cold today.Sun forecast until mid afternoon.
We had a lovely day in Liverpool yesterday.Today we have nothing planned.
Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩
Good morning from s somerset, dry and cloudy today
I took the last of some very welcomed items to the mens shed yesterday, actually it is a mixed shed, very friendly and I have been invited to call in for a chat whenever I want
Today I think I will need to tie up loose ends, I have plenty of those, nothing too specific. I may also start my beetroot pickle fermentation this evening, I am expecting pickling spice today, it takes 72 hours and will easily keep for two weeks. I have a family gathering buffet next weekend and will serve it then
I am making a greek-yoghurt- style probiotic at the moment, just for me, it takes a good day and a half to be ready. Needs to be precise temperature and timing, the scientist in me prevails
A re-cycling run this morning and then pottering at home
Have a good day
Good. morning, Michael and all GNs from still dark South Yorkshire where it is 5 degrees outside - positively balmy for “oop ‘ere”. We had wall to wall sunshine yesterday. Bluebells, Mick! What a joy!
Yesterday’s writer’s group was very productive. While I was out I managed to get a new battery for a little Waterford Crystal clock I keep on my mantelpiece. Surprising how I’ve missed it while it’s been out of commission.
Thursday walking group this morning and after a quick lunch with DD, I will come home to meet a decorator who is coming to quote for freshening up a couple of rooms. He was recommended by a friend.
Have the best day you can, folks.
Bellas, bluebells are wild hyacinths and don’t grow where it’s too warm. And me too, I love English bluebells, not so much the Spanish variety which seem to be taking over.
Good morning from a dry, slightly milder Bristol. The rain is promised from late afternoon.
FAB cafe was very successful. As expected, since most of the attendees live alone, their eyes lit up at the sight of the pancakes; none had made any the day before because there would have been too many to eat in one sitting…. The vicar joyfully ate about 5 - so much for the beginning of Lent and privations!
I went out and saw that some of my neighbours were sunning themselves in a sheltered corner, so joined them for a chat.
Ash Wednesday service in the evening; my goodness, I got the most serious ashing of my life, it was large and very, very black. I had to wash my hair when I got home as it had got into my fringe.
Today, I have my indoor taichi. He usually gives us a really good workout.
I’m down to 4 hourly eye drops; gone down from a week of hourly, 2 hourly and 3 hourly….
Have a good day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning from Malta where we expect a cloudy day with rain later and a high of 16°C.
Yesterday started cloudy but was lovely and sunny by the afternoon.
The painter came and gave me a quote which was about double what I had hoped for. Oh well, my planned getaway at Easter will now not be happening!
I love bluebells Mick, I don’t think I’ve ever seen any in Malta though.
I’m off to look after the boys. No nursery today which I’m glad about as Twin 1 was not at all happy about going yesterday and clung to me like a limpet when his other grandparents came to collect them. It just breaks my heart to see them unhappy as they are usually such cheerful souls.
I’ve been awake since 2am so it’s going to be a tiring day.🥱
Have a good day all.☀️
Good morning, a dry and unfrosty start here in south Glos.
It was really chilly yesterday first thing; I walked the dog in bright sunshine but minutes after getting home the fog descended and the temperature dropped noticeably. I did do an hour’s gardening but I got very cold. The fog eventually lifted late morning.
A fidgety day, I couldn’t settle to anything for some reason 🙄, it happens occasionally. I did set up the new BT modem because our internet has been cr@p for a couple of weeks. Of course that then meant resetting WiFi on various devices.
I also noticed a weird transaction on my online banking for Premier Inn in Rochdale so spent 20 minutes talking to a lovely lady in the fraud department who’s cancelled my card etc. A bit of a nuisance but at least new one should arrive in 5 working days 🤞🏻, meanwhile I won’t be doing any shopping!
Today’s plans are the usual things, art group this afternoon and I have an online art thingy this evening so plenty to keep me busy.
Wishing you a lovely day 🌹
Hello everyone!
Yet another warm and humid day.
Some old friends took me out for lunch today. There was a beautiful view of the blue sea and it was all very lovely.
I’ve just checked in for my flight tomorrow. OH tells me it is 14 degrees back home.
I’m taking my bro in law and sister out for dinner tonight. In the morning I am meeting niece no 2 for coffee and cake and then my sister will drive me to the airport.
Have a good day.
Good morning Michael12. I’m awake but still in bed with a cuppa till I have to get up for work. It doesn’t feel so cold this morning in Essex, and I think the sun is shining for most of the day.
I’ve only ever been to Bicester once, the shopping outlets, and that was many many moons ago.
Enjoy your day, the early mornings are so special aren’t they?!
Good Morning Everyone,
A dark , but dry start here in brackley could be milder outside .
My usual routine on the bus to Bicester , yesterday returning home I spotted bluebells out in the grounds of a retirement home in Bicester.
My health is OK ,
Take Care,
Mick
