Good morning from a cloudy and dry midlands. Two granddaughters coming tonight, hopefully. Hugs to all suffering. My sciatica will not go away. X

Good morning from a sunny N.Bucks.
Yesterday I had coffee with DD3. No children’s or other adults. Lovely to have her to myself for a while, as much as I love the rest of my family.
Afterwards was lunch with 3 longtime friends.
This morning we will do our local food shop for the week and this evening we are looking after DGSs 2 & 3.

Wishing all a good day .

Grandmabatty, decisions were made about my mother by social workers at a meeting with health professionals, without my knowledge.
A few choice words were directed at them. I was raging. They interviewed her in her hospital bed and believed her, when she told them I was giving up my job to take care of her. They had not bothered to find out about my circumstance, nor serious health issues.
This seems to be the norm.
I hope you get it sorted. 💐

Good morning all, I have lost my lengthy and entertaining, in my opinion 🤣 novella, regarding the new car insurance and collecting the car itself. As predicted, DH went rogue.😡
I thought I was being clever and put it on the clipboard, but yesterday's kept pasting. I am an old fool.🤣

Welcome to Sallyforth and congratulations to H&M and Kalu's granddaughter.

I have had a bad night, the new meds are making me very nauseous, and I am missing my heart meds and biologics, but I feel a glimmer of hope. I have no new lesions and I'm sure the ten under my tongue look smaller! I still can't eat solid food, but have made Scotch broth, which I am looking forward too. Simple pleasures. I have dropped to the same weight, I was when working. Now that is a bonus!! Onward and upwards.

I hope the travellers are safely home.

GM, you have put me in the notion for baking. However, everyone is following a healthy eating plan, and I have no-one to be an earth mother too!

Hoping your DH Baubles and the poirlies improve.
Have a lovely day, folks.

I often have to look up some of the words you use karma!
Every day is a school day as they say! 😂

Just a fancy French word meaning “staging Shelves”.

A bit like potager which simply means vegetable garden…

Welcome Sallyforth. Keep taking the vitamins!

That's what I tell my DC as it helps me avoid the viruses 🤞

Good morning from sunny West Sussex. I am planning to be out in the garden today. I have a half dug out Kilmarnock willow which I planted during Covid - it was a bargain in B&Q when they first re-opened after the first lockdown. I feel bad but it just doesn’t do enough for our very small garden. If I can get the root out relatively undamaged I will offer it for rehoming. Then I have a clump of tall grass (stupa) to cut back and some foxgloves to plant. It will be so lovely to be outside and not battling the elements.

Grandmabatty, how upsetting to have been informed of your mum’s move that way.

Sallyforth, welcome to Mick’s lovely good morning thread.

Thoughts with the sick and those struggling with life.

Good morning from another lovely sunny Suffolk where we have been promised a weekend of unbroken sun.

The rooks in the rookery are still busily flying back and forth with twigs in their beaks so the nest building,or repairing last years, continues. There is less activity than a week ago when we returned from holiday so I imagine they must be nearly finished.

A walk with the dog is planned at Walberswick later, just across the river from Southwold. I imagine the little rowing boat ferry won’t start til Easter but there is the footbridge further upstream. Coffee and excellent cake at the Tea Shed at an outside table I think. Who could want anything more?

Hope today is as good a day for all as it can be,especially thoseunwellor worried.

Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
Welcome Sallyforth good to have you with us👋.
Will pop to the bank I have a bill to pay and once again I will try to find some jeans, have been looking for months now and can't seem to find any.
Over to our friends this evening.
Well washing has just finished so will get that out on the line then being Saturday the usual full English is calling.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, will catch up with everybody's happenings later ☀️.

A fine morning is encouraging some very noisy birds and it feels distinctly spring like. Am looking forward to lunch with the daughter of our much missed friends - she is in the area and suggested it. Have known her since her DM and I pushed our daughters in their prams to the clinic every week, and we had many holidays and outings together so there is much shared experience.

Do hope that the poorlies are improving, especially Marydoll, who has more than her share of illness at present.

Good Morning from Durham. We are expecting to see some sun today and no rain. At last I have even seen a couple of crocus and daffodils in flower.
I think I’m going to a local farm with DD2 and family later, but details are still to be confirmed. DGS2 has his football session first thing.
Harri my hyperchondriac friend ‘demanded’ treatment for her cataracts and is being seen next Monday - almost immediate action! It never fails to surprise me how she does it.

I do hope MD is responding better to her new meds now.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and damp looking.
I'm rather disgruntled this morning. Yesterday, late afternoon, I received a phonecall from a social worker who had such a strong accent I had to ask him to repeat everything and I'm still not sure I got it all. Apparently mum is being moved to a care home on Wednesday. No-one at the care home has contacted me. Although it was one of the three I was asked to choose, the other two have been in touch over the last two years. This one hasn't. I've no idea of the room, whether it's suitable for mum, nor the cost. I would have thought the care home should have contacted me, not some random social worker. In addition who made that decision and how will it be paid? Although guardianship has been granted, my lawyer was clear that I couldn't do anything until I received the certificate which I don't yet have. I'm rather cross about it. Of course, he phoned me late on a Friday so there was no chance of getting anyone at the care home. I will phone today but I don't hold out much hope. It just seems as if someone has jumped the gun. Surely if I have Guardianship, it should be my decision. Sorry for the rant.
Because of that phonecall, I didn't sleep at all well last night. I'll have to do an Aldi shop this morning then visit mum this afternoon. Apart from that, I'll try and phone the care home. Have a good day all

Good morning the sun has risen early here on the east coast of Fife. It’s cold here but I’ll be nice and warm with the heating on. I’m looking forward to one of my favourite carers coming in this morning.

my ring doorbell has been on charge all night long , it’ll be good to see folks, especially the children walking by again , I miss this but hey ho it’s got to be charged.

Have a good day my friends remember to smile itll cost you nothing 💐dare I say it but I think the lurgy is leaving me oh happy days

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire. I had a bad night last night. Up a couple of times feeling feverish. DS was supposed to be coming down today but has hurt his shoulder and can’t drive. It was only going to be a football match flying visit but I shall miss seeing him.
A food shop this morning and then job of the day is to clean the inside of my car. I’m ashamed of it at the moment. The boot and front footwells are very mucky from walking boots and shoes. It’s going in for a service on Monday. Then I’ll spend some time in the garden.
Welcome Sallyforth.
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where its dry and mild at 8°C rising to 16°C according to Alexa. We feel energised after our holiday. Himself was singing just now whilst brewing up. Nice to hear.

We plan to see the little family later this afternoon at some stage. We have presents for the grandchildren. 😁

I popped into our independent pharmacy when we got home to find they’ve become ‘state of the art’ with an automated dispensing set up, activated by screen. ‘Our new robot’ the pharmacist laughed, “it’s brilliant tech, no other pharmacy has this for mikes around”. Wow!

Also CCTV cameras have been installed at our development, one at either entrance door and one at both entrance corridors to both lifts. When we bought, there was 24/7 manned security owing to this being town centre dwelling. It got removed several years ago and we have all been arguing with the management company ever since. Anyway we have a win since Trafford Councul got involved and sided with us. Installation has cost £8k apparently and the cost isn’t being passed on to us. Hurrah!

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. A visit to the local garden centre should give us a bit of a walk, a pile of ironing is looking at me so I guess I’m not going to be sitting around.
Welcome to Sallyforth
Marydoll I also hope your new medication works
Best wishes

Good morning all from a brightening North Leicestershire.

DH and DS1 are off to the football at 10.00 for an early kickoff so I have almost the whole day as an empty.

And, even better, fish and chips for tea.

Have the best day possible everyone.

brook2704 Sat 08-Mar-25 07:35:09

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright with just light grey cloud, we might see the sun today!
A very warm welcome Sallyforth I hope you enjoy this thread
We’re off out first thing to sit in with the DGC whilst DD2 goes to the gym. They don’t really need much looking after these days, more just keeping the peace and being there is they need us. After that we’re going for a walk by the river in town and a bit of shopping.
Hoping your DH feels better soon baubles
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Redcar Sat 08-Mar-25 07:27:24

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny but with a bit of high cloud and 5 degrees. Another sunny and mild day is forecast. DD2 took me out for a browse round the local garden centre yesterday, with coffee and shared cake. Littlest granddaughter chose the trolley she wanted to sit in and ate the icing off her bakewell tart, but not much else! We were looking at the birthday cards and she chose one with a picture of a very pink and fluffy sheep on it. The nursery rhyme is now Baa baa pink sheep!
I’ll go for a walk this morning, change the sheet and duvet cover and get them washed.
Welcome sallyforth I hope you’ve recovered from your viruses and are feeling better in this early spring weather.
cornergran a nuisance that your bus timetable and route have changed.
marydoll I hope you had a better day yesterday and that the change in meds is helping your sore mouth.
Have the best day possible everyone, thinking of those with illness and/or anxieties.

Gingster Sat 08-Mar-25 07:25:41

Good morning all and ive been awake on and off through the night and couldn’t stay in bed any longer. Just a cold but I’m not used to being unwell. 🤧.

Today I’ll just flop around - Dh will go to footie this afternoon so I’ll watch a film or two.

DS2 sorted out my I pad yesterday, over the phone, which is such a relief. He’s very patient and talked me through it step by step.❤️.

Grandaughter 4 is 13 on Tuesday and today they have gone to London to watch the Mean Girls Musical and have a sushi meal. This is right up her street, as it’s her ambition is to become an actress.. She’s been in Panto this year and loved every minute of the 32 performances she was in.

Thinking of all the poorly grans and hoping you feel some improvement today. 💐.

Take care 🌱

Good morning from a dry and mild NE.
I had an appointment with the optician yesterday, he said that the cataracts were more pronounced and did I want to be referred to get them sorted. If he hadn't told me I had them I wouldn't have known.
DS and GD may be visiting today but no word as yet, she does volunteer work for her DOE award.
Have a good weekend.

Sar53 Sat 08-Mar-25 07:21:52
