My usual routine bus trip to Bicester , and return to watch cycling on TV , although the races are in France and Italy the weather there has taken its toll .
My health is OK,
Take Care,

Finally!! I have just got back from a trip on the yellow peril getting bits and pieces from the market and shops, and just dumped them in the kitchen to check on GN's, and am glad to find everyone on and busy. I was getting so annoyed this morning trying this and that, and eventually rather badtempered, shut down , and didnt know if it was my fault as my laptop has been playing up a bit lately or what, So I stomped off shopping and calmed down and also had a coffee while I was out . Met other rugby fans in the cafe and am now back in good time to stay in , however sunny it looks out and be able to follow the rugby , so shall be overdosing on it as there will be three games to watch. .Was pleased to find that it was not my incompetence that caused the problems today.

When I left this morning the cover on my buggy looked to have a lot of raindrops on it, which I thought was odd as it looked dry from the window at the back. But when I went to take it off all the "drops" looked like little diamonds as they were ice and all spread across the ground looking lovely. Of course they then melted so nothing worth wearing!!

My eye is still scratchy and it takes an effort not to rub or scratch it but things improving and am looking forward to being able to drive again soon and longing to go up to Swaledale as soon as I can. That will really make me feel I am winning. Plenty of jobs that need sorting here of course now, especially as sadly I can see things more clearly, and have lost the excuse not to do something about it!! So the rest of the weekend it will be shouting at the rugby , singing all the great anthems except the dirge for England, and in the meantime such mundane things as ironing, and reorganising some cupboards etc. It is actually quite nice to do just simple things for a while. My back is slightly better today and so fingers crossed I will be able to do some of the things that have been waiting for me to be able to have a go. Maybe tomorrow I might dare to sit out and do a little gardening.

Hope all your gardens are doing well. At this time of year it is so tempting to plant things out early as you are so desperate to see some growing, but here in Yorkshire you would be very foolish to be putting stuff outside yet, as frosts like this morning can soon ruin your new plants. I always think that the stallholders who sell plants and bulbs etc will be rubbing their hands in glee as they get up to quite a sharp frost and know that quite a few people will need to be back restocking after losing the early ones.

Hope you are all having a good day whatever you are doing and that fingers crossed tomorrow we will be back to our usual ways.

Good morning everyone, sunny but a stiff north easterly breeze blowing. I’ve just been to tend my late DH’s grave, it’s his birthday tomorrow. DD2 will go tomorrow.
Lunchtime bingo yesterday was fun, none of our table won anything! Obviously it’s mainly retired people, many of whom are hard of hearing, which makes it even more entertaining!
Nothing much planned for today, I have to wrap a present for DGD2 who will be 7 next week, not sure if I’ll see her then or not.
grandmabatty glad that the situation regarding your mum and the care home has been resolved and that she’ll be nearer to your house.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Poor you Marydoll aphthous ulcers (even one, especially on the tongue the worst site) are exquisitely painful. No wonder you feel low after suffering with them for so long. 💐

monk08 Sat 15-Mar-25 11:01:02

Late good morning from the Black country.
Usual full English eaten and all the kitchen cleaned ready for next round of cooking.
Not much planned for today friends coming over later and we shall go to the club.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

👋 Kalu good to see you’re posting on the correct day this morning! 😁

Good morning all now that service has been restored. A milder sunny day ahead today here in Glasgow.

With such a good day ahead weather wise I will spend most of it enjoying being out in the garden pottering about at my own pace. DD1 will be popping in for a visit with Millie dog, her yellow one yr old lab. She knows how much I miss having a dog and Millie or Magnus are the perfect pick me up having them here.
I have some admin to attend to but I have given myself the weekend off to now do what suits me with no demands, I can switch off for a while.

Best wishes to all for a good day with a touch of sunshine to brighten the day.

A late Good morning everyone from south Manchester as I kept getting ‘Bad Gateway’ so gave up for a while! Sunny here, lovely and warm behind glass. Our Yorkshire Lass and her husband are driving over late afternoon. It will be lovely to see them for an hour before they drive across to our younger daughter’s house where they all plan a takeaway (no designated driver needed!) and drinks. L’il Missis already excited “grandma, Auntie A. is coming for a sleepover!”.

We are going out. Driving over to Bury to a surprise meal for a friend of ours. He won’t be expecting us and so we h need to get there early. Be horrible to bump into them in the car park and spoil the event!

Good morning and as I couldn’t get on to Gransnet , I went for the weeks shopping.

I’m glad to see we’re back on - we would so miss so much it if it disappeared for good.

Very icy out still with a chill wind.
Housework and bed changing as ds2 will be staying tonight after meeting up with his brother and old pals for the evening.

Watching the amazing new drama on Netflix ‘Adolescence’. Fantastic acting and a view into social media and the way teens are sinking into very dark places. We knew it was bad but this is shocking and terrifying.

Take care all 🌱

Para re: Chethams was intended for Hollysteers.

glammagran Sat 15-Mar-25 10:10:42

I’ve tried using strike through using both underline and hyphen but neither works for me.

Have a good Saturday everyone.

glammagran Sat 15-Mar-25 10:09:08

I was awake fairly early for me at 6:30 and saw the bad gateway problem and it did tell me it was at the GN end.

I’m pleased you enjoyed the concerto played by pupils from Chethams school. It reminded me that the head there until recently, was my DD2’s headmaster prior to Chethams, at her girls school in Newbury. He was very keen on musical theatre I recall.

DD2 and the kids are coming round this afternoon as their Dad cracks on with their garden makeover. DGS2 loves to hinder help. When removing their rockery last week he lifted a huge rock which he promptly dropped just missing his foot. He will be 4 at the end of April and I swear he is already stronger than me. Then hopefully they will go home so we can watch the final England game of rugby.

Good morning from a chilly but sunny Black Country.

Lovely day yesterday with my friend. We drove over to Moseley Old Hall. Interesting tour around the house, with information of when Charles II was hidden there, and how escaped to France etc. Some of the grounds were closed for upgrade. So after a wander round, we found a pub on the way home for lunch.

Make a start on packing today ready for our trip to Lanzarote on Monday.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Good morning from a sunny W Kent, that’ll teach me not to post when I wake up
Usual sort of Saturday with shopping and curry. Piles of washing have appeared from nowhere.
Tension due to A level mocks in various family homes, very sympathetic and glad it isn’t me!
Best wishes to all

cornergran Sat 15-Mar-25 09:54:33

Morning Mick, Morning All. Clouding over now after a clear sky to start the day over our corner of Somerset.

Gave up earlier. Quick whizz in before we set off over the bridge to Wales. 🤞 the motorways are kind to us. Be interesting to see how the shoulder and arm hold up to driving. All good information for the physio.

Our granddaughter has been in transit since last night, in her second flight now. I track her plane every now and again. I’m determined not to overdo it and just be happy for her.

Special thoughts to those finding life hard going, sometimes here it feels like running up a sand hill, almost get to the top to slide back down again.

Have the best day you can everyone.

A quick good morning from a bright sunny Suffolk before I meet a friend for coffee and cake at a lovely cafe on a farm on the way to Southwold. The y diversified into all kinds of new ventures several, years ago with a maze in the sweetcorn season,an adventure playground, pumpkin picking at Hallowe’en, a holiday cottage and this lovely cafe overlooking the marshes with walks around.

She is picking me up I soon so will wish you all the best day possible.

A late Morning from the south, we slept until nearly nine, so missed gateway palavers, it’s chilly, sun and cloud, should stay dry.
How hard Susan and your looming op
A worry for you too with your sister Sallyforth
Pleased to hear about the funding Grandmabatty and the locality of her care, a weight off for you.
No huge plans today, usual tidy up in the kitchen, wipe down units and tidy up the fridge, grocery delivery just got bunged in yesterday.
A brisk walk later before the rugby and newspaper to read, which has no magazine, annoying.

Mollygo Sat 15-Mar-25 09:43:06

Good morning from the bright, sunny but very chilly Lancashire coast.
As I shivered my way round the field in the crispy grass with the dog, I wondered why her feet don’t seem to mind.
Entertained DGS2 with his new girlfriend yesterday. She seems very nice and they took the dog for a long walk, so double bonus.
Apart from that, DD is waiting anxiously for some health results so we’re all a bit on edge.
Have a good day if you can.

Good morning, it’s frosty but sunny
I usually lie in bed reading this thread , but I had to get up instead !
I couldn’t negotiate the bad gateway !

Aggie, Bad Gateway means that GN's server is down, nothing anyone can do, until it its rebooted by GNHQ --and they were probably having a lie in.😉--

Thanks , Marydoll
It’s funny how anything different from routine annoys me , but getting stuck in a rut is not good
Did me good rolling out of bed early ( if only to get an extra cup of tea ) 🤣

kittylester Sat 15-Mar-25 09:35:24

Good morning all from a bright but chilly North Leicestershire.

We have decided to go for a drive and find a pub for lunch.

We had a lovely tea with DGS3 for his 18th birthday yesterday- he was off out with his friends later. He had had really good news being offered a degree apprenticeship with his preferred company and a starting salary of £24k. He was a very happy boy.

We have also had some not so good news. DH's younger brother is in hospital with a chest infection and dehydration. He has Lewy Body dementia and his lovely wife had recently, and very reluctantly, moved him to a care home.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Georgesgran Sat 15-Mar-25 09:34:00

Good Morning from Durham - it’s glorious - blue sky, sun, but cold after a heavy overnight frost. I’ve had an early start and couldn’t access GN, so been out to have my hair cut and back home now.
It was a lovely lunch/afternoon with DD2 yesterday (the North Sea was beautiful, but wild) and I must thank all the GNs who sent birthday greetings. It’s odd, because I’m quite chatty and outgoing, but I hate any fussing over me.
Today, I’m going to take Little Dog out soon, as I’m giving DD2 a hand with DGS2, as her DH is off to Wembley with his Dad. His Mum has gone into a care home for the long weekend, so we are going to visit her there. I hope she settles in and likes it, as it could be a boon in the future.

Best wishes to all. X

GrannyIvy Sat 15-Mar-25 09:33:10

I had a very difficult troublesome brother Grandmabatty made life so much harder caring for my dear mum. Mum thought he was golden boy tho😂 Won’t tell you what my sister and I called him. Sadly when mum passed no further contact with him but happily no further problems. Thinking of you and Susan and others caring for their mums 💐

GrannySomerset Sat 15-Mar-25 09:29:01

Not often I post on page 1 so the “bad gateway” message has obviously deterred some of the regulars. Fine but cold here and no plans for the day but a little shop in the village and several books on the go and a couple of good films on BBC2 will fill the time.

Good morning.Chilly and dull in N. Bucks at the moment.
Today we shall do a small food shop locally and then we ‘ll pop to the local garden centre to buy a couple of pots.
DH wants to watch the rugby this afternoon so I shall settle down to some art or craft work.
Tomorrow I am off to the scrapbooking group so must prepare for that. Most of us have been on travels lately so there will be lots of chat about foreign lands.
All three of our DDs are away with their Grandmother who is 93.. They do this once or twice a year and always have amusing stories to tell on return.
Wishing all a pleasant weekend.

Marydoll Sat 15-Mar-25 09:24:48

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow. It was -3C when I woke up.

Susan and Sallyforth 💐

I am feeling a bit down today, I am now on my fourth prescription for my mouth and it has flared up again today. Nothing seems to be working.

The scaffolding came down yesterday, so DH and I are going to try and restore some order to the garden.

I wish you all a pleasant Saturday.
