Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry and cold here in brackley this morning .
My usual routine bus trip to Bicester , and return to watch cycling on TV , although the races are in France and Italy the weather there has taken its toll .
My health is OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning, it’s dark and damp here in south Glos from what I can see out of my bedroom window, no frost for once.
I finished my deep clean of the living room yesterday, I really should do that more often…..
I had a lovely morning at art group, more drawing which I really enjoyed. It’s odd, I used to be somewhat dismissive of graphite drawing but it’s really hooked me, learning how to look and study an object, shading and getting the dimensions right etc. I find it totally engrossing- I have never done anything from still life until now, in any materials.
Off for a long dog walk this morning, I will probably head across the fields and through the woods to the village, a five mile walk. Then more drawing I think!
I hope you all have a good day 🌹

Good morning from Malta where it is cloudy at present but a high of 27°C is expected. Yesterday was the first time I had to put the a/c on in my car this year it was so hot.

I have a long ‘to do’ list so will work my way through it and see how much gets done.

This evening DD3 and a friend are taking me to see Michael McIntyre. We went to see him last time he was in Malta and he was very funny so I’m hoping for a good laugh, heaven knows I could do with one!😄

Have a good day all and a happy weekend I hope.☀️

Good morning Mick and all to follow from Shropshire.A slightly warmer day is forecast.

Yesterdays visit to mum wasn’t good. She isn’t well and could barely open her eyes. It’s an emotional rollercoaster and I feel so sad for her.

When we got home there was a letter giving me a date for the surgery on my scalp - 25th of this month.I am. Dry nervous about it.

On a brighter note, DGD our little ray of sunshine is here for a sleepover. Not sure of her plans for the day yet!

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Good morning from Bristol. No frost this morning but th3 day will be very cold.
Yesterday went well, Spanish class was interesting, students in good form.
Once home, I made a fruit salad for the church weekend starting this afternoon. They couldn’t find an affordable venue, so decided to hold it in the church/hall. We have a bring and share meal tonight.
DGD asked me to make crochet flowers for her school show next week. I managed to make 14 in two evenings . She collected then yesterday evening.
I asked my newest neighbour rounded for a cuppa. She was very astonished but came for an hour. She seems very pleasant but, boy, can she talk.
It was my lovely neighbour’s birthday yesterday, and I took him 1/2 fruitcake and some preserves, all of which he loves. 🙂
Today, I’ve got the church coffee and chat in the morning; quick lunch, then back for 2 pm for the start of things. I won’t be home until after 9pm.
Have a good weekend all of you. Count your blessings. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Mick and all from a moonlit frosty scene here in Cheshire. The moon has been amazing all night. Yes, it's white with frost out there, but I don't have to go out early. When the moon dips beyond the horizon at the front, the sun will be up at the back.

Had my DGS to stay last night as parents are away and he's off somewhere to watch a football match with his friends in a bar somewhere near me. That's all I know.

I was very sad last night to hear that my sister needs open heart surgery. I did get a big hug from my lovely GS as I shed a few tears. I've always looked out for her as we lost our parents when very young really. She has an amazing husband and family though. I think he will be very lonely rattling round that big house without her chatter. Must call and check on him today. Glad to have my GS here to take my mind off things a bit.

Wishing everyone the best day whatever you have planned. Specially warm wishes to those in pain or with worries.

Morning all from a frosty West Oxfordshire. I just peeked outside and my lovely new car is frozen!

Yesterday’s Study Day in Georgian Food was good. Three excellent lectures and a tasty lunch.

Today will be quiet, I think. I will buy petrol and we need one or two groceries. OH is doing well recovering from his op.

Next week is going to be busy so a quiet weekend may be a good thing.

Have a good day, especially those of you with worries and difficulties.

Greyduster Sat 15-Mar-25 06:54:42

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Sun is just rising in South Yorkshire and it looks like being a dry day, but I am off to Lincoln with the family for what promises to be a busy day. I just hope I can stand the pace! They don’t take prisoners! I’m in two minds whether to chicken out. I think all I do is slow them down these days.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Welcome back. We’ve been off air since about 0615

GrannyGravy13 Sat 15-Mar-25 09:07:56

Morning everyone, sunny but chilly here.

Off to the butchers and to get some fish and salad bits.

Have a good Saturday 🙋‍♀️

Will catch up later

Ziplok Sat 15-Mar-25 09:08:54

Good morning,

So far it’s bright and sunny but still on the cool side.
I’m hoping to do a few garden jobs later if it stays dry.

Enjoy your trip to Lincoln Greyduster. I’m sure your family would be disappointed if you didn’t go with them.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton.

Just noticed that this site has been quiet from 7am, must be because of the 'gateway' problems which kept popping up every time I logged in.

A bus trip this morning to the shops; I have an order to pick up in M&S, and a smallish top-up shop to do.
Then home to watch the rugby this afternoon.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Grandmabatty Sat 15-Mar-25 09:11:47

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and bright. I had to scrape the car earlier too. I couldn't get on to Gransnet earlier. Susan it is a rollercoaster, isn't it?
Yesterday I got all the housework and most of the washing done. The big news is that the council will pay for mum's care until I get the guardianship certificate through, a care home five minutes walk from me has assessed her, and she moves next Thursday! I'm glad and hope she settles. My brother is being very difficult and is clearly not talking to me, despite him wanting nothing to do with it. He gets worse as he gets older.
Today I've stripped the bed, washed the sheets etc and hung it out. I've also been to Aldi and stocked up. Shortly I'll go to the local garden centre for breakfast with a pal and get petrol at some point. Pork chop for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good morning, it’s frosty but sunny
I usually lie in bed reading this thread , but I had to get up instead !
I couldn’t negotiate the bad gateway !

GrannyIvy Sat 15-Mar-25 09:20:12

Good morning from bright frosty Cambridgeshire.

No Gransnet when I woke up but see it is back on now! We are off walking across the fields and woods at a local National Trust property this morning and then a quiet afternoon catching up with a long distance phone chat to my best friend.

Followed by steak and salad for dinner, no chips due to the ongoing struggle to get into my spring/summer wardrobe. Oh how I long for some triple cooked chips with my steak 😂 I may squeeze in a glass of Sauvignon blanc later tho!

Wishing a happy trouble free Saturday to all 🌺

Good morning all from Sunnyside sand dunes northwest coast. Problems logging in earlier…

Nice company at art group yesterday, but a meagre result art wise. Walking back to my car, I made an effort to stand straight. After my abdominal surgery in October I have to make myself do it. Felt lethargic after the cancellation of friend’s visit. Thankfully his cat has been found. It had returned to his old house and was hiding.

Flying DD in the south FaceTime yesterday and her interesting account of recent trip to the Middle East. She arrives either today or tomorrow, so that will spur me out of my lethargy.

Thoughts to Susan Sallyforth and all🌺

Marydoll Sat 15-Mar-25 09:24:48

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow. It was -3C when I woke up.

Susan and Sallyforth 💐

I am feeling a bit down today, I am now on my fourth prescription for my mouth and it has flared up again today. Nothing seems to be working.

The scaffolding came down yesterday, so DH and I are going to try and restore some order to the garden.

I wish you all a pleasant Saturday.

ginny Sat 15-Mar-25 09:25:01

Good morning.Chilly and dull in N. Bucks at the moment.
Today we shall do a small food shop locally and then we ‘ll pop to the local garden centre to buy a couple of pots.
DH wants to watch the rugby this afternoon so I shall settle down to some art or craft work.
Tomorrow I am off to the scrapbooking group so must prepare for that. Most of us have been on travels lately so there will be lots of chat about foreign lands.
All three of our DDs are away with their Grandmother who is 93.. They do this once or twice a year and always have amusing stories to tell on return.
Wishing all a pleasant weekend.

I couldn’t negotiate the bad gateway !

Aggie, Bad Gateway means that GN's server is down, nothing anyone can do, until it its rebooted by GNHQ and they were probably having a lie in.😉

GrannySomerset Sat 15-Mar-25 09:29:01

Not often I post on page 1 so the “bad gateway” message has obviously deterred some of the regulars. Fine but cold here and no plans for the day but a little shop in the village and several books on the go and a couple of good films on BBC2 will fill the time.

GrannyIvy Sat 15-Mar-25 09:33:10

I had a very difficult troublesome brother Grandmabatty made life so much harder caring for my dear mum. Mum thought he was golden boy tho😂 Won’t tell you what my sister and I called him. Sadly when mum passed no further contact with him but happily no further problems. Thinking of you and Susan and others caring for their mums 💐

Georgesgran Sat 15-Mar-25 09:34:00

Good Morning from Durham - it’s glorious - blue sky, sun, but cold after a heavy overnight frost. I’ve had an early start and couldn’t access GN, so been out to have my hair cut and back home now.
It was a lovely lunch/afternoon with DD2 yesterday (the North Sea was beautiful, but wild) and I must thank all the GNs who sent birthday greetings. It’s odd, because I’m quite chatty and outgoing, but I hate any fussing over me.
Today, I’m going to take Little Dog out soon, as I’m giving DD2 a hand with DGS2, as her DH is off to Wembley with his Dad. His Mum has gone into a care home for the long weekend, so we are going to visit her there. I hope she settles in and likes it, as it could be a boon in the future.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning all from a bright but chilly North Leicestershire.

We have decided to go for a drive and find a pub for lunch.

We had a lovely tea with DGS3 for his 18th birthday yesterday- he was off out with his friends later. He had had really good news being offered a degree apprenticeship with his preferred company and a starting salary of £24k. He was a very happy boy.

We have also had some not so good news. DH's younger brother is in hospital with a chest infection and dehydration. He has Lewy Body dementia and his lovely wife had recently, and very reluctantly, moved him to a care home.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Thanks , Marydoll
It’s funny how anything different from routine annoys me , but getting stuck in a rut is not good
Did me good rolling out of bed early ( if only to get an extra cup of tea ) 🤣

Good morning from the bright, sunny but very chilly Lancashire coast.
As I shivered my way round the field in the crispy grass with the dog, I wondered why her feet don’t seem to mind.
Entertained DGS2 with his new girlfriend yesterday. She seems very nice and they took the dog for a long walk, so double bonus.
Apart from that, DD is waiting anxiously for some health results so we’re all a bit on edge.
Have a good day if you can.
